Source: Owen Franken / Getty Various online daters were the victims of a stone cold scammer who pocketed $2.1 million. According to USA Today , a New Jersey man named Rubbin Sarpong allegedly conspired to scam more than 30 people out of money using false U.S. military identities. He appeared in Camden federal court last Wednesday on one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, according to U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito. Court documents say that from January 2016 to September 2019, Sarpong and several co-conspirators — many who live in Ghana — reportedly started dating profiles on a number of sites using fake or stolen identities. They posed as U.S. military personnel stationed overseas who needed non-existent gold bars shipped to a U.S. location. Their story explained that military personnel in Syria were awarded in gold bars. “They contacted victims through the dating websites and then pretended to strike up a romantic relationship with them, wooing them with words of love,” reads the criminal complaint. In order to ship the nonexistent gold bars, the conspirators asked their newly wooed lovers for money and they explained that they would reimburse the victims once the gold bars arrived in the U.S. In one instance, a conspirator insisted that he was a U.S. soldier stationed in Syria who had secured bars worth $12 million and needed assistance bringing them over. He sent a woman a false airway bill showing that two trunks with “family treasure” would be sent to her. He included a fake United Nations Identity Card that identified him as a UN delivery agent and an Israeli citizen. The woman wired him more than $93,000 and they had plans to rendezvous at the Baltimore/Washington International Airport on June 13, 2018. The following day, she died by suicide. Investigators say that Sarpong and his accomplices used various email accounts and Voice Over Internet protocol phone numbers to communicate with victims and tell them where to wire money. Every now and then, victims would also send money via personal and cashier’s checks. After payments were received, the funds were withdrawn in cash, wired to other domestic bank accounts and wired to conspirators in Ghana. The ultimate scam. Sarpong was even bold enough to flaunt his earnings on social media, according to authorities. He was found posting picture of himself with large wads of cash, high-end cars and expensive jewelry. At one point in March 2017, he even posted a photo of himself lounging in a car with a stack of money up to his ear like a cellphone with the caption that read “WakeUp With 100k… One Time. Making A phone Call To Let My Bank Know Am Coming.” He also posted a photo of himself with an unidentified male back in December 2018, writing “BigBusiness Done…Now We Waiting For The Checks To Clear,” according to authorities. Sarpong reportedly received $823,386 throughout the whole scheme. Now, he faces a $250,000 fine and up to 20 years in prison, according to Carpenito.
Jenelle Evans and David Eason are currently attending New York Fashion Week. And they have several messages that they'd like to send to their haters: For starters, Jenelle claims that despite some major hiccups — including a “release date” that came and went with no products appearing in stores or online — her cosmetics line launch is still proceeding as scheduled. On Sunday night, Keeping Up With The Kardashians returned for Season 17. Khloe and Tristan drama took center stage for a lot of reasons, but there is also a medical drama unfolding on the show. Kim has a rash of unexplained symptoms, and when she underwent a medical screening, doctors began to fear the worst. “Today I woke up,” Kim narrates while in the car with Khloe. “And my hands are a bit swollen.” Unlike millions of Americans, who either don't have insurance or can't realistically afford to use it, Kim can go to the doctor about it. “I think it's my anxiety,” Kim then hopefully suggests, noting that her fourth child is on the way via gestational carrier. It is not uncommon for people to suggest that their ailments are psychosomatic in order to brush aside more serious worries. Unfortunately, wishful thinking and denial are not the same as a medical screening. “I just am, like, freaking out,” Kim then says in a voiceover while footage shows her at the hospital. Speaking to the konfessional kamera , Kim says: “I have a baby on the way, I have law school.” “It just really can scare you when you start really thinking about how much this is gonna change my life,” Kim laments. She has already experienced swollen joints, headaches, and general fatigue. At the hospital, she undergoes a screening. And when she hears the results at home, the cameras are there to capture her reaction. “As far as your results …” her doctor tells her as delicately as he can. “Your antibodies are positive for Lupus.” “And,” he continues. “Rheumatoid arthritis.” Those are both devastating autoimmune disorders in which your own immune system turns upon your body and attacks it. Symptoms include agonizing pain, a lowered quality of life, and either condition can shorten life expectancy by decades. Lupus attacks the entire body. Rheumatoid arthritis attacks the body's joints and can warm fingers into gnarled, immobile talons. Kylie may not be a medical expert, but as she sits and listens to her big sister's diagnosis, she visibly tears up. Kim admits to her doctor: “So I don't, like, know what that means.” Dr. Daniel Wallace gives it to her straight: “You'd have, in addition to swollen joints, you'd have fevers, rashes, mouth sores, be really tired.” He does point out that there is absolutely hope. “But,” he notes. “Sometimes you can get false positives with these screenings.” By this point, Kris and Khloe have gathered around to also hear the news. This is when Kim confesses: “I'm freaking out.” Kylie remarks that not knowing for sure is “the scariest part,” which is fair. Through carefully dabbed-away tears, Kim shares: “I'll know on Friday.” Kim did such a good job of staying calm during the call. Afterwards, it's no surprise that she cries. Kris gives Kim some solid advice: “stay really positive until we get some results.” Kim acknowledges how helpful that suggestion is, even if it's difficult or even impossible to follow. “You know, you really do get in your head and think about the worst possible things that can happen,” Kim notes. “So, for the next few days it's gonna be really hell…” she characterizes. Kim admits that she will be “living, wondering what I have, what's going on, and how to fix this.” Things seem bleak now, but hopefully next week's episode will deliver some very good news.

