Dylann Roof Facing New Competency Hearing Ahead Of Charleston Church Sentencing

SMH…. Dylann Roof To Face New Competency Hearing Dylann Roof will have a new competency hearing ahead of his sentencing. The murderer who was convicted on all 33 counts in relation to that 2015 Charleston church shooting, will undergo a second hearing to determine if he’s competent to stand trial at his sentencing. Roof, who wants to represent himself during sentencing, was found guilty of nine counts of hate crimes resulting in death, three counts of hate crimes involving an attempt to kill, nine counts of obstructing the exercise of religion resulting in death, three counts of that charge with an attempt to kill, and nine counts of using a firearm to commit murder during a crime of violence. Jurors will decide if he deserves the death penalty or life in prison. USA Today reports: Standby counsel for Dylann Roof, 22, filed a motion under seal Thursday asking Judge Richard Gergel of U.S. District Court in Charleston determine whether the defendant is competent to proceed with the sentencing phase. Gergel granted that motion and scheduled the competency hearing for Monday, a federal holiday, with jurors expected to reconvene for the sentencing phase Tuesday. The motion came one day after a hearing in which Roof again said he would represent himself during the sentencing. He told the court he planned to offer an opening statement but will not call witnesses or submit evidence in his defense […] With sentencing set to begin in five days, Roof again has dismissed the lawyers, a move that prevents them from submitting evidence that he suffers from a mental defect. Evaluations and testimony from mental health experts in the sentencing phase often are considered key factors that might persuade jurors to vote for a life sentence over execution. In court filings, Roof has indicated he will not call mental health experts, reversing a course his lawyers had planned earlier. Hopefully, this murderous trash is ruled competent before his sentencing in January.

N.Y. Judge Put Warrant Out For Rapper After He Missed Court DMX said his warrant for a no-show at a child support hearing was down to a mix up between his lawyers and the court. BOSSIP broke the story earlier this week that a Westchester County Supreme Court judge put a warrant out for the rapper’s arrest after he didn’t turn up to a court date with ex-wife, Tashera Simmons. But DMX believed his lawyers successfully postponed the Dec. 14 hearing because of his longstanding “DMXmas” performance in Las Vegas the same day. “I did everything I was supposed to do, it wasn’t my fault,” DMX said, according to his Uncle Nell, who is travelling with the rapper as he performs. Uncle Nell said DMX – who has been in and out of jail over the last few years – had turned his professional life around, getting new management, paying off another child support judgment in upstate New York and making sure his court-ordered $5,000 a month in child support was paid to Tashera on time. “He was doing so good for the last three months, building his rep back up,” Uncle Nell told BOSSIP. “He did the show, we went to bed and when we woke up there was a warrant.” DMX – whose real name is Earl Simmons – is set to perform another show in Vegas on Thursday, and then will celebrate his birthday on Friday before heading to Utah for more shows. Then he’ll head back to New York, Uncle Nell said. He said DMX isn’t worried about cops nabbing him on the warrant as he travels from state to state. “We’re sure that the attorney is going to handle it,” Uncle Nell said. “They fumbled the ball, not us. We fulfilled our obligations.” In a statement to BOSSIP, the rapper’s rep said the rapper was continuing to move forward in his career. “We appreciate support from fans, promoters and our staff alike for knowing and trusting that business will go on as usual,” the statement read. “We look forward to great success, and plan to stay focused on accomplishing goals to achieve such greatness!” DMX is due back in court on the warrant next month.

Subway’s Jared Fogle To Pay Out $1.4 Million To Child Sex Victims Former Subway pitchman, Jared Fogle , has plead guilty to charges stemming from his involvement in a online child sex ring. As part of the plea deal his lawyers were able to negotiate, freaky azz Fogle must pay back $1.4 million in restitution to his victims according to CNN Checks for $100,000 have now been delivered to three of those victims who are now adults, as well as to the parents of seven other victims who are still minors, according to Timothy Horty, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney in Indianapolis. Four more victims will receive their payments pending some administrative details, Horty said, but Fogle has already put those funds into a trust account. The victims are allowed to use the funds without any restrictions. “The spirit is to help make them whole, get any kind of therapy they might need or pay for education expenses,” Horty said. Fogle is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 19 and faces between five and 12-1/2 years in prison. That’s flaw as HELL! Ain’t a damn thing about $100,000 gonna make any one of these folks “whole”.
