In the hilarious ad, 2 Chainz and Awkwafina vent their frustrations while getting manicures about their unhelpful smartphones after Titty Boi realizes he is out of space when he tries to take a selfie with the actress. From there the two yearn for a phone that “gets them” and will allow to them do things like know their schedule, know their taste, order sea bass or even purchase Mount Fuji without having to pay for “the dumb things they don’t want.” Well, apparently you get that and more with the Google Pixel 3a and 3a XL which are the more affordable version of the tech giants Pixel 3 smartphone. Based on reviews for the phone, Google has another hit on their hands with their new devices with reviewers calling it the best Android device out despite its lower cost. The Google Pixel 3A starts at $400, and the 3A XL costs $480 and is available unlocked and ready to work on T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon. The Pixel which was once a Verizon exclusive is also now available on other carriers as well. For his talents, the Washington, D.C. region native will be awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor later this year. NPR reports : The stand-up comic, actor, producer and director joins a prestigious group of comedians to receive the award. Among them are Carol Burnett, Whoopi Goldberg, Bob Newhart and Richard Pryor — who won the very first Twain Prize in 1998. “Dave is one of the truly original voices in comedy — the definition of a creative artist,” Matthew Winer, director of comedy and special programming at the Kennedy Center, said to NPR. “He’s a modern day sociologist, skewering stereotypes, defying boundaries and showing us that laughter can be a way to contextualize issues that we struggle to understand.” “Dave is the embodiment of Mark Twain’s observation that ‘against the assault of humor, nothing can stand,’ ” Deborah F. Rutter, president of the Kennedy Center, said in a prepared statement. “For three decades, Dave has challenged us to see hot-button issues from his entirely original yet relatable perspective.” Chappelle will return to Washington on Oct. 27 of this year in a ceremony at the Kennedy Center of the Performing Arts. He joined a growing list of other aging rappers who have suffered from health issues. The 59-year-old’s wife released a statement on Monday saying her husband’s aortic artery repair procedure was not as successful as they previously thought and that Kurtis Blow required open heart surgery, HipHopDX reported . In an Instagram post last week, he said he was “preparing for an aortic artery repair procedure.” It was supposed to “stabilize the artery from further damage caused by the hematoma I contacted from my recent travels to China,” he wrote on May 1. The fact that most rappers, especially the pioneers, are Black and brown only exacerbates that reality since statistics show that African Americans are disproportionately affected by chronic health conditions. That was especially true when it comes to the heart. Rapper Craig Mack died last year at the age of 47 from congestive heart failure. Pioneering DJ Lovebug Starski also died last year following a heart attack. He was 57 years old. Hip-hop singer Nate Dogg died in 2011 after suffering a series of strokes in the years leading up to his death. He was 41. Cancer has also targeted rappers. Just last week it was reported that Bushwick Bill of the Geto Boys had been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, a condition that has all but amounted to a death sentence for Black men in particular. He is 52 years old. GURU of Gang Starr died from cancer in 2010 at the age of 48 and Adam “MCA” Yauch from the Beastie Boys died from cancer in 2012. Phife Dawg from A Tribe Called Quest died from complications from diabetes at the age of 47. Obviously, these ailments don’t only affect rappers, as shown last week’s death of filmmaker John Singleton at the age of 51 following complications from a stroke he had recently suffered. But, like with everybody else, as rappers get older, these health concerns will likely become more pronounced in their lives. After all of those scandals! Well, Josh is embroiled in yet another scandal, and is begging a judge to let him off the hook. As we previously reported, Josh Duggar is being sued for trying to steal a man’s land . See, Josh used his wealth to buy up a bunch of land in Arkansas. It’s a free country, and he can do that. But you have to tell the owner about it and give him the money, first. Josh thinks that he bought the land, but a man named Carl Echols bought the land in 2006. Since then, he has paid taxes on the property and even lived on it. The specifics are that, in 2016, Josh’s real estate company, ALB Investments, purchased five acres of land. If you want an idea of how remote this land is, the purchase price was apparently a mere $1,000. Of course, Echols says that he paid $17,500 when he bought the land from his cousin, Edward L. Lewis. Now, Echols is suing Lewis for breach of contract — for, you know, selling land that he didn’t own and hadn’t owned in a decade. And he’s suing ALB Investments for the land title. Earlier this month, Josh’s attorneys have argued that ALB Investments are in “good standing.” (And sure, if you don’t count being owned by a guy who famously molested 5 little girls, The legal team is asking the judge to remove them from the lawsuit, arguing that they should never have been a part of it in the first place. The judge has yet to make a ruling, but Josh is asking that his name be removed from the matter. Truth be told, it sounds like ALB Investments is just as much a victim in this as Echols himself. Josh occassionally