This week, Johnny Depp was accused of some pretty despicable crimes by his estranged wife Amber Heard. The actress claimed he abused her numerous times, leading her to file for divorce and obtain a restraining order against Depp . But Depp’s first wife, Lori Anne Allison, has now come forward to defend her ex-husband. Allison, who wed Depp when he was 20 and stayed married to him from 1983 to 1985, claimed he was a “soft person” who never laid a hand on her, according to TMZ. She remembers the kind manner in which he treated animals, claiming he was more affectionate with his dog than many folks are with their children. Allison tells friends she doesn’t believe Heard’s accusations. Though their two-year marriage ended years ago, Allison and Depp remain friends and she reportedly offered her condolences last week upon hearing about the death of her ex’s mother. While Allison refuses to believe her ex-husband is capable of domestic abuse, much can happen in 30 years. Heard has claimed that Depp’s use of cocaine and alcohol led him to become violent and aggressive. In a statement to the court, she said Depp was “barely ever sober” and revealed disturbing details about the alleged abuse , which made her fear for her life. During one particularly brutal episode, she claimed Depp hurled a “magnum size bottle of champagne at the wall and a wine glass” on her and on the floor. “Johnny then grabbed me by the shoulders and pushed me onto the bed, blocking the bedroom door,” she continued. “He then grabbed me by the hair and violently shoved me to the floor.” Depp has not commented since Heard’s allegations became public, but the day prior his rep issued a statement, saying he “will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life.”
