Lindsay Lohan Goes To Jail ‘Accepting Responsibility,’ Lawyer Says

Sheriff’s spokesperson said actress was very ‘cooperative’ as she entered detention facility. By Gil Kaufman Lindsay Lohan with her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley on Wednesday Photo: Mark Ralston/ Getty Images Lindsay Lohan was stoic as she prepared to get handcuffed and taken off to Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California, on Tuesday (July 20) morning. But behind that brave face was a 24-year-old who was frightened of what the next 90 days in jail would be like. “She’s scared as anyone would be,” Lohan’s attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, said after Lohan was escorted away, according to People.com . “But she’s resolute and she’s doing it. … She asks for your prayers and support.” Holley represented Lohan after resigning as her attorney earlier this month and being briefly replaced by by O.J. Simpson attorney Robert Shapiro, who stepped down from the case on Monday. She added that Lohan “is accepting responsibility and [has] stepped up to the plate and is doing what has been asked of her.” Lohan will likely only serve 23 days of her 90-day term due to jail overcrowding, but it will not be easy time, as she will spend nearly 23 hours a day in a 12-by-8-foot cell by herself. In a press conference following Lohan’s transfer, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Steve Whitmore said that the actress was “extremely cooperative” during her booking into jail to serve the sentence for violating the probation on a pair of DUI cases from 2007. Whitmore said the expected length of Lohan’s incarceration would be announced later in the day. “The crowd out here is a little unusual,” Whitmore said after Lohan was delivered to the Lynwood jail. “But inside, it’s business as usual.” According to the Los Angeles Times, after her booking, Lohan entered the jail’s triage, where she was slated to get the standard medical and psychological evaluation. Whitmore said all the usual state guidelines for prisoners would apply to Lohan, though he stressed that “people with notoriety are kept away” from the general jail population for security purposes. An employee at the detention center said the building went into lockdown when Lohan arrived around 10:11 a.m. PT. During that time, employees in the jail’s work-release program were asked to leave early, and inmates were held in their cells without restroom privileges or recreation time. Book Her: Lindsay Lohan Jailed!

Lindsay Lohan is going to jail. The troubled star surrendered in court this morning to begin serving a three-month sentence for violating the probation terms of her 2007 DUI conviction. In reality, Lindsay may spend only about three weeks behind bars, due to the overcrowding of the facility she’s headed to. Assuming she behaves herself. Judge Marsha Revel did not allow the media to capture the exact moment of Linds’ surrender (good for her, bad for us), before ordering her into custody. “At this time, she will be remanded,” the judge said as Lohan was about to be cuffed, adding “All cameras are ordered to be shut off, both still and video.” Revel said Lohan would not be eligible for house arrest or work release. She will also be required to report to probation within 24 hours of her release. Lindsay Lohan did not speak in court this morning. After cameras were shut off, deputies took her away and removed her belongings as old/new lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley and her family looked on. “I love you, Lindsay,” said Michael Lohan, who unfortunately showed. Lindsay will now begin processing at the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood, Calif., where she will spend her sentence, however long that is. Processing entails fingerprinting, photographing (new mug shots!), cell assignment, ankle monitor removal and a wardrobe change (orange jumpsuit!!). Back in 2007, Lohan spent just 84 minutes at this same facility. Not long enough, apparently, to change her destructive behavior in any discernible way. Here’s hoping a few weeks or more does the trick this time around. What will be the biggest obstacle for her, no Twitter, no friends or no cigarettes ? We’ll find out soon enough.

Lindsay Lohan Complains About Media To German GQ

‘If I sneeze, photos are published in which I am said to be weeping bitterly,’ actress says. By Kyle Anderson Lindsay Lohan on the cover of the German edition of GQ Photo: Ellen von Unwerth It was thought that Lindsay Lohan’s last public statement before reporting to a Los Angeles correctional facility to serve a 90-day sentence on Tuesday (July 20) was the message she sent on her fingernail last week. But the German edition of GQ just published their latest issue, which features Lohan on the cover and an interview with the troubled actress inside. (The magazine’s website also features a behind-the-scenes video of her photo shoot.) In the interview, which took place during the Cannes Film Festival and has been translated by Crushable , Lohan doesn’t discuss her legal troubles. Instead, she talks about why she still wants to act and how the media makes that complicated. “When I started working in the industry, I wanted to get to the very top — and I was painted as something completely different from what I really was,” she told the magazine. “Nowadays in Hollywood, it is so much more about celebrities and gossip, which can distract many great actors from their actual ability. The public comes to know so much about these people that it gets superimposed upon on their work in movies. I love what I do, so I have to be able to handle it.” Lohan also expressed frustration at the way she is perceived by the public. “The media creates its images in just seconds, so they can interpret reality as they imagine it,” she said. “If I sneeze, photos are published in which I am said to be weeping bitterly. And if I keep my hand in front of my mouth and nose, it’s the same; I was hungover and had a hard night of heavy partying behind me. You can’t imagine to what extent this has been accepted.” The latest “media image” of Lohan came on Thursday , when gossip site X17 posted a video of the actress apparently entering the sober-living facility Pickford Lofts, which was started by celebrity lawyer Robert Shapiro. Lohan is also said to be hiring Shapiro to represent her after attorney Shawn Chapman Holley quit last week. X17 also posted a video of Shapiro visiting the facility, but the lawyer would not say whether he was representing Lohan. How much do you feel the media is to blame for Lindsay Lohan’s problems?
