It’s undeniable that we are in tense times surrounding racism in the United States, so Taraji P. Henson ‘s new movie co-starring Sam Rockwell, titled The Best of Enemies may be exactly what we need. It tells the story of no nonense civil rights leader Ann Atwater and KKK President C.P. Ellis and the development of their friendship during the course of a charette to decide whether Durham schools should be desegregated in the 1950’s. Source: Derrick Salters/WENN.com / WENN HelloBeautiful had the opportunity to speak with Bill Riddick, who actually came to Durham from Raliegh to set up, organize and oversee the charette and encouraged Ann Atwater (played by Henson) and C.P. Ellis (played by Rockwell) to co-host it for full representation. Riddick discussed that a charette is designed to solve one specific problems, we joked during the interview that we need a charette right now in the United States. Henson was passionate about playing Atwater who was undeniably a strong character, “She was up against all these men, all these powerful men.” If you wonder how Henson was able to channel this for the character, she added, “I feel like that in this industry.” Rockwell stated he read the script and knew that this was an important film to make. As someone who has seen the film (and actually lived in Durham for four years), I highly recommend it. You’ll walk out feeling hopeful for a new future and re-energized to make change. Back in November of last year, John David Duggar married Abbie Burnett . But in this Counting On clip, they're still preparing for the big day. Jana Duggar is relegated to helping everyone, and that includes helping prepare for her little brother's wedding. In the process, while out and about with BFF Laura DeMasie, she finds something so embarrassing that she “tried to block” it out. TLC has posted a number of behind-the-scenes looks at the Duggar family on Counting On . In this one, Jana is busy acting as a wedding planner for John David Duggar and Abbie Burnett. That's right — Jana isn't just a full-time childcare worker, a housekeeper, and a gardener. She also helps to plan her siblings' weddings while fans wonder when she will have her own. Even though Jim Bob is a millionaire, John David's wedding had a tight budget. So Jana went to a thrift store to look for decorations. There's a lot of good stuff in this clip, but let's skip right to the humiliation. (Sorry, Jana!) Laura and Jana find a massive collection of books, but one set of books in particular catches their eyes. It's a bunch of Duggar books. Books put out by the family over the years are collected on a set of shelves. Jana's feeling of awkwardness is palpable. Meanwhile, Laura is laughing her head off. The books include Growing Up Duggar and The Duggars: 20 And Counting . As you can imagine, Jana is both visible and recognizable on the various books, which Laura cannot help but point out. (If your best friend doesn't know how to roast you over harmless stuff, are they really your best friend?) Jana then makes the mistake of looking to see how much the books cost. From their dialogue, and it's unclear if they're joking, it sounds like the books are about 90% off. Laura then suggests that Jana should autograph one of the books as a special surprise for someone who might buy one. Instead, Jana covers up the faces of some of the books, using other books. It's not clear if she hopes to avoid being recognized by others in the store — since, you know, she has a whole dang camera crew with her. Even afterwards, Laura is cackling over the experience, much to Jana's embarrassment. When it is brought up in front of the camera, Jana states that she “tried to block” that memory from her mind. Elsewhere in the clip, Jana explains that she tends to look at items, then look at the price. Her own siblings admit that she sometimes “stretches” the budget. Laura is there to keep her in check by reminding her that she can only buy so much for this wedding. Then the producers troll her by having different pairs of Duggars speak about which among them are more impulsive purchasers. Jessa and Kendra, like Jana, tend to want to take advantage of a good sale when they see it. Because Jana and Laure insist that they're just friends , not lovers, the producers also bring out a non-couple: twin brothers Jeremiah and Jedidiah. Of the two, Jeremiah usually counsels Jedidiah to not impulsively purchase things … but that may just be a trick, as Jeremiah may buy the item himself.
Anyone who’s ever been through an ugly divorce knows it can be rather costly to end a marriage. But if you’re about to drop your dog off for his weekend visitation with your ex, you can take comfort in knowing that things could have been much worse — just ask Jeff Bezos. Back in January, Bezos announced his split from wife Mackenzie . Shortly thereafter, it was revealed that Bezos was romantically involved with Lauren Sanchez, a media personality who formerly hosted So You Think You Can Dance . At first, it was reported that Bezos had cheated on his wife with Sanchez , but reps for the Amazon founder and CEO say the two became involved only after he separated from Sanchez. Whatever the case, the whole situation deteriorated into a messy scandal in which the National Enquirer threatened to publish Bezos’ nude photos in a bizarre extortion plot. Considering all that, we suppose Jeff got out of his marriage with far less damage than he might have anticipated. Jeff and Mackenzie finalized their divorce today, and while she’ll walk away with a cool $35.6 billion in Amazon stock, her ex-husband will get to keep the remaining 75 percent of his shares. The settlement makes Mackenzie the fourth richest women in the world. Bezos retains the top spot on the billionaires list with a net worth estimated at $149 billion. (He was at a paltry $137 billion when he and Mackenzie announced their split.) Mackenzie confirmed that the divorce was finalized on Thursday afternoon with a surprisingly detailed tweet: “Grateful to have finished the process of dissolving my marriage with Jeff with support from each other and everyone who reached out to us in kindness, and looking forward to next phase as co-parents and friends,” she tweeted. “Happy to be giving him all of my interests in the Washington Post and Blue Origin, and 75% of our Amazon stock plus voting control of my shares to support his continued contributions with the teams of these incredible companies.” Bezos echoed Mackenzie’s amicable sentiments in a tweet of his own: “I’m grateful for her support and for her kindness in this process and am very much looking forward to our new relationship as friends and co-parents,” he wrote. The couple married in 1993, before he founded Amazon and long before he became the richest man in the world. Mackenzie is often credited with helping to lay the groundwork for the world’s largest online retailer in the company’s early days. But we are getting closer and closer to the truly big one… Before the Royal Baby enters the world, however, Harry and Meghan have officially moved into the home where their impending child will be raised. The famous parents-to-be now reside into their newly renovated home, Frogmore Cottage, which is located on the Frogmore Estate in Berkshire. