Katy Perry Talks Grammy Performance, Tour

Singer says her Grammy appearance will ‘show a different side.’ By Jocelyn Vena Katy Perry Photo: Chelsea Lauren/ FilmMagic This is shaping up to be another big year for Katy Perry. She’s gearing up to release a new single, possibly “E.T.,” her dance ode to loving an alien, and she’s also set to perform at the Grammy Awards next month. “I’m going to do something beyond that,” Perry tells Zap2it about the performance, for which she’ll be pulling from hits like “Teenage Dream,” “Firework” and “California Gurls” and maybe even including a surprise or two. “I’m going to do a really cool, heartfelt song that I really love, and show a different side. I think I’ll do a medley of sorts, too, but not too much. It’ll be quite a surprise.” On February 20, just days after the February 13 Grammy broadcast, Perry will be kicking off her California Dreams Tour in Portugal, and she admits she’s working hard to get herself together for it. “It’s like training for the Olympics,” she said. “I’m off to the gym to build stamina … and I hate working out, but I have to go, because this is a really energetic show. It’s not like I’m going to make my fortune off of touring; I’m basically doing this as a big I.O.U. for all the love and support I’ve gotten. I need to go shake some hands and kiss some people.” Perry will bring the tour to the States in June, and she’s been tweeting all about her plans for the show. “[Opening act] @robynkonichiwa [Robyn] and I will be dancing up a storm watching your set! Can’t wait, BTE!… best tour ever!” she wrote . “I feel like this tour is building a bridge between the hipsters & the popsters. Hip-Pop is so 2011. Get wit it. #californiadreamstour!” Related Photos 2011 Grammy Performers Related Artists Katy Perry

Thirsty hoes love them some 50 Tyson! Apparently the worst rapper alive is causing b*tches to drop trou and is currently the center of a new Twitter beef. A NSFW video of a woman stripping down to her bare minimums with a song professing her love to 50 Tyson surfaced the other day. Her name is Erin Denise but she goes by the moniker “Mrs. 50 Tyson.” The video was posted in hopes of “marrying him someday.” Strange right? But something tells us that this video with the girl’s goodies all out was done to attract more than the eyes of 50 Tyson. And who was there to snap back, but the other woman, aka, “Boots,” with her very own video debut! Clearly these two hoes are just trying to suck the fame t*t via the worst YouTube celeb to date. Jennifer Lopez’s ‘American Idol’ Past: A Look Back

J.Lo first surfaced on season six as a mentor, drawing on her dance roots to motivate ‘Idol’ wannabes. By Eric Ditzian “American Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez Photo: Tony Duran / FOX Who could have predicted that when Jennifer Lopez appeared on “American Idol” in 2007 and pronounced her love for the infamous Sanjaya Malakar that the diva-turned-guest mentor would one day return to the reality competition? But return she has, this time as a judge. As we prepare for her debut Wednesday night (January 19), alongside Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler , we’re taking a look back at J.Lo’s season-six “Idol” appearance, looking for clues as to how she’ll handle the tricky task of being both entertaining and instructive in the course of a seconds-long sound bite. Lopez stepped into “Idol” world for Latin night, when there were eight contestants still vying for the crown. What shines through most during her rehearsals with the singers is her desire to be supportive. When Haley Scarnato struggled to inject some passion into her performance, Lopez invited beat-boxing impresario Blake Lewis into the room to provide some energy. And instead of slamming Phil Stacey for butchering Santana’s “Maria Maria,” she urged him to imagine singing to someone as a way to connect with the emotional core of the tune. “The songs have to mean something,” Lopez explained. “They have to come from somewhere. Otherwise you just leave people feeling vacant.” That’s a key insight, even if it’s a bit obvious, and it’ll bear repeating again and again as the new contestants move onto increasingly bigger stages as the competition progresses. But it’s not just compassion and assistance with vocals that Lopez provided to the season-six crew. She also drew on her years as a dancer to help with the contestants’ theatricality. “Ride the rhythm,” she told LaKisha Jones as the two shimmied side by side. J.Lo also hoped that eventual winner Jordin Sparks would infuse her performances with more hip-shaking mojo, saying, “Let the rhythm in her body just move her a little bit.” Mentoring contestants for one day, of course, is a very different task than judging them for an entire season. It remains to be seen if Lopez will channel her ’07 performance during the new season, or whether she’ll seek to stake out new territory or fill in perceived personality gaps left by the departures of Simon Cowell, Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi. What is clear is that even before she became an official “Idol” employee, she understood what separates the also-rans and wannabes from the singers who make it to the very end. “When [viewers] watch you guys every night, they’re like, ‘Who’s going to give me goosebumps?,’ ” she told the final-eight. “It doesn’t necessarily mean the one who hits the highest note. It’s the one who makes them feel good.” How do you think J.Lo will do on “Idol”? Tell us in the comments! ‘Game Of Thrones’ Star Sean Bean On Playing ‘A Good Man For A Change’

