Lady Gaga Says She’d ‘Rather Die Onstage’ Than On Vacation

‘I’ll sleep when I’m dead, OK?’ Gaga tells audience in Sweden. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga (file) Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ FilmMagic With her Monster Ball Tour now continuing well into 2011 , Lady Gaga is certainly showing no signs of stopping anytime soon. In addition to playing on the road touring, Gaga has also been recording her next album and filming the music video for her song “Alejandro.” So, when she hit the stage in Sweden over the weekend, the pop singer addressed the rumors that she’s wearing herself a bit too thin these days. While singing her song “Speechless,” Gaga was anything but speechless when it came to the rumors that she’s overworked, admitting that she does work long and hard but that it’s all worth it to her. “You know when people say, ‘Lady Gaga’s really tired; she needs to take a break,’ I just think about all those times I sang in bars when nobody was singing my lyrics,” she can be seen telling her “little monsters” in a video posted online . “I’ll sleep when I’m dead, OK?” Standing on her piano bench hunched over her piano while singing the song, she later screamed out: “I’m never giving on up!” Singing the last few lines of the song, she once again addressed the crowd, noting that it’s not hard work that she fears will spell her end. “I know that I work really hard and run myself into the ground, and I also know that alcohol will kill me one day, but I would rather not die on vacation. I’d rather die onstage with all my fans,” she said, then belted the last few words of the song with fire coming out of her piano before lying down on her the bench dramatically. Recently, both Ryan Tedder and Janet Jackson have noted that while Gaga has certainly made a name for herself as an incredible performer and pop artist, they also have said that she might need to slow down a little bit before she burns herself out. Do you think Lady Gaga is working too hard, or is she just doing what she loves? Talk about it in the comments. Miley Cyrus Shares ‘Credit’ For ‘Can’t Be Tamed’ Video

‘Amazing’ director and choreographer helped come up with concept, Cyrus tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by James Lacsina Photo: MTV News Miley Cyrus might have taken some major strides toward her post-Disney career with the sexed-up video for “Can’t Be Tamed,” but the singer didn’t do it alone. When it came time to create a concept for the slick clip — for the title song from her upcoming June album — her director and choreographer helped the star get creative. “I worked with Robert Hales, who is an amazing director,” she raved to MTV News about Hales, who has also worked with Demi Lovato, the Jonas Brothers and Justin Timberlake. “And again, I didn’t look at any of his work he’s done previously. I don’t even know really what he’s done previously.” Instead, the two focused on what they could do now that Cyrus is beginning to plot out life after “Hannah Montana.” “I just know that when we talked and what I said, he got excited and envisioned it the way I did,” Cyrus said. “And that’s what I wanted. I wanted someone that would get excited about it, and he was. So it was awesome. My choreographer, Jamal [Sims], also helped me come up with the concept. … I definitely am not going to take full credit.” The result of her collaboration is a clip that, according to Miley , can’t be compared to previous music videos. “I made a big point to everyone that I didn’t want anyone else to watch a music video and show me and say, ‘This is what I think we should do,’ ” she said. “I don’t think it looks like any other music video. I think if we would have looked at another music video or listened to another song or looked at a different artist, it could have easily [been influenced].” What do you think of Miley’s moves in the “Can’t Be Tamed” video? Crystal Bowersox’s Musical Mentors Saw ‘Idol’ Hopeful’s Promise Early

Toledo, Ohio, musicians Ron Rasberry and Bob May share memories of the ‘American Idol’ favorite. By Gil Kaufman Photo: Ray Mickshaw / FOX TOLEDO, Ohio — Ron Rasberry has been playing music his whole life and has seen plenty of good players come and go. But when the amiable, redheaded guitar strummer with the glint in his eye spotted a 13-year-old Crystal Bowersox more than 10 years ago, he knew he was seeing a rare talent. “I was hosting an open mic night, and she was there already … sitting at the table with her ma, and I asked the bartender, the owner, ‘Who’s that?’ ” recalled Rasberry last week of the season-nine “American Idol” front-runner. He learned soon enough who she was when Bowersox got up and sang Jewel’s “You Were Meant for Me.” “Of course, she got up there and played and then sang and … she was amazing,” he said. “She was a showstopper then.” Bowersox followed up that performance with an original, one of several she’d already written at that tender age. Thus began a musical friendship that endures until this day. Rasberry — who has been playing local bars for most of his adult life — has seen his young prot