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are expecting their first child any week now, were initially revealed to be leaving their two-bedroom Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace in London last November. The decision took many observers by surprised and fueled talk about a Markle and Kate Middleton feud . There was an assumption as the time that Markle simply had to get as far away from her rival as possible. Is this really the case? We’ll likely never know. It’s equally conceivable that the couple simply wants their son or daughter to grow up outside the busy city of London. “Windsor is a very special place for their royal highnesses and they are grateful that their official residence will be on the estate,” Kensington Palace simply said in a statement last fall. Last month, in anticipation of Markle giving birth, the formation of a new household for Harry and Meghan was also confirmed, putting an end to the joint household the prince shared with older brother Prince William at Kensington Palace. This is technical Royal Family stuff, but it’s important to those who are interested in the lives of Harry, William and their wives. “The Queen has agreed to the creation of a new household for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, following their marriage in May last year. The Household, which will be created with the support of the Queen and the Prince of Wales, will be established in the spring,” a royal statement announced a couple weeks ago. It continued: “The Duke of Sussex currently has his own private office, which has been supporting the Duchess since Their Royal Highnesses engagement in November 2017. “This long-planned move will ensure that permanent support arrangements for the Duke and Duchess’ work are in place as they start their family and move to their official residence at Frogmore Cottage.” Frogmore Cottage, of course, is not really a cottage in any traditional sense. It has 10 bedrooms, for example. It was gifted to Harry and his wife by Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and is very nearby from the queen’s Windsor Castle, where the superstars are expected to spend Easter Sunday. There’s also plenty of room here for Markle’s mother to feel comfortable, as she’s expected to stick around for awhile after her grandchild is born. She is not expected to move permanently into the estate, however; neither is Markle’s attention-starved father or insult-hurling step-sister. They both suck and will hopefully never receive an invite to the home. At this point, meanwhile, Markle is on maternity leave and is not expected to be out and about in public very much. All we can really do is sit back and debate potential baby names while we await the momentous occasion. Earlier this week, we reported that Larissa Lima and Colt Johnson ended their divorce battle with a surprising out-of-court settlement. Coltee’s attorney has issued a statement about this surprisingly amicable resolution. Larissa, in the mean time, had something very different to say. Colt Johnson’s attorney issued a statement to Us Weekly , confirming that the two bitter exes have reached a divorce settlement. “Colt Johnson and Larissa dos Santos Lima have come to settlement terms in their divorce,” the statement begins. “Through their respective attorneys,” Colt’s lawyer states. “They have agreed to settle the case amicably.” This might be their first truly amicable moment in a long, long time. The attorney adds: “with both parties bearing their own fees and costs.” It is unclear if any of the property or money of Larissa’s that Colt and Debbie allegedly kept was returned, or if she has simply written it off. Being Colt Johnson’s attorney, he shared his insight upon his client’s state of mind. “Colt is very pleased that the matter is resolved,” the statement reveals. That makes sense, given that it was Colt who was on the hook. The attorney continues: “and that both parties can move on with their lives.” Larissa had been asking for an equal share of their home’s furnishings, of their shared bank accounts. She was also seeking $1,000 a month in spousal support. “Given the short duration of the marriage,” Colt’s attorney says. Notably, the couple married in June of 2018 and separated (and filed for divorce) in January of 2019. That’s about seven months of a very troubled marriage. “And” the statement continues. “With there being no property matters or custody considerations.” They thankfully had no children together, and apparently made no major purchases together. “The matter should have, and has, settled early in the proceedings,” he opines. “The attorneys are preparing the Stipulated Decree to submit to the Court,” Colt’s attorney reveals. “Which,” he notes. “Will be signed and entered.” There is good news for nosy 90 Day Fiance fans (like ourselves)! If there’s anything interesting in their divorce settlement, it looks like we will all get to see it. The attorney states: “and will then be a matter of public record.” “Colt wishes Larissa the best in her future endeavors,” the statement concludes. Also this week, Larissa marked a major milestone for her fans and followers on Instagram. “Yesterday was one year of my arrival in the United States,” Larissa writes, noting the anniversary. Larissa is the first to admit that she has “learned a lot in the past one year.” She even acknowledges that she “made mistakes.” All jokes aside, even Larissa’s most diehard fans know that marrying Colt was not her only use of poor judgment last year. “But in the end,” Larissa writes. “I’m just grateful for everything.” Though she has previously expressed (at her divorce party, no less) that she regrets having done the show, she also has fond memories. “90 day fiance was a great experience,” Larissa admits. A huge part of what made it positive was her fans. “I love that I connect with people that always support me,” she writes. Larissa says: “They know how much I care.” “I never forgot that my ‘dream’ was juts do to CVS and buy Maybelline or visit Walmart,” Larissa shares. Some folks have humble dreams, or simply odd personal goals when it comes to international travel. “Well,” Larissa writes. “Now my dream is a biggie house with a pool.” Like the one that she had hoped that Colt would have. “Thankfully,” Larissa concludes. “I’ll get it with my own strength.” That is a commendable and positive attitude.
