We’ve seen enough crazy weather in the last 12 months to no longer have to question whether or not global warming exists. But contrary to what some would have you believe, the US didn’t single-handedly destroy the environment with our love of S.U.V.s and penchant for waste. The World Health Organization just conducted a study to see who the biggest polluters are across the globe. The WHO study looked at air quality in 91 countries, measured by the amount of PM10 particles per cubic meter. PM10 particles are particles of 10 micrometers or less that can cause diseases and infections. According to the WHO, PM10 levels above 20 micrograms per cubic meter can cause health risks. The top ten most polluted countries have PM10 levels from six times to 14 times that level. Dayum! Which countries managed to hit those levels? And where does the U.S. fall in all of this? After ‘DISconnected’ premieres Monday at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, Vinny will take part in an MTV News special discussing digital abuse. By Eric Ditzian Vinny Guadagnino Photo: MTV News Long before Vinny Guadagnino was beating the beat on “Jersey Shore” (and beating off the attention of club-hopping ladies), he was a gawky kid getting picked on by high school girls. “I was really awkward-looking and I got bullied a lot — especially by the hot girls,” he recently told MTV News. “I was cool enough to sit at the popular table with the hot girls, but at the same time, I wasn’t the most popular kid at that table. They would make fun of me and it would really hurt me, because you don’t want the girls thinking that you’re a loser.” How times have changed. But Vinny hasn’t forgotten what it’s like to be bullied, and he’s made an effort to use his celebrity to bring attention to the issue, taking part in MTV’s A Thin Line campaign to empower kids to identify, respond to, and stop the spread of digital abuse. On Monday, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, the channel is set to premiere “DISconnected,” a film about online bullying. After the movie, Vinny will take part in an MTV News special to discuss these issues. Though he’s now a celebrity with almost 2 million Twitter followers, he still encounters digital abuse. Not long ago, he posted a YouTube video with some of his young cousins in the background and, as he put it, “some hater called a little girl in the background fat.” “I’ve learned not to let it affect me, but there are other people that can be affected by it,” Vin added. “That’s why I want to share a message with young kids that whenever someone is pointing the finger at you, they have a ton of problems themselves that are making them do that. The couple shared the stage as Bieber performed in Rio de Janeiro, his second night in the city on his My World Tour . As if debuting his Christmas single, “Mistletoe,” wasn’t enough of a present for his Brazilian fans, they got the chance to see the teen pop couple perform together. Bieber teased the performance in the hours leading up to his big show, tweeting , “Had a lil fun last night in RIO … show #2 in RIO is 2nite … got some very special guests with me 2nite. #Mistletoe.” He later added, “Hearing @CobraStarship killing it out there … almost time RIO … i got a big surprise tonight. #BRAZIL #myworldtour.” Footage from the performance shows Bieber walking offstage as Gomez comes out to sing her song “Who Says.” Toward the end of the song, Bieber returned to sing a few lines, and the pair embraced before Gomez exited the stage. Bieber later tweeted, “RIO!!! CRAZY!! thanks to @selenagomez for helping me do something special for the crowd. a duet never hurt nobody. WHO SAYS.” OK! magazine reports that Tuesday, the pair was spotted touring the city and taking a helicopter ride. On Wednesday night, Gomez was photographed backstage watching her boyfriend perform. Bieber’s next tour stop is Sao Paolo. While rocking South America, Bieber announced he’s releasing the official version of his single earlier than originally planned: “Thanks to all the love ITUNES is now releasing #MISTLETOE early … now coming #OCT17th !!! spread the world … we r going for our first #1!!” he tweeted. His November 1 holiday album, Under the Mistletoe, will feature appearances from Boyz II Men, Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes, Usher and the Band Perry. Now, nearly every rap release includes at least one song that pulls on the heart strings of women, and artists like Ja Rule, Fabolous and Drake have dedicated much of their catalog to the fairer sex. For an artist like Drake , his ability to speak to women on songs like “Best I Ever Had,” “Find Your Love,” “Fancy” and “Marvins Room” has earned him an adoring and dedicated female fanbase. As an MC, he has worked alongside Bun B, Ludacris and David Banner, and last week, he landed his biggest production credit yet with T.I. On “I’m Flexin’,” Tip’s first single since being released from Prison last week, the Meridian, Mississippi, producer gave the Grand Hustle CEO a rocked-tinged, Southern-fried banger. “Tip got out and he reached out to my folks to see what we’re trying to do, as far as Southern hip-hop is concerned,” K.R.I.T. told MTV News on the black carpet for the taping of the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards in Atlanta. “It’s just a blessing. He reached out and wanted to work. I sent the record, he liked the record, he jumped on it, and it is what it is. I’m glad it came out in a timely fashion.” Though T.I. had been in a halfway house since September 15 and allowed to work in the studio, he officially satisfied his sentence on Thursday; “I’m Flexin’ ” was released the next day. “I just wanted to make something super jammin’, something organic and vintage-sounding, as far as Southern hip-hop is concerned,” Krizzle explained. “I felt like when he heard it, he knew exactly where I was trying to go with it. And he killed that sh–, so it worked out.” “The record is hot,” DJ Drama, T.I.’s longtime collaborator , told MTV News about “I’m Flexin’ ” days before it was released. “Big K.R.I.T. deserves it. He’s been working for a long time. ‘I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully,’ she writes after a hemorrhage in her vocal cord. According to her record label, the “Someone Like You” singer suffered a hemorrhage in her vocal cord and she will now have to cancel her upcoming sold-out 10-city tour. The hemorrhage seems a more serious condition than the laryngitis she suffered when she was forced to cancel other dates earlier this year. Adele expressed sadness in being forced to cancel the tour via an emotional post on her website: “Singing is literally my life, it’s my hobbie, my love, my freedom and now my job. I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully, or I risk damaging my voice forever. I have great confidence in believing you know how much this upsets me, how seriously I take it and how truly devastated and annoyed I am by this,” she wrote. “Wanting to do something so bad and not being able to is the most frustrating thing as I’m sure you know! “My voice is weak and I need to build it back up. I’m gonna be starting up vocal rehab [soon] and start building my over all stamina in my voice, body and mind,” she continued. “I will be back and I’m gonna smash the ball out the park once I’m touring again. I apologise from the bottom of my heart, sincerely I do. I know it’s not only disappointing because of the show, but it’s plane tickets, hotel bookings, birthdays, anniversaries and time wasted. But please have faith in me that this is the only thing I can do to make sure I can always sing and always make music for you to the best of my ability.
