EEEKS! Lindsay Lohan Dumped By Robert Shapiro on Eve of Jail Sentencing

Famed defense attorney Robert Shapiro took on Lindsay Lohan’s case last week on the condition that she follows the judge’s orders and reports to jail . He seemed like just what she needed, but shockingly, Shapiro stepped away Monday for unknown reasons after meeting with Judge Marsha Revel. The troubled star, who is said to be living in denial , is due to be formally sentenced this morning in court for violating the terms of her DUI probation. At least she seems in relatively good spirits. “The only ‘bookings’ that i’m familiar with are Disney Films, never thought that I’d be ‘booking’ into Jail… eeeks,” Lindsay wrote on her Twitter page. Former girlfriend Samantha Ronson, who has supported Lohan through her ordeal, Tweeted back, “well – you haven’t lost your sense of humour.” Barring a miracle, Lindsay Lohan is headed to jail today . It is not immediately clear who will be representing Lohan at the Tuesday morning hearing in Beverly Hills Superior Court where she is ordered to surrender. Although he has been assisting her, Shapiro never formally became her attorney and was expected to take that title after meeting with Judge Revel Monday. Technically, her lawyer is Shawn Chapman Holley, who parted ways with Lohan after the star’s last hearing but never signed the papers removing herself. Revel would have had to replace Holley with Robert Shapiro as attorney of record. This was thought to be a mere formality, but it never actually took place. Lohan was given 90 days in jail for violating probation terms from her 2007 DUI conviction, but likely will serve only a fraction of that due to overcrowding. She had (thankfully) entered a sober living facility with ties to Shapiro last week, but then her assistant was seen removing her belongings earlier Monday. Stay tuned …

John Stamos Extortion Trial Ends With Guilty Verdict

Michigan couple face up to five years in prison for trying to con hundreds of thousands of dollars from the actor. By Kara Warner John Stamos Photo: Jordan Strauss/ WireImage The verdict is in for the Michigan couple who tried to con hundreds of thousands of dollars out of actor John Stamos: guilty. The Associated Press reports that Allison Coss, 24, and Scott Sippola, 31, were found guilty of conspiracy and using e-mail to threaten a person’s reputation. It is a charge that could land the couple in prison for up to five years. Last fall, Coss and Sippola reportedly threatened to sell old photos of the former “Full House” and “ER” star with strippers and cocaine to the tabloids unless he paid them $680,000. Stamos received two e-mails from a “Jessica T,” who claimed she was pregnant and that Stamos was the father, according to the prosecutor. Those were followed by several e-mails from a “Brian L” describing the allegedly compromising photos, which he said would be sold to tabloids if Stamos did not buy them for $680,000. Prosecutors have claimed that Coss and Sippola sent the e-mails, and though Henderson acknowledged that Coss used the pseudonym “Jessica T,” the lawyer dismissed the e-mails as a trick to test Stamos’ reaction in hopes of determining whether he was preying on young girls. Stamos and his lawyer have denied the actor’s romantic involvement with Coss from the beginning. Stamos, who was not present to hear the verdict, arrived in time to hear the judge poll each juror. He was reportedly greeted by dozens of supportive fans upon exiting the federal courthouse. He reiterated the couple’s false claims in a written statement to the AP, adding that he was “shocked and perplexed by Coss and Sippola’s actions.” “These slanderous allegations to smear my reputation were part of their defense to redirect attention away from the federal crime of extortion,” he said. “There was no hot tub, no drugs, no nudity and nothing sexual in nature involved in my friendship with this woman. They lied about everything.”

Mel Gibson Threatens To Burn Down House, Demands Sex In Latest Tape

Actor complains that ex refused to have sex with him by pretending to be asleep. By Gil Kaufman Mel Gibson Photo: Toby Canham/ Getty Images This was almost certainly not the sequel-rich franchise Mel Gibson was looking for to revive his moribund acting career. Yet another audio recording of Gibson, 54, breathlessly and viciously screaming at and threatening his ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, emerged Wednesday (July 14). Like the previous tapes leaked by RadarOnline.com in which a person identified as Gibson can be heard berating Grigorieva with a string of vulgar obscenities, racist and sexist slurs as well as an apparent death threat, the latest tape finds the actor apoplectic in his rage against the mother of his nine-month old daughter. In the three-and-a-half-minute clip (warning: recording contains explicit and offensive content), Gibson can be heard demanding oral sex from Grigorieva and threatening to burn her house down. “I deserve to be bl–n first!” screams the “Passion of the Christ” director, whose wife of 27 years filed for divorce last year. ” … OK, I’ll burn the g–damn house up, but bl– me first! How dare you!” Yelling and panting as if out of breath, Gibson also admonishes Grigorieva, 40 — whom he was reportedly dating for three years before they broke up in February of this year — for choosing sleep over having sex with him in their hot tub. “I should’ve woken you up and said f—ing bl– me, bitch! I should’ve f—ing woken you up and said bl– me! You would’ve liked that better, yeah? But you need the g–damn sleep!” Gibson is being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on domestic-violence allegations, and his lawyer is reportedly set to meet with police next week to discuss the case. According to reports, during a heated argument in January of this year, Gibson allegedly got physical with Grigorieva and knocked out two of her teeth. Given the uncontrolled rage exhibited on the tapes, it’s not surprising that a friend of Gibson’s said the “Braveheart” actor began seeing a therapist earlier this year to deal with his emotions over the breakup with Grigorieva. He appears to blow up at her on the latest tape when she asks for the number of his therapist. “You wanted the number of my therapist?” he howls. “Don’t you ever speak to him! Find your own g–damn therapist! Because you’ve got problems more than me!” He later adds, “You gotta push my f—ing buttons. And it’s not going to work with us! It’s not! I can’t get like this anymore. … You’re a liar and you’re dishonest and you’re f—ed up! So you stay the f— away from me. … I better have my daughter!” Gibson’s spokesperson has offered a “no comment” on the tapes — though he has not denied that the voice heard on them is Gibson — and the actor has not yet made any public statement about their contents.

