Tom Cruise, the Master of Scientology , has broken his silence and talked about Scientology for the first time … Well, in a long time. Like, a really long time – a couch-jumping kind of long time, honestly. Cruise opened up in an interview during the promotion of his new film, Jack Reacher 2: Never Go Back , and had a fair amount to say about the controversial cult religion organization. When a reporter surprised him and dared to ask what he thought about the anti-Scientology propaganda films that have emerged over the last few years, Tom, ever the PR-pro, spun it and said, “It’s something that has helped me incredibly in my life.” “I’ve been a Scientologist for over 30 years,” he continued, essentially avoiding the question altogether. “It’s something, you know, without it, I wouldn’t be where I am.” No doubt, son. “So it’s a beautiful religion,” Tom continued. “I’m incredibly proud.” He’s got a pretty valid point when he says that he “wouldn’t be” where he is today if it weren’t for Scientology, because all of the CoS leg-breakers back him in whatever he does. Yeah, Jack Reacher isn’t exactly Mission Impossible (except for that it really is, just with less hot women and a different name than Ethan Hunt) or even Top Gun … But this old man’s still getting roles upon roles heaped upon his pile so much, that his alien cup runneth over. Basically, Cruise gets away with whatever he wants. Then, of course, there’s his obvious exoneration from having to care for his daughter, Suri Cruise , since she’s affiliated with her SP mother, Katie Holmes. We’d say it’s a safe bet to make that he wouldn’t get away with half of the stuff that he does now if it weren’t for his “religion.” When you’re Tom Cruise, though, you can do all sorts of wonky things like audition girlfriends and put years-long gag orders on your ex-wives to prevent them from making money off of your neuroses. It must be hell for those you leave in your wake of terror, but jeez. When you don’t have any responsibilities to anyone or anything other than a Thetan spaceship, there’s a lot of free time on your hands in which you can learn the art of mastering manipulation. Life’s good when you’re a top-ranking member of Scientology, yeah?

Brad Pitt has been caught nearly kissing Marion Cotillard. What sort of wrench will this throw into Pitt’s divorce proceedings with Angelina Jolie? Will she use the image below against her estranged husband in her plans to secure full legal custody of the stars’ six children? What impact will this development have on Pitt’s global popularity? The answers, in order, are: No wrench. No way for Jolie to use this photo against Pitt. And no impact at all on Pitt’s standing with millions of fans around the globe. How come? Because the image in question is a movie poster! HA! Got ya! Sorry, but we had to. The first promotional poster for Pitt and Cotillard’s upcoming World War II romantic drama, Allied , has hit the Internet. And it’s only worth noting because a rumor circulated soon after Jolie filed to divorce Pitt that he actually carried on an affair with Cotillard . This chatter was based on nothing but the fact that Pitt and Cotillard are starring together as husband and wife in this film and were probably caught looking cozy on set together. For the camera, that is, and nothing more. Of course, it is widely believed that Pitt got together with Jolie on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith way back in the day, ending his marriage to Jennifer Aniston as a result of this new relationship. So we do understand where people got the idea that Pitt might bond with a female co-star. But Cotillard did a masterful job of shooting down any affair allegations before they built up too much momentum. In a very straightforward Instagram post, the French actress responded to these silly rumors as follows last month: This is going to be my first and only reaction to the whirlwind news that broke 24 hours ago and that I was swept up into. I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously but as this situation is spiraling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up. Firstly, many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need. Secondly to those who have indicated that I am devastated, I am very well thank you. This crafted conversation isn’t distressing. And to all the media and the haters who are quick to pass judgment, I sincerely wish you a swift recovery. The Walking Dead Preview: A Slice of Season 7

