Lindsay Lohan’s ‘Inferno’ Director Admits ‘Exasperation’

‘But there is a tremendous gift underneath all the obvious baggage,’ Matthew Wilder tells MTV News of jailed leading lady. By Kara Warner Lindsay Lohan on set of “Inferno” Photo: TylerShields.com Lindsay Lohan’s return to jail on Friday (September 24) as a result of a probation violation has no doubt put another kink in the problem-plagued actress’ attempts to revive a once-thriving career. Specifically, production on the Linda Lovelace biopic, “Inferno,” which was set to begin filming in November, may be hampered by the ongoing legal troubles of its leading lady. Still, “Inferno” director Matthew Wilder, who has been unyielding in his support for his star, said the show will go on — with Lohan. “We love her. We want her to do well,” Wilder wrote in a statement e-mailed to MTV News. “We will make the picture shortly.” Wilder added that the film will now shoot in Los Angeles instead of Louisiana, as was originally planned. “I think [it] will make things easier on the Lindsay front,” he said. “I understand people’s exasperation,” Wilder admitted, referring to the former Disney darling’s string of questionable life choices over the last few years. “I share it. But there is a tremendous gift underneath all the obvious baggage.” During Lohan’s hearing on Friday, Judge Elden Fox did not hear any testimony from Lohan’s lawyers before denying the 24-year-old “Mean Girls” star bail and ordering her to report to jail. Lohan was reportedly handcuffed in court before being taken into custody, meaning she could be behind bars until the next hearing in the case, scheduled for October 22. According to the conditions of her post-rehab release, Lohan could spend 30 days in jail. She served 13 days of a 90-day jail sentence in July over a probation violation from a pair of 2007 DUI cases; she subsequently spent 23 days in a rehab facility, serving less than one third of her 90-day court-ordered sentence. Are you surprised that Lindsay’s “Inferno” director is standing by her? Tell us in the comments. Lindsay Lohan To Be Released From Jail

Actress will reportedly have to wear SCRAM bracelet again upon release. By Mawuse Ziegbe Lindsay Lohan in custody on Friday (Sept 24) Photo: Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department/ Getty Im Lindsay Lohan is expected to be a free woman once again after a second judge agreed with her lawyer that the actress is entitled to bail. Since Lohan’s jailing Friday (September 24), lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley was reportedly working to get her client the option of posting bail . The Los Angeles Times reports that on Friday afternoon, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Patricia M. Schnegg overturned Judge Elden Fox’s order and granted the actress $300,000 bail. TMZ adds that Lohan will have to be outfitted with a SCRAM bracelet within 24 hours and avoid venues where alcohol is the “chief item of sale.” Lohan sported a SCRAM bracelet this summer, which reportedly went off at a party, an incident that ultimately led to her July prison sentence. Lohan was sent to prison exactly one week after she admitted to failing a court-ordered drug test , the screening being one of many conditions the starlet had to adhere to after back-to-back stints in jail and rehab. Judge Fox ordered Lohan to be held without bail until a scheduled October 22 hearing in the case. The move was reportedly a tactic to keep the actress in prison instead of sentencing her outright, which might have cleared the way for early release due to overcrowding. “Ms. Lohan cannot be released early because this isn’t a jail sentence,” L.A. Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore told People on Friday. “She’s being held by court order until her hearing on October 22. She will be held in the same conditions as her last stay, in a keep-away unit.” Lohan has been frank about her struggles with addiction and recently tweeted about her willingness to face the repercussions of her actions after reports of her failed drug test surfaced. “Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked, I am prepared to appear before judge Fox next week as a result,” Lohan tweeted last Friday. “Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn’t go away over night. I am working hard to overcome it and am taking positive steps forward every day. I am testing every single day and doing what I must do to prevent any mishaps in the future. … This was certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I’m prepared to face the consequences.” In July, Lohan served 13 days of a 90-day jail sentence over a probation violation stemming from a 2007 DUI conviction. She followed up the jail time with 23 days court-ordered rehab, a fraction the court’s original mandate of 90 days. Lindsay Lohan Freed From Jail

Actress leaves prison after posting $300,000 bail. By Mawuse Ziegbe Lindsay Lohan at Beverly Hills Courthouse Friday Photo: Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images After spending less than a day in prison, Lindsay Lohan was released after posting $300,000 bail. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Steve Whitmore told The Associated Press that the actress left jail around 11:40 p.m. Friday night. Lohan was jailed Friday morning, a week after the actress admitted to failing a court-ordered drug test . Judge Elden Fox initially denied the troubled star bail and she was immediately taken into custody following her hearing. The move was reportedly designed to keep the actress in prison until her upcoming October 22 court date and reduce the chance of an early release due to overcrowding. However, Lohan’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, later insisted her client was entitled to bail and a second judge, Patricia M. Schnegg, overturned Fox’s ruling. Lohan is still due back in court next month. TMZ reports that Lohan is required to wear a SCRAM bracelet and avoid venues where alcohol is the “chief item of sale.” Lohan is familiar with the alcohol-monitoring device as she was outfitted with a SCRAM bracelet in May, which reportedly went off at an MTV Movie Awards afterparty. After serving 13 days of a 90-day jail sentence and 23 days of court-ordered rehab, Lohan recently conceded that she was still grappling with her addiction issues. “Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked, I am prepared to appear before judge Fox next week as a result,” Lohan tweeted a week ago. “Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn’t go away over night. I am working hard to overcome it and am taking positive steps forward every day. I am testing every single day and doing what I must do to prevent any mishaps in the future. … This was certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I’m prepared to face the consequences.” Related Videos Lindsay Lohan: Crime And Punishment Related Photos Busted!
