Mother Pulls Her Son Out Of School After Sending Him To Class In Blackface A second grader was removed from school by his parents after the principal objected to him showing up in black face to do a presentation on the late civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. Sean King had a vision for his project, part of “Wax Museum Day” at Meridian Ranch Elementary School in Peyton, Colo., said his mother Michelle King-Roca. “He said, ‘Mom, I want to wear a black suit because that’s what he wore, a black tie, a white shirt and also I want to do my face black and wear a mustache,” she told ABC affiliate KRDO. As parents and their pint-sized historical figures waited to file into a classroom on Wednesday, the principal asked King-Roca to remove her son’s make-up, she said. Instead, she ignored the request and waited for Sean’s presentation. King-Roca said she was then called to the principal’s office where she, her husband and Sean had a discussion with three school officials. Unsatisfied with the situation, King-Roca pulled her son out of school for the day. School officials could not be reached for comment, but blackface has historically been used by minstrel shows and burlesque for offensive caricatures of black people. This lady ain’t ISHT! By Jim Cantiello Abby Lee Miller of “Dance Moms” Photo: MTV News Early TV ratings show Tuesday night’s “Dance Moms” season-two premiere scored 2.5 million viewers — a series high — so it’s no wonder that the star of the show, dance instructor Abby Lee Miller, has a difficult time going incognito in public. “The kids notice me first,” Miller told MTV News about her newfound fame. ” ‘Mom! That’s the lady from “Dance Moms!” ‘ ” However, Abby said some fans are more eager to give her a piece of their mind than request an autograph. “Just three days ago, I was having a rare dinner with a friend, and this lady walked right up to our table and started yelling at me because I’m mean to [‘Dance Moms’ co-star] Holly. ‘Holly is not some ghetto girl! Holly is very well-educated!’And she went on and on and on and on and on. And the restaurant called the police! She was interrupting the whole restaurant,” Miller recalled. “Then I immediately called Holly to tell her. In retrospect, it was funny.” While Miller is able to brush the dirt off her shoulders (“It’s reality television! It’s fun! It’s entertainment!”), the dance instructor with decades of experience is still having a difficult time adjusting to being a TV star — specifically, physically watching herself on the boob tube. “I just look at my hair and my double chin and my this and my that. They put Natalie Portman’s face on somebody else’s body, but they can’t fix me up a little?” Miller joked of the “Black Swan” star. Hollywood has taken notice of Abby Lee Miller too. And she was onstage, then saw me, and she just went ballistic. She started screaming and quoting me. SMH at this lady: Fed up with crime, a Flint homeowner is fighting back. With words. Eight words are spray painted, on a piece of plywood, covering the front window of a vacant home on N. Chevrolet near Berkley on Flint’s north side. One word intentionally used to send a strong message. “This house is a reflection of ignorant n—as,” read the black homeowner who made the sign. The last word? The N-word. The last two letters a-s, not e-r. At her asking, we’re not going to identify her. She says the windows were ripped out by thieves so they could get at scrap metal. She says she had been fixing up the home to use it to help the homeless. “They’re hustling out here. It’s a domino effect and yet we sit back and do nothing in the community,” she said. “I can understand just how frustrated the lady is. Somebody stole my pipes out of this house before I got here,” said neighbor Ladale Woods. The single mother of two, attending college and taking marketing classes, says her intent was to make a statement to those committing crime. “Evidently I got my message across because you guys are here. My name is Maggie! In my life I have always read the MBE’s but yet I never had any confidence that I would ever have a story to write about. Well with the slogan, “Never Say Never.” I always never gave up on the dream. For my birthday, my mom and dad surprised me with bringing me to the Today Show to see Justin Bieber . I was so excited. I counted down the days until I went! When we got into New York my dad dropped my mom and I off in the line to sleep overnight for Justin. The line was already long but we got there around noon and sat there doing nothing. While waiting in line, my mom became really close to the lady next to us. I had already known that Justin was going to be on the David Letterman Show, but I didn’t know that you could go wait outside. Well the lady next to my mom had a daughter who we hung out with in line. She said that she would take us to wait outside the David Letterman when all of a sudden I turn my head and I saw SCOOTER BRAUN! I screamed so loud! I told him that it was my birthday and took a picture with him! He was so nice! He even signed my shoe, but he asked my mom first because he knew that Uggs were very expensive! Also he had a whole conversation with my dad! He even told me I had SWAG. After that, I waited in line at David Letterman for 6 hours while my mom held our spot in line. Well my mom called me and told me that Justin just drove past the Today Show line! She said everyone ran down to the car and she was by herself! As the car drove away, she waved. Whoever was driving, backed up the car and Justin reached his hand out the window and shook my moms hand! He said, “Hi! How are you?” and my mom just said “Oh hi Justin!” I started freaking out! He pulled up at the Letterman Show and I was standing right next to his car! He just waved and I freaked! I got a really good picture of him walking in! Since it was pouring rain, a lot of people left. We waited another hour for him to come outside. When he came outside, they made it fast and he just went right into his car. He rolled down his window and I started waving! Of course I jumped over the barricade and ran to the car! He looked and me and said hi then grabbed my hand! I was like “JUSTIN I LOVE YOU.” He looked back at me, smiled them blew me a kiss. I seriously thought I died. Walking back to the line I cried. After that I got back in line with my Mom and we waited and waited and waited. Finally they gave out wristbands to people who could make it into the show and I got one! We were so close! It was so great. Justin even told us he had a surprise for us! The surprise was USHER! It was so fun to hear them warm up a little bit! Keep chasing your dreams because my dream finally came true!
