Michael Jackson: Over-Medicated By Other Doctors?

Charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson, Dr. Conrad Murray, is expected to launch a defense based on two points: Michael Jackson killed himself with a lethal dose while alone in a room Other doctors were enabling and excessively medicating the star too Point #1 could be tough to establish, but certain items found in the room where MJ tragically died could bolster Murray’s bid to prove the latter. Murray was Jackson’s personal physician until his 2009 death . Evidence in the room suggests certain potent drugs were “prescribed and prepared” for the star to self-medicate, according to new reports . That could be a significant boost for the embattled doc. Lawyers for Dr. Conrad Murray will not dispute the L.A. County Coroner’s finding that Michael Jackson died of a massive Propofol overdose. However, his attorneys will present evidence that Michael awoke, then gave himself the fatal dose of Propofol when Murray left the room. Whether evidence found at the late King of Pop’s residence will be used in an attempt to implicate other doctors in MJ’s death is unclear.

Dr. Conrad Murray Defense Continues to Blame MJ

It looks like Michael Jackson’s addictive personality and his need for instant gratification may become a building block in Dr. Conrad Murray’s legal strategy. Yesterday we talked about how Dr. Murray’s defense will argue that Michael Jackson killed himself by pumping a lethal dose of Propofol into his own body. This happened, allegedly, when the doc left the room to use the can. Murray says he personally administered only an eighth of the amount in MJ’s system. That’s far-fetched if you ask us. But to bolster the story, sources familiar with the defense’s strategy say they plan to show it was in character for Michael. Michael Jackson was a demanding celebrity, Conrad Murra y’s lawyers will claim, and a man-child who wanted what he wanted when he wanted it, period. Even if it posed a danger to himself . BLAME THE VICTIM : That’s the only card Dr. Conrad Murray has left, and he’s playing it. Valid or outrageous? A jury may have to make that determination in court . Amazingly, the defense will use Coke to prove its point. Not Coke as in cocaine, but plain ol’ Coca-Cola. Michael Jackson apparently consumed massive quantities of the legendary soft drink, despite its caffeine content. Jackson, an insomniac, knew full well that guzzling the stuff would make it hard to sleep, but he did not care. When the time came to sleep, he turned to drugs. The defense will provide examples of MJ hyping himself up with caffeine from soda, then using drugs – including Propofol, an anesthesic – to knock himself out. Basically, this is meant to establish that Jackson was an individual who demanded instant gratification, making the idea of him waking up, seeing Dr. Murray was out of the room and self-medicating with massive amounts of Propofol believable. Is it? What do you think? Did Michael Jackson play a role in his own demise, or is this shady doc trying to blame the victim to save his own a$$?

Michael Jackson Killed HIMSELF, Dr. Conrad Murray Says

We’ve been wondering ever since he was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson how Dr. Conrad Murray would try to explain it away. Now we know: He plans to argue that MJ did himself in. Murray’s legal defense will hinge on the argument that the pop icon gave himself the fatal dose of Propofol, a hospital-grade anesthesia authorities say killed him. The defense will argue how Michael Jackson was a long-time Propofol addict, and that “Michael liked to push it” via IV, to the point of going to extreme measures. His argument will try to refute that Murray covered up evidence , which the LAPD contends. The doctor’s story of MJ’s death timeline is likely to play out as such: What really happened on June 25? Only Michael Jackson and Dr. Conrad Murray know for sure, and the latter has a markedly different version of events than the LAPD. Around 10:50 a.m. on June 25, Dr. Conrad Murray gave Michael Jackson 25 mg of Propofol from a 20 ml bottle, which is only about 1/8 of the bottle. The dose Dr. Murray administered would keep someone asleep for only 5-10 minutes, but the Propofol, along with Ativan and Versed already in MJ’s system, had a synergistic effect that put Jackson to sleep for a longer period. For the next hour, Dr. Murray stayed in the room and was on the phone much of the time. He didn’t leave the room to make the calls because MJ liked activity in the room, regularly sleeping with the lights on and the TV blaring. Around noon, Murray left the room for approximately two minutes to go to the bathroom. While he was gone, the defense believes Jackson suddenly woke up, frustrated he had spent nearly nine hours trying in vain to sleep. The defense theory: MJ took the 20 ml bottle of Propofol, self-injected the remainder of it via IV and caused a massive overdose, stopping his heart. Dr. Murray found Jackson with eyes open and pupils dilated, dropped the phone (he was speaking with girlfriend Nicole Alvarez ) and performed CPR. What do you think of this theory by Dr. Conrad Murray? Is it at all legitimate, or is he just grasping at whatever legal straws he can find at this point?