The video for “Can#39;t Be Tamed” is below, with some screengrabs below that. Miley Cyrus, 17, plays a caged bird. She has said “The video isn#39;t about being s-exy or about who can wear less clothes. It#39;s about explaining the song and living the lyrics.” Singer/actress Miley Cyrus‘ new music video for her single Can’t Be Tamed may throw the teen’s s-exy new look in your face but she swears it’s about more than that. “I wanted it to be something different for a female artist,” the teen

Eminem Says Recovery Will Not Have Skits

MC also tells Shade 45 about Recovery LP, collaborators. By Shaheem Reid Eminem Photo: Nigel Parry Eminem has said that when he opened up his planned album Relapse 2 to a variety of producers, he was inspired to not just change the direction of the LP, but rethink the project completely: He buried the Relapse sequel and started working on Recovery , which will be out on June 22. “I kinda went back to the lab on that whole concept,” Em told radio personality Angela Yee on her Shade 45 show “The Morning After,” on Thursday (April 29). “As I started getting to work with different producers and sh–, the very sound changed and I kinda turned the corner.” Em rattled off an impressive array of trackmasters that he secured for Recovery, including Dr. Dre, DJ Khalil, Boi-1da — who produced the album’s first single, “Not Afraid,” which debuted Thursday — and Havoc from Mobb Deep. “He sent me a couple of tracks,” Em, a huge Mobb Deep fan, said of Havoc. “They were both cool, but one of them was that sh– and I had to do something to it. I’m just happy I got to work with him.” Jim Jonsin (T.I., Lil Wayne) also worked on the LP. “He was open to ideas,” Jonsin told Mixtape Daily . “He was real respectful to my craft. He let me do what I do. He asked me ideas on some of the lyrics. We had ideas for lyric changes. Certain words may or may not work on radio. We talked about that. He had a setup outside of the room to do production, but I’d rather be in the room where he was at, and he was cool with that. And I knocked out a couple of joints in there while he was in there with me. He was pretty open and he let me do my thing. He did his thing. It was a pretty good experience. “We touched on something that I haven’t done anything like that before,” Jonsin added. “It’s unique in a way for myself. It’s a place I’ve been wanting to go, and I’m so happy he allowed it to go down. He played a huge part in the record. Without him on it, it’s not the same. I don’t wanna give up too much about what it is and what direction.” Slim Shady told Yee that Recovery is diverse and doesn’t have a uniform sound. “There’s a variety of different things, different moods and things like that on there,” he said of the LP. “There’s not just one overall sound. It’s a bunch of different sh–.” Another surprise Em dropped about the album: for the first time, he will not have any skits. The often-hilarious segments had become a hallmark of a Slim Shady’s albums. What do you think Eminem’s Recovery LP will be like? Let us know in the comments below! Related Artists Eminem

