The Wheel Has Been Broken: ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8, Episode 6 Recap

Read the original:

Source: HBO/ Helen Sloan / HBO/ Helen Sloan G ame over. The battle for the Iron Throne has come to an end, and its occupant is the last person people predicted would be ruling Westeros. Last week, we saw Daenerys succumb to her daddy’s mad gene and reduce King’s Landing to ash finishing what he wanted to start when he screamed “burn them all” before Jamie drove his sword through his heart. The show’s series finale picks up right where we left off with everyone who’s not a member of the Unsullied or Dothraki realizing the coin flipped on the crazy Targaryen side. Tyrion Wants No Parts of A Daenerys Monarchy Source: HBO/ Helen Sloan / HBO/ Helen Sloan Daenerys’ hand is disgusted with his queen and rightfully so. The man just witnessed the now Mad Queen with the help of her dragon turn innocent men, women, and children into one giant pile of ash destroying King’s Landing in the process despite the ringing of the bell signaling surrender. Him, Jon and Davos are surveying the fallout and are taking in the burnt corpses and stunned survivors who somehow survived Drogon’s wrath and escaped being turned into extra crispy King’s Landing residents. Before he goes to face Dany, Tyrion decides to go to the Red Keep which now serves as the final resting place of the incestual duo of his sister Cersei and brother Jamie. Immediately he spots the one-handed knight’s golden hand in the rubble of the castle that fell on top of them. After he digs out their bodies, Tyrion breaks down as he realized that he sent his brother to his death by suggesting him and Cersei make their escape through the area only to see their route was blocked off. It’s also safe to assume that those tears weren’t for his crazy sister but also the fact he took a considerable risk freeing Jamie only to see the opportunity fail and now him possibly facing death by dragon fire. After mourning over Jamie, it’s time to face Westeros’ new Queen. At the moment she is basking in her glory and is thanking her two formidable armies, for helping her “free” aka cook the people of King’s Landing. With that new crazy look in her eyes, she tells Tyrion that she is aware he helped his brother escape. Tyrion calls out The Mother of Dragons for her violent actions before ultimately quitting as her loyal advisor. Dany thanks him for his service by having the pint-sized hand of the queen arrested for his treasonous acts. Looks like Tyrion will suffer the same fate as his best friend Varys who got turned into cigarette ashes after he snitched on him like Frank Lucas did in American Gangster . Jon Makes A Painful Decision Source: HBO/ Helen Sloan / HBO/ Helen Sloan The current King of The North cannot believe what he just witnessed. His auntie/boo thang aka the breaker of chains senselessly laid to waste an entire kingdom and killed children. Jon Snow is not about that Mad Targaryen life despite having the gene himself. Clearly, this dragon, who was raised by wolves, has compassion and cannot be corrupted by power. After walking up on Grey Worm executing Lannister soldiers under orders his beloved queen and listening to her delusional speech where she no longer sounds like the woman he fell in love with a look of concern can be seen on his face. Jon decides to have a conversation with the Tyrion after he is arrested. Tyrion makes his best case that despite the love they both have for Daenerys her crazy ass has to go not now, BUT RIGHT NOW. Tyrion begs for Jon to see that which each person Daenerys kills she becomes more of a tyrant and that his sisters could easily be next to be turned in barbecue chicken, but it looks like his case fell on deaf ears with Jon doubling down on his loyalty to her. With the ash from the battle coming down like snowfall, Jon finds his queen in the throne room admiring the Iron Throne which is now hers. He desperately tries to help her see the error of her ways, but she is too far gone and only wants to rule with Jon by her said. Realizing his queen has gone mad with power, he delivers the fatal blow while sharing one last kiss with Daenerys putting an