Thanks to the 1993 film What’s Love Got To Do With It , which depicted the famous couple’s toxic relationship, it’s easy to forget that Tina Turner is a survivor who lived through years and years of unbelievable abuse —in real life. It was serious and now in her upcoming memoir My Love Story , excerpted by the Daily Mail , she admits the abuse she endured was even worse than fans ever knew. Too “embarrassed” to admit how bad things were with her late ex-husband Ike Turner at the time, the icon now says she was also sexually abused during their relationship. Detailing how their marriage began , she wrote in her memoir: “When Ike Turner proposed, there was nothing romantic about it. ‘You want to marry me?’ he said. Gruff, terse, no niceties. Marriage to me, he thought, was a good manoeuvre. It would help him out of a tricky situation with one of his former wives, who wanted to extract some money from him. Who knows which wife it was. By 1962, Ike had been married so many times, I’d lost track — and all those wives were in addition to the countless girlfriends who came and went with dizzying speed.” They’d gone to Mexico to marry “because they weren’t fussy about little things like having a marriage license.” After, Ike took Tina to a brothel: “You see, so long as Ike was in down-and-dirty Tijuana, he wanted to have fun, his kind of fun. So he took me to a whorehouse. On my wedding night. I’ve never, ever, told anyone this story before. I was too embarrassed. I knew they’d take time to work, so I calculated that I’d get through the opening number — which meant Ike would still get paid for the booking. I was so well trained that even my suicide had to be convenient for him. The pills, however, kicked in just as I started to put on my make-up, and I ended up being rushed to hospital. As the doctors pumped my stomach, I was fading fast. That’s when Ike moved closer and started speaking to me, probably doing his best imitation of a concerned husband. In my subconscious, I heard the voice of my tormentor, cursing me softly.” Elsewhere in her memoir, she says sex with her husband was “a kind of rape.” “In the early Seventies, he started doing cocaine — because someone had told him it would give him more stamina for sex. As if Ike Turner needed to spend another minute on his love life! He was well-endowed, and having sex was practically his full-time job. For me, though, sex with Ike had become an expression of hostility — a kind of rape — especially when it began or ended with a beating. What had been ugly and hateful between us before became worse with every snort of cocaine. He threw hot coffee in my face, giving me third-degree burns. He used my nose as a punching bag so many times that I could taste blood running down my throat when I sang. He broke my jaw. And I couldn’t remember what it was like not to have a black eye. According to Metro , the famous celebrity agent Michael Ovitz spilled all the details in his tell-all memoir Who Is Michael Ovitz. Back in the 1980s Michael pleaded with Hollywood bosses to be the next 007. It all started with a meeting at Ovitz’s home where Michael told him and Ovitz’ business partner Ron Meyer that he wanted to be “the star of an action movie.” Ovitz and Meyer couldn’t keep a straight face. Ovitz says the situation was made even more comical when Michael’s hat fell into a dish of guacamole. Michael tried to continue and sell the idea of him playing bond, but Ovitz and Meyer where still all laughs as the blob of guacamole was sliding down Michael’s hat. “Then the blob fell off, and Ron totally lost it. I cracked up, too, and Michael stalked out. I found him and explained for 15 minutes that we hadn’t been laughing at him,” Ovitz writes in his book. “Finally, Michael’s face cleared. ‘OK, Ovitz. OK,’ he said. ‘But I want to play James Bond.’ I am proud to report I didn’t laugh, this time.” Ovitz then had to explain to The King of Pop that he wasn’t the best fit for the role of Bond, which has been played by actors like Sean Connery , Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan . Ovitz argued that Michael was “thinly built, you’re too sensitive, you won’t be credible as a brutal block of stone.” Obviously, by the end of it all, Michael did not get the role of 007. Idris Elba was rumored to be our first melanated British agent, but it seems he’s shut all that down. Back in August he tweeted out “don’t believe the hype” after he jokingly tweeted , “my name’s Elba, Idris Elba.” It seems Brother Bond will have to hold off a little while longer.

One Florida man is on a mission to change this, thanks to a viral picture that’s getting some major attention. Donte Palmer , a father of three, was out eating with his family at Texas Roadhouse one Saturday when he had to change his 1-year-old son’s diaper. However, like many men’s restrooms, Palmer could not find a changing table for his son. “The argument is that they don’t exist,” Palmer said in a phone chat with Global Grind . “But they do exist in some areas, but we need more of them.” With no changing table, Palmer was forced to get creative. He assumed a squatting position while stretching his kid across his lap so he could change their diaper. Palmer’s 12-year-old son Isaiah, who he calls his diaper assistant, accompanied his dad to the restroom and while Donte was in the process of changing the diaper, Isaiah snapped a pic. When they returned to their table, the whole family had a good laugh about the picture. Two weeks later, Palmer realized the funny moment could be used for a great cause. “It dawned on me, you know what, that is a powerful picture. Why don’t we have changing tables?” Palmer uploaded the pic his son took to Instagram with the hashtag #SquatForChange and he tagged The Shade Room. Once they reposted , Palmer received love from all over. The post gained over 500,000 likes and people like D.L. Hughley , T.I. , and Tyrese voiced their support for Palmer and the need for changing tables in men’s restrooms. “Y’all already know where I’m at with it all…..None of this is fair towards fathers,” Tyrese said in the comment section for The Shade Room. Other fathers on social media have even joined in on the #SquatForChange movement, posting pictures of themselves changing their kids’ diapers in the squatting position. Now that Palmer has people’s attention, he plans to continue advocating for fathers with a non-profit called 3 Boys 1 Goal. According to their GoFundMe page, the org will have a “two-prong approach focused on researching and navigating state policies that directly impact fathers and their functioning as such, as well as creating a safe haven to provide resources and support to underprivileged young Black fathers that will directly impact their children.” Palmer — who also serves as a high school teacher — says he’s in the middle of fleshing out the specifics for the non-profit with friends, but he has high hopes. “One thing we don’t want to do is downgrade the title and the roles of a mom because moms are superheroes,” Palmer said. “But the thing we want to do is show that men are here, we do exist, and we want to be highlighted in those areas and to just make fathers better.”

