He underwent several operations as a result. The assailant was later convicted and sent to prison. While incarcerated, fans of Morris assaulted the robber as a form of revenge. While Morris was in the hospital recuperating, he received a script saying that his character Stan was selling the radio station and moving to China. He made one final appearance in the show’s third season where he was walking with a cane because of the numerous operations. But in a recent interview with Netflix’s “Strong Black Lead,” Morris said his departure from the show was unexpected. “But the man who produced “Martin” basically was Martin Lawrence. And after I had no bad words with him, still to this day, I do not understand why he decided to fire me while I was in Daniel Freeman Hospital. Not only fired me while I was in the hospital itself, but then went around telling people in interviews that he came and sat by my bed and cried and stuff like that. Source: Michael Putland / Getty Warner Bros Pictures has acquired the life rights of Teddy Pendergrass and Tyrese is set to play the legendary singer, songwriter in a film about his life, Deadline reports . Lee Daniels and Donald De Line have been tapped to produce the film via De Line Pictures studio and Tyrese’s Voltron Pictures. Pendergrass’ widow, Joan Pendergrass, is an executive producer. “I am honored to take this journey… this is the role that I feel I was born to play. Teddy Pendergrass embraced me and before he passed put the responsibility on my shoulders to tell his story,” Tyrese told Deadline. “Being here in this time and in this space and moment with Lee Daniels, Donald De Line, Little Marvin and Warner Bros is an answered prayer. Teddy, I just hope we make you, your wife and family proud… Here we go!!” Teddy Pendergrass reached massive success in the 70s and 80s as lead singer of the Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes and his own solo career. In 1982, Pendergrass was severely injured in a car accident that left his paralyzed from the chest down. He would learn how to sing again and eventually perform. He died in 2010. Cory Wharton SLAMS Dad-Shamers: It’s Not My Fault Ryder Got Sick!

Cory Wharton is back with his ex-girlfriend Taylor Selfridge , but that’s not the only thing that has fans angry. Trolls have been viciously dad-shaming because he happened to be on vacation when little Ryder fell seriously ill. Now, Cory is hitting back at his detractors and explaining that he did everything that he could. Cory Wharton fired off a tweet after receiving unfair backlash. “Everybody is so quick to try paint me as a bad dad,” Cory laments. “It’s not fair at all.” “Ryder got sick while I was on vacation,” he writes. “And once it got worst I booked a flight home.” “At this point,” he admits. “I can’t care about everyone one else thinks I know what type of dad I am.” “I just want Ryder to get better,” he expresses. Precious baby Ryder was born with a congenital condition known as VLCAD. Because of this condition, Ryder’s body has difficulty breaking down certain types of fats. That may sound simple, akin to lactose intolerance, but it can be serious, and can manifest in various ways throughout someone’s life. In fact, one of the childhood symptoms of VLCAD is heart problems. Last week, Ryder was hospitalized due to complications from her condition. Cory could not have known this when he booked his vacation. Us Weekly   spoke to Cory, who released a statement to elaborate upon the frustrations that he expressed in his tweet. “While I rarely respond to public criticism,” Cory begins. “I felt the need this time to speak up.” For the record, he responded to public criticism just last week when he unveiled his new girlfriend . He asked fans to let him live his life. Cory is speaking up this time “because these claims are simply ridiculous and an attack on my character.” “Anyone who has watched Teen Mom OG —  and my social media — knows how involved I am,” he points out. Cory details that he is very involved “in my daughter’s life and in co-parenting with Cheyenne.” “Ryder is my life,” Cory affirms. “And I love her so much.” “And,” he continues, he “would never do anything that would have a negative impact on her.” “Anyone who thinks anything of the opposite is an idiot,” he accuses. “And clearly doesn’t know who I am at all.” “As soon as I got back from my vacation,” Cory explains. “I raced to the side of my daughter in the hospital.” “And,” he reveals, he “was there to take her home as well.” We don’t want to get psychoanalytical on you … but we will anyway. We don’t think that these dad-shaming fans who actually follow Cory at all are genuinely angry with him over this. They know that he rushed to be by Ryder’s side as soon as he could, cutting short his vacation. What they’re mad about is that he’s not by Cheyenne Floyd’s side. Both Cheyenne and Cory have made it very clear that they are co-parents but not a couple, and that they do not intend for that to change. Cheyenne also released a statement about her daughter’s health. “Thank you to everyone who prayed, reached out, & lifted Ryder up,” Cheyenne wrote on Instagram. “We are home & she is back to running in circles,” she shared. Momo Challenge Urges Kids to Harm Themselves. Don’t Let Them.