On Saturday (Sept. 7), a public ceremony was held at the Rose Hill Memorial Park and Mortuary in Whittier, California. Reports HipHopDX : According to several Instagram posts, Eazy’s new tombstone is more elaborate but contains the same text as the first one, “We Loved Him A Lot But God Loved Him More.” The updated version, however, features his signature red logo, autograph, the title “The Godfather of Gangsta Rap” written in Old English and several iconic photos of the late gangsta rap pioneer. Toward the bottom it reads, “We Put Compton On The Map.” Eazy-E reportedly passed away in 1995 from complications from AIDS— but not everyone thinks so . Meanwhile, Ghost learned that he can’t really trust anyone when Tommy popped up alive and well at his side chick’s funeral. To make matters worse, his soon to be ex-wife confirmed she knew his former business partner wasn’t dead. The episode closed out with Dre learning of Angela’s death which was the feds worst nightmare fearing he won’t testify against Alicia Jimenez. Dre Has More Than Nine Lives Source: Power / Starz T his week’s episode picks right up where last week’s left off. Jerry is getting ready to take Dre to testify against Alicia Jimenez. Before they can leave the house where they hiding Dre and his daughter, Jerry notices a shadowy figure creepy around the front door. As expected, Jimenez hitmen bust in the safehouse taking out the federal agents left and right leaving just Dre, his daughter and Jerry still alive. With some quick thinking, Jerry manages to take out the remaining thugs but does get shot in the process. Dre seizes the moment to pick up a gun from one of the deceased agents and with no remorse kills a begging Jerry in front of his daughter. With everyone dead, Dre decides to take his daughter and run because he knows the Jimenez will hunt continue to hunt him and his daughter. He doesn’t get too far and is arrested by agents at the train station, and they bring him back into custody. Saxe Is Under Some Serious Pressure Source: Power / Starz S axe is having a hard time trying to prove that Ghost was the one who killed Angela Valdez. The death of Jerry Donovan doesn’t help either and only puts more pressure on him thanks to his new boss. Warner tells Saxe that now it’s his business to see to it that Dre testifies against Alicia Jimenez cause if she somehow walks, Saxe is in big trouble. He also has that illegal bug he gave to Proctor’s ex-wife out there hoping he can get some info from that as well. Speaking of the bug, he hasn’t gotten that smoking gun he needs yet but almost does when Tommy stops by Proctor’s house. Before Tommy can say anything damaging to either him or Ghost, Proctor’s daughter comes back and takes the bookbag with the listening device attached to it upstairs. Saxe also has Dre in his custody now that Jerry is gone, so he plans to use him as well in his quest to get Ghost. Team Tate Is Shaken Up Source: Power / Starz R ashad Tate has big dreams of becoming Governor of NYC and won’t stop at nothing to get there. We saw just how ruthless he is last week when he beat up his campaign manager. This week Tate is knocking boots with the same campaign manager’s girlfriend or wife, either or Councilman Tate is totally foul. While he is having sex with her, he gets a call from the DNC, and they inform him they are sending him a care package to help boost his growing campaign. What Tate doesn’t know that the care package isn’t money, but it’s Ramona Garrity who walks in Tate’s campaign headquarters and fires half his staff. Her job is to “stress test” Tate’s operation on behalf of the DNC before they send any money his way. That also means she wants to know more information about his supporters, especially one James St. Patrick, who has been all over the news. The DNC really wants to win in New York and feel Ramona and her team can make that happen. Now unfortunately for Tate, Ramona popping up might be useful for Ghost. He’s already fed up because nothing is happening with the Queens Child Project building and he is also running low on funds. Garrity seems to have an eye for Ghost, why does it always seem to be the powerful women on this show have a thing for ain’t sh*t men? Ghost can sense the lust, and he’s obviously feeding off it and is working Garrity, so much to the point, she wants to use him and