Lisa Vanderpump is a reality television powerhouse. Her personality shines strong on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills , and her spin-off Vanderpump Rules can stand up on its own. Apparently, however, Lisa has been really distancing herself from her fellow Real Housewives. And it’s starting to piss them off. In May, Lisa Vanderpump’s brother was found dead of a suspected drug overdose, though it was also claimed that had intended to take his own life. Now, months later, she appears to be pushing away her co-stars on RHOB . TMZ reports that Lisa Vanderpump is making minimal effort to interact with the other Housewives, off camera but also on camera. She’s growing increasingly isolated, even totally ditching a photoshoot that the rest of the cast was doing. Erika Jayne called her out publicly for blowing them off, but they’re all pissed. Why is Lisa doing this? An obvious explanation might be her alleged feud with Dorit Kemsley. Lisa Vanderpump is a huge animal lover. She runs a rescue, she has a foundation to support the rights of non-human animals — particularly, dogs and cats. Lisa has a rescue, and Dorit adopted a dog from Lisa’s rescue. The rumor was that Dorit dropped off the dog at some random animal shelter and that Lisa is feuding with her over it. While that would leave Lisa (or anyone) pretty justifiably peeved, that is apparently not what happened. As Lisa explained to TMZ , she and Dorit don’t have a feud going. In fact, she says that Dorit didn’t drop off the dog at an animal shelter — she attempted to rehome the dog to a friend. It was apparently this alleged friend who instead chose to abandon the dog at a shelter. Thankfully, all of the dogs from Lisa’s rescue are chipped so they were able to recover the dog. When you adopt a dog, they become a part of your family. Dorit must have felt incredibly betrayed when this so-called friend ditched the dog. But if Lisa doesn’t have an issue with Dorit … what’s going on? Whatever beef is going on among the Real Housewives, TMZ is told that no one is sharing what it is. Obviously, the franchise runs on feuds. Feuds are its fuel and lifeblood. But unresolved tension that doesn’t play out on camera doesn’t do much good for the show — especially if the women can’t even film together. We hope that whatever it is can be worked out, even if it gets played up for the cameras. There is another possibility, however. What if the sudden death of her brother shook Lisa’s world to the point where she no longer feels invested in The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills ? When you’ve lost a sibling like that, it can make you reevaluate your priorities. But we have to say that it’s more likely that she’s just still grieving him. That is a very normal and healthy process, and it might mean that you seem a little distant from others. Outside of a certain cotton candy-haired McDonald’s and bigotry enthusiast, it’s hard to think of a more divisive public figure than Kanye West. We have a couple of important updates on the whereabouts and conditions of Demi Lovato. Following multiple reports that claimed the artist was seeking treatment far away from the bad influences that plagued her life for months in Los Angeles, we can now confirm the following: This is accurate. Lovato is in Utah. According to Radar Online, the 26-year old is recovering from her near-fatal overdose, along with her substance abuse problem in general, somewhere in the Salt Lake City area. She’s in a treatment faclity for certain, but it’s one that offers its residents a great deal of freedom. To wit, an employee at a local coffee shop says Lovato has often stopped by at various points in the last few weeks. “She seemed happy to be out getting fresh air,” this worker told Radar, adding of Demi : “The other day, she sat alone for like 30 minutes staring out the window. But it looked like she was hopeful and in good spirits.” The first photo of Lovato out and about seems to back up this claim. In an image posted by TMZ on Saturday, Lovato is holding a cup of coffee, wearing a baseball cap and talking to a lady whose holding a dog on a leash. The snapshot (which you can see here ) was taken two months, almost to the day, after Lovato was found unconscious in her Hollywood Hills bedroom. An assistant discovered the singer in this state and dialed 911, prompting paramedics to rush to the scene; revive the superstar; and transport her to the hospital. Demi had been out the night before with some friends and then called her drug dealer upon arriving back at her residence; it remains unknown exactly what she snorted or smoked or injected that caused her to pass out. But insiders do say she appears to be doing well all these weeks later. “Demi has lost some weight and she’s feeling better,” a source tells Us Weekly, expounding as follows: “She’s repositioning herself again and getting her life back on track and retraining herself on the 12 steps to recovery. She is doing much better and eventually she will come back to L.A.” This trip marks the third time Lovato has checked into rehab. Those close to the singer hope that coming so very close to dying will serve as the wake-up call she finally needs to hopefully kick her dangerous habit forever. Prior to falling off the wagon this spring, Lovato had been sober for six years. Just a few days ago, Lovato’s mom spoke out for the first time since the horrifying overdose, opening up about how close she came to losing her daughter . “We just didn’t know for two days if she was going to make it or not,” Dianna De La Garza said. Back on August 5, meanwhile, Lovato broke her own silence and issued the following statement on Instagram: I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet. I want to thank God for keeping me alive and well. To my fans, I am forever grateful for all of your love and support throughout this past week and beyond.
