Kush Chronic-les: Sean Paul Quits Smoking Dem Tweeds, But Still Gets His Greenery Drinking Dank Tea

“We Be Burnin’” Reggae Artist Sean Paul Trades Smoking MaryJane For Sipping “Green” Tea SEAN PAUL has released hit singles called We Be Burnin’, Gimme The Light and Ever Blazin’ – yet there are few references to smoking tweeds on his new album, Tomahawk Technique. Laughing down the phone to The Sun, he explains why: “I’ve found a different method to, how shall I say, consume. I make tea with it every day now.” The Jamaican star continues: “I don’t smoke any more. After 15, 16 years of smoking every day it was bad for my voice. I was having trouble breathing, man. “Giving up has opened my chest out and made me able to sing better. “I haven’t smoked for two years now. I have a cup of tea every mornin’ and I’m good for the day.” Sounds like our cup of tea! Sean Paul put us on with some brewing tips please! Source WENN More On Bossip! Madonna Set To Score Eighth #1 Album

MDNA will likely sell up to 350,000 copies in its first week, according to Billboard. By Jocelyn Vena Madonna’s MDNA Photo: Interscope Madonna probably doesn’t need to stop by any of Piers Morgan’s talk shows to sell albums. The Material Girl is poised to have the #1 album on the Billboard albums chart next week. MDNA is estimated to sell between 300,000 and 350,000 copies by the end of the tracking week (Sunday), according to Billboard . The album, which dropped on March 26, marks Madonna’s fifth consecutive studio album to land in the top spot. She’s had a total of eight #1 albums in her career. 2008’s Hard Candy, her last studio album, debuted with 280,000 units sold, meaning that Madonna will once again even top herself with MDNA if the numbers shake out as expected. For the album, Madonna reunited with her Ray of Light producer William Orbit, as well as other electronic-music producers like Martin Solveig and Benny Benassi, creating an album that ranges from hard-hitting dance tracks to lighthearted pop affairs. Madge’s record sales were reinforced thanks to a joint album/ concert-ticket sale venture through which fans were offered the chance to purchase the release along with tickets to her highly anticipated world tour. But Madonna isn’t the only 1980s superstar expected to sit high atop the Billboard 200 next week. Lionel Richie’s Tuskegee should place at #2 with 125,000 to 150,000 albums sold. The album features re-workings of some of Richie’s biggest tunes with the assistance of country stars like Shania Twain and Blake Shelton. Billboard points out the last time Madge and Richie were in the top five together was in October 1986 when Richie was at #1 with Dancing on the Ceiling while the Queen of Pop’s onetime #1 True Blue was settled at #5. Justin Bieber’s own big release, his new single “Boyfriend,” which also dropped Monday, is also expected to have a big week on the charts. According to early estimates, the lead Believe single could sell more than 400,000 downloads in its first week, giving it a big push on next week’s Billboard Hot 100 chart. This would give the singer his best sales week for a song to date. Related Artists Madonna

Fergie Shoots Down ‘X Factor’ Rumors

‘It’s not the right time,’ singer tells MTV News. By Christina Garibaldi Fergie Photo: MTV News NEW YORK — Fergie has been lying low since the Black Eyed Peas announced they were going on an indefinite hiatus back in November. Yet on Wednesday, the Internet was abuzz with rumors that she might fill Paula Abdul or Nicole Scherzinger ‘s “X Factor” judging seats. But that’s all news to Fergie herself. “I have no idea how this keeps coming back, it’s crazy!” she told MTV News on Thursday (March 22) at the Voli Light Vodka Brunch in New York. “I know that my managers and agents have been in touch with the ‘X Factor’ both last season and this season, but both times it’s not the right time.” In April 2010, Fergie was mentioned as a potential judge , but much like this time around, she felt she couldn’t give the contestants the commitment they would need from a mentor. “I can’t commit all the energy that these contestants deserve,” Fergie said. “This is their career, and right now, I’ve got different plants in my garden that are going on, and that’s a really big tree that would take a lot of nurturing and energy. It’s just not the right time right now.” It might not be the right time for Fergie, but it could be the right time for Britney Spears. The pop star was reportedly offered $10 million to join Simon Cowell and L.A Reid on the judging panel. So does Fergie think Spears would be a good fit? “I think whatever they do … Simon’s a genius and he’ll make the right decision,” Fergie said. “And it will all work out.” Even though Fergie won’t be mentoring this season’s “X Factor” contestants, that doesn’t mean she won’t be tuning in. “I love Simon and I’ll be watching the show,” Fergie said. “I’m excited to watch — but at home in my pajamas.” Do you think Fergie would make a good “X Factor” mentor? Katy Perry Videos: Our Five Favorites