end to her very short reign. Knowing something is wrong, her dragon son Drogon shows and is not too happy to see his mother dead. Jon initially believes he is about to catch the flamethrower for killing the Mother of Dragons, but instead Drogon takes his anger out on the throne his master died for. After he melts it down like a fake chain, the dragon takes Daenerys lifeless corpse and flies off into the unknown. It was a good run Dany, but you had to go, we hope you enjoy telling people to bend the knee in the afterlife. For his actions though, Jon is arrested by the Unsullied who, as expected, are not too happy to learn the fate of their leader. The Wheel Has Been Broken Source: HBO/ Helen Sloan / HBO/ Helen Sloan It would appear sometime has passed since Jon’s actions, and he is still a prisoner as well as Tyrion. He is taken to a meeting that consists of the most influential people in Westeros. Sansa, Ayara, Bran, Gendry Lord of Storm’s End, Yara Greyjoy of the Iron Islands, Edmure Tully of Riverun, Ser Davos, Ser Brienne of Tarth, Yohn Royce, Samwell Tarly and Robin Arryn Lord of the Vale who is all grown up now and not the spoiled brat who was entirely too old to be breastfed by his mother. They have come to determine the fate of Jon Snow and figure out the leadership situation. Grey Worm is adamant on not giving up either Tyrion nor Jon and wants them to pay for their crimes but as expected the Starks want their brother back. When it came time to decide who should lead, Edmure’s dumb ass gets up to, but before he can a make a ridiculous claim for the throne, Sansa tells her uncle to have a seat,  Samwell suggests they all should lead, and they all laugh at that idea. They leave the decision up to Tyrion, and he suggests surprisingly that Bran would make a perfect King being that like his brother he had no desire for the crown. When asked if he wanted the job, Bran in his best Three-Eyed-Raven voice says he accepts the responsibility by saying the only reason he is at the meeting is to receive the crown. After being met with surprise, the group agrees except for Sansa initially who for some reason brings up the fact Bran can’t fill up any potential queen’s gut with his warging juice. Tyrion thinks that’s best and proposes that from now rulers of Westeros shall be chosen by the group and not come into power by birth, thus breaking the wheel like his former queen wanted. Who Survived The Great Game? Source: HBO/ Helen Sloan / HBO/ Helen Sloan Bran The Broken’s rule begins, but at the request of his sister Sansa, Winterfell will remain independent, so instead of ruling the Seven Kingdoms, he will only oversee six making Sansa Queen of The North. As for Jon, life comes full-circle for him and instead of having his head cut off he was sent back to the wall to become a member of the Night’s Watch forever. When he arrived back at Castle Black he was greeted by Tormund, the wildings and his loyal dire wolf Ghost whom he gives a warm embrace. So all of those folks who complained Jon didn’t pet him in the previous episode can relax now. They embark on another adventure beyond the wall as the finale closes. Sansa is now the running things in Winterfell and looks damn good in her royal fits and rocking her crown. Arya opted not to go back home and instead decided to explore what’s west of Westeros. As for the new ruler Bran The Broken, he takes Tyrion on as his Hand of The King, Samwell is appointed to Grand Maester, Ser Davos Master of Ships, Ser Brienne Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, Ser Podrick is a Knight in the newly formed Kingsguard and Ser Bronn is Master of Coin. Grey Worm took the remaining Unsullied to Naath to the birthplace of cuddle bae Missandei in a touching tribute. Last, but certainly not leas,t Drogon who is now officially the last remaining dragon is enjoying his freedom as was spotted last in the East. Bran says he will try to locate him to pinpoint his exact location. So after 8 seasons of watching the Stark seeds blossom under some rough conditions, we finally get to see them on top and flourishing. Ned, Catelyn, Robb, and Rickon are smiling down from the heavens. Who runs Westeros? STARKS.

