Okay, so maybe Luke Pell isn’t taking the whole Bachelor casting snub thing very well after all… On Tuesday night, ABC stunned viewers by passing over Pell (the presumed favorite) in favor of Nick Viall as the next Bachelor . Starting this spring with new episodes of the reality series, Viall will be given his fourth shot to find contrived love, following a pair of runner-up finishes on The Bachelorette and his current gig on Bachelor in Paradise. The selection came as a shock to those who watch The Bachelor online and who follow this franchise closely. At first, however, Pell seemed to take the rejection in stride. Just consider the following meme and message: “Thanks for all the love and support over the past few months, sometimes in life we are faced with unexpected changes,” Pell wrote on Instagram. A tad bit extreme, considering this “unexpected challenge” and this reference to God having a plan in centered on anchoring The Bachelor? Some might say. But it at least proven that Pell was handling the surprising selection very well. Now, however, Pell has come out and told Us Weekly that he was closer than folks could have possibly imagined to being named The Bachelor. And then it was taken away from him. “We were all satisfied, had agreed to the contracts and everything was moving forward,” Pell explains to Us Weekly . “I was checked in to my flight to come to L.A. I got a call from producers Sunday night at about 10 p.m. They said ABC had decided to quote-unquote go in a different direction. “I was supposed to fly out Monday morning at 9 a.m. I had my bags packed and everything.” And the Winner is? ABC executives have admitted that Viall was chosen at the last minute, but we didn’t realize it really was at the very last minute. According to Pell, far more than just an airline ticket had been purchased. “We had planned for intro filming and had planned to have my sister come on for a date and give advice as part of the show,” he says of how far into negotiations he got with the network. “I met with the wardrobe guys. Everything was moving forward. Everyone on the production level was expecting it to be me, as well.” Is Pell bitter over the way things went? Yes, clearly. Sort of at least. But he’s an alum of West Point. He’s come to “accept the decision,” he says, pointing to his military background in his response. “From all my years in the military, I’ve learned that some things are out of my control,” he told Us Weekly, adding: “I put it in the past, and I’m moving forward. It was a huge surprise, but the element of surprise and unexpected decisions is what the show thrives off of.” That’s very true. And puts it in perspective. Compared to some of the things he’s seen, done and prepared for in service to our country, this setback is pretty minor. Plus, he’s got his whole life ahead of him, reality TV or not. Would he do The Bachelor some time down the line if asked? Probably not at this point. For now, Pell is home in Nashville, Tenn., and says he’s focused on being “an entrepreneur and a songwriter.” He’s also still focused on finding a wife. On VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood Season 3 Episode 2 Monday night, Ray J’s love life continued to be the subject of much fascination. Watch Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood Season 3 Episode 2 Online If you watch Love & Hip Hop Hollywood online , you’ll get to learn all about Masika Kalysha, who of course got knocked up by Fetty Wap. Despite Wapping that without protection, he’s pissed about the pregnancy and claims he’s not the father. She demands a paternity test. Beyond that, on Love & Hip Hop Hollywood Season 3 Episode 2, Masika was paid a visit by her ever-so-nice friends Moniece and Nia. A dramatic visit, to put it mildly. Masika asks Moniece about why she put Princess Love on blast; Moniece says beefed with Princess at Mendeecees and Yandy’s wedding. Princess didn’t like it that Moniece was calling Ray J “Raymond,” to which Moniece said: “Bitch, I f–ked your man and yeah, I liked it!” As always, classy. For her part, Princess has mixed it up with Teairra Mari in the past, and now she’s ready to throw down Moniece, it appears. Hard core. After Moniece told the world that she hit it with Ray J first , Princess says Ray J told her that they boned once at a party when she was 19. “Yes, Moniece. You got fucked by Ray J. Who the fuck cares? You want a fucking cookie? The bitch is not relevant,” Princess states. “Ray doesn’t even remember when it happened. Or maybe he’s just trying to make himself forget. Meanwhile, Brandy Norwood – Ray J’s sister – tries to play mature mediator between Princess, Ray, and their mother Sonja Norwood. With Ray J and Princess Love married now, we know they eventually made it to the altar, but here we get a behind the scenes preview. Ray chats with Max, Lil’ Brandi’s husband, about how they eloped and they didn’t sign a prenup because it’s a sign of a lack of trust. Or that he didn’t have jack s–t to protect. Ray J, for his part, has enough hits – both Kim Kardashian related and otherwise – that he does have some decent ASSets to consider. Still, he busts out the papers and decides to tear them up, to the horror of his mother, and the delight of VH1 execs thirsty for drama. Seriously. They live for this sort of thing. Finally, we have one huge confrontation between Shanda, Willie and Kyesha, as Shanda confronts Willie in the studio … and DAMN. Willie confesses to texting Kyesha but denies that he railed her; Kyesha says it was way more