I feel like I’ve had such a hard time sharing my love life that now I’m a little bit more reserved on that,” Kim told MTV News. While Kim may not want to talk about Kanye, her younger sister Khloe has no problems discussing their relationship, revealing that the rapper has brought out the star’s “wild side.” We don’t believe you girl. By Gil Kaufman Demi Lovato Photo: Tom Pennington/ Getty Images America will meet the rebooted panel of the “X Factor” on Monday and filling the fourth slot at the judge’s table will be Demi Lovato . The 19-year-old Disney star is expected to make the announcement of her high-profile gig on Monday at the Fox network upfront presentation, which will also officially reveal the worst-kept-secret in TV: that Britney Spears has joined the show as well. Lovato is one of the many names that has been in the mix for the gig, which at one point also included Avril Lavigne, Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey. TMZ confirmed that Lovato has scored the gig, which will put her on alongside series creator Simon Cowell and music executive L.A. Reid when the show comes back for its second season in the fall. Last week, Spears finalized her deal, which will reportedly pay her $15 million for one season’s work. Spears and Lovato replace Paula Abdul and former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, who were fired in January after the first season of the heavily-hyped show failed to live up to Cowell’s lofty expectations. Both Lovato and Spears are expected to be on hand on Monday when Fox announces the show’s new lineup at its upfront presentations. Though Lovato has a summer tour planned , those dates will reportedly not conflict with her new duties on “X Factor.” A spokesperson for “X Factor” could not be reached for comment at press time. Last week, MTV News asked some media experts whether the move to “X Factor” makes sense for Spears and the general consensus was that it did. “I think it is a good move, actually,” said Entertainment Weekly writer Tanner Stransky. “I think she has so many people on her team watching what she’s doing and being careful. I think nobody would let her take a misstep, but I think it’s the right move right now.” The only concern is how the reclusive star might deal with the increased scrutiny and requirement to think on her feet on live TV. “I think everyone is a little concerned, simply because Britney has been very press-shy since she’s been in her conservatorship, and everything is incredibly guarded and incredibly controlled,” said Keith Caulfield, associate director of charts at Billboard . “And there can be uncontrollable moments on ‘The X Factor,’ and if things are not completely in control and things are not rehearsed, things could go wrong. With a live show, anything can happen, and that can be very exciting but, at the same time, a little worrisome.” Lovato and Spears, 30, are the kind of young singers that “X Factor” producers were seemingly looking for to give the show a more youthful appeal and share their experience with contestants. ‘All I’ve heard is that it’s very scandalous, to say the least,’ Dobrev tells MTV News of the best-selling book. By Jocelyn Vena Nina Dobrev Photo: MTV News Nina Dobrev hasn’t read the best-selling “Fifty Shades of Grey” just yet, but with every young starlet’s name floating around as a possible contender for the female lead, literature student Anastasia Steele , she might want to start reading up. “All I’ve heard is that it’s very scandalous, to say the least,” the “Vampire Diaries” star told MTV News. “I haven’t read it, but who knows? I mean, well, I guess we’ll have to see.” Fans of the erotic trilogy might not mind seeing Dobrev get her S&M on with her “Diaries” co-star Ian Somerhalder in the big-screen adaptation of the E L James book. But she confessed that if she does play the part, she wouldn’t want to have Somerhalder playing the millionaire beau, Christian Grey . “I don’t know if that’s a good idea,” she said. “I think it’s best for any of the actors on the ‘Vampire Diaries’ to kind of do their own things … and create new characters. And as much as you try when you shoot a movie, if it’s two of the same people, the fans will always see you as … they’ll see me as Elena and they’ll see him as Damon if we do a film together.” So, that means “Fifty” fans will only get either Dobrev or Somerhalder if either gets cast in the film. And Dobrev is most certainly rooting for him. “I think it would be better [if] either he should get it or I should get it,” she said. “I know that apparently he’s really great for the role, so I hope that he gets it.” Given how sexy the book is, casting might not be the only challenge. Some fans are wondering how they can adapt the highly charged sex scenes for an R-rated version of the film . “Making this movie will absolutely be a challenge. It is going to take a devoted director who admittedly likes the books and understands that, first and foremost, this is a love story,” Lisa Parker from FiftyShadesFilm.com told MTV News. “If telling the love story is the main focus, then we do believe the steamy sex scenes can be shot and edited in a way to get us an R-rated movie rather than NC-17 … [the fans] are confident that Ms. James will protect the integrity of her story regardless of the ultimate rating.” Who would you like to see cast in the film version of “Fifty Shades of Grey”? The track record for male winners on ‘Idol’ is spotty at best, and not promising for either man. By Gil Kaufman Joshua Ledet and Phillip Phillips on “American Idol” Photo: FOX When it comes to “American