Bean plays Eddard ‘Ned’ Stark in upcoming HBO drama. By Kara Warner Sean Bean in “Game of Thrones” Photo: Helen Sloan/ HBO The series premiere is still months away, but it’s never too early to talk about HBO’s upcoming epic “Game of Thrones,” based on George R.R. Martin’s fantasy book series “A Song of Ice and Fire.” It’s a loaded, layered drama, but to summarize, think one part sword-wielding medieval fantasy, a la “Lord of the Rings,” and one part sex-charged fight for power, like “The Tudors” or “The Sopranos.” MTV News recently caught up with a few key cast members at the Television Critics Association press tour, where young star Emilia Clarke revealed the hazards of shooting racy scenes. We also spoke to actor Sean Bean, a veteran of sorts when it comes to the fantasy genre, although usually in roles of a villainous nature. In “Game of Thrones,” Bean plays Eddard “Ned” Stark, a noble commanding officer and Lord of Winterfell, the northernmost territory in Martin’s fictional world. Given Bean’s resume, particularly his work in “Lord of the Rings,” we asked the English actor whether he had any reservations in taking on another role in the fantasy genre. “I seem to be quite drawn to the medieval, magical fantasies, as it were,” he said. “It was such a good part, and I read the book and the character, and I just really wanted to play it, so I didn’t have any doubts whatsoever,” Bean assured us. He said diving into the world of “Thrones” was a completely new experience. “I wasn’t aware of the books at first, and I wasn’t aware of how big a following it had,” Bean admitted. “And then when I realized it, I talked to David Benioff, the writer, who I worked with on ‘Troy.’ He’s a great guy, does some great dialogue, and it’s just a wonderful production.” Bean went on to say that HBO’s involvement sweetened the deal. “Knowing you’ve got the backing of HBO and the quality of them, I thought, ‘Wow, this is a great role,’ ” he said. “[Ned is] a good guy as well, a good man for a change for me,” he said with a smile. ‘American Idol’ Judge Steven Tyler Talks Sex, Drugs On ‘Howard Stern’

