Kate Gosselin clearly doesn’t deserve love or companionship, but she may find both on her new dating show . But with all of the talk about Kate Plus Date , she has been slamming reports about a previous relationship. That hasn’t stopped her “non” ex from coming forward and confirming that they dated very seriously for two years. It was widely believed that reality TV villain Kate Gosselin had dated Jeff Prescott. Prescott is a millionaire philanthropist who co-founded Dreamstime. Kate Gosselin took to her Instagram Stories to claim that none of that is true. “I didn’t date him,” the walking nightmare insisted on social media. She went on to warn her fans and followers to never trust “people who sell stories.” We wonder how she defines her career as anything but that. Kate claims that “they are looking for publicity to benefit themselves/their business.” Saying that you dated Kate might get your name or even your business’ name out there. But will it help business? Some people might avoid it like the plague. Speaking to Radar Online , however, Jeff Prescott says that their romance was not fake news. They didn’t just go on a couple of dates. He says that they were an item for nearly two years. Prescott adds that he was, at one point, so serious about Kate that he went house-hunting so that he might live closer to her. Luckily for him, it sounds like their relationship ended before he sank money into Pennsylvania real estate. Now, house-hunting could be the actions of a one-sided man who’s read more into a relationship than is really there. According to Jeff Prescott, he and Kate were both serious about each other. “We were talking about our future together,” he tells RadarOnline . He even says that he and Kate were just about ready to go public with their romance. Just a few years later, and she’s saying that they were never even an item. Ouch. If push came to shove, there may even be a way to prove how serious they allegedly were about each other. Prescott says that he was prepared to do much more than announce that they were dating. He says that, back in 2015, he actually signed on to Kate Plus 8 . There, he would have played the boyfriend of the notorious mother. Clearly, those plans fell through along with their alleged relationship. Some of Kate’s suitors on Kate Plus Date have no idea who she is, which we suppose makes sense. (Who would agree to date her if they knew as much about her as the rest of us?) They have then been shocked to learn that she is the mother of eight children. Of course, that number doesn’t really reflect reality these days, does it? These days, she’s only regularly terrorizing six of her children. Two of them, Hannah and of course poor Collin, have escaped to the relative safety of their father’s house. According to reports, Desir is a trans woman who began transitioning back in 2013. Two years later, her landlord all but kicked her out when he refused to renew her lease in October 2015. Another Brooklyn landlord, then told Desir he could maybe find a BASEMENT apartment somewhere …because, according to him, she shouldn’t be around “people and children.” From The NYDailyNews : At the same time, Desir’s friend “Jazz,” who lived in a different building, told her apartments were available. Yet when she finally spoke in person to Walter, the landlord there, he balked, [law judge John] Spooner wrote. Showing up at his office, he seemed “shocked and surprised” and asked, “‘Why didn’t you tell me you were transgender? Thank God, I had you come here at night. What would people have thought if they had seen you,’” he said, Spooner wrote of the humiliating exchange. Walter then said he couldn’t possibly rent Desir an apartment “around people and children,” but could find her a place “in a basement somewhere with its own entrance” and not “around too many people.” He also worried he’d be thought of as allowing a sexual encounter with Desir if he were to rent to her, and even suggested she stop the transitioning until she landed an apartment, telling her that she “’would look really crazy,’” Spooner wrote. Desir ultimately found an apartment through welfare benefits, but said her sense of independence was shattered and that Walter’s comments were “devastating.” Walter wasn’t the only one to treat her that way — at least 5 landlords refused her housing. In a moment of victory, however, she’s been awarded $25,000. Spooner recommended a compensatory fine of $15,000 and a civil penalty of $10,000, and ”that respondents be ordered to undergo anti-discrimination training” in his decision. “Based on the trial trial evidence, I find that respondents violated … (the City Human Rights Law) by discriminating against the complainant by denying her rental apartments because she is transgender,” Spooner wrote. Desir says folks like to put trans people under a “huge umbrella of negativity,” adding that it “felt good” to do something. “I didn’t realize how difficult it would be … emotions fade, memories fade, and it’s unfair the process and the length of the process you have to go through,” she said, according to the site. Photos of Jess post-op surfaced on Instagram then Twitter until they had been retweeted so many times, they’ll forever remain in the depths of the Internet. Fans are either outraged Jess lied about having work done on her petite frame or at the people who feel it’s their business what she does with her body. Polarizing. Celebrities like Khloe Kardashian have profited off their “weight-loss” journeys. In 2017, Khloe became the host of E!’s Revenge Body, where she guided the transitions of everyday people seeking a transformation. However, the decision to use Khloe as a host was met with controversy since it’s speculated she obtained her curvy shape by way of plastic surgery. their argument, it’s not about getting plastic surgery, but using your platform in a fraudulent manner that misleads your audience. Squats + lunges does not a Kardashian body make. In the era of social media, it’s easy for public figures to portray an unattainable image that shifts and molds the beauty standard. Women who desperately try to achieve plastic surgery results through everyday routines don’t have the same results. Women have also died on surgery tables trying to achieve the desired Instagram look. Men have stepped into the plastic surgery conversation. Kanye West, whose mother died after undergoing plastic surgery, revealed he liposuction after feeling pressure to lose weight. It is rumored Drake had his abs chiseled. A New York man recently died in the Dominican Republic after getting a similar procedure. Operating under the guise of exercise to uphold a facade can be dangerous and ultimately misleading. On the flip side, society, which operates from the White gaze, has always determined the beauty standard and women who just want to live up to it are human. Wanting to be desired, a la Ayesha Curry, is human and we all have insecurities that influence our decisions. It’s understandable why women get plastic surgery, why it’s so easy to fall into the pressure of looking a certain way. Source: Rob Atherton / EyeEm / Getty Summer season is upon us and recently I’ve been seeing extremely cheap fares from the East Coast to Cabo San Lucas. Though it’s property of Mexico, Cabo is located at the tip of California and has beautiful beaches and waves perfect for those that like to surf. This destination is very popular amongst Californians and a luxury vacation destination for Mexicans. If you love Vegas, you will love Cabo. Cabo is more for poolside posing, with most of the resort beaches being too rough to actually go swimming. The resorts are gorgeous and each one has there own special thing to offer. If you are more of a go with the flow type of individual, there are some important things to know in advanced regarding your trip to Cabo. I’ve also added some of my personal “must do’s” when you are on the island. YOU DON’T NEED PESOS Source: Laura Reid / Getty I had a layover in Mexico City and was planning to take a taxi to the resort and meet my girlfriend. I changed about $80.00 USD into pesos to make sure I could cover the cab. I had been to St. Maarten the week before and there were no Ubers and the taxi’s only took cash, so I wanted to make sure I had some on hand. I arrived in Cabo International Airport and everything was in USD (also pricing in pesos). I was able to secure a shuttle for $17 USD to the resort. Your resort will want to charge everything to your room and most places take credit cards, so you don’t have to carry a ton of cash. THERE IS A LOT OF SECURITY The interesting thing I found regarding Cabo is how much security there is. When entering a resort, even through an Uber, they take your name, the license plate, the name of the driver, and where you are coming from (or going). I went with two of my girlfriends and at no point did I feel in danger. We went out downtown and even as we were trying to cross a busy street, security popped out of nowhere to help. While I did feel safe, this overabundance of security made me wonder just what I was being protected from . IT’S A GROUP THING Source: Ruth Cenat / Courtesy of Danielle James There are some places that are great for solo travel and then there are some that are better for groups. Cabo isn’t a solo vacation type of place. You can feel safe going there with friends or family; however, I don’t recommend going to Cabo alone, only because it’s so many groups that you might not meet people. During Memorial Day Weekend we saw couples, families, and one bachelorette party. I was a bit disappointed as I hoped to meet more people, but I had a great time with my girls. IT’S RESORT DRIVEN The resorts are set up so you never feel the need to leave. There