Regina Spektor Tells Musical Stories At Sold-Out Sydney Opera House

‘It’s so amazing not to play by yourself,’ she told her devoted Australian fans. By Matt Elias Regina Spektor (file) Photo: Jeff Gentner/Getty Images SYDNEY, Australia — The warm night in Sydney was the perfect backdrop for the sun-drenched tunes from Regina Spektor’s most recent effort, Far. The cathedral-like Sydney Opera House only added to the ambience. The Brooklyn songstress took the stage Wednesday night (April 28), greeting the mostly female sold-out crowd, which rejoiced at the first notes of “Calculation” (the opening track on Far ). Although the singer/songwriter was far from home, the audience proved to be more than familiar with her material. Fans shouted requests and “I love yous” between songs but were silent whenever Spektor, on piano, marched through a track. The set continued with more selections from her 2009 album, including “Eet” and a peppier version of “Folding Chair.” By the third song, the crowd had grown giddy, waiting for Spektor to address them directly. During a quiet moment, spontaneous giggling erupted and seemed to spread. Regina responded: “I feel like I have some lipstick on my nose.” The singer reached back into her catalog for “Ode to Divorce,” an oldie that highlighted the concert hall’s brilliant acoustics. Spektor’s voice sounded so close, it was as if you were sitting beside her on the piano bench. She followed that up with the frantic “Machine” and “Laughing With,” which drew extra cheers. The remainder of the evening was peppered with crowd favorites and a back-and-forth with the audience. After the crowd clapped along to “Better,” a fan begged, “Tell us a story, Regina!” That drew a clever response from Spektor: “I am. I’m telling stories all night long!” While she spent most of the night at the keys, Regina finally got up for “Dance Anthem of the 80s” (also from Far ), strapping on a guitar as she recalled “The Simpsons” episode where Homer goes to rock-and-roll summer camp. As the nearly two-hour show drew to a close, Regina told the crowd, “It’s so amazing to play here, and it’s so amazing not to play by yourself,” referring to the devoted fans who came to see her. In case anyone wasn’t sufficiently impressed, Spektor returned for a five-song encore. Fans showed they had her back, filling in when Regina forgot a few of the lyrics to “Samson.” That exchange brought to mind the words from “Eet,” sung earlier in the evening: “It’s like forgetting the words to your favorite song/ You can’t believe it, you were always singing along.” What do you think of Regina’s most recent album, Far ? T.I. Premieres ‘I’m Back,’ First Video Since Prison Release

Clip, from forthcoming album King Uncaged, finds Tip getting reacquainted with his hometown. By Jayson Rodriguez T.I. in his video for “I’m Back” Photo: Atlantic Everybody loves a comeback, and T.I. is in full force with his return. On Monday night, the Atlanta rapper premiered the video for “I’m Back,” the first track he’s released since he ended his federal prison sentence earlier this year. The clip debuted on T.I.’s website , and features him returning to his roots. Tip, sitting shotgun in a black SUV, is driven to a group of buildings. The truck slowly pulls up to a warehouse in the complex and Tip exits the vehicle as the door to the building opens. T.I. quickly enters and lights a match to brighten up the dark space. Clad in a hoodie, T-shirt and little jewelry, Tip walks up to a covered car parked inside. When T.I. pulls back the cover, the camera finds his car, a Ferrari, waiting for him. The rapper shuffles over to the trunk of the import and inside spots a leather bag, from which he retrieves wads of cash and an expensive watch and necklace set. And his shades. From there, Tip takes a spin in his car and gets reacquainted with his hometown. But like the lyrics in the song, T.I. isn’t revisiting his past mistakes, he’s moving on. “Probably just seen Wayne, Gucci Mane, me and Boosie all go to prison, now he flippin’ his whole image,” Tip raps. “Really trippin’, listen dude, for you that’s not in your cards/ Think the power’s in the gun, but overall it’s in your heart.” “I’m Back,” the first offering from T.I.’s forthcoming King Uncaged LP, premiered last month. The rapper, who hasn’t spoken much since he was released from prison late last month has been hard at work on his album, which is scheduled to arrive in stores and online August 17. In an interview that was posted on his site recently, the rapper spoke about the project and promised fans a more aggressive tone on King Uncaged . “I want to maintain the level of success I’ve been fortunate enough to do, over and over again, over the years,” Tip said. “This album is different in many ways. I think that Paper Trail was a lot more about thoughts; this is more about feelings. This is significantly more aggressive, or at least at this period in production. Who knows? I can do 10 love songs tomorrow and change the direction. At this point, right now, it’s going hard. It’s going hard like classic T.I.” What do you think of T.I.’s new video?