The Momo Challenge is here, and it makes the Tide Pod challenge look like a parent's dream. A horrifying image appears in children's videos and on their messaging apps, instructing them to harm themselves and others or even to commit suicide. And the worst thing is that it's been going on for much longer than anyone realized. Our nightmares have a new face. Reports have been circulating about a “challenge” appearing on WhatsApp and YouTube and targeted at young children. Children will watch a YouTube video that appears to be a children's television program and they will see Momo during a jarring intermission. Alternatively, they will simply seek out Momo on a messaging app like WhatsApp. A scary face frightening children is only the beginning, however. “Momo” then challenges children, sometimes in stages. Ultimately, this challenge — like some other disturbing pranks played on children — can cause them to harm themselves. Some of these messages include instructions on how to commit suicide. Others are even more insidiious. One of the reports circulating on social media said that children were instructed by “Momo” to turn on a gas stove while everyone is asleep. That report was not confirmed, but sends chills down people's spines. The first reports of this challenge arose in the summer of 2018. So why haven't children been raising the alarm? Why are most people only hearing about it now? For one thing, the children who are targeted are the youngest demographics, usually with ages in the single digits. But most significantly, some of the Momo material threatens to hurt or kill the parents of children who tell. Since this story began circulating, we've also seen stories of parents asking their children about it, only to have the children burst into tears of fear and relief. Little kids rarely have the life experience or perspective to understand when a threat is or is not plausible. There is no doubt that the Momo Challenge has scared the pants off of plenty of people, including young children and concerned parents. There is, however, good news. As multiple outlets have reported after taking a good, hard look at the story, there's less danger than there appears. While a small number of international deaths have been “linked to” Momo, there is no proof that they died because of the challenge. In fact, Forbes reports that this story has spread out of proportion among worried parents, not unlike past viral pranks. It's not that no one ever ate Tide Pods or that no teen has ever ingested hand sanitizer in an effort to get drunk. It's just that people perceive it as having happened much more than it actually did. Parenting experts recommend that parents use this as an opportunity to talk to their children about dangers on the internet. This includes strangers, pranks, and the “challenge culture” that infests parts of social media. It's also a good idea for parents to reconsider giving very young children unfiltered access to YouTube. We would make a radical suggestion that parents spend time around their wee ones so that they can always see or at least hear what they're watching. You know what's really sad? The face seen as “Momo” is originally a sculpture by an artist named Midori Hayashi. It's a fine piece, and was never meant to be used like this.

Source: Max Hirschberger / Solange Over a year ago, I penned a piece on HelloBeautiful, How Black Hollywood Is Failing The Black Press , exploring how the difficulties of working as a Black journalist becomes exasperated by the prejudice we face on red carpets and the propensity for Black talent to trust white outlets with their stories and breaking news over us. The article went viral, sparking industry wide conversations about the importance of Black press in preserving our narratives. The moment made its way to the eyes and ears of some of Hollywood’s A-Listers, with BlackTreeTV journalist Jaleesa Lashay asking actor Sterling K Brown about the invisibility of Black journalists in the press room for the Sag Awards. Actor and comedian Lil Rel also tackled the issue head on, telling audiences at the MTV Movie Awards that he would always look to speak to Black journalists first on the red carpets he attends to bridge the discrimination gap. With numerous examples of Black stars coming forward to express their support and dedication for the Black Press over the past couple of months,  Solange’s partnership with BlackPlanet is a build up of a year’s worth of momentum. BlackPlanet was launched in 2001 when the Internet was still infantile and computers weren’t pocket sized or convenient. Within the realm of endless possibilities for content, creator Omar Wasow sought to carve out a unique space for Black voices and Black connections online. Keep in mind, Wasow’s stroke of genius precludes the mammoth social media era kicked off by MySpace (2003) and Facebook (2004.). As always, Black people were ahead of the trend, forecasting that one day we would all look to create little webpage extensions of our personalities and lives on the web. In the height of BlackPlanet’s reign, we all immediately became web designers before we even knew the career existed—creatively using copy and paste HTML code to customize our pages with our favorite songs, patterns and designs. Beyond our personalized content, BlackPlanet formed its own online community, chock-full of opportunities to share news and gossip, build friendships, and most importantly,  make love connections with a stranger. As social networking exploded into an Internet phenomenon, fickle