Madonna When Madonna was married to Sean Penn in the 80s, he allegedly struck her with a baseball bat, tied her up and beat her. However, in 2015 the material girl dismissed the claims as false. She understands your criticism and she didn’t mean to offend you and she knows she did not do the late musician proud and… … JUST KIDDING! Does that sound remotely like Madonna to you? Just hours after The Material Girl sang a version of “Nothing Compares 2 U” and then joined Steve Wonder for a duet of “Purple Rain,” BET called out Madonna for what that network deemed to be a terrible performance. Hyping its own Prince tribute at the BET Awards on June 16, this is what the network Tweeted: See the message on the bottom? Pretty harsh, huh? Even before Madonna took to the Billboard Music Awards stage, a change.org petition compiled over 8,000 signatures, urging almost any big name aside from this legendary artist to honor Prince, who died on April 21 at the age of 57. This, despite the fact that Madonna collaborated with Prince back in 1989 and even once dated the superstar. Madonna and Stevie Wonder Honor Prince at Billboard Music Awards What does Madonna have to say to these critics? “Deal with it,” she wrote last night on Instagram alongside a photo of her decked in an all-purple getup. Several hours later, she returned to elaborate via a second post: “Anyone who wants to do a tribute to Prince is welcome to. Whatever your age Gender or skin Color. If you loved him and he inspired you then show it!!!! I love Prince 4 ever.” Sounds pretty reasonable, doesn’t it? With so many awards shows on the docket, we can expect an endless number of Prince-themed performances over the next few months. Instead of criticizing the ones you don’t like, let’s all use them as an opportunity to remember the reason why they exist in the first place: Prince is dead. Prince is an icon. Madonna Prince Billboard Petition Welp! Some Prince fans are demanding that Madonna share her Prince tribute at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards. They’ve started a petition on Change.org that reads, “We cannot let Madonna be the main and only artist tributing Prince during the 2016 Billboard Awards. He is more than worthy of a better choice as a main performer. Please sign and share this petition so that we can get a proper tribute on May 22, 2016. Timing is tight! Spread the word.” One petition supporter suggests Lenny Kravitz, Mint Condition, Sheila E. or Chaka Khan be part of the planned tribute. Madonna worked with Prince for her 1989 album Like A Prayer, performing the duet “Love Song.” Prince also played rhythm on the title track. Do you think Billboard should’ve went in another direction?

Madonna Set To Honor Prince At Billboard Music Awards Prince’s death is still sending shockwaves through the music industry, and tributes are no doubt sure to follow for the rest of the year as artists inspired by him (read: just about everyone who came along after 1979) seek to honor their fallen idol . Now, one of the larger gatherings of industry heavy hitters, The Billboard Awards, have announced who they’ve tapped to pay tribute to The Purple One , and their choice may shock you just a bit. Via Billboard : The Queen of Pop will pay homage to another member of music royalty, Prince, at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards. Organizers today announced Madonna’s participation in what promises to be one of the highlights of this year’s BBMAs. The legendary pop singer will pay tribute to her good friend and fellow artist, who unexpectedly passed away April 21 at the age of 57. Details on her tribute to the late music great remain a closely-guarded secret. This year’s ceremony will air live at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Sunday, May 22 from TMobile Arena in Las Vegas. It’ll be hosted by BBMA vet Ludacris and first-time host Ciara and produced by dick clark productions. Hey, Madonna knew Prince well in real life, and we’re sure respected and admired him just as much as the rest of his industry peers.