appears in Duggar group photos, where they hope to sneak him in without reprisal from fans. It’s been years since Josh Duggar has appeared on reality television, and it’s not by choice. TLC may allow Jim Bob and Michelle on their show, but even that network has to draw the line somewhere. Josh’s cheating scandal and his (lol) “porn scandal” were big deals for his family. But it was when it was revealed that Josh had molested five young girls, including his younger sisters, that viewers raised hell and Josh got fired. The fact that Jim Bob and Michelle had worked to cover this up got 19 Kids and Counting canceled. By the skin of their teeth, the Duggars managed to remain on television, piggybacking onto the spinoff, Counting On . But even though his family believes that his evil deeds have been wiped away through his faith, Josh is persona non grata for the network. That has had a real impact on his livelihood, and forced him to focus upon his business interests. Josh has a used car business, and is estimated to be worth about $200,000. That’s no chump change, and it means that he can certainly absorb the $1,000 property loss without his soon-to-be-six children starving. But Jim Bob is worth millions, while Josh is merely comfortable . Josh has to work harder than some of his siblings, in part because he has so many mouths to feed. But also because he’s not raking in money from reality television — or the opportunities that accompany it. Frankly, nobody was going to seek product endorsements from Josh before this lawsuit. However, that does not mean it’s the end of merchandising for the rapper’s legacy. The Marathon Clothing is still fully operational online but its doors were closed this week and there was no word on when it will reopen. There were unconfirmed reports that Marathon Clothing has made $10 million since the rapper’s untimely death. Source: Pacific Press / Getty Despite newly surfaced video evidence from Sandra Bland ‘s point of view during her ill-fated 2015 arrest, Waller County District Attorney Elton Mathis has no desire to re-open her case. “Five special prosecutors were appointed to consider the evidence. The grand jury was diligent and considering the facts and circumstances considering the arrest and her subsequent death of Ms. Bland. I have no knowledge at this time of new evidence to second guess the work of those five prosecutors or the grand jury.” The video, cellphone footage from Bland’s phone on the day of the July 2015 arrest was released to the public after being obtained by WFAA. Her sister demanded that her case be re-opened in light of the evidence surfacing. “Open up the case, period,” Bland’s sister Shante Needham said when reporter Brian Collister showed her the video. On Tuesday, investigators and special prosecutor Darrell Jordan pushed back on that notion, saying Bland’s cellphone video was considered during the original investigation. The lawyer for Brian Encinia, the arresting officer in the case said that Bland’s cellphone was given back to her family years ago. “It was part of the evidence that was considered since day one,” Encinia’s attorney Chip Lewis said. “It actually goes towards the defense I put forth that he did what he was required to do under the law and his training which was remove her from the potential threat.” Encinia was indicted for perjury. However, the charge was dropped in exchange for him never working in law enforcement again. Texas DPS also released a statement about Bland’s cellphone video: “The cellphone recording is referenced by Ms. Bland in the dash cam video that was released by the department on July 22, 2015. The video recording from Ms. Bland’s cellphone was specifically identified multiple times in the Ranger Report of Investigation. The Ranger report was made available to all the litigants during the civil litigation filed by her family. At all times, the department complied with its discovery obligations in the civil litigation. “Additionally, the video from Ms. Bland’s cellphone has been treated as public information and made available upon request (see attached). Brian Collister, the reporter who describes the video as “newly discovered,” filed a public information request back in August 2017. Mr. Collister specifically requested the video from Ms. Bland’s cellphone, and the department provided the video to Mr. Collister at that time. The crafter of the viral hit “Old Town Road” rode into the Desus & Mero show where he partook in a fun game of “Country or Nah” where he punted on some very obviously country things and talked about the initial reception of his song and performed it live on television for the first time. Since its inception, “Old Town Road” has become a monster hit spawning a remix featuring Billy Ray Cyrus , a cover by Keith Urban as well version of the song from the point of view from Game of Throne’s villain the Night King . Before he hit the stage to perform the song, the “king of the yee-haw agenda” chopped it with the Bronx natives who kept it real country by rocking cowboy hats with Desus jokingly pointing out “My wife left me, and she took the F-150,” and mero adding “again” before they spoke with the viral sensation. During their conversation, they touched on Lil Nas X performing at the Stagecoach Festival and becoming a Country Music star. When speaking on the initial reaction to “Old Town Road” catching fire on the internet X added: “Every day is like, OK, everything was a dream . . . That terrible situation ended up helping me,” As of Monday (May 6) “Old Town Road” is still the number one record on the Billboard Hot 100 chart holding off Taylor Swift’s struggle shimmy inducing new record and Panic! at the Disco.