audiences migrated to mainstream platforms, forgetting the sacred temple we had built for our memories and conversations in our own online tribe. This is why Solange’s desire to collaborate with BlackPlanet, the Black owned digital arm of the Urban One family, is such a pivotal industry shift. For once, mainstream outlets had to flock to a Black owned URL to find the latest project from a Black star. In a normal news cycle we are chasing the latest Twitter Trend, today, Black folks owned the conversation first. If this triumphant moment is a any indication to how Black celebs X Black press can work in tandem to drive the culture forward, the future looks bright and gorgeous AF. Jordyn Woods might be starting to think she can move on from her affair with Tristan Thompson and put the whole ugly mess behind her. Then again, she’s known the Kardashians long enough to realize that these women know how to hold a grudge, and they’re big believers in the power of revenge. As you’ve likely heard by now, Jordyn slept with Tristan Thompson after the two of them got flirty at a February 17 house party. This made major waves within the Kard clan, as Jordyn was Kylie Jenner’s best friend, and Tristan was dating Khloe Kardashian at the time. Obviously, as soon as word got out, Khloe dumped Tristan and Kylie kicked Jordyn out of her guesthouse . And that was the end of that, right? Well, not entirely. For obvious reasons, Jordyn does not want to lose her friendship with the woman who will soon be the world’s youngest billionaire. And so, she’s working hard to justify her actions. Two events are central to Jordyn’s version of events — it was a one-time mistake, and she was hammered. In fact, Jordyn claims she was so drunk that she doesn’t even remember hooking up with Tristan. Unfortunately for her, the Kards aren’t buying it. “Khloe doesn’t believe that it was a one-time thing, and neither do the rest of the Kardashians,” a source close to the situation tells Radar Online. “She hired a PI to find out how long they had been having an affair,” the insider adds. “If it turns out that it was an ongoing thing, Khloe is going to use this on the upcoming season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” Basically, it sounds like Khloe wants to dig up enough dirt to justify banning Jordyn from the Kardashians’ inner circle for good. “As far as Jordyn goes, Khloe and Kylie have already gotten their revenge because Jordyn has been blacklisted by the entire family,” says the source. “No one wants anything to do with her, and if it turns out that she was having an ongoing affair with Tristan, there will be serious hell to pay.” Something tells us Jordyn’s not out of the woods quite yet. Oliver Maier: Dating Danielle Staub!

After a lot of heartbreak and multiple restraining orders , Danielle Staub finalized her divorce from Marty Caffrey just days ago. Now, she has revealed that she is in a new relationship. As you can imagine, Marty has something to say about it. The 56-year-old The Real Housewives of New Jersey star was spotted with a man at the beach at St. Bart’s. In fact, when she was seen on Monday, February, 25, Danielle was kissing him. (She later uploaded a photo, which you can see above) Us Weekly reports that the man in question is a businessman. His name is Oliver Maier. According to an inside source, “They are dating and very much in love.” It was on Thursday, February 21 that Danielle and Marty finalized their divorce. Ultimately, they were married for less than a year. The pair had been estranged even while living in the same house and had filed multiple restraining orders against each other. With that in mind, they were married in life for an even shorter time than they were on paper. It sounds safe to say that getting the divorce over with was a relief. Eyewitnesses said that the two of them barely looked at each other as they signed away their marriage. Danielle Staub previously revealed that booze ruined her marriage, though it was only one factor. She alleged that Marty was verbally and emotionally abusive. “There isn’t one woman that he’s had a conversation with that could say that he’s not an abusive man,” she said late last year. “It’s erratic behavior and it’s constant. I mean, constant,” she emphasized. “There’s not letting off that gas,” Danielle characterized. Speaking of things never letting up, Danielle really had to struggle to end the marriage. Why? Because, for a time, Marty apparently wasn’t willing to end their union without a fight. Romantic comedies may drive home the idea that people shouldn’t give up on their relationships. But if a marriage is toxic, it’s toxic, and fighting for your love is just going to make one or both of you miserable. “Danielle is extremely relieved this toxic situation is coming to a close,” an insider said on Thursday. “And,” that source continued, Danielle “looks forward to getting her life back.” In the mean time, they are apparently still living in the same house — according to Marty. (Guys, this was nuts even when they were married; I don’t care how big your house is, do not live with your ex if you can afford to move) “I don’t know him,” Marty tells Us . “Danielle still lives here.” “They couldn’t be dating any more than a week or two,” he assesses. “But that doesn’t matter to me.” And he had more to say. … “I hope he’s the one to write the check and buy my house and contents and pay her outstanding debt to me,” Marty expresses. This is still not a good enough reason for them to be living together. It’s bonkers.