The Walking Dead returned with a bang on Sunday night. Or, to be more precise, The Walking Dead returned with a bat on Sunday night. And that bat was slammed into the heads of two main characters, both of whom were killed off the show in very gruesome fashion. The Walking Dead Season 7: What’s Ahead? Rest in peace, Abraham. And rest in peace, Glenn. Both of these heroes lost their lives at the hands of Negan on The Walking Dead Season 7 Episode 1 , with the drama’s most frightening villain to date making it very clear that he’s in charge. But don’t take our word it. Take the word of Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes. “Let me put this to all of you as clearly as I can,” he says in the extended preview above. “I’m not in charge anymore. Negan is.” Elsewhere in this trailer, we see Daryl getting shown the scary ropes of the Saviors’ territory by Dwight, as Negan makes another point clear: “I don’t think you get it yet,” he says. “You work for me.” Aside from the promo featured here, AMC also released a clip from next Sunday’s new installment, which is titled “The Well.” It features Carol on the mend in the Kingdom with Morgan, who tells his friend of the Kingdom leader: “He does his own thing.” “Uh, what does that mean?” she asks. The Walking Dead Clip: Welcome to The Kingdom The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere has received some backlash for just how violent it was, setting a new standard even for a show who has violence to thank for its immense popularity. Why did we need to see Glenn’s eyes pop out? Why did the camera need to linger on his lifeless body in such a manner? So [it] has a lot to do with Rick’s future story, Maggie’s future story and certainly Daryl’s future story.” Interesting. Bobby Vee Dies; ’60s Pop Star Was 73

You may not know the name Bobby Vee, but you almost certainly know his voice. Vee won the hearts of American teens in the late ’50s and early ’60s with a string of hit songs that included “Rubber Ball,” “Come Back When You Grow Up,” and his best known single, “Take Good Care of My Baby.” Bobby Vee: “Take Good Care of My Baby” Released in 1961, the song was penned by a 19-year-old Carole King, and it’s a regular on movies, TV shows, commercials and oldies radio stations to this day: Vee passed away this morning after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. While his most popular song was recorded 55 years ago, Vee continued to write and record music until the end of his life, even after being diagnosed with the illness that would eventually claim his life. While he’s no longer a household name, Vee’s influence is evident all over the history of American rock music, and he enjoyed Zelig-like brushes with greatness throughout his life. Vee got his start in music in the wake of the plane crash that killed legendary performers Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Bopper. The artists were en route to a Minnesota town near Vee’s home at the time of the crash, and rather than cancel the concert they were to perform at, the local radio station that sponsored the event put out a call for replacement performers. Vee auditioned and wound up performing alongside legendary vocal group Dion and the Belmonts, and future country music icon Waylon Jennings. From there, it didn’t take long for Vee to hit it big. Within two years, the Beatles were covering his songs, and Vee was performing for thousands of screaming fans all over the country. Early in his career, Vee hired a young pianist named Robert Zimmerman to play in his backup band. Zimmerman would go on to enjoy a fair bit of success (and win a Nobel Prize ) after adopting the stage name Bob Dylan. Vee was in the crowd when Dylan paid tribute to him and sang one of his early songs at a concert in 2013. The douche in here is thick enough to cut with a knife. Beware. Legendary golfer/philanderer, Tiger Woods, doesn’t regret cheating on his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren. To be clear, Tiger Woods cheated on Elin Nordegren , and he’s totally okay with it. In a bombshell interview , Woods told Charlie Rose, “[My only regret in life was] not spending another year at Stanford,” his former university. Rose incredulously asked if that was the only regret from his life – a life of many regrets by all outward appearances – yet Woods was firm in his “no.” When further pressed about his divorce from Nordegren, and if Woods had ever expressed remorse to his children about his infidelities, Woods said, “No.” “No. I don’t. I haven’t said that,” he replied. “I said ‘Everybody makes mistakes, and the reason why mommy’s living in her house and daddy’s living in his house is because daddy made mistakes, and it’s okay.” Except for the part, you know, where it’s not, and apparently Tiger has a communication breakdown in the syanpses of his brain, because most mistakes culminate in regrets. You’d probably have to have a conscience to experience regret, though. “I made a bunch of mistakes,” he conceded. “But in the end, Elin is my ex-wife .” View Slideshow: 13 Sexiest Elin Nordegren Photos “She’s one of my best friends,” he added. “We’ve had two beautiful kids.” (That weren’t figured into the remorse equation when Tiger was boning his many mistresses , apparently.) There’s only one thing certain, and that it’s that nothing is certain when it comes to Tiger Woods (except for, perhaps, a dong wandering deep into the woods to find his balls). It’s nothing short of shocking that he’d say that he has “no regret” about cheating on his ex-wife … … But then again, it was nothing short of shocking when we found out the extent of his infidelities. His career hasn’t really recovered from the 2009 cheating scandal, and sorry to say, we’ve got no “rebound” joke there – things were just too deep. Tiger’s public persona has basically been out of control ever since, and it’s high time we start learning that he’s nothing but a talented loose cannon. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of them floating around out there these days.