than just texts and they boned last December. You know. Standard love triangle disagreement. After they rehash the drama … they decide to get together again and do so in a West Hollywood establishment where all hell breaks loose. Kyesha admits that she’s still in love with Willie, and Shanda, despite wanting this meeting to hear the truth, loses her s–t when she hears it. You would think her rage would be directed at Willie Taylor, her husband, for his “we just texted for 10 years” BS … but no. Only Kyesha. The bottom line here after all this? A former student who impregnated a high school teacher was awarded $6 million in a settlement, officials in Redlands, Calif., confirmed. Vince Finaldi, an attorney for the former student, said the egregious conduct of the Redlands Unified School District warranted the payment. “The size of this settlement represents the gravity of the damage done to this young victim and his family,” he said in a statement. “It also highlights the extreme malfeasance and neglect by school officials who turned a blind eye to the criminal conduct of a teacher.” Administrators, he reiterated, “failed to protect a student.” Laura Whitehurst , 29, was arrested in July 2013 and charged with 41 felony counts of unlawful sex acts. Yes. Forty-one felony charges. That could have meant up to 29 years in prison. Ultimately, she pleaded guilty to four counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and two counts of oral copulation with a person under 18. Her sexual dalliances involved three boys at Citrus Valley and Redlands high schools during her tenure as a teacher in both locations. As part of a plea bargain in which she admitted having the student’s baby , she was sentenced to a year in jail and released after six months. On probation, she is a registered sex offender. Laura Whitehurst shares custody of the love child with the former high school student, who is now 21, according to the victim’s attorneys. In the lawsuit, attorneys for the student alleged that school officials knew of his romance with Whitehurst and failed to warn his family. Teacher Pleads Guilty To Having Sex With Students The lawsuit also claimed that a colleague of Whitehurst’s was aware of the relationship and that school officials questioned her about it. Despite the huge payment, district officials said they were admitting no wrongdoing by settling the lawsuit, blaming Whitehurst alone. Spokesman Tom DeLapp said the district is “not pleased with this” but settled “this tragic case once and for all so we can move forward.” “We felt there could be serious damage to the reputation of a very fine school district” if the legal case were to be drawn out, he added. Throwing a bit of shade, he said they ended this before “the plaintiff’s lawyers were allowed to drag the [school] through the mud all over again.” “In the long run, $6 million is high, but it could have been much higher if this had been left to an empathetic jury in another city.” DeLapp feared a jury “looking past the facts” to find a “financial scapegoat for the unprofessional, criminal actions of one individual.” He cited the explosion of media attention, noting “there was a picture of her in the birthing suite circulated to people at the school with the boy.” View Slideshow: 24 Teachers 2 Hot 4 Students The former student who fathered Laura Whitehurst’s baby said the relationship started in 2012 when he was 16 and lasted for a year. He told authorities Whitehurst began driving him home from school functions and spending long hours with him away from the school. On a trip to Disneyland, she grabbed his hand and told him she wanted to kiss him, and shortly after the trip, things escalated. Hard. She and the boy began having repeated sexual intercourse at her apartment, he said, and Whitehurst gave birth to their child in June 2013. The boy was in attendance for the birth. He said later that Whitehurst gave him alcohol and told him it was a “miracle pregnancy” as she did not believe she could get pregnant. Soulja Boy has uploaded a rather disturbing video to the Internet. In the following 10-second clip, the rapper seemingly calls out ex-girlfriend Nia Riley and her new boyfriend, threatening their lives while brandishing a gun. We're not making this up. Says the rapper in this footage: “Hey dude, f-ck you and f-ck Nia Riley. Stop playing with me for some shooters be outside your house. “Kill you bitch and n-gger, stop playing with me.” Sources seem to think Soulja Boy is directing this message at some dude named Skrill Dilly, who got into an exchange this week on Twitter with Riley. Dilly pleaded innocent on his social media account, asking: “Who is @NiaRiley. Never met her b4 but she’s gorgeous. I haven’t spoken to any media.” But Riley then fired back, not admitting to any kind of romance with Skrill Dilly, but Tweeting: “You BEEN following me! Don’t be lame.” Soulja Boy and Nia Riley's relationship was featured prominently on Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood in 2014. According to the Jasmine Brand, Soulja Boy and Nia have been going back and forth on social media ever since she posted a meme saying that she was “halfway into another relationship. With Skrill Dilly? He dared to address Soulja Boy recently on Twitter, writing: “@souljaboy gon quit playin with my f-cking people @NiaRiley. He know wtf is real out here.” Soulja Boy responded to the post telling Skrill Dilly that he would “kill” him. The tweets were eventually deleted, but this video is now making the rounds on the Web.