Adultification Bias: Study Shows Black Girls Are Treated More Harshly Than White Peers Of The Same Age

Source: Vladimir Vladimirov / Getty Study Shows Adults Perceive Black Girls As Less Innocent Than White Girls Of The Same Age Kudos to Jamilia J. Blake and Rebecca Epstein, who recently released their findings in a study on behalf of the Georgetown Law Center on Poverty and Inequality which looked at adultification bias toward young black girls and women. The introduction to the study revealed how Blake and Epstein previously conducted research which resulted in the June 2017 release of Girlhood Interrupted: The Erasure of Black Girls’ Childhood, a report that presented the findings from their quantitative analysis of an form of gendered racial bias against Black girls: adultification – a stereotype in which adults view Black girls as less innocent and more adult-like than their white peers, devoid of any individualized context. The results of that study revealed that adults perceive Black girls as less innocent than white girls as young as 5-9 years old. The set of findings published last week took things a step further. Researchers conducted focus groups with Black women and girls across the country, in towns and cities of various sizes and in different geographic regions, speaking with a range of participants, between the ages of 12 and 60 years old. Many of those who participated shared personal stories revealing harmful consequences of adults misperceiving their age. “Almost all the black girls and women we talked to said they’d experienced adultification bias as children,” report co-author Jamilia Blake said in a statement. “And they overwhelmingly agreed that it led teachers and other adults to treat them more harshly and hold them to higher standards than white girls.” NEW research @GtownLawPovCntr finds that black girls routinely experience “adultification bias”—the perception of Black girls as less innocent. And if you tell us the real — your real age and real name, we wouldn’t have to be going through none of this’ ….” (Age group 13-17) Other examples of adultification bias concerned “attitude”: “[E]ven when you see just in general the word ‘attitude’ being applied … it’s usually not applied to white girls. It’s applied to Black girls.” (Age group 20‑29) “[A] Black girl, if she’s right, and she wants to argue about something, she’s always labelled as, like, angry. And especially when it came to teachers and stuff. I would see people like debating with teachers and they would always automatically get into trouble. Because like she has ‘attitude.’ [But] … she’s just like trying to prove that she’s right. And … you can just tell that [to teachers,] automatically, she’s, like, in the wrong, just because.” (Age group 17‑23) “[T]he teacher would say she felt threatened, you know, by me expressing myself in a classroom; like, I was, like, overpowering her when a — a outspoken white person would be [viewed as], ‘Oh,nthey’re intelligent;’ you know?” (Age group 20‑29) How many of these scenarios seem familiar to you? The findings also include participants personal stories of being hypersexualized by adults: “In … sixth grade, … the school nurse, like, ask[ed] my aunt if I was sexually active …. And I was, like, at the time, like, what? Like, what? Nobody has sex. Like, I didn’t know anyone that had sex. And it was so crazy to me. And then just thinking, like, she would never think to ask my [white] friend that.” (Age group 20‑29) The bias the participants described included overreaction and premature criminalization as well. Just consider this story, shared by one of the young women who was interviewed: “I remember even in elementary school I had to transfer to different schools, and the other school didn’t want to take me because I had assault and battery on my record, and the reason I had assault and battery was because … during a, um, a game [at recess], one of the balls, like, hit the girl in the face. Like, I had — I wasn’t [even] taken to the principal’s office …. But they just threw that on my record ….” (Age group 20‑29) Can you imagine? An assault and battery record because of a GAME?!? Just ridiculous. There are so many more personal stories we could share, you can read the entire report HERE.

Tyga Used to Be Married to Tristan Thompson’s First Baby Mama and Everyone is Like, Come on Now!

That’s it! We give up! We give in! It can now be deemed official: We’ve heard absolutely everything. Just when we thought that it was impossible to be shocked by anything at this point, considering all the utterly insane nonsense we read on a daily basis as celebrity news purveyors, the following story comes to our attention: Tyga was once married to Jordan Craig. Allow us to elucidate why this revelation is perhaps more stunning than Kim Kardashian naming a child Psalm . In 2011, Tyga started dating Blac Chyna . The stars welcomed their first child, son King Cairo, in October of 2012, prior to splitting in 2014. The following year, Tyga started dating Kylie Jenner . These two broke in 2017 and Jenner went on to date Travis Scott, with whom she had a daughter, Stormi Webster, in February 2018. Following along? Okay, good… In 2016, meanwhile, Black Chyna started dating Kylie’s brother, Rob Kardashian . They got engaged after just a few months as a couple and welcomed a daughter, Dream Kardashian, in November of 2016. Months later, the two called it quits. So that completes the Tyga branch of this effed up and confusing family dating and baby tree. On a literally related note, back in 2014, Tristan Thompson got together with Craig . The basketball player broke up with his model girlfriend toward the end of 2016 — when she was pregnant with their son and because he had started dating Khloe Kardashian . Craig, pictured above, gave birth to a boy named Prince in December of 2016 . Khloe then gave birth to Tristan’s second child, a daughter named True, in April of 2018. About a year later, Khloe dumped Thompson after he was caught cheating on her one too many times. Still following along? Don’t worry, there won’t be a test. These relationships all seemed incestuous enough… and that was before TMZ obtained legal documents that prove Tyga married Craig on September 6, 2010. The rapper filed for divorce exactly one month later and the split was finalized in 2011. Jordan, even added Tyga’s real last name (Stevenson) to her own after the marriage and dropped it after it ended. Did we also mention that, in recent weeks, Tyga began liking Jordan’s Instagram photos? We didn’t see this former marriage coming, but we did report a couple days ago that Thompson and Tyga seemed to actually be fighting over Craig . “Tristan is furious after he was told by a friend that Tyga was creeping on Jordan’s social media,” an insider close to the situation told Hollywood Life this past week. But now said creeping makes a lot more sense. And what’s even crazier is that Thompson apparently has no right to be upset — because Tyga had Craig first! Who would have guessed? This is sheer madness, people. View Slideshow: 13 Men Whose Lives Were Ruined By the Kardashians