Barbaric Iranian Practice Continues – Death by Stoning

Twelve Iranian women and three men are on death row awaiting execution by stoning despite an apparent last-minute reprieve for a mother of two who had been facing the horrific sentence after being convicted of adultery. Human rights groups and activists welcomed a wave of international publicity and protests over the case of Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, 43, who was awaiting execution in the western Iranian town of Tabriz after what her lawyer called an unjust trial and a sham conviction. The Iranian embassy in London said in a statement that “according to information from the relevant judicial authorities” the stoning would not go ahead. If confirmed it would be an victory for a brief but intense campaign that was first highlighted by the Guardian last week. added by: jubal

Lindsay Lohan’s Lawyer Quits

Actress was sentenced to 90 days in jail two days ago. By Mawuse Ziegbe Lindsay Lohan Photo: Dave McNew/ Getty Images Lindsay Lohan’s lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley has resigned in the midst of the starlet’s ongoing legal drama. TMZ reports that when the website contacted Holley for comment Thursday (July 8), she told the site that she was no longer representing Lohan. Lohan’s New York lawyer, Stephanie Ovadia, verified the attorney’s exit. “I can confirm [Holley] is not representing Lindsay at this point,” Ovadia told the New York Daily News, adding, “Lindsay is in the process of hiring new counsel.” Holley has reportedly been replaced by lawyer Tiffany Feder-Cohen. Holley did not respond to MTV News’ requests for comment at press time, and Feder-Cohen’s office would not confirm nor deny that the lawyer is now representing Lohan. Holley’s departure is an abrupt move as the attorney was still representing Lohan Thursday morning and even released a statement to MTV News defending the troubled star. “Ms. Lohan and I are extremely disappointed in the sentence handed down by Judge Revel,” Holley said in a statement on July 8, just two days after her client was sentenced to 90 days in jail followed by 90 days in rehab . Holley also blasted the punishment handed down by Revel, insisting it is too severe. “We believe that the penalty is far harsher than what others would have received under similar circumstances.” Holley said Lohan’s ability to adhere to the terms of her probation was affected by the demands of her professional obligations. “The reality is that Ms. Lohan, like most defendants, had to balance work commitments with court requirements,” Holley continued in the statement. “To be punished so severely for doing so, particularly in light of the fact that she substantially complied with each of her probationary conditions, is harsh and unfair.” Others in the legal community have echoed Holley’s sentiments that the sentence is severe. “I think it was really harsh, especially in light of the fact that she was basically compliant as of yesterday’s court date to be done by [July] 15th,” attorney Scott Leemon told MTV News on Wednesday. “This judge just wanted to prove a point that no one messes with her in her court. I’ve had clients mess up on probation, but even when the prosecution asked for only 30 days, she gave her 90 plus 90 of inpatient? Without a doubt, this decision was made by the judge [after] she felt disrespected by Lindsay, who didn’t seem like she got the point,” said Leeman, who has represented stars such as 50 Cent and Busta Rhymes. “The fact that the court gave her three times what the people had asked for [prosecutors requested a 30-day sentence] is surprising, and in some cases you read that as a ‘celebrity tax,’ ” said Stacey Richman, who has represented Lil Wayne. However, Richman added that Judge Revel has also been generous to the star. “If she’s flaunted her probation not once, but three or four times, the judge has been very kind in giving her so many opportunities to stay with the program.” Related Photos Lindsay Lohan Goes To Court

The Bruce Beresford-Redman Defense: TV Producer is a Scapegoat

It’s all a set up. That’s the argument lawyers for Bruce Beresford-Redman plan to use if their client is ever extradited to Mexico on first-degree murder charges. The former Survivor producer is the prime suspect in the April death of wife Monica, who was found in a sewer near the Cancun hotel where she and Bruce were vacationing, strangled to death. Since then, Beresford-Redman has proclaimed his innocence , while the victim’s sisters have made no secret over their beliefs that Bruce is responsible for Monica’s death. Now, following an unusual hiccup in the case that proves Mexican authorities confiscated Bruce’s cell phone last month and made thousands of dollars worth of calls on it, a source tells TMZ exactly what the suspect’s defense will be: Beresford-Redman’s attorney will claim police are in need of a scapegoat because there were two deaths aside from Monica’s at the Cancun hotel in question, along with an alleged rape by an employee. With tourism in danger, the lawyer will state, Bruce has been made the fall guy. Meanwhile, a private funeral service is scheduled for Monica tomorrow. Bruce is not invited.
