Game of Thrones Preview: Will Jaime Repay His Debt?

Of all the things Game of Thrones has accomplished over its legendary run, a viewer could reasonably argue that the most impressive has been the rehabilitation of Jaime Lannister. This was someone who had sex with his sister and who pushed a little boy out a window on the very first episode of the HBO drama. Fast forward all this time, however, and Jaime is one of the most likable characters on the series. He's a fan favorite who has learned the error of his ways to such an extent that he arrived in King's Landing on the Game of Thrones Season 8 premiere to warn the Starks that his sister was about to betray them. But here's the thing: That kid he pushed out the window? His name is Bran, and he's very much alive. And that king he slayed in order to earn his nickname? His daughter is now a queen, with two dragons at her disposal and her sights set on the Iron Throne. So we're not sure what sort of welcome Jaime hoped to receive upon his arrival at Winterfell — but the preview featured here makes it clear that it won't be a positive one. In this one-minute teaser, we see Daenerys holding court in Winterfell's great hall, while Jaime stands before her, basically on trial. She recalls her older brother, Viserys Targaryen, telling her about how he dreamed of punishing Jaime for murdering their father, the Mad King Aerys. The preview also depicts Sansa and Bran watching Dany's' deposition of Jaime, likely eager for their own retribution. Meanwhile, Tyrion just skulking around, feeling conflicted about his brother, who has become a political enemy and who murdered the father of his boss… … but who remains his brother nevertheless. Will we see a major death on Episode 2? Will Jon tell Dany that pesky little tidbit about how she's really his aunt? And will the Night King finally attack? VOTE below on the season premiere… … and then check out this trailer to see what's on tap!

Just two weeks after he was murdered at his Marathon clothing store, Nipsey Hussle’s being remembered at a local school. Administrators at Crete Academy Charter school revealed a HUGE mural painted across their basketball court of the late rapper. Crete Academy is located in Crenshaw and just blocks away from where Nipsey was gunned down. “For our kids to look at Nipsey and see to see everything he’s done, what he was able to accomplish and how much he gave back to the community is huge for them…because he looks like them,” said Crete Academy Founder Hattie Mitchell to CBS LA. “He grew up where they grew up. He’s the epitome of everything that they want to be and aspire to be.” The mural was done by artist Gustavo Zermeno and the idea of Venice Basketball League CEO Nick Ansom. Ansom and the rapper were in talks about developing a community project before his passing. Nipsey’s family the Asghedons were in attendance for the unveiling. Social Media Recap: Twitter Was Undefeated During The Game Of Thrones Season 8 Premiere Last Night

Source: Albert L. Ortega / Getty After literally waiting years for the final season of Game of Thrones , the hit HBO series’ cult following showed up and showed out by the millions last night — 17.4 million to be exact. What’s more…the premiere episode of season 8 didn’t disappoint. Where do we begin? Daenerys and Jon Snow are all coupled up and unaware that they’re blood relatives… that is until they make their way back to the North, where Jon reunites with his sisters Sansa and Arya, brother Bran, and best friend Sam Tarly. While there, Jon is criticized for bending the knee to Daenerys and Hand to the Queen, Tyrion, is warned the people of the North won’t accept her as queen unless she earns it. Waffle House Shooting Hero Honored By Justice Department

Read more:

I t’s been nearly a year since the tragic mass shooting at a Nashville-based Waffle House occurred and the man who intervened and saved the lives of many individuals at the restaurant on that frightful day is still being honored for his heroic efforts. Tennessee native James Shaw Jr. was recognized at the National Crime Victims’ Service Awards on Friday, the Tennessean reported. The U.S. Justice Department presented James Shaw Jr. the special Courage Award during the annual National Crime Victims' Service Awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on Friday. https://t.co/tfLLUItqhZ — WSMV News4 Nashville (@WSMV) April 12, 2019 The ceremony—which took place in Washington, D.C.—honored individuals and organizations who have displayed their dedication to providing support for victims of traumatic experiences. Survivors who have utilized their own journeys to empower others were also celebrated at the ceremony. Shaw was given the Special Courage Award. While Shaw was dining at the Waffle House on April 22, 2018 a gunman opened fire on restaurant patrons. Shaw sprung into action and fought the gunman in an effort to get the weapon out of his hands and prevent him from shooting other people inside of the restaurant. Shaw was able to successfully disarm the gunman; a heroic action that saved lives. Four people were murdered and four others, including Shaw, were injured. In the aftermath of the shooting, Shaw launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the families of the deceased. Leaders wanted to honor him not only for his heroism during the incident, but his dedication to helping the loved ones of those lost heal. “Risking his own life, Mr. Shaw acted swiftly and bravely after a gunman killed four people early one morning at a diner, saving the lives of many others. He then followed up his courageous action by delivering comfort and aid to wounded and traumatized victims,” Attorney General William P. Barr said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “None of us knows how we would react in such a dangerous situation, but we can all be inspired by Mr. Shaw’s selflessness.” Shaw has received awards and honors from educational institutions, organizations, and individuals. Tennessee State University has set up a scholarship fund in his name, BET gave him a Humanitarian Award, and he was honored with a Gold Vail Award by AT&T Chief Executive Officer Randall L. Stephenson . He also was recognized by Steve Harvey and Ellen DeGeneres .