were several places we went to dinner and they were all placed on other resorts. I found it surprising that there wasn’t more advertisement for good food in stand alone places that weren’t adjacent to a resort. I would highly recommend the two we stayed at: Sheraton x Garza Blanca . The Sheraton had great food and an old world feel. The resort is absolutely beautiful and if you are looking for a wedding location, the courtyard of this place would be gorgeous. It was also the only resort where I saw people surfing. The resort was lively with lots of guests ranging from families to couples and friends. The room was incredible. We stayed in a duplex and each room minus the top floor had it’s own balcony or balcony access. The hotel opened in January so is currently having a “soft opening” through the Summer. If you want a bit of a discount yet a luxury stay, definitely check this out. With Garza Blanca, it’s about 15-20 minutes from downtown so you aren’t in Cabo directly, but not far from the action. At time of publication, the spa has yet to open and they are still building the other half of the property. However, the pools are nice (and heated!) and we had a great time taking advantage of the cabanas directly on the beach. We stayed in an “ultra suite” which was absolutely gorgeous. It had a jacuzzi, a wrap around balcony, and each room had it’s own shower and bathtub. Online, this room is running for a little over $500/night, but worth it amongst friends. As mentioned, most things happen at other resorts, so we also visited Pueblo Bonito resort. This resort is huge, consisting of actually 3 properties in one. Monte Cristo, which is up in the hills and consists of villas. Then there is Sunset, which is the largest of them all and hosts everyone, and Pacifica, which is adults only and down on the beach with a little over 100 rooms. This resort was fantastic and the most inclusive out of all the resorts I visited. Because the spa wasn’t finished in my hotel, I visited the spa here and boy was it an experience! WHERE TO EAT Source: Danielle James / Courtesy of Captain Tony’s The best place I ate during my stay was at Captain Tony’s, which is downtown right on the marina. I went on a Friday night where there was a live band and an even livelier staff. We did get a bit lost in the Uber. You literally have to get out of the car and walk on the dock to get to the restaurant. The restaurant is right on the dock making it great for both people and boat watching. Source: Danielle James / Courtesy of Captain Tony’s The guacamole was some of the best I have ever eaten and was made fresh for you at the table. The drinks were great and they have something for everyone including strong mixed drinks, a bevy of beers, and frozen drinks that put Wet Willie’s to shame. Another cool thing about the restaurant is that it also services boats with food who are heading out for the day. Also, whatever catch you bring back to shore, Captain Tony’s will cook it up right for you! This restaurant should be on everyone’s radar in Cabo. It’s great for families, couples, whomever! Honestly, I was a bit disappointed with the food in Cabo San Lucas. We went to the El Farallon. Everyone raved about this place. The views are incredible looking over a cliff. The experience is first class. You essentially pick your meal out before you even sit down and the first stop is the champagne bar. I would do this place for drinks, but not again for dinner. The food was bland and underwhelming for the almost $200.00 price tag/person. WHERE TO RELAX If you get bored of bountiful beach views or grow tired of lounging by the pool, you might want to think about booking a spa service. Remember when I discussed visiting Pueblo Bonito resort? Well, their spa is known as being one of the best in Cabo San Lucas and it didn’t disappoint. Source: Ruth Cenat / Courtesy of Danielle James The property is massive and walking to the spa, the minute you enter the grounds, you can feel the energy shift to one of relaxation and good vibes. There is a garden like area with a fountain and to the right is Armonia Spa . The general manager explained, “Our main purpose is that your guests experience the spa circuit, facilities and services we offer. They will feel pampered from check in until they finish their service.” You walk into the spa and check in. To the left, there is an area where you can buy products. They have skincare items and also great aromatherapy items. My friend bought several room sprays. They have lots of organic and multi-treatments for guests. The general manager explained, “We developed the Organic Collection from the beginning and test every product. We started with the 3 Body Rituals and then we continued with teh facial, manicure, pedicure, and massage. The line was developed for a wellness purpose, the ingredients help the body, mind and spirit and