As we count down to the premiere of her ‘Part of Me’ video, MTV News picks our favorite Katy Perry clips to date. By Vaughn Trudeau Schoonmaker Katy Perry Photo: EMI We’re just a couple days away from “MTV First: Katy Perry,” when the pop star will premiere the music video for her #1 hit, “Part of Me” on MTV. As her seventh #1 single, “Part of Me” has a long line of awesome videos to live up to. And as we count down the hours to the video premiere at 7:23 p.m. on Wednesday, it seems like an opportune time to look back at our five favorite Katy Perry videos so far. #5: “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)” This Marc Klesfeld-directed, 8-minute mini-movie opened with Kathy Beth Terry waking up the morning after throwing quite the rager, wearing absurd head gear and dreadful overalls. While this was not Katy’s first foray into the comedic music video genre by any means, this was the first time that she pulled all hands on deck to maximize the laughs with meaningful cameos from a glassy-eyed Darren Criss, Kevin McHale as a love interest, the mentoring of Friday expert Rebecca Black, Corey Feldman, Hanson, Debbie Gibson and, of course, Kenny G. Complete with dream sequences, beautiful fluorescent leggings a la 1985, a rooster and end credits that clearly save the best for last, “T.G.I.F.” is hands-down Katy’s most fun video to date. #4: “I Kissed a Girl” Rewatching the video for her first #1 hit, we see a personality far more timid and sex kitten-ish than the Katy Perry we know now. But we still recognize strong visual themes that are scattered throughout her more recent videos, live performances and magazine spreads. Director Kinga Burza brought us bizarre yet compelling imagery that seems to have set the tone for all videos to follow. The pink-and-red color scheme creates a burlesque backdrop around Katy’s former 1940s-pin-up-girl look that she hit the big pop scene with in 2008. We get to see a cat (not Kitty Purry technically, but perhaps a nod?), a pretty cake (confection!), and a pillow fight with a group of scantily clad women (including a pre-famous Ke$ha). The video ends with her waking up to realize the whole video was a dream, and she happens to be sharing a bed with a man who looks suspiciously similar to her then-boyfriend, Travie McCoy. #3: “California Gurls” This now-iconic video set the Candyland theme Perry took on the road with her for the sold-out California Dreams World Tour . As Snoop Dogg plays a naughty game of “Candyfornia,” the game piece, Ms. Perry, is faced with obstacles in the Mathew Cullen-directed adventure, including an army of pissed-off Gummy Bears and sinister candy snake vines. The obstacles are no match for her whipped cream-shooting bikini top and her happy-go-lucky demeanor she maintains while lying nude on some of the prettiest cotton candy clouds ever spotted. Her lavender, blue and black wigs foreshadowed Perry’s constantly-changing hair styles we see today. The visual effects in the video, surprisingly intricate for such a silly and sweet concept, transform Katy’s homeland California with all of its picturesque landscapes into a tantalizing Willy Wonka land where everything is edible, including the Hollywood sign. The video also marked Katy’s first noteworthy choreographed dancing, which was a new territory not explored from her One of the Boys era of videos. #2: “Firework” Katy Perry looks like a princess in this Budapest-set, Dave Meyers-directed tearjerker (happy tears!) that led the way for anti-bullying anthems even before Pink’s “F—in’ Perfect” and Lady Gaga’s Born This Way . Featuring a child cancer patient, a boy whose parents are fighting, a girl struggling with her weight and a teenage boy with a same-sex love interest, Katy Perry’s message of “igniting the light” is loud and clear as fireworks burst from everyone’s chest and purple streaks in one’s hair have never looked so good. #1: “The One That Got Away” Marking her second collaboration with director Floria Sigismondi following “E.T.,” “The One That Got Away” takes the top prize because of its clever jumps through time, a convincing old-lady makeover, Diego Luna’s spicy cameo, and Perry managing to look more beautiful than ever amid a fascinating emotional breakdown. Set against the backdrop of California panoramas, this music video neatly ties together the imagery she introduced us to in her equally gorgeous video for “Teenage Dream,” while letting the story of love and loss run wild, giving Katy the chance to show us the extent of her talent, as she showed her high potential for dramatic acting. Can Katy Perry top this list with “Part of Me”? Find out when during “MTV First: Katy Perry,” when the pop star will debut the video at 7:23 p.m. ET on MTV, followed by an 30-minute interview with MTV News’ James Montgomery on MTV.com. Immediately following the premiere of “Part of Me” on MTV, the video for the deeply emotional single will air on Logo, debut on MTV.com, VH1.com and LOGOtv.com, and go into rotation on mtvU, MTV Hits and AMTV the following morning. Additionally, the video will debut on Saturday, March 24, at 9 a.m. ET/PT during VH1’s “Top 20 Countdown” and on TeenNick’s “Obsess This” music block at 7 a.m. ET and Sunday, March 25, at 8:30 a.m. ET. Madonna’s MDNA: Swallowing It One Pill At A Time