his estranged wife to hammer home Tate’s message locally. Ghost quickly tells Ramona that he and Tasha are heading towards divorce and her eyes light up a like a Christmas tree. Tate is stunned at the revelation, but he can’t go against Garrity. Now, this wouldn’t be Power if there was some sneaky mess going on right? Both Garrity and Tate meet up with Tasha to enlist her help despite Ghost telling them he wants to work alone. Knowing that they need her, Tasha uses the moment to get the daycare license and other things she needs to get her new “legitimate business” off and running. Riq Is Learning The Drug Game Is Hard Source: Power / Starz R iq, aka Ghost 2.0, is the big man on campus now. He’s got some money rolling and a reliable team, but he’s running out of pills to push. He has one stash of pills his dead mentor, Kanan gave him stashed in his deceased sister’s room, but he knows it’s not enough. Riq is quickly learning the drug game isn’t easy but gets comfort from his newest recruit, aka Tasha 2.0. The two have a heart-to-heart convo over a game of chess with Riq revealing a lot is going on in his life. Especially with his dad knowing he lied to him about knowing Tommy was alive. Riq also opens up about his sister’s death and how he feels alone after losing his twin. His new friend/associate assures him she is here for the troubled teen. Before the scene closes, Riq tells her that he has no more pills because his drug connect, Kanan is dead. Will Jason’s Plan To Kidnap Alicia Jiminez Somehow Unite Ghost and Tommy? Source: Power / Starz Jason is really taking advantage of the beef between Ghost and Tommy. Last week he found a way to get money from the former friends and now this week he is using them to take out the competition. Jason hatches a plan to kidnap Alicia Jimenez from federal custody while on her way to trial. Instead of carrying out the scheme himself, he recruits Tommy and Ghost separately giving each of them an incentive if they successfully accomplish the goal. While we really have no idea what Ghost planned to kidnap Alicia, it was Tommy and his goons surprisingly who had the best scheme to capture the drug lord. After Alicia takes a sip of a spiked glass of water that sends her to the bathroom, Tommy’s new ride-or-die chick, Keisha sends her boo the message that Jimenez is passed out in the bathroom. 2-Bit and Spank show up disguised as EMT workers and wheel here out on a stretcher and load her up into a stolen ambulance. Ghost in his very lame disguise is watching all of it go down right before his eyes in disbelief. He immediately wraps up his attempt at kidnapping Alicia and hops in his escape vehicle. Before he can leave he sees Tommy, and they make eye contact with Egan acknowledging he outsmarted Ghost with a tip of his hat. When the drugged Alicia wakes up, she refuses to reveal her trafficking network, her decision to not talk earns her a bullet to the head. With her dead, Saxe no longer needs Dre and threatens to take his daughter away, but if he agrees to help him nail Ghost, Saxe will pull some favors him. Dre reluctantly agrees and even points out he saw Ghost at the courthouse, but Saxe doesn’t believe him. Looks like Dre has his work cut out for him once again. Ghost, of course, is furious and runs to go talk to Proctor about his failed kidnapping attempt. While breaking the down the entire situation to his attorney tells him that Tommy stopped by asking for the same info. Ghost also reveals to Proctor that he is broke and needs money as soon as possible. Proctor tells his client to think slowly and asks him who can lend him money? With desperate times come desperate measures with Ghost reaching out to Simon Stern for help. Grey's Anatomy Season 16 will kick off on September 26 on ABC — and, based on the official trailer featured here, the premiere will aim to answer two key questions: What is Meredith doing picking up garage? Is Jackson alive?!? Viewers do basically know the reasoning behind that first query, of course. Meredith, Alex and Richard were all fired to close out Season 15 and Meredith will be performing her court-mandated community service when we see her again this fall. Hence the tagline orange is the new grey that flashes across the screen of this preview. Later in this sneak peek, Bailey (Chandra Wilson) is seen telling other