Lauren Conrad Says L.A. Candy Is ‘Three Books, One Movie’

‘It’s one story being told over the three [books], so I think it’s one overall story,’ she says of plans to make a single movie out of the book trilogy. By Jocelyn Vena Lauren Conrad Photo: MTV News Lauren Conrad and her team — including the same producers behind the blockbuster “Twilight” franchise — are hard at work trying to make sure they get the film adaptation of her “L.A. Candy” book trilogy just right. However, Conrad said that each book will not get its own accompanying film. “Actually, the movie is meant to be based on the story that’s told over the three books that I’m writing — three books, one movie,” she told MTV News while promoting her latest tome, “Sweet Little Lies.” “It’s a trilogy. It’s one story being told over the three, so I think it’s one overall story.” Conrad is still focused on the big-screen story line of fictional reality star Jane Roberts and admits that she has yet to attach any A-list actors to the role. “No, we’re still working with writers,” she said about casting decisions. “And in the early stages.” Late last year, Conrad joked to MTV News that she’d like to see her former “Hills” castmember Lo Bosworth tackle the role of Jane , based on some of Conrad’s own real-life experiences as a reality-TV star. “I have to do research. We’ll see,” she said. “I would like Lo Bosworth. Lo has taken a couple of acting classes in her life. “No [I don’t know who should be in it],” Conrad added. “[That’s] the question I do not have an answer for. I have no idea! I feel like I’m going to shoot for someone crazy amazing and then they’re going to be like, ‘Ugh, yeah, I’ll do your movie.’ ” Who would you like to see star in “L.A. Candy”? Lloyd Banks Says ‘Beamer, Benz Or Bentley’ Is One Of Many Hits To Come

‘I’mma rap my ass off this year. I’m still in that zone,’ G-Unit rapper says. By Shaheem Reid Lloyd Banks Photo: MTV News “Beamer, Benz or Bentley” is Lloyd Banks’ fastest rising single on radio since 2004’s “On Fire.” DJs haven’t just been playing it, they’ve been testifying on-air about how hot the record is. Banks says his Juelz Santana assisted banger came about while he was penning records for his V5 mixtape , which dropped just before New Year’s. “That was the first CD I wrote all of the material for,” Banks said about V5 . “All of the other mixtapes was just scattered-around material. ‘I’ll take those five [songs from there]. I’ll take those five.’ That momentum led to ‘Beamer, Benz or Bentley.’ “I didn’t want to just come back with a commercial record that’s gonna be worked mainstream,” he continued, explaining why he chose to do a mixtape. “The first thing [some of the fans are] gonna do is question you: ‘Where have you been?’ For some people, this is my first record back, for those that just pay attention to the radio. But for those who follow MTV.com and ThisIs50.com, they know I’ve been leaving my mark on the Internet scene for the past year.” It was Skull Gang artist John Depp (the Queens rapper, not the movie star) who brought together Juelz and Banks, who happens to be Depp’s cousin. “The Juelz feature is something that didn’t happen in [the past] because we had two of our own entities,” Banks explained. “G-Unit had a lot of our own artists we had to showcase, same with Dipset. I was doing records with Prodigy, Mobb Deep, with everybody. I didn’t have to go outside the circle. I was excited about the staff we had there. Now it’s time for change.” The resulting collaboration debuted at #76 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100. “To have ‘Beamer, Benz or Bentley’ added to Hot 97 within three or four days was incredible,” Banks said. “That was one mix-show weekend that really came at the right time. I’m so thankful, man. It goes to show as long as you keep striving for what you believe in and your goals, you can make it happen.” Banks said he did feel some of the effects of a G-Unit backlash over the past couple of years, but he thinks that’s finally over. “A lot of the backlash was due to the success of G-Unit,” Banks concluded. “People forgot about the talent we possess and just start thinking about all the business moves. … I wanted to go back to the formula. This is what you respect? You respect rappers? Well, I’mma rap my ass off this year. I’m still in that zone. ” ‘Beamer, Benz or Bentley’ is just one record. I got another smash on the way with somebody that they probably never thought I would work with,” he teased. And he and Santana recorded other material together, including a song currently slated to appear on Juelz’s upcoming mixtape The Reagan Era. Related Artists Lloyd Banks Juelz Santana

Lloyd Banks Calls ‘We Are The World’ Remake ‘A Good Look’

‘They brought it to a new audience,’ the G-Unit rapper says of the Haiti benefit single. By Shaheem Reid Lloyd Banks Photo: MTV News NEW YORK — Lloyd Banks said he wasn’t deeply touched by the original version of “We Are the World” when it came out in 1985; the Southside Queens native was just barely 2 years old when the star-studded charity record debuted. So, understandably, Banks said he has no problem with the record being remade . “To be honest with you, I’m very aware of the record and how big the record was,” he said Wednesday afternoon at the G-Unit office. “But I was so young at the time, it really doesn’t affect me the way it would affect an older rapper. They might have completely understood what the record was. It doesn’t disappoint me they had rap in it now. It’s kids out there that never heard the record to begin with. I can’t say they messed the record up. If anything, they brought it to a new audience. “Michael Jackson was a phenomenal artist. It will never be another one of those guys,” Banks added. “So anything would have not topped [the original version]. You could have anybody sing on that. But it was a good look. It was for a good cause.” Jay-Z, meanwhile, told MTV News that the original was “untouchable” and was surprised that it was remade. Banks found out about the tragic earthquake in Haiti when he was released from jail in Canada and came back home to the U.S. The G-Unit rapper was arrested for assault and robbery last month after an alleged dispute with a concert promoter. “Actually, when I had first came back from jail, I seen that,” he explained. “It was the first thing I saw in the airport. It really bothered me. People was sending me stuff through the phone; [pictures] of people lined up dead. It really bothered me. From that point on, I was like, ‘Whatever I could do [to help], I’ll be there. A concert or whatever.’ I have a lot of close friends that are Haitian, including Sha Money XL, Tony Yayo, Whoo Kid and some of my guys from the street. It’s like, ‘Damn, they got family members they still haven’t heard from to this day.’ I wouldn’t know what I would do in that situation. My heart goes out to all those people who lost somebody.” Related Videos Behind The Scenes Of ‘We Are The World’ Related Photos ‘We Are The World 25 For Haiti’ Recording Session