offer an emotional and spiritual healing.” For my actual treatment, I got the Detoxifying Organic Ritual. I have only had one body scrub before and this gives you a body scrub and a massage all in one. The session begins with an exotic exfoliation featuring dead sea salts, juniper, laurel and jojoba essential oils that help leave your skin smooth and silky. Then a honey and aloe mask is applied to help with the detoxification and after you are all cleansed and washed you move into another room for a reductive and anti-cellulite massage. It was one of the most lovely experiences ever and I felt relaxed for days to come. They use quality ingredients and give your first class service from the minute you step into the spa. I’d recommend this spa whether you are staying on the property or not. You simply have to call to make an appointment. Afterward, I went back to the market hall at Sunset and had a lovely afternoon meal. Overall, Cabo San Lucas is a trip to go if you just feel like staying on a resort or relaxing with friends. I think this would make a great couples trip as well. It is beautiful, but a beautiful beach where you can’t swim in the water? That’s not my idea of a vacation. Cabo is expensive so be prepared to spend money. It’s also designed for you to stay on your resort so you have to make it a point if you want to jump around. There are also no direct flights from NYC, so the layover in Mexico City made for a longer travel experience. The travel length combined with the cost and the extra safety (I like to feel safe enough to go off the beaten path), hasn’t made Cabo a place I would necessarily go back. I would want to visit restaurants that locals go to and do activities off the beach, but it’s not that kind of town. If you are more mature and just want a relaxing vacation, Cabo is definitely for you. If you are a couple and just want some relaxation and alone time, Cabo would be a great vacation. These days, Bill Cosby is sitting in a prison cell, presumably harboring disturbed fantasies about offering tea to Meghan Markle . But over the weekend, he shocked the world by taking to Twitter. Bill Cosby's Twitter account shared a throwback video, a Father's Day message, and strongly implied that he's been framed by racists. “Hey, Hey, Hey…” Cosby's tweet begins. “It’s America’s Dad…” Interestingly, Matt Lauer has also been referred to as “America's Dad.” He's also not too popular now that people know who he really is. “I know it’s late,” Cosby acknowledges. “But to all of the Dads…” He writes: “It’s an honor to be called a Father,” “So,” Cosby's tweet suggests. “Let’s make today a renewed oath to fulfilling our purpose.” What purpose, you ask? Don't worry — he spells it out. He says that father's have an obligation towards “strengthening our families and communities.” Okay, sure. “#HappyFathersDay” Cosby's tweet is tagged. “#RenewedOathToOurFamily.” But what is really raising eyebrows — aside from this brash tweet from a notorious monster — is the accompanying video. “After slavery was over,” Cosby says in the throwback video. “America kept breaking up the black man's family.” “And,” he admits. “That's some awful history to teach.” “Now,” he continues. “If you wanna look history right straight in the eye, you're gonna get a black eye.” “Because it isn't important if a few black heroes got lost or stolen or strained in America's history textbooks,” Cosby suggests. “What's important,” Cosby explains. “Is why they got left out.” “Now,” Cosby continues in the video. “This country has got a psychological history.” “There was a master race, and there was a slave race,” he acknowledges. “And though there isn't any political slavery,” Cosby says, adding: “Anymore.” “Those same old attitudes,” he notes. “Have hung around.” Bill Cosby may be easily one of the most prolifically awful people we can think of, but what he says in this old, old video is true. “The burning part of 'Burn, Baby, Burn' is right here in this classroom.” Cosby says. This is when the clip reveals that he is standing in a fourth grade classroom full of students who are working on art. He then thanks the students and their teacher for allowing him to make the video and for the artwork that they're doing. As you can imagine, Cosby's out-of-the-blue tweet, both tone deaf and tasteless, caught people off guard. This went doubly true in light of O.J. Simpson's shocking creation of a Twitter account . The jokes write themselves, but some Twitter denizens got creative. That said, Cosby's video was much worse than merely tasteless or tone deaf. It doesn't take an analytical genius to read between the lines. Cosby is all but flat-out saying that America is silencing him because he's a prominent and influential black man. White supremacy is very real and very harmful. But we think that Cosby's situation has more to do with 60 women who didn't like being drugged and assaulted. We're reminded of R. Kelly making very similar claims about his numerous accusers. It take s a special kind of awful for a person to try to use real narratives of oppression to defend themselves.
