Paul Walker has died. The actor best known for The Fast and the Furious franchise perished this afternoon in a single-car crash and explosion in California. The accident happened in Santa Clarita, north of L.A. He was 40. According to TMZ sources, Walker was in a Porsche when the driver somehow lost control and hit a post or tree, causing the car to burst into flames. Paul and another person in the car were reportedly killed. The star was at a car show to raise money for the Philippines typhoon relief effort, and sources say he was taking friends out for rides in his Porsche GT. The crash reportedly happened during the charity event. Police are all over the scene, and the L.A. County Coroner’s Office is en route. It’s unclear at this time what caused the crash or who was driving. Two victims have been pronounced dead, though neither’s identity has been made publicly available. Our hearts go out to both of their families. A native of Glendale, Calif., Walker first broke out in the late 1990s movies Pleasantville and Varsity Blues , followed by She’s All That and The Skulls . He joined the successful Fast and the Furious franchise in 2001, and most recently reprised his role as Brian O’Conner in Fast & Furious 6 in 2013. Fast & Furious 7 was announced for a 2014 debut. While promoting his latest film Hours earlier this month, Walker revealed that his 15-year-old daughter, Meadow, recently moved to live with him. Not even Beyoncé. Dr Hawass, Egypt’s former head of antiquities and gatekeeper of the Pyramids, banished Beyoncé from the ancient site after he was sickened by what he described as the star’s rudeness. “Most people I take on tours are very nice and we become friends. But this lady…,” begins Hawass, the former Minister of State for Antiquities, who lost his post during the 2011 protests and is at the centre of corruption allegations over his work for National Geographic. “She said she would come at 3pm but she came late. You know in India “Caste Matters .” According to MailOnline reports : An Indian court on Monday found a dentist couple guilty of murdering their 14-year-old daughter and a servant five years ago, in a dramatic finale to a case that transfixed the country and tapped unease on both sides of the rich-poor divide. Aarushi Talwar was found with her throat slit at the family home in Noida, an affluent town of new shopping malls and offices near Delhi, in 2008. A day later, the body of the Nepalese family servant, Hemraj, was discovered. Rajesh and Nupur Talwar were convicted in a local court in Ghaziabad, near Noida, and remanded in custody ahead of sentencing on Tuesday – they could face the death penalty. Early in the investigation, police alleged Rajesh had murdered his daughter and servant in a rage after finding them in a compromising situation – the kind of crime more often associated with rural, conservative parts of India where ‘honor killings’ are not uncommon. Naresh Yadav, a lawyer present in court, told reporters waiting outside that the couple and members of their family broke down in tears when the verdict was read out. But the case was plagued with blunders from the start. In the hours after Aarushi, was found dead in her bedroom, police named Hemraj as the prime suspect. They even dispatched a team to Nepal to look for him. But the housekeeper wasn’t missing – his body was discovered lying on a terrace above Aarushi’s room. It had been there the whole time. The Talwars came under suspicion early on, and police said the manner of the girl’s death suggested she was killed with surgical precision, a clear nod to the Talwars’ medical profession. SMH. Both parents were later charged, but the Talwars always denied the murder and blamed sensational media coverage for demonizing them and damaging their defense. Much has been made in the media of the fact that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), India’s federal detective agency, relied on circumstantial evidence to pursue the Talwars. R.K. Saini, representing the CBI, defended the prosecution. ‘There were so many circumstances that proved that no one could have committed the murder other than the two accused,’ he said. Rebecca John, one of the lawyers representing the Talwars, said they would appeal the ruling in a higher court. ‘We are deeply disappointed, hurt and anguished for being convicted for a crime that we have not committed,’ the Talwars said in a statement. ‘We refuse to feel defeated and will continue to fight for justice.’ Horrific crime stories are common in India and many involve caste or class. But the Aarushi case, in which police named Hemraj as the murder suspect before his body was found, resonated with the rapidly expanding number of well-off families who fret that their wealth makes them vulnerable to violence. Dipankar Gupta, a sociologist at Shiv Nadar University in Uttar Pradesh – the state where Noida is located – said the case highlighted how domestic staff were frequently abused by employers in India. ‘But at least now there is some progress and people are talking about it,’ he said. In the aftermath of his arrest Monday afternoon, sources close to George Zimmerman say he was lied to and framed by girlfriend Samantha Scheibe. Zimmerman insiders say she may have faked her alleged pregnancy to keep him around, then framed him when she realized he was leaving her. According to a 911 call placed by Samantha Scheibe , he threatened her with a shotgun, smashed a glass coffee table and forced her out of their house. Zimmerman, in his own 911 call (below), says she told him that she was pregnant but wanted to raise the baby alone, he agreed, and she flipped out. Now TMZ cites sources claiming that George made it clear to Samantha he was leaving Florida, and her, before the pregnancy bombshell dropped. Samantha revealed that she is six weeks pregnant, allegedly, as he tried to break it off … which he now believes was a lie devised to change his mind . George then agreed to make a child custody and support deal (which he says she asked for), but was still going to bounce. That’s when she lost it. Things came to a head when George was packing his bags to leave, according to Zimmerman’s camp, and she made up the gun scenario as revenge. Police arrested Zimmerman following the domestic dispute. With her alleged pregnancy, he is facing felony charges. If George’s side of the story proves accurate, however, that could go away in a big hurry. Either way, it’s the latest in a series of brushes with the law for Zimmerman, who was acquitted in the 2012 Trayvon Martin slaying back in July.
