The singer told People: “After 18 years of breakups, makeups, beautiful twins and an unwavering love that provided some pretty damn good song lyrics, we are happy to announce that we are finally married !” They said “I do” in front of 60 friends and family members in Southern California, with their 2-year-old twins – son Lydon and daughter Hartley – serving as ring bearer and flower girl. It’s the first marriage for McGrath and Kingsland, who got engaged on New Year’s Eve 2009 when Mark proposed at the L.A. club the Viper Room, the spot where they met in 1994. David Rakoff, an award-winning author best known for his dark humor and cynical outlook on life, passed away today after a long battle with cancer. He was 47. Rakoff wrote for The New York Times and Newsweek , among other publications, and his essay collection “Half Empty” won the Thurber Prize for American Humor. He also penned the bestselling books “Don’t Get Too Comfortable” and “Fraud.” Rakoff’s death was confirmed by Doubleday and Anchor Books. “The world is a little less kind and a little less beautiful today,” his longtime editor, Bill Thomas, said in a statement, adding: “There were hundreds of reasons to love David. He was of course incredibly charming, witty and learned, a brilliant raconteur with the quickest mind imaginable, but most of all he was a generous soul. Though his life was cut infuriatingly short, it was rich beyond measure.” Doubleday will publish Rakoff’s final piece in 2013, a work titled “Love, Dishonor, Marry, Die; Cherish, Perish.”
Mary Cheney, the openly gay daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, married her longtime partner Heather Poe earlier today. Cheney spokeswoman Kara Ahern confirmed the nuptials. “Our daughter Mary and her long time partner, Heather Poe, were married today in Washington, DC,” the Cheneys said in a statement. Mary (left) and Heather “have been in a committed relationship for many years, and we are all delighted that they were able to take advantage of the opportunity to have that relationship recognized,” Dick and his wife Lynne added. “Mary and Heather and their children are very important and much loved members of our family and we wish them every happiness.” As V.P., Dick Cheney regularly broke ranks with the Republican party and president George W. Bush with his support of same-sex marriage. Poe and Mary Cheney have two children: Cheney gave birth to their son in 2007, and their daughter in 2009. They live together in Virginia. Lauryn Anabelle Martinez arrived Wednesday evening, May 2 in Los Angeles. “She’s already got a nickname – Belle,” J.R. told People of his newborn baby girl , who weighed in at 7 lbs., 13 oz. and is 21 inches long. “She has a couple of cute little freckles on her cheeks, a full head of hair and the cutest little lips,” he says. “It’s just amazing to see her. She’s beautiful.” The Iraq war veteran and Gonzalez-Jones met when he landed a role on All My Children in 2008, and announced in December that they were expecting. “God has a tremendous sense of humor and wants to continue to surround me with women,” J.R. joked in revealing that a baby girl was on the way. Teen Mom 2’s Jenelle Evans is heading to court in an effort to straighten out her life (insert joke here), with priority #1 being to gain custody of her son Jace. Just a few days after breaking up with Gary Head and deleting her Twitter account (@PBandJenelly), she’s hoping for a clean slate as she meets with a judge. Jenelle Evans wants a judge to let her off probation completely, then plans to seek custody of her Jace, currently under control of her mother Barbara. “Jenelle is trying to straighten her life out and the first step she’s taking is requesting that a judge let her out of probation,” her attorney Dustin Sullivan said. “Jenelle has actually been doing really well,” Sullivan added. “She is doing everything she is supposed to do and I’ve seen a big improvement in her life.” After breaking up with her boyfriend because of alleged abuse, Sullivan said he encouraged Jenelle to take down her Twitter and she took his advice. Her only goal now is to rebuild that relationship with Jace, Sullivan adds. “Nothing has been filed but Jenelle has expressed interest in getting custody of Jace back,” he said. “She would really like to have Jace back with her.” That would mark a dramatic reversal from what we’ve seen on Teen Mom 2 , in which Jenelle fights and yells a lot but is rarely even seen with the tyke. Sullivan said his oft-troubled 20-year-old client would be heading to court April 24 to make the request and he is hopeful that the judge will agree.