MTV News takes a look at why Madge’s upcoming album is a drug worth taking. By Jocelyn Vena Madonna’s MDNA Photo: Interscope Madonna wants us to dance the heartbreak away on MDNA. The record, set to drop on March 26, has some of the finest musical moments we’ve heard from the pop legend in the last few years, recalling the finer songs and themes she explored on Ray of Light and Confessions on a Dance Floor. It’s clear that Madge had her heart broken, most likely by her former hubby and British auteur, Guy Ritchie. She explores the pain of life post-divorce on many of the songs on the album, and most of the time, it works perfectly. Madonna really understands heartbreak and she understands even better how it can empower someone to be a better person. While all the buzz seems to be about “I Don’t Give A” and the bit too on-the-nose confessions she makes about her divorce (where she even sings about falling off a horse), her anger is even darker on the William Orbit-produced “Gang Bang.” Sparse at times and always punctuated by a pulsing beat, it’s incredibly hard. It’s the type of record you’d expect to hear at some after-hours club that your really edgy friend knows about. It’s about falling completely in love and falling more deeply into hate when it’s over. Serving as a pop-song revenge fantasy, Madonna sings, “And I’m going straight to hell/ And I’ve got a lot of friends there/ And if I see that b—- in Hell/ I’m gonna shoot him in the head again/ Cause I wanna see him die/ Over and over and over.” On the disco-tinged “Love Spent,” Madge sings about feeling like nothing more than a bank to a former lover (she did have one very costly breakup from Ritchie), and on the remorseful, melodic “Best Friend,” she admits, “Your picture’s off the wall, but I’m still waiting for your call/ And every man that walks through the door/ Will be compared to you.” “Superstar” is light and airy, recalling some of the singer’s highlights from the ’80s. The mid-tempo’s production, which comes courtesy of Hardy “Indiigo” Muanza, certainly helps distract from some of the sillier lyrics that have Madonna comparing her boy toy to famed dudes like Al Capone and James Dean. If anyone was wondering why she called the album MDNA, all they need to do is look to “I’m Addicted,” the super club-thumping track full of bleeping noises, spare moments and then big chugging ones, which are filled out with loopy instances. It’s about letting go and loving someone completely: “Now that your name/ Pumps like blood in my veins/ Pulsing through my body, lighting my mind/ It’s like MDNA and that’s OK.” MDNA, of course, is also known as ecstasy, giving the track the perfect metaphor for love on the dance floor. While most of the album addresses the highs and lows of falling in love, “Some Girls” is all about Madonna proclaiming her awesomeness. Another Orbit jam, it’s a crunchy, robotic, thumping anthem that puts Madonna right in the center of female empowerment. “I’m not like the rest,” she proclaims, as if anyone would ever question that. “Some girls are second best.” On the chorus, she declares, “Some girls are not like me/ I’m everything you’ve ever dreamed of/ I got you begging please.” One of the highlights is “Turn Up the Radio,” which sounds like it was born to be this summer’s feel-good anthem. It’s bright, happy and fun, all about letting go of the past. Over Martin Solveig’s sunny production, Madge sings, “It was time I opened my eyes/ I’m leaving the past behind/ Nothing’s ever what it seems/ Including this time and this crazy dream.” She’s not wrong to be that confident on this album. She’s certainly in the groove. And the album is full of strength, but it’s also her vulnerability that rounds it out. If fans thought link type=”content” id=”1678478″> “Give Me All Your Luvin’ ” and “Girl Gone Wild” are what this era is all about, they are only seeing pieces of the MDNA puzzle, that’s only completed when listening to the album from front to back. In the end, this album is a drug worth taking. Are you counting down the days to the release of MDNA ? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Madonna

