Joe Jonas Appreciates Fan Support For Fast Life

‘See No More’ singer ‘got the reaction right away’ on debut solo single. By Jocelyn Vena Joe Jonas Photo: MTV News Joe Jonas seems to be getting all the support he needs from his fans as he embarks on releasing his solo album, Fast Life , this September. The album will be an intimate look at the inner monologue of the Jonas Brother. While it’s a bit of a scary process going at it without his brothers, he said fan feedback is making the transition a lot easier. “I was really excited,” he told MTV News about hearing fans’ comments. “I love the world we live in where you can know what people are thinking right away.” He added that while much of the response has been positive, he’s also cool with any criticism that might come his way. “I guess you like it and you don’t like it, but I like it because [my single] ‘See No More,’ when it released on iTunes, I got the reaction right away of what people are thinking.” The song’s video also got tons of feedback, but long before the video dropped, it took a little work getting it all together. “The video kind of came together with a concept I had using a house as a metaphor to show destruction of a heart or of the mind,” he explained. “The first director didn’t work out. I kept fighting to find the right treatment.” That right treatment put Joe in an “almost dream world with a house where the house is falling apart, the house is on fire, there’s explosions,” he explained. “And I’m a guy, so I was immediately really excited about that.” So, how does “See No More” co-writer Chris Brown feel about the release? “He’s really pumped for the song and he gave his support, which was really cool,” Jonas said. ‘Harry Potter’ Finale: Why Did Rupert Grint Walk Out?

‘It is really sad,’ he tells MTV News of ‘Deathly Hallows, Part 2.’ By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Rupert Grint Photo: MTV News Spoiler alert: “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” is a tearjerker. While fans already expected to walk into the theater Friday with a box of tissues in hand, the “Potter” stars were a bit surprised to find that watching the final film in the series could bring them to tears — or at least make them choke up. Viewers will likely find the movie emotional on two levels, because the story itself has tragic elements and because its release marks the end of a decade-long film series. Even though the actors finished filming the movie more than a year ago, they said there were still scenes in “Deathly Hallows, Part 2” that made them fight back tears. Rupert Grint said that, despite the fact he’s seen the movie twice, he had to walk out of the theater during the London premiere last week. “I caught a bit. It is really sad,” he told MTV News.”There’s a scene where all three of us are on the bridge after the battle, the castle is on fire … there’s a weird parallel between that and our lives. That always gets me.” For Tom Felton, it was the epilogue scene that concludes the movie that almost brought him to tears. That scene has especial emotional resonance for him because his real-life girlfriend, Jade Olivia, plays the wife of his character Draco in the flash-forward sequence. But it was actually Daniel Radcliffe’s scene between Harry and his children at King’s Cross station that affected him the most. “There was something really nice about seeing Daniel with his kids at the end. I really thought Daniel did a marvelous job of being older. I got a bit emotional about that,” Felton said. “Even though it’s funny, it was really quite sad to think that, ‘Christ, our lives have flashed before our eyes. We’re old!’ ” Radcliffe also told MTV News that he found scenes in the film “heartbreaking,” especially Alan Rickman’s performance during Severus Snape’s flashback sequence . Beyond the film, Felton said he nearly cried during Radcliffe, Grint and Emma Watson’s heartfelt goodbye speeches at the London premiere last week. He had to talk himself through it, saying, “Just keep it together, Tom, just keep it together,” but according to the “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” actor, it was a close call. “[The speeches] were really quite special,” he said. “I was really touched by that. I could have easily let myself go.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . President Obama’s 2011 ‘Race To The Top’: Watch It Here!

In behind-the-scenes footage, see how winning Memphis high school seniors landed a visit from the commander in chief. By James Montgomery Students at Booker T. Washington High School celebrate after winning President Obama’s 2011 “Race to the Top” Photo: MTV News Last month, the class of 2011 at Booker T. Washington High School in Memphis got the thrill of their lives when President Obama delivered the commencement speech at their graduation. It was their prize for winning the second annual “Race to the Top” challenge , a nationwide competition sponsored by Viacom, the Get Schooled Foundation and, of course, the White House. The contest aims to find the school that best prepares its students for college and beyond, and the seniors at Booker T. created a video that showcased not only its accomplishments (math scores 20 percent higher than the state average, a 30 percent increase in graduation rates), but its resiliency too. After all, the school is located in one of the nation’s poorest cities and can claim the 14th-highest crime rate in the country. Not surprisingly, they won, which meant that President Obama not only headed down to Memphis for BTW’s graduation, but he spent time with two of the school’s brightest and best pupils: Cassandra Henderson and Christopher Dean, both of whom overcame tremendous obstacles to not only graduate, but make plans for the future (both will attend the University of Memphis in the fall). As you can probably imagine, spending time with the president was a dream for both students. But Obama’s visit also meant something to the city of Memphis. As Dean told MTV News last month: “I’m proud of my school and happy for my city … this city needed the help that he brings. What better place to come than Memphis?” And now, you can relive Booker T. Washington High School’s big day with the premiere of “President Obama’s Race to the Top,” an in-depth program currently available on MTV.com. Through interviews with the students and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, you’ll be with them as they pose for photos with the president in front of Air Force One, fight back tears of joy, and, above all else, make a memory that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. J. Paul Getty III son Balthazar Getty picture

A father of two and a grandfather of six, Getty was 54 and “taught us how to live our lives and overcome obstacles and extreme adversity,” said Balthazar, 36, reports the Los Angeles Times. At the age of 16, Getty was abducted in Rome by kidnappers who said he was being held by the Mafia. His father and grandfather, then the richest man in the world (and notoriously the cheapest, with a pay phone in his London mansion), thought it a hoax and refused to pay the $3 million requested ransom.
