In a talk with Shadow and Act for his new movie with Eddie Murphy , “Dolemite Is My Name”, Snipes was asked about the “New Jack City” project. His response? “I’m not associated with it, you know. I’m have nothing to do with it at all,” he said. When pressed about his specific feelings for the flick, Snipes explained: “I think some things should be left alone…if it worked at the time under the circumstances. And the story was built around things that are current. I don’t particularly like the idea of recreating the drug culture. For what? […] I don’t know. They actually talked to me about doing it and I told them no. If I had a dime for every time I’ve said no. It’s a done deal, it’s a wrap.” The original “New Jack City” premiered in 1991 and it served as Mario Van Peebles ‘ directorial debut. It told the story of New York City drug lord Nino Brown (Snipes) and the detective, Scotty Appleton ( Ice-T ) who goes undercover to plot his downfall. Along with Snipes and Ice-T starring in the movie, Chris Rock, Michael Michele , and Allen Payne also had significant roles. Deadline made the announcement that the flick would be receiving a reboot, although the writer for the movie, Malcolm M. Mays deemed it a “sequel” on Instagram. Along with being a writer, Mays has also had a reoccurring role on the FX drama “Snowfall,” which also explores the inner workings of the drug world only this time, in L.A. where Mays is from. “New Jack City” has had major cultural impact, especially serving as the launching pad for the acting careers of Rock, Payne and Ice-T. Rock was especially memorable to audiences for his dramatic turn as “Pookie” Benny Robinson, a crack addict who eventually becomes a police informant and infiltrates the Cash Money Brothers gang. The flick was made for an estimated $8 million, according to Deadline, and it grossed around $48 million at the domestic box office. Although Mays is set to pen the script for the sequel, there is no director attached yet. Meanwhile, Mays is gearing up to direct and produce the feature film “Flint,” starring John Ortiz and T.I. The movie will follow a converted ex-con who’s found peace in the Tao principles. He finds himself caught up in a murder mystery set upon by his ex-lover and young mentee. His journey plays out in the backdrop of the Flint, MI water crisis and soon connections are made between the protagonist’s mystery and the water crisis afflicting the community where he grew up. We’re not sure exactly what’s going on with Aaron Carter these days, but whatever it is, it’s very sad, and very serious. The public became aware of the latest trouble in the singer’s life when his older brother, Nick Carter, filed for a restraining order , claiming that Aaron had threatened to murder both him and his wife, who was pregnant at the time. In an effort to share the news himself before it was reported by the tabloid media Nick took to social media, writing: “After careful consideration, my sister Angel and I regret that we were required to seek a restraining order against our brother Aaron today,” he wrote. “In light of Aaron’s increasingly alarming behavior and his recent confession that he harbors thoughts and intentions of killing my pregnant wife and unborn child, we were left with no choice but to take every measure possible to protect ourselves and our family. “Take care. @nickcarter we’re done for life…I haven’t seen him in four years. And I don’t intend,” Aaron responded. “All I ask is for my family to leave me alone,” he continued. “This is blood. Not love. I will never be around you and I don’t want to be around you … Stop trying to get me 5150’d before I file a harassment suit myself nick I have the $.” The conflict seemed to send Aaron into an often frightening downward spiral. First, he claimed to have been raped by his late sister . Shortly thereafter, he accused Nick of raping a 91-year-old woman . Then, in case there were any remaining doubts about the state of Aaron’s mental health, the 31-year-old revealed a large, garish face tattoo. Not surprisingly, this series of events led to rumors that Aaron is on drugs. And given the very public fashion in which he lives his life, it’s also not surprising that Aaron decided to disprove those rumors by submitting to a urine test on Instagram Live. Unfortunately, he may not have received the results he was hoping for. Aaron Carter Fails Drug Test Seemingly irate about an article published by Radar Online, Aaron captioned the video: “STOP WRITING LIES ABOUT ME AND START THROWING SOME FUCKING RESPECT ON MY NAME! @radaronline,” he wrote. “Your ‘shocking drug’ post about me was desperate and completely misleading to whatever readers you have left these days. proving you idiots wrong will NEVER get old to me. Carter then proceeded to take a drug test he had apparently purchased online and threatened Radar with legal action if the site didn’t delete its original article. In the comments, many fans pointed out that he appeared to test positive for both THC and PCP. While Carter admits to smoking weed, he says fans misinterpreted the results with regard to PCP. “For everybody out there that’s questioning the results, you f–king a–holes,” Aaron said in a second video. This time, he showed a test that was positive only for THC. Obviously many still felt that he had faked the results, but for now, let’s focus on the positive. Nick Carter welcomed a baby girl today just after wife Lauren Kitt suffered a miscarriage. And Aaron was among the first to congratulate the couple on social media: “I’ve been very hurt by the fact that my big brother has not made an effort to be part of my life for a long time. So therefore, I lashed out and said some hurtful things I did not mean to say,” Aaron tweeted. “I love my brother. Whether Khloe still loves Tristan on some level is almost irrelevant at this point. What matters is whether she knows better. We hope that the answer is yes. It wasn’t enough for Tristan to very publicly cheat on Khloe with multiple women while she was pregnant. The scandal broke the day before she went into labor with True. No, he had to not only worm his way back into her life, but then cheat on her again, acting as if a few months of playing Mister Good Guy was enough. Is Tristan really tring to get back with Khloe? Maybe. He doesn’t seem like a person who understands what he wants. He’s rich, famous, and crazy hot. If he wants a harem, or simply a wife who doesn’t give a flip if he cheats, he can have those things. But he can’t have Khloe and still cheat. He just can’t.
