Kanye West To Return To ‘The Cleveland Show’

Lindsay Lohan and John Mayer get called out in some preview rhymes from season-two premiere. By Jayson Rodriguez Kanye West and Cleveland Jr. on “The Cleveland Show” Photo: FOX Kanye West is set to reprise his role as Kenny West on “The Cleveland Show” in the show’s season-two premiere. According to Entertainment Weekly, West’s character is down on his luck after being a rapper on the rise and the title character, Cleveland Brown, is attempting to help the high school artist make a comeback. The animated pair work on a track titled “Be-Cleve in Yourself” that will supposedly mark Kenny West’s comeback. “Not long ago, I was lower than Lohan,” he raps. “No plan, a lost man, raising my little girl in a Cadillac Brougham/ My quest success, but my life was a mess/ Poor Kenny West, no zest, and he depressed/ Not dressed to impress/ Matter fact, more stress than John Mayer waiting on his AIDS test.” In May, Kenny West first popped up on “The Cleveland Show” at a rap battle. His character was a hot shot who butted heads with Cleveland Jr. over West’s girlfriend. The two traded cheap shots, and their feud came to a head at the big dance when they directed lyrical barbs at each other. “It’s Kenny sippin’ Henny/ Rhymes slicker than Teflon,” West boasted. “The school been high, I’m the black Zac Efron/ And when I meet a shorty, you know we going backwards/ Pulling more tail than my man John Edwards/ Lumpy, chunky, boogie-eating chump, B/ Acting out of place like Hootie singing country/ Leave my girl alone and get your own tenderoni/ Come on, who are we kidding?/ You’re used to being lonely.” Junior fired back, though, with a takedown rap of his own. “Mess with me, homeboy, you don’t wanna risk it,” he spits. “I run you like Mrs. Freemon’s god-awful brisket.” In trademark fashion,

2010 VMAs Nab MTV’s Biggest Ratings Since 2002

Awards show was the third-most-watched telecast on MTV ever. By Kelley L. Carter Chelsea Handler onstage during the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards scored the biggest audience for any MTV telecast since 2002. The VMAs grabbed 11.4 million viewers and is the #1 cable telecast of 2010 for the network, followed by MTV’s hit reality series “Jersey Shore,” and the third-most-watched telecast on MTV ever. There were plenty of must-watch moments at this year’s awards show, and the buzz building days before the show about surprise performers likely contributed to the sizable turnout. This year’s show saw much-anticipated performances by Taylor Swift (who debuted a new song addressing last year’s controversy with Kanye West) and West himself, who also debuted a new song that seemed to address his fall from pop-culture grace. The show also featured performances by rappers Eminem, Drake and Best New Artist winner Justin Bieber. Newcomer Nicki Minaj and Black Eyed Peas mastermind Will.I.Am performed together at the VMA pre-show. Host Chelsea Handler opened up the show with a skit that featured Lindsay Lohan . In the pre-taped clip, the comedienne makes her way to the stage (and gets slapped on the butt a couple of times along the way). She meets up with the troubled actress, who pokes fun at her own struggles with sobriety before giving Handler a bit of advice: “Don’t embarrass me.” “Every year, MTV celebrates the music and creative genius of artists we have the privilege of working with all year long,” said Van Toffler, president of the MTV Networks Music & Logo Group. “Last night’s luminescent VMA setting provided the perfect backdrop to do just that and we’re thrilled the audience resoundingly agreed.” Share your VMA reviews in the comments! VMAs In 60 Seconds: Meaty Togs And Soulful Songs

We sum up the night, from Lady Gaga’s outfits to Taylor Swift’s ‘innocent’ track, in a minute. By Josh Wigler and Jim Cantiello Eminem and Rihanna perform at the 2010 VMAs on Sunday Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Between fits of laughter and streams of tears, shiny Moonmen and meat dresses aplenty, the 2010 MTV Music Video Awards were not to be missed. Sunday’s award ceremony was jam-packed with memorable moments that caught even the most casual viewer off guard, and while summarizing the entire show in 60 seconds might seem like an impossible feat, the MTV News team is always up for a challenge! Although the purpose of the evening was to celebrate and honor the greatest musical achievements of the year, some of the show’s performers couldn’t stop themselves from embracing their sadder sides, with melancholy tunes coming from the likes of Linkin Park , Taylor Swift and even Eminem . In fact, it was Slim Shady himself that kicked off the VMAs with his opening performance of “Not Afraid,” which he followed up with a brief rendition of domestic violence-themed “Love the Way You Lie” alongside surprise special guest Rihanna. (Well, gossip sites pretty much ruined that surprise for everyone but Jane Lynch, actually.) It wasn’t all doom and gloom, though. Host Chelsea Handler broke the tension on more than one occasion, with fake pregnancies and awkward encounters with Lindsay Lohan among her many highlights. Justin Bieber tore up the dance floor with some similarly sized pals, while his mentor, Usher, literally wheeled around through “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love” and “OMG.” With 13 nominations to her name, Lady Gaga easily went on to be the big winner of the night, walking away with a walloping eight awards. But even she wasn’t immune to the charms of celebrity culture, as she found herself awed by the mere presence of Cher. “I never thought I’d ask Cher to hold my meat purse,” Gaga proudly exclaimed. We always suspected you would, though, Gaga. While the night focused mainly on the musical highlights of the past year, there was no side-stepping the VMAs of yesteryear — after all, how could Taylor Swift and Kanye West possibly ignore each other entirely after last year’s awkward encounter? The singer-songwriter offered what could be perceived as a thinly veiled message of forgiveness toward West in her new song that states: “32 is still growing up now/ Who you are is not what you did/ You’re still an innocent.” Indeed, the VMAs came full circle as Kanye closed out the night with his performance of “Runaway,” proposing a musical toast to “the douche bags, the a–holes” and “the scumbags.” If Swift forgave West earlier in the evening, a similar olive branch was offered again as the audience continuously cheered Kanye’s name, signaling the end of yet another successful round of Video Music Awards. Chelsea Handler’s Best VMA Moments