Jenelle Evans Told to STFU by State Judge

Have you noticed something unusual about the ongoing Jenelle Evans custody case? No, sadly, it isn’t that Child Protection Services swooped in this week and left with Jenelle’s two young kids (Ensley, 2; and Kaiser, 4), along with David Eason’s daughter from a previous relationship, 11-year old Maryssa. Those who have followed Jenelle and David’s marriage for any period of time have been aware that this was always a possibility. Their home is inarguably a danger zone, considering all the guns Eason keeps around; the fact that he used one to shoot and kill the family’s dog a couple weeks ago; and also the strong likelihood that he assaulted Jenelle while drunk last October. The only real surprise in this situation is that authorities didn’t remove the young children earlier. What is unexpected to some, however, is how quiet Evans has remained throughout the ordeal. Go take a look at Jenelle’s Twitter feed and you’ll notice links to a few celebrity gossip stories around the Internet. How has she not lashed out? How has she not been ranting and raving over the removal of her sons and stepdaughter? It’s simple, really: Because she isn’t allowed to. According to Radar Online, the North Carolina judge in charge of Jenelle’s case has ordered her and her dog-murdering husband to abide by a gag order. They are legally banned from discussing this legal issue in public. For those just catching up: Eason has admitted to killing the family pet, Nugget, because he alleged that the small dog lunged at his two-year old daughter and placed her in danger. This was merely the latest in a long line of ugly and violent incidents, but it garnered national attention because people love dogs and because it was so nasty, brutal and unnecessary. We mean, Eason beat little Nugget bloody and senseless with his bare hands before taking the canine into the woods and putting a bullet into it. Just so very disgusting all around. Considering the uproar around the attack, MTV finally fired Evans from Teen Mom 2 and then Child Protective Services did a wellness check and determined that the kids living with Eason and Evans were not safe in their home. (Jenelle’s nine-year old son, Jace, is remaining with his grandmother, which is where he lives on a typical basis anyway.) On Friday, Jenelle and Eason were spotted holding hands outside of a North Carolina home after a judge adjourned their case for the day and said the custody hearing would continue next week. View Slideshow: Jenelle Evans: Who’s Going to Get Custody of Her Kids?! It’s conceivable that the case may not be resolved for several months, if not even a full year, with Jenelle’s kids being kept away from her during this time. “She’s sick over everything,” a source close to the reality star has told Radar Online, adding: “Her stomach is upside down, she has anxiety, she’s not eating. She doesn’t know what to do. It’s hard.” This may be so. Even for someone as seemingly self-centered and irresponsible as Jenelle Evans, the reality of actually losing your kids must be devastating. And yet…. there’s a step Evans could maybe take that would put her kids back in her arms a lot sooner than later. She just doesn’t seem willing to make it. Which is to say: She could finally divorce Eason. Legal insiders have stated that making it clear her children will no longer be in the presence of this violent bigot would carry heavy weight with the judge. It may be the only way she has her family back under her roof some time this calendar year. Tragically, however, Evans has exhibited all the signs of an abuse victim who is incapable of walking away from her abuser. We’d love to be wrong — but does anyone out there think Evans will actually take this step? View Slideshow: Jenelle Evans Speaks Out on Teen Mom 2 Firing: Is She Really Broke and Depressed?

