It was the awards moment of the year, perhaps even the decade: Kanye West crashed Taylor Swift’s heartfelt acceptance speech at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards and told the world that Beyonce deserved the trophy for Best Female Video. Some readers are actually referring to the act as racist, but we’ll just stick with obscene and disrespectful. This year, the house band will be Wale and his band UCB (which stands for the Uncalled 4 Band), and the Washington, D.C.-reared MC had great things to say about DJ AM, and the legacy he hopes to live up to at the awards, which take place at New York’s Radio City Music Hall on September 13.

Heidi Montag "Performs" at Miss Universe 2009

In sequined pants and matching bra, Heidi Montag’s rendition of “Body Language,” her first career live effort, was underwhelming even by her low standards. NBC, which was broadcasting the Miss Universe 2009 pageant live, apparently had similar thoughts and blocked out more than half of her song at the event. Heidi sang (term used loosely) as the 15 finalists were introduced.