Host chases Justin Bieber, mocks Lady Gaga, gets visit from Lindsay Lohan By Kara Warner Chelsea Handler hosting the 2010 MTV VMAs Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images From the self-deprecating teaser promos leading up to the show to her haphazard Lady Gaga impersonation to countless brazen one-liners and a skit involving spontaneous impregnation courtesy of a quick dip in the “Jersey Shore” hot tub, Chelsea Handler nailed her first-time VMA-hosting gig. The sassy and outspoken E! talk-show host kicked things off with a pre-taped video, in which she was repeatedly smacked on the rear at random, as well as given a brutal coaching session from Lindsay Lohan. Here’s a rundown of our fave Chelsea Handler VMA moments: Her entrance/monologue Handler dropped down to the stage amidst a group of dancers, wearing a house on her head and a glittery outfit. Once in place to deliver her opening remarks, she told the crowd: “My plan was to stay sober the entire show, but, in an interesting twist, I am as high as a kite. That’s the last time I do a prayer circle with Snoop Dogg.” Speaking about the fact that the last time a woman hosted the show was Roseanne Barr in 1994, Handler poked fun at some of the nominees’ activities that particular year. “Justin Timberlake was in the Mickey Mouse Club pretending he wasn’t having sex with Britney Spears,” Handler joked. “‘The Situation’ was just a classy way to refer to a teenage pregnancy. And Justin Bieber’s mom had just given birth to her 401k plan.” The Best New Artist 2010 Meet and Greet sketches In another pre-taped video segment, Handler hilariously introduced herself to the Best New Artist nominees, including Ke$ha and Justin Bieber. Handler admitted a bit of a crush on the “Tik Tok” singer, and made the clip with Bieber memorable by accusing the teen star of wearing a wig and chasing him down trying to grab it. Hot tub party with the “Jersey Shore” cast Handler showed she had no problem getting wet and wild. When The Situation hollered out to Handler from their famous hot tub and asked her to join in the fun, she actually walked over and climbed into the tub with JWoww, Snooki and Pauly D. Cut to commercial. When the show came back, Handler complained about feeling disgusting, and when she stood up to get out of the tub, had been spontaneously impregnated. Chelsea Handler Opens VMAs With Lindsay Lohan Skit

‘Don’t embarrass me,’ Lohan warns host in pre-taped segment. By Kelley L. Carter Lindsay Lohan and Chelsea Handler onscreen at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards Photo: WireImage As expected, MTV Video Music Awards host Chelsea Handler opened with a bang. In a pre-taped clip, the comedienne makes her way to the stage (and gets slapped on the butt a couple of times along the way). She meets up with troubled actress Lindsay Lohan, who pokes fun at her own struggles with sobriety before giving Handler a bit of advice: “Don’t embarrass me.” It went over pretty well, as did Handler’s monologue. She dropped down to the stage Lady Gaga-style, wearing a house on her head and a glittery outfit. She punched a clicker and the garage went up, then she dipped her head out and joked, “Sorry. That’s as far as we got in rehearsal.” Her outerwear was removed, revealing a short black dress. She told the crowd, “My plan was to stay sober the entire show, but, in an interesting twist, I am as high as a kite. That’s the last time I do a prayer circle with Snoop Dogg.” Handler talked about the last time a woman — Roseanne Barr — hosted the VMAs, which was in 1994. “Justin Timberlake was in the Mickey Mouse Club pretending he wasn’t having sex with Britney Spears. The Situation was just a classy way to call teenage pregnancy. And Justin Bieber’s mom had just given birth to her 401k plan.” Handler also had a bit of advice for her audience of celebrities: Be bad. “I want to encourage everyone to be on their worst behavior. And I’m not just talking about some predictable awards show girl-on-girl kiss. We’ve all seen that. I’m over that,” she said. “I want to turn this mother out. Get your tongue ready. I want one shoved some places it’s not supposed to be. I’m talking about you, Taylor Swift.” She also chided multiple VMA winner Gaga a couple of times, talking about her fashion choices in music videos. “I’m taking this job very, very seriously tonight. I did my homework and I watched all the videos. The one thing I discovered is that Lady Gaga and Beyonc