Idol” , sometimes the only way to win is to lose. In general, the show has a checkered history of creating superstars, with only two winners who could legitimately claim that title: season one’s Kelly Clarkson and season four’s Carrie Underwood. But until last season’s anomalous Scotty McCreery (you kind of have to give him a pass because he’s a country star and that’s a whole different audience than the more fickle pop/R&B one), the show’s track record when it comes to male winners has been pretty dismal. We bring this up because either Phillip Phillips or Joshua Ledet, or possibly both of them, will be in the “Idol” season 11 finale in two weeks. Both men have carved their own unique lanes and deserve a shot at the title, but unlike McCreery, at this point, neither of those lanes screams “platinum star.” Phillips has clearly skated through the contest on his good looks, earnest, “aw, shucks” demeanor, gritty vocals and did we mention how cute he is? But his foot stomping, growling Dave Matthews Lite sound is hardly the kind that is tearing up the charts these days. It’s also hard to imagine all those squealing girl fans rushing out to buy a moody, jammy CD of introspective acoustic ballads seven months from now. Similarly, Ledet has earned a legion of fans for his soaring, church-bred brand of old school soul. He has rightfully earned his praise, but his Al Green/Otis Redding delivery is an anachronism . Just ask Ray Charles impersonator and season five winner Taylor Hicks. Unless mentor Jimmy Iovine and his crew can figure out a way to pull a Bruno Mars on Ledet and make him seem contemporary, he could end up like Hicks, who followed his platinum debut by being dropped a year later by Arista Records and then plummeting into obscurity. Hicks isn’t alone among “Idol”‘s male winners, either. Season two champ Ruben Studdard rushed out of the gate with a smash debut in 2003, then followed with a poor-selling gospel album, a flop return to R&B form third effort and then, yes, a separation from his label and difficulty getting his swag back since. Though he appeared on Wednesday night’s show playing his new single, season seven champ David Cook has also gone from a platinum-selling debut to a second album that barely sold 120,000 and then being dropped from his deal. The jury is still out on season eight winner Kris Allen. The first-week sales for his self-titled 2009 debut were the lowest-ever at that point for an “Idol” champ at barely 80,000, topping out just shy of 330,000. Allen’s second major-label album, Thank You Camellia , is due out later this month. The biggest cautionary tale of a cute male singer with a very specific sound and a seemingly inflexible will to do things their way is season nine winner Lee DeWyze. With a similarly low-key persona and guitar-strumming delivery, DeWyze set the new low bar for male “Idol” winner when his debut, Live It Up had the worst-selling first week ever for a champ (39,000), then fell 74 slots in week two before completely disappearing a short time later after selling less than 170,000 copies. He was, not surprisingly, let go by his label a short time later and has been off the radar ever since. Season 10 winner McCreery has turned things around, with a platinum debut and strong support from the country community, but with Ledet and Phillips unable to county on the loyalty of country fans to boost their post-“Idol” careers, they won’t have the same built-in fanbase McCreery tapped into. It’s worth noting that even though female winners such as Fantasia and Jordin Sparks have not always reached the heights of Clarkson and Underwood, no female “Idol” winner has ever been dropped by her major label. Pop star will donate all the song’s proceeds to the Bethesda Centre, which helps single moms. The song, a guitar-driven ballad titled “Turn to You,” breaks down the pair’s life together, and their early struggles as Mallette worked to raise a baby Bieber as a teenager. Over jangly guitars, Bieber recalls, “You worked two jobs to keep a roof up over our heads/ You chose life for me, no you never gave up/ I admire you for the strength you instilled in me/ You were so young, you were just my age when you had me/ Mom, you were so brave, there was nothing that would stop or get in our way/ And I know you will always be there for me.” The song’s empowering message really picks up on the chorus, when he proclaims, “So when you’re lost/ And you’re tired when you’re broken in two/ Let my love take you higher cause I still turn to you.” Proceeds from sales of the song will go to Salvation Army’s Bethesda Centre , a charity that Mallette turned to after she got pregnant. The organization’s site notes that funding is low and that donations are needed to keep the doors open. Bieber, it seems, is looking to do his part. “I wrote a song for my mom. But I’m going to put it out on Mother’s Day,” he told MTV News, explaining why Mama Mallette was worthy of her own track, “[It’s] about the struggles, I say in the song. She had me at like the age I am now. [It’s about] just the struggles she went through and how brave she was, and I think the world needed to know that.” Shortly after releasing the song on Thursday, he had a very specific message for all the moms out there: “Help moms in need. ‘They are going to have to balance the sexy versus the smutty,’ one expert tells MTV News of fine line between R and NC-17. By Christina Garibaldi “Fifty Shades of Grey” Photo: The Writer’s Coffee Shop “Fifty Shades of Grey” is on quite the hot streak lately — so hot, it’s even been pulled from some library shelves . Millions of readers can’t put down E.L James’ erotic novel, which started out as fan fiction based on Edward Cullen and Bella Swan in “Twilight.” The book follows the unlikely romance of college student Anastasia Steele and billionaire tycoon Christian Grey. Both are looking for different things out of the romance: She yearns for lasting love while he’s strictly in it for the S&M. From the plot alone, it’s easy to see why “Fifty Shades” has become a best-seller, and now that it’s been picked up by Universal Pictures and Focus Features to be made into a movie, the question is: How can a book that screams for an NC-17 rating actually be made into an R-rated flick? “Making this movie will absolutely be a challenge. It is going to take a devoted director who admittedly likes the books and understands that, first and foremost, this is a love story,” Lisa Parker from FiftyShadesFilm.com told MTV News. “If telling the love story is the main focus, then we do believe the steamy sex scenes can be shot and edited in a way to get us an R-rated movie rather than NC-17.” Another factor to keep in mind is that bigger actors may be more eager to take on the lead roles if the content is a little more conservative. Robert Pattinson and Ian Somerhalder have already been rumored for the role of Christian Grey , and they might be wary to tackle an NC-17 movie. The director and screenwriter will also have to find a balance between the emotional love story and the sensual scenes, since the intimate part of the story is one of the big reasons people are clamoring to get their hands on this book. “I think they are most definitely going to have a challenge,” Mags Vazquez from LatersBaby.net said. “They are going to have to balance the sexy versus the smutty, and I think they’ll have a challenge, but it’s something that I’m sure they will be able to do tastefully.” If the studio is going for an R-rated film, readers will have to understand that not every sexual plotline of the story will make it onto the big screen. “I hopefully think the fans would be realistic and understand that they can’t show some of the things that they are talking about in that book,” Vazquez acknowledged. On the other hand, the sexual content of the story is what has made “Fifty Shades” so popular, and Parker believes that if it had an NC-17 rating attached to it, fans of the book will still make it a point to see the film. “That doesn’t mean that we believe having an NC-17 rating attached to this movie would make it less wildly popular. … The scenes that could make it necessary for this rating are part of the story, part of what makes ‘Fifty,’ ‘Fifty,’ “Parker said. “They also inform the relationship between Christian and Ana. ‘90210’ and ‘Saved by the Bell’ make MTV News’ list of other memorable prom episodes. And, it comes complete with a fun little One Direction cover and, according to star Dianna Agron, some “surprising moments.” Well, that sounds about right given the show’s penchant for spot-on covers and love for twists and turns. Like any great TV show, the “Glee” prom follows in the grand tradition of small-screen formals, where true love blooms and occasionally trouble brews. MTV News has rounded up some of the most memorable prom-themed episodes that, if you have the time, you might want to check out before the McKinley students get their groove on. And, yes, it seems that art of the perfect prom episode really hit its stride back in the ’90s, if you couldn’t tell by our picks. “Saved By The Bell,” 1990 Zach made sure that nothing would allow Kelly to miss her prom. After her dad loses his job, Kelly sacrifices her dream of going to the school dance to save money. But Zach, being the dreamboat that he is, arranged a private prom for the couple, right outside the school. Their private dance is even more special since it was the first time they kissed in the show’s history. Beverly Hills 90210, 1991 Well, it wasn’t the prom, but it was the spring dance and it was filled with drama that included Brenda and Kelly both showing up in the same black, off-the-shoulder dress complete with bow detailing. Dra-ma indeed! The episode was particularly memorable because it also included Brenda getting it on for the first time with her boo, Dylan. That’s a saucy way to deal with a fashion faux pas. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, 1993 It was a “very special episode” of the show that focused on Carlton accidentally popping speed pills that were in Cousin Will’s locker. After getting a pimple, Carlton hopes that Vitamin E can help it shrink, but instead of taking vitamins he ends up amped up on drugs. He begins to act erratically at the dance, and winds up in the hospital. He tries to cover for Will, but Will does the right thing and fesses up. Buffy The Vampire Slayer, 1999 Star-crossed lovers Buffy and her hottie vampire beau Angel ended their love affair for good right before prom, much to the Slayer’s surprise. Bottom line, she’s pretty upset about it. When Hell hounds trained to kill anyone in formal wear threaten the dance, dateless B decides to skip it to save everyone. Thrills and chills ensue and she saves the day, shows up to the dance in her lovely lavender gown, wins a prize for being Class Protector and — boom — Angel appears for one last dance. Dawson’s Creek, 2000 Those enterprising kids of Capeside decided to stick it to the man by throwing an anti-prom, after Jack’s decision to bring a male date to the prom gets shut down by the prom committee. From there, Dawson tries to win Joey back, but she still has Pacey on the brain (who could blame her?).