Aerosmith singer doesn’t hold back on the eve of his family-friendly new gig. By Gil Kaufman Steven Tyler Photo: Kevin Kane/ WireImage This is not going to be your grandma’s “American Idol.” When the show that’s beloved by everyone from tweens with blue hair to their indigo-coiffed nanas comes back Wednesday night with the first episode of season 10, it will have more surprises than the ones we’ve already told you about . “Idol” has always been a kind of wholesome family affair that the entire clan can sit down and watch together without worrying about foul language, nudity or any other PG-13 antics. That’s before new judge Steven Tyler came onboard, so don’t be surprised if your sixth-grader starts asking, “Mommy, what’s a Lunesta?” or “Daddy, what’s a three-way?” Tyler has done it all as the lead singer of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame act Aerosmith, and he’s not afraid to talk about it in its X-rated glory, even when promoting his new G-rated gig. Appearing as the surprise guest on Howard Stern’s Sirius satellite radio show Tuesday (January 18), the motor-mouthed rocker made a modest attempt to play down his colorful past, but still ended up discussing the kind of sex, drugs and rock-and-roll debauchery you’ve never heard about from any of the past “Idol” judges. Tyler left no stone unturned, speaking about everything from the inspiration for the song “Big 10 Inch Record” (hint: it’s not about vinyl) to masturbation, his active (and colorful) sex life with his current girlfriend, his love of guns, multiple trips to rehab for drugs and Penthouse Forum-worthy backstage activities with his sweetie and an eager groupie during a recent Aerosmith tour. “He’s angry with me for what? Because I took f—ing ‘Idol’? What a crock of sh–!” he responded vehemently when Stern asked if the TV gig was putting even more distance between Tyler and Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry. “Wait till Wednesday,” he teased. “I saw the debut … I’m not a TV guy, I’m a rock-and-roll junkie whore. I’m not used to your stuff, [but] it blew me away,” he added about the emotions he felt watching the first 10 minutes of the debut episode. Though he complained about his bandmates sometimes kicking him when he’s down (or in rehab), Tyler said he loves his Aerosmith pals dearly and said he explained to them that “Idol” was a good chance for him to slow down and get off the road for a while to rest his chronic and painful foot condition. “This is something else I could get into and see if it was a good fit,” he said. Putting aside his belief that no one can really be a star without paying their dues in a million dingy clubs (though his wording was much more colorful on Stern’s show), Tyler, 62, said he realized it’s a new day in the music biz, and after boiling 700 contestants down to 20, he finally gets the show. “It’s something that I’ve never got into because I never caught the rhythm of the show,” he said. “When you watch it, you kind of fall in love with this guy … there’s some people who sing their ass off.” He also explained for the first time how he got the gig, saying he was writing a song with former judge Kara DioGuardi last year for a Japanese movie, and she got him thinking about the show. Tyler said producers came to him after Aerosmith’s 2010 summer tour ended and made an offer. “She [DioGuardi] was talking to [executive producer] Nigel [Lythgoe] … and so Nigel got to management,” and that got the ball rolling, though Tyler said he swiftly rejected the show’s first offer with a brusque “f— that!” And, in another breach of past “Idol” etiquette, Tyler alluded to his payday for the gig. When Stern suggested that fellow newbie judge Jennifer Lopez was earning $12 million a year on the show, Tyler sniggered and said, “More!,” then instantly realized he may have crossed a line in discussing his paycheck. When Stern countered that perhaps it was more like $18 million, Tyler declined to answer, but did admit that he’s free to bail after one season if things don’t work out. But when it came to discussing their sex life, Tyler wasn’t so shy, with his girlfriend admitting that he’s still got plenty of stamina and never needs Viagra to get his motor running. “It gives me a headache!” he demurred of the male impotence drug, before describing his first experience on the pill a few years ago, as well as the laundry list of exotic drugs he did back in the bad old days of his addiction. In fact, it was Tyler who asked Stern if he’d ever been with two women at the same time, telling the radio host that it was “the secret to life.” But when the singer’s girlfriend suggested that she and Tyler had already invited another woman into their circle of trust, the Aerosmith frontman suddenly got a bit more squeamish and tried to change the subject. “Ah, Jesus, we’re on television!” he moaned about the Stern TV cameras focused on him, before again insisting that it hadn’t (yet) happened, but might in the future. But, soon enough, the story about the backstage tryst unfolded and Tyler groaned, “Wouldn’t you know, it would go to here?” Finally, after nearly an hour of the most unconventional “Idol” judge interview ever, he’d had enough when she divulged the gritty details of the encounter. “You’re going too far!” he yelled. “No more! No more Joe Perry, no more the band! No more sex. We got too close. It’s enough.” Asked if he was being shy because of ” ‘Idol’ and his new image,” Tyler snorted, “F— no!” Don’t miss our “American Idol” live stream “Judging the Judges: An ‘Idol’ Without Simon,” featuring post-show analysis from Jim Cantiello and special guests, on MTV.com this Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET. ‘Dilemma’ Stars Vince Vaughn And Kevin James Share Some Man-Love