If you only know one thing about Jana Duggar, it’s probably that she’s unmarried. That wouldn’t be a big deal for most 29-year-olds, but the fact that Jana is still single just a few months shy of 30 is highly unusual for a woman in her community. Duggar women are taught from a young age that procreation is one of their two main reasons for being. (The other being religious devotion, of course.) Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are devotees of the Quiverfull movement and its disgraced founder, Bill Gothard . Gothard teaches that it’s the job of every Christian to produce as many offspring as possible with the goal of eventually overwhelming the rest of the population and creating a Christian planet. As a result, within the Duggars’ community, there’s a tendency to look at a woman who’s “squandered” so many child-bearing years with curiosity … or even contempt. Even Jim Bob has stated that he can’t understand why Jana hasn’t found the right guy . We’re sure he meant to be sympathetic, but knowing that you’re a source of constant befuddlement to your own family has got to be a pretty lonely feeling. Anyway, in spite of the subtle shade and the fact that she’s basically treated like a household slave , Jana still thinks her dad is the best thing since floor-length denim skirts, and she reminded the world of her love for Jim Bob in a recent Instagram post. “Happy Father’s Day to the most wonderful Dad in the whole WORLD!” began Jana’s lengthy caption for the photo above: “My Dad is the one who has taught me so many skills—from tiling floors, basic plumbing & electrical, painting, and car maintenance, to how to get the best deals. He taught me how to drive, helped me buy my first car, and has let me try my hand at design on his different real estate projects… even if it means spending a little more time and money to correct something I’ve messed up on (sometimes we learn by trial and error). “Dad has taught me so much as we work on different projects! Whether it’s designing a home or business space, picking out paint colors, flooring, windows or doors, he’s the mastermind, and I love learning from him and doing projects together with him!!” If you thought Jana was done, you’ve got another thing coming: “Dad is a giver. Always giving of his own goods and supplies without expecting anything in return,” Jana continued. “He’s the first one to start a party no matter the occasion.” (Editor’s note: We never really pictured Jim Bob as a party guy, but hey — life is full of surprises!) “He’s the one that pushes us out of our ‘comfort zone’ (for which I am grateful…. at times.) We all need one of those people in our lives!” Jana continued. “He is quick to ask for forgiveness. He is a humble man. A man of patience, kindness, compassion, determination, strong. He is the one that leads our family and points us to Christ no matter the circumstance. “He’s my Daddy and I’m his little girl. Couldn’t have prayed for a better Dad and can only hope to find a man like him to marry someday!!” “Daddy—Happy Father’s Day from your little girl! I love you so much!” she concluded. All of it is very nice, and we applaud Jana for laying her feeling out there so candidly in this age of irony. But everything the Duggars do gets scrutinized and dissected within an inch of its life, so even though Jana couldn’t have made herself any more clear, dozens of followers still zeroed in on the one line about possibly getting married someday. “I am in tears,” wrote one such fan. “What wonderful things to say in honor of your dad. I have no doubt God will bless you with a Godly man like your dad. Just thank God for that future husband of yours.” We suppose Jana sort of invited the speculation by alluding to the fact that she’s still single. Still, the obsession with this twentysomething’s marital status will never not be weird to us. Here’s hoping she’s not as hung up on when and if she’ll get married as her followers seem to be. The Virginia crooner is expecting baby number two with former beau Ammika Harris , Page Six reports. Brown was dating model Indya Marie but they have reportedly broken up since she learned that Harris was pregnant. The 30-year-old went through the same situation when he was dating Karrueche Tran, who broke up with him when she found out that Brown fathered a child, Royalty , with Nia Guzman . Tran was granted a five-year-restraining order against Brown in 2017 but it doesn’t keep him from poking fun at her current boyfriend, retired NFL player Victor Cruz , on social media. In now deleted comments, Brown wrote, “No shade boo, BUT PLEASE STYLE HIM,” under a picture of Tran and Cruz.
