16 Suggested Song Titles For the Ill-Advised American Psycho Musical

Christmas arrived early for fans of both Bret Easton Ellis and musicals this morning via the announcement that the author’s 1991 novel American Psycho — which was memorably adapted into a feature film starring Christian Bale — is being transformed again, this time into musical form. In celebration of this news — and in hopes that it avoids the same disastrous Broadway fate as Spiderman — Movieline suggests a few song titles that composer Duncan Sheik (“Spring Awakening”) will hopefully consider for the first draft, which is expected next year.

Lady Gaga Cries in Concert in Poland, Calls Out "Trendy" Counterparts

It’s not often you see Lady Gaga reduced to tears on stage. The two main talking points from the pop star’s impromptu concert address in Poland Friday … Her upcoming album, Born This Way , will be the best of the decade. She’s sick of the whole let-your-freak-flag-fly trend in pop culture. Lady Gaga Cries During Poland Concert “The funny thing is some people reduce freedom to a brand,” Gaga said, crying. “They think that it’s trendy now to be free. They think it’s trendy to be excited about your identity. In truth, there is nothing trendy about Born This Way .” Gaga has long been a vocal advocate for gay rights, but is this personal? Is there a hint of jealousy at “her” message being co-opted by other celebrities? The bulk of Lady Gaga’s speech sounded like a direct response to the handful of empowerment songs female pop stars have released in recent months. From Pink’s “Raise Your Glass” to Katy Perry’s “Firework” and Ke$ha’s “We R Who We R,” many singers seem to be siding with the underdogs lately. The wig and lipstick comments may be a shot at Nicki Minaj, who has embraced a gay fan base, and donned an assortment of out-there hairpieces. No one here’s questioning the motives of Pink, Katy or Ke$ha, and Gaga likely isn’t either, but you can’t help but wonder if she’s feeling a bit left out. After all, those artists performed at the American Music Awards before Born This Way was even released. Is Gaga trying to take back the message? This is a girl who’s donned a meat dress, done countless PSAs, even embraced hermaphrodite rumors about herself. But can’t others join the party? You tell us: Was Lady Gaga weeping because she feels so strongly about her fans and her causes, or for selfish reasons? A combination of the two?

Celebrities to Spurn Twitter, Facebook For Charity

Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake and Usher are going dark. All in the name of charity. The aforementioned foursome and others are signing off Twitter and Facebook Tuesday until they raise $1 million for World AIDS Day. Keys’ charity, Keep A Child Alive, is staging a campaign that will have celebs such as Lady GaGa, Justin Timberlake, and Usher signing off of all social media. PEACE OUT : Donate money or Usher won’t be back on Twitter! The “Digital Life Sacrifice” will feature the stars’ filming “last tweet and testament” videos which will show them lying coffins to represent their “digital death.” “It’s really important and super-cool to use mediums that we naturally are on,” Keys said . “It’s so important to shock you to the point of waking up.” “It’s not that people don’t care or it’s not that people don’t want to do something, it’s that they never thought of it quite like that. This is direct, instantly emotional way, a little sarcastic too, as a way to get people to pay attention.” Leigh Blake, President and co-founder of Keep A Child Alive, says: “We’re trying to sort of make the remark: Why do we care so much about the death of one celebrity as opposed to millions and millions of people dying in the place that we’re all from? It’s about love and respect and human dignity.” She also added that ” Lady Gaga is going to raise it all by herself.” “She’s got a very, very mobilized fan base and that’s beautiful to watch I think … she’s able to draw their attention to these issues that are very important, you know, so that people follow it and act,” she says of the Little Monsters. We wouldn’t doubt it.

Lady Gaga Judges No One…Except the U.S. Military

Is there no end to the many talents of Lady Gaga, already recognized as the greatest Madonna impersonator of this century? Of course we all know her as a singer, musician, fashionista and female impersonator, but recently she has revealed herself as maven in two new areas: military expert and political advisor. It started at the MTV Video Music Awards. That is ironic in itself since I think that MTV stopped being a music channel sometime in the 1990’s. Ms. Gaga, (I don’t know if “Lady” is a title or simply the first part of her pseudonym) appeared in a costume made of meat. When asked the meaning of her get-up by Ellen DeGeneres, she explained it wasn’t a slam on vegans.   “As you know, I am the most judgment-free human being on the earth,” Gaga replied.   Wow! Did the irony of that statement knock anyone else down into their La-Z-Boy? That might be the truest thing she has ever said. It wasn’t too long ago that having judgment skills was considered a plus. Not anymore! Be that as it may, the whole idea was to call attention to the plight of gay folks in the military. If you don’t see the linkage between “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell,” narcissistic self- indulgence and wearing a Porterhouse, come on over and sit on the terminally un-hip bench with me while I try to figure it out.  Ms. Gaga went on to explain that her being accompanied by some disgruntled former employees of the military was a political protest: “For me this evening, if we don’t stand up for what we believe in and if we don’t fight for our rights pretty soon, we’re going to have as much rights as the meat on own bones. And, I am not a piece of meat.” I am not really sure what that means, either. I am a fairly hefty guy and I have a lot of meat on my bones. So are my rights safe? Perhaps Ms. Gaga is trying to tell us that DADT is somehow linked to anorexia in the fashion industry. Ahhh, now it’s all starting to come together. She went on to say: “It is a devastation to me that I know my fans who are gay . . . feel like they have government oppression on them.” Not that there “is” government oppression but that they “feel” there is oppression. Later she “tweeted” to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and the Senator was smitten with Lady Gaga. They tweeted back and forth for days! That is, if you think they do their own “tweeting.” I believe that both have people who do this job for them and the job title is “Twit.”  There is probably a Head Twit and several Assistant Twits. I imagine Lady Gaga and Harry Reid are surrounded by Twits. Perhaps he is just looking for his next gig when he finds himself unemployed in November. Crossposted at Big Hollywood

Lady Gaga and Harry Reid Discuss Repealing ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ on Twitter

In a sign of the technological times we live in, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) sent a message via Twitter to pop singer Lady Gaga on Tuesday concerning a vote on the controversial military policy known as “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” Reid’s tweet was actually in response to Gaga informing her 6.3 million followers: Gay Veterans were my VMA dates. Repeal Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. CALL HARRY REID to Schedule Senate Vote  For those unfamiliar, VMA is short for Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards (Gaga and escorts pictured above right). So began a modern exchange over gay rights between a popular entertainment figure and one of the most powerful men in Washington:
