Missing Link: Zach Galifianakis & Zoe Saldana Talk Self-Acceptance, Working With Others & More

Stop-motion animation was once thought to be a dying genre, but Laika studios new film Missing Link is breathing new life into the film style. Missing Link tells the story of Sir Lionel Frost, “who sets off on an adventure to the Pacific Northwest to prove the existence of a legendary creature—Mr. Link. Frost, who’s also looking to gain acceptance by his small-minded explorer peers, is accompanied on his journey by Adelina Fortnight, a free-spirited, independent adventurer who just so happens to possess the only known map to their secret destination of trying to find Link.” Zach Galifianakis stars as Mr. Link, the Bigfoot Sasquatch in search of his relatives and Zoe Saldana voices Adelina Fortnight, the free-spirited traveler who, along with Sir Lionel Frost, helps Mr. Link find his people. On this episode of Extra Butter, I spoke with the Zach and Zoe about some of the underlying themes of the film, including acceptance, fitting in, and being told to “stick with your own kind.” Is it best to stick with your own, or can you grow from experiencing other people and different things? Zach told us: I think [experiencing other people and things] is the best way to go about it. We’re supposed to be living here with each other. We’re all from different walks of life. One should never feel like one is better than the other. In North Carolina, there was a cabin that was built eons ago, and the reason it’s still erecting is because the Germans and the Brits worked on it together. When different ideas come and work together, it’s mathematical. It’s only better. Zoe added: I think you have to [stick with your own] for a certain amount of time, in order for you to learn about your heritage, your history, who you were — even those before you, who they were. But as soon as that happens, to journey outside of your comfort zones is crucial in order for you to grow knowledge, experience. But also to gain compassion about everything that is different outside of yourself, because you have to nurture curiosity.   Some may be surprised to find out that someone as beautiful as Ms. Saldana use to have a problem fitting in. I feel like school was the most difficult time in my life. Having to go back to the same place that causes so much stress in you because of the projections. Everybody is just projecting. And kids tend to be really mean through their innocence. The lack of knowledge and the lack of experience sometimes compels you to be a really heartless person.  Fortunately, the actress never let the childhood drama stop her from becoming a box office phenom. See what else Zach and Zoe had to say in the video above. Catch Missing Link when it hits theaters this Friday, April 12th.

Pamela Anderson: Julian Assange Was Arrested and It’s Trump’s Fault!!

Controversial WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was finally arrested early Thursday morning. Pamela Anderson, once rumored to be dating Assange , took to Twitter to express her shock and outrage. She's blasting a number of countries over this arrest, and she's also pointing the finger at … Donald J. Trump. Early Thursday morning, Julian Assange was removed from the Ecuadorian embassy and arrested in London. His removal was caught on a video. He has clearly seen better days. It's a complicated topic, because many feel that the specific charges on which Assange has been arrested stem from heroic deeds. After all, he worked with noted activist Chelsea Manning. Chelsea spent years of her life suffering without dignity in prison after she leaked evidence of two incidents of the slaughter of civilians overseas. But even those who consider that a worthy sacrifice have other issues with Assange. Among them, the accusations of rape and the role that WikiLeaks has taken as an intelligence and propaganda arm of the Russian government. It may be that, at one point, Assange was an idealist who wanted to expose government misconduct or simply secrets in general. Now, many believe that he has lost his way, and that his arrest was overdue. Pamela Anderson shared a video of Assange's arrest and made it clear that she feels that this was an injustice. “I am in shock,” Pamela tweeted. “I couldn’t hear clearly what he said?” “He looks very bad,” she correctly observed. She demanded to know: “How could you Equador ?” Pamela then answered her own question with a claim: “(Because he exposed you).” Pamela also wondered openly about how the UK could arrest the man whom she regards as both a friend and a hero. “How could you UK?” Pamela asked. “Of course,” she replied. “You are America’s b–ch.” We suspect that the folks on Downing Street would object to her characterization. “And,” Pamela theorized. “You need a diversion from your idiotic Brexit bulls–t.” Her outrage about the arrest may be misplaced, but on that topic, Pamela is right on the money. Pamela wasn't done with her list of countries on her s–t list, however. “And the USA?” Pamela tweeted. “This toxic coward of a President,” she exclaimed. “He needs to rally his base?” Notably, that seems like an unlikely motive, and it also seems unlikely that Trump was directly involved in orchestrating this. Seemingly addressing the orange in chief, Pamela accused: “You are selfish and cruel.” That's true, but not super relevant to this context. “You have taken the entire world backwards,” she correctly asserted about Trump and his regime. Continuing to state facts, she wrote: “You are devils and liars and thieves.” “And,” Pamela concluded. “You will ROTT And WE WILL RISE.” That tangent about  In the final months of the 2016 election, Donald Trump referred to WikiLeaks 164 times. Unlike when he mentions people of color, immigrants, or various famous women, he was not bringing up the organization to stoke anger and hate. Instead, he brought up WikiLeaks in reference to illegally accessed information about Hillary Clinton's private correspondence. WikiLeaks behaved as a friend towards the Trump campaign — which is no surprise, given that it has for years functioned at the behest of Russia. It is unclear what role Assange may have continued to play during his years-long asylum at the Ecuadorian embassy. Pamela Anderson, pictured here with her two unnecessarily handsome adult sons, has considered Assange a friend. She has traveled to meet him during his self-imposed seclusion within the embassy. There were even rumors that she and Assange were dating. Her sympathy may be misplaced, but we have to stress that she's not the only celebrity who has mistaken Assange for a freedom fighter.

A Lil’ Positivity: Young Thief Steals From 7-Eleven But Instead Of Bringing In Cops, The Owner Does THIS

Source: Alexander Shcherbak / Getty 7-Eleven Owner Does Good Deed For Kid Caught Stealing From His Store One 7-Eleven owner wasn’t in a rush to get cops involved when confronted with a theft in his store. According to CBS News , Jay Singh saw someone trying to snag items from his Toledo, Ohio store. “You can see he’s turning here, putting stuff in his pocket,” he said. Singh then told an employee to call 911 while he confronted the customer: “He said, ‘Oh, I’ll put it back.’ I said ‘No, put everything on the counter. I want to see all the things that you have,’” Singh said. Then Singh posed a simple question to the guy: Why was he stealing? “He said, ‘I’m hungry. I’m stealing it for myself and my younger brother.’ I said you need food? I’ll give you food. That’s not a problem,” Singh said. The owner then filled a bag with food for free and he stopped the 911 call. Singh said there was no point in getting the young customer arrested when food was the root issue. “He’s a young kid. That will go on his record that he was a thief. He cannot do anything in his life. He will not get a good job. This will not solve his hunger problem,” Singh said. *Sigh* If only more people could think like Singh. One customer, Cedric Bishop, served as a witness to the good deed. He thought what he saw was so amazing, he decided to share it on Facebook. “There was over 1,000 shares. Brought tears to my eyes honestly,” Bishop said. Singh further explained why he did what he did, saying: “It’s basically our Indian culture that if you give food to a hungry person, that’s considered like God will bless you for that.” Hopefully, all the blessings go Singh’s way and for the hungry customer.

Balancing Acts: “The Talk” Co-Host Sara Gilbert Reveals She’s Leaving The Show [VIDEO]

Source: Sonja Flemming/CBS via Getty Images / Getty Sara Gilbert Announces She’ll Leave “The Talk” After Season 9 We are sending our love to our friends at “The Talk” following Sara Gilbert’s announcement Tuesday that she’ll be leaving the show at the end of this season, which is the 9th season for the Emmy award-winning show. “Alright, I’m nervous,” Sara said as she announced her decision. “This is hard to and something that I have been struggling with for a while and going back and forth, but I’ve decided that it’s time for me to leave the show this year. I obviously love it here, and like I said, this was extremely difficult. Last season, I did ‘The Conners’ as you know, and was also producing and here, and I loved it and felt totally empowered, but also If I’m being honest about it, I think my life was slightly out of balance, and I wasn’t able to spend as much time with my three kids as I’d like, or time for myself. And as I’ve continued on I’m starting to develop more things to produce and I’m having opportunities to act, and I’m just feeling like I don’t know how I’m going to do it all. I was looking at the next six months and just thinking there’s no time. And I’ll look at even small things in my life, my youngest is four years old, and I still haven’t made his baby book. You know, you sit , and you think ‘oh my God,’ my daughter is looking at hers last night and I was like ‘Ahh, he’s going to figure it out soon.’ Just basic life things, but it’s difficult because this is a place I love and a place that I’m extremely happy. I love the hosts; I love the crew; I love our staff. I’m so grateful to the audience for letting me in your homes every day. It’s been such an honor, and I’m not going anywhere yet, I’ll be here the rest of the season. I will come back. I will guest co-host. You’re not going to get rid of me, so I’ll be around be around. Thank you so much.” Watch her deliver the news below: Sara was the founder of the show and has been with the program from the start, like Sharon Osbourne. Nipsey Hussle Memorial Will Feature Heavy Security To Avoid Issues

See the original post:

Source: Tim Mosenfelder / Getty The family, friends, and supporters of Nipsey Hussle will be gathered to celebrate the life of the popular rapper and businessman. According to a new report, the venue will be heavily guarded to avoid a breakout of issues that occurred last week during a vigil for Hussle. TMZ reports : Sources familiar with Nipsey’s Celebration of Life at the Staples Center arena this Thursday tell us there will be an abundance of security from multiple agencies and organizations — all with the intention of keeping the memorial peaceful and drama-free. We’re told security on hand Thursday will feature a mix of muscle — from members of the LAPD, members of the Nation of Islam, as well as Staples Center personnel. Our sources say the LAPD is only on hand to offer assistance … helping to move traffic, keep the peace and to step in if needed. The reason for such a strong presence … our sources say a big part of it has to do with Nipsey’s family’s wishes in wanting to prevent further violence — especially in the wake of the chaos that broke out at Nipsey’s L.A. vigil last week … which cops now say left 2 people shot. According to a search warrant — obtained by TMZ — cops are still on the hunt for the person who allegedly pulled the trigger with the intent of killing others. A possible added danger to Thursday’s ceremony. Hopefully, Nipsey Hussle’s homegoing ceremony goes off without a hitch. — Photo: Getty