Yes, They’re Really Going to Make an Animal House Musical

When we think of the 1978 skinema classic Animal House , a few things come to mind: Jack Daniels, toga parties, and Mary-Louise Weller’ s boobs (ok, mostly just Mary-Louise Weller’s boobs). And when we think of Broadway, it brings to mind exactly…none of those things. Nevertheless, Universal Stage Productions is going full steam ahead on the unlikeliest entertainment hybrid since Pride and Predator : Animal House: The Musical . The AP reports: “Animal House: The Musical” will feature an original score by the band Barenaked Ladies … The 1978 film’s cast included John Belushi, Tom Hulce, Bruce McGill, Tim Matheson, Stephen Furst and Karen Allen. It explored how one frat house, Delta Tau Chi, made sloth and debauchery look cool.” Less Barenaked Ladies and more real naked ladies, please. With ticket prices sure to go into the $100+ range, there better be something to see that you can’t get on the Blu-ray (or here at Mr. Skin ). And we don’t mean Bluto tripping the light fantastic. Look. I know I post a lot of time lapse videos. But that’s because they’re so cool! Still, I’m getting choosy, and trying only to put up ones that are different in some way: ones filmed at an odd perspective, ones showing something different in the sky or foreground, or ones that have an unusually bigger feel and sweep to them. So when I say I have one that’s really good, well, I mean it. So sit back,… Broadcasting platform : Vimeo Source : DiscoverMagazine Discovery Date : 02/03/2012 20:22 Number of articles : 2