Jenelle Evans: Who’s Going to Get Custody of Her Kids?!

Are we currently witnessing the lowest period in Jenelle Evans' life so far? It kind of feels like it, right? Which is pretty wild to consider, since she had that whole heroin addiction thing a few years back. But right now, at this very moment in time, Jenelle doesn't have custody of any of her three children. And honestly, the chances of her getting them back aren't looking all that great. 1. Let’s Go OK, so all of this Jenelle stuff … it’s a lot, you know? So grab a drink, maybe a snack, and let’s get into every little last depressing detail of this mess. 2. Justice for Nugget You know how it starts: after a few years of a steady downward spiral, David kicked things up about a billion notches when he beat and then shot Jenelle’s French bulldog puppy, Nugget, for nipping at little Ensley. 3. So Sad As we understand it, all the kids who live at the house were there when it happened, and since David reportedly came back inside “covered in blood,” it’s easy to imagine that they may have been a little traumatized. 4. Sure Thing, Girl Jenelle pretended like she was considering divorce for a few days, but when David nearly went to jail because he was unable to pay the child support for his son, Kaden, she ran back into his creepy, dog-murdering arms. 5. Thank Goodness Fortuntely, not everyone was so quick to forgive him. The local sheriff’s department and animal control opened up a joint investigation against him, and after that, things got intense quick. 6. Nathan to the Rescue One of the detectives on the case got in touch with CPS to suggest that the children should be removed from David’s care, and last Friday, Nathan and/or his mother, Doris, picked Kaiser up from daycare. Wendy Williams Scolds Both Kelly Ripa and The Bachelor: It’s SO Stupid!

This week, just in time for the new season of The Bachelorette , Kelly Ripa slammed the franchise as “disgusting.” Folks on The Bachelor side of things have fired back, but Wendy Williams has a message for both parties. The show is not that serious, and this feud is stupid as hell. For years, Kelly Ripa has ripped into The Bachelor because she thinks that it's just no good. “I’m not a fan of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette either,” Wendy assures her audience. In the episode that aired on Friday, May 17, Wendy makes it clear that she has no horse in this particular race. “It’s so stupid,” Wendy expresses. She doesn't see the value in a franchise that is largely about “women parading themselves around.” Like many before her, Wendy is equating The Bachelor to a sort of reverse auction, where a man simply picks his bride from an array of women. But unlike Kelly, Wendy isn't shaming the fans of the series. “It depends on who you are,” Wendy admits. “What you want to do with your life.” “For me,” Wendy shares. “It’s degrading.” For members of the Bachelor Nation, it's fun to watch. And for some contestants, it's how they've met the loves of their lives. Kelly has been making this same point, on the same network that airs The Bachelor , for years. “So, this is not a new opinion of Kelly's,” Wendy acknowledges. “And, like she says,” Wendy asks. “Why are we arguing over one guy?” “Well, you know what?” Wendy explains. “It's just entertainment.” “It's not that serious,” she expresses. But there are two sides to this feud. Kelly is only half of the story. “In jumps the fight with the host of The Bachelor and the Bachelor creator,” Wendy says. Shis is referring to Chris Harrison and to Mike Fleiss, respectively. “They didn't like what Kelly said,” she notes. “And they let it be known!” Chris Harrison tweeted, warning the Bachelor Nation that “Kelly Ripa is coming for you and your 'disgusting' Monday night habit.” It's entertaining to see the team behind The Bachelor use this little feud to promote the show, reminding fans of when it airs. “Now, I'm thinking,” Wendy says. “As the host, Chris should just stay out of it.” “And,” Wendy suggests, Chris should just “be happy he's hosting a hit show.” That is probably true. Remaining unbothered is often the key to happiness. But, as we noted, this little controversy is drawing more attention to the franchise at just the right time. Every time that this feud comes up, people are reminded of the new season of The Bachelorette . That is probably why the network doesn't seem to mind Kelly, year in and year out, shaming the viewers. It's good publicity. We don't know if Kelly is actively trying to help the show or just doing so by accident. But they all get their names in the headlines and nobody goes to jail. That sounds like a situation where everybody wins to us.