employees that Meredith, Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), and Richard Weber (James Pickens Jr.) no longer work at the hospital due to “criminal activity.” The reactions are priceless. Will Meredith end up working as a doctor once again in the near future? We'd have to imagine. But we're very curious just how she gets her old job back. Elsewhere, the intense promo also portends an ominous outcome to the Disappearance of Jackson Avery. Where is he? Could he actually be dead and gone? It's conceivable, considering the history of this show and how it's unafraid to kill off a series regular. But, SPOILER ALERT, Jesse Williams recently re-upped with the series for two more years. So we think everything is gonna end up being okay for Jackson. He'll survive, at the very least. Showrunner Krista Vernoff previously told TV Line that this wildly anticipated premiere will pick “moments from where we left off” in the Season 15 finale, with “all of the lingering” cliffhangers being addressed “pretty immediately.” That is, Meredith, Richard and Alex receiving pink slips… DeLuca wearing a prison jumpsuit … and Jackson vanishing into thin air/thick fog. Shortly thereafter, however, the episode “will span a little bit of time over the course of the hour.” Color us intrigued. Thursday night was no different. On New York Fashion Week’s opening night at the Daily Front Row Fashion Media Awards, Moore used the red carpet as a call to action. There to accept the “Cover of the Year Award” for her historic Elle magazine cover earlier this year, she rocked a gorgeous red Oscar de la Renta gown, pairing them with long cascading Beads By Aree keepsake earrings that paid homage to 16 Black trans murdered this year. Each gold frame held a picture of women including Jazzaline Ware , Ashanti Carmon , Muhlaysia Booker , and Michelle “Tamika” Washington to name a few. In addition, her clutch had a picture of 17-year-old Bailey Reeves . “ Thank you Aree, for sharing your keepsake earrings so I could bring my sister’s with me tonight,” the 24-year-old Louis Vuitton spokesperson wrote on Instagram. According to W , during her speech, Moore told the crowd, “As you all know, or not, I am Black, and I am trans. Besides, try as he might to come off as a smug dingus who’s only there for the Insta-clout, he still couldn’t have left a worse taste in our mouths than the always-repugnant Jen Harley. Yes, before we get to the detached douchiness of “24,” we have to start at the beginning with Ronnie’s baby mama, who apparently doesn’t know the meaning of “rock bottom.” Thursday’s episode of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation (Now that one cast member is locked up in federal prison, it might be time to change that title. Just sayin.’) began with a birthday party for Ronnie and Jen’s 1-year-old daughter. Not surprisingly, Jen decided to ignore the “birthday” and “1-year-old” parts of that description and instead focus on the paaaaarty! Shots, margaritas, more shots … under normal circumstances, it would have been strange behavior at a toddler’s birthday party. But Jen’s single-minded focus on getting sh-tfaced was made even more bizarre by the fact that Ronnie was newly sober at the time, having just completed 6 weeks of in-patient rehab. It often felt as though Jen was less concerned with getting inappropriately hammered at a child’s birthday party and more concerned with rubbing her freedom to do so in Ronnie’s face, which is … insanely messed up. Speaking of people who are attempting to turn their lives around, Mike Sorrentino factored prominently in the episode despite the fact that he’s still munching down on tortilla pizza in a federal detention center. He made a phone call during little Ariana’s party, and Vinny and Pauly went to visit The Sitch — but not surprisingly, the COs weren’t keen on letting a Shore camera crew onto the grounds. Kinda hard to make the pitch that you’re filming a serious documentary when you’re the show that invented the “smush room.” Getting back to 24 — yeah, obviously it’s tough to judge a relationship on the basis of a single interaction, but on Twitter, fans were unimpressed with Zack’s smug superiority. You’re not gonna find a stronger, more self-possessed woman on reality TV than Jenni — we just hope she’s going into this thing with her eyes wide open.