Whitney Houston ‘Never Forgot’ Her Roots, Fans Say

‘She meant a lot to us, she never forgot where she came from,’ a fan tells MTV News on the day of her funeral. By Rob Markman Whitney Houston in East Orange, NJ in 1987 Photo: Ron Galella/WireImage NEWARK, New Jersey — It was a day of both sadness and celebration as Whitney Houston ‘s fans gathered in her birthplace to mourn the death of the fallen pop diva on Saturday (February 18). Police set up blockades on the streets surrounding New Hope Baptist Church , keeping the public several blocks away from the private funeral in every direction. On the corner of Orange and Nesbitt streets, a group of fans gathered to sing some of Houston’s biggest hits like “The Greatest Love of All” and “I Will Always Love You” . On Sussex Avenue, about four blocks from the church, another group of fans gathered. A Philadelphia artist who goes by the name Mark G. drew a portrait of Houston, which he had fans sign. By the time MTV News interviewed him he had gathered hundreds of loving notes and signatures, and the artist said he plans to give the portrait to Whitney’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina, as a present through a connection he said he has with the family. “Whitney was connected to the fans, and when she left, she shined her light and this is something creatively that I did that connects the people to Whitney,” Mark G. explained of the artwork he created in ballpoint pen. “My heart goes out to the Whitney Houston family,” Miami native Karin Collins said. “I feel so bad, I was crying all last night. I’m blasting her music in my car everyday and I just feel so bad and my heart goes out to Bobbi Kristina as well as her grandmother [Cissy Houston].” While fans were mostly upbeat and positive, some Newark residents were upset by the decision to keep the service private without holding a bigger public send-off at the much larger Prudential Center, as was first rumored. “It was sad that they didn’t have it in the Prudential Center, I don’t know why they didn’t do that,” Brian Collins said. “All the fans in Newark could’ve came out and just gave their all in all out to her, pay tribute to Whitney Houston. She meant a lot to us, she never forgot where she came from and I love you Whitney.” With things as they were logistically, fans might have been more comfortable watching the invite-only funeral from home anyway. But the crowds that assembled at each police check-point wanted to feel closer to the ceremony. On Norfolk Street off Central Avenue, about 75 people surrounded a CNN transmission truck and watched as R. Kelly sang a spirited rendition of “I Look to You,” a song that he penned for Houston in 2009. After the funeral an excited group waited on Central Avenue hoping to see some of the ceremony’s high-profile guests as they filed out. There were no sightings of Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys , Kevin Costner or any other celebrity from the fans’ vantage point, but when Whitney Houston’s golden hearse turned onto Central, fans gave the musical icon one last cheer. Foo Fighters Have A ‘Big Idea’ For New Album

‘[We’re going to record it] in space. To tape,’ frontman Dave Grohl says of follow-up to Wasting Light. By James Montgomery Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl Photo: Peter Wafzig/ Getty Images Hours before Dave Grohl cemented his status as the secret MVP of the 54th Grammy Awards with a Jeremy Lin-like performance that included a Slayer T-shirt, a time-limit-be-damned acceptance speech and a three-minute guitar duel with Bruce Springsteen, the Foo Fighters frontman was in the mood to celebrate. After all, by the time the Foos chatted with MTV News on the Grammy red carpet, they had already won an armload of awards, including Best Rock Album , Best Rock Song and Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance (“I feel so bad for the Dream Theater guy,” Grohl joked). So when we asked him for details on his upcoming documentary — and rumors of an accompanying album — well, Grohl let the details spill forth like so much celebratory champagne. “We released a teaser trailer … there may be an album that accompanies [it],” Grohl said. “I recorded a lot of songs with a lot of people in the past couple months. There used to be a recording studio called Sound City that was in the San Fernando Valley. Nirvana recorded there in 1991. It was this really beautiful dump in the middle of a warehouse district. A lot of great records were made there. “Fleetwood Mac made records there; Neil Young made records there. Tom Petty, Cheap Trick, Dio, Ratt, Pat Benatar, Rick Springfield, Rage Against the Machine did their first record there, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica … Evel Knievel, Charles Manson recorded there, Barry White, Johnny Cash,” he continued. “So I interview them to tell the history of the studio, but then I invite them back to record with me, and we make a record.” While there’s still no firm release date for either the “Sound City” film or soundtrack, it’s not the only project on Grohl’s plate at the moment: There’s also the matter of the Foos’ follow-up to the Grammy-winning Wasting Light album, which will once again re-team the band with producer Butch Vig and may very well re-up the “no computers” ethos employed during the making of that disc. Grohl will admit that there is an ambitious recording plan in place, though he wouldn’t reveal the details just yet. “We have an idea. It’s kind of a really big idea,” he said. “[We’re going to record it] in space. To tape. An analog moonshot.” What are you hoping to see on the Foo Fighters’ next album? Leave your comment below!