‘I could get hit by a car tomorrow and know Kevin James knows the love I have for him,’ Vaughn tells MTV News. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Vince Vaughn and Kevin James Photo: MTV News “The Dilemma” overflows with relationship drama: between Vince Vaughn’s fast-talking Ronny and his girlfriend, Beth; Kevin James’ kind-hearted Nick and his wife, Geneva; and Geneva and her extramarital boy toy, Zip. But perhaps the most tension-filled relationship is the one between Ronny and Nick. Best buds since their days at Ball State, the two are in business together, attempting to construct an electrical car engine that captures the bone-shaking energy of old-school muscle cars. But as the title of the film suggests, an unwelcome intrusion in the form of Nick’s philandering wife enters the picture, causing some bromance-compromising secrecy between the friends. When it comes to their own working relationship, though, Vaughn and James insist on full honesty and the healthy expression of their affection for each other. “I’ve taken every opportunity to be direct and tell this guy I love him,” Vaughn laughed in an interview with MTV News. “I could get hit by a car tomorrow and know Kevin James knows the love I have for him.” James, however, worried that perhaps he hasn’t gone far enough, that perhaps a full-court, flowers-and-candy effusion of man-love is in order. “I don’t think I’ve expressed enough of my love for Vince Vaughn,” he said. “I don’t know if that’s being an honest thing or you let it leak in slowly — you don’t want to overdo it too much, because you don’t want to frighten the person you love so much.” What, may we ask, has given birth to such dude-on-dude worship? Both men seem cut from the same comedic cloth and found themselves working together to hit new jokes and routines that weren’t originally on the page. “Right away, we collaborated with the script,” Vaughn said. “Kevin is so funny. He’s such a good writer. Such good ideas that we were making each other laugh and having fun coming up with stuff. It always makes it easier.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Dilemma.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Backstreet Boys’ A.J. McLean Back In Rehab

Singer tweeted about getting sober days ago. By Jocelyn Vena A.J. McLean Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images Just as Backstreet Boys fever is back in full force as the guys gear up to hit the road with New Kids on the Block this summer comes news that BSB’s A.J. McLean has returned to rehab. “For personal reasons, I’ve checked myself into a rehab clinic,” McLean said in a statement to MTV News. “With 2011 being a busy year for Backstreet, I want to be healthy and at my best. Thank you for all of your support and respecting my family and friends’ privacy during this time. I’ll see you really soon.” TMZ reports that sources close to the pop star say he has been “out of control” as of late due to issues with substance abuse. Reportedly, he was under the influence during much of the Backstreet Boys cruise last month. He allegedly entered rehab, his third time in a decade, because his issues were affecting the planning stages of the NKOTBSB tour, set to begin this June. A rep for the singer had not responded to MTV News’ request for comment at press time. However the singer did leave some messages for his fans on Twitter that alluded to a possible upcoming stint in rehab. “Thank u all for my bday wishes and tweets:)! Its gonna be a great year! I love u all and wish me luck! I start my sober journey tomm! Ttfn!” he wrote January 9. One day later, he added, “Hey all wish me luck! This is gonna be an amazing year for me and all around me! I love u all and appreciate all the love and support” McLean previously entered rehab in July 2001, just as the Backstreet Boys planned to kick off their Black & Blue world tour. He also went to rehab the following year in 2002. “[A.J.] came to us yesterday and said, ‘Guys, I need help,’ ” group member Brian Littrell told MTV News in 2001. “I looked at him in the eyes and said, ‘I’m proud of you.’ That’s the first time he said it to any of us: ‘Guys, I have a problem, and I wanna better myself and better the group and better our situation.’ ” Related Artists Backstreet Boys
