Locksmith Gets Super-Lyrical On New Mixtape

‘I got my notoriety from going into that hip-hop underground battle world,’ MC tells Mixtape Daily. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Ade Mangum Locksmith Photo: IMGMI Firestarter: Locksmith Not much is known about Locksmith , but one thing is for sure: The Richmond, California, MC can spit with the best of them. On Wednesday’s “RapFix Live,” Locksmith closed the show with a tongue-twisting, lyrically packed freestyle verse, but for those who have been following the Bay Area lyricist this is nothing new. “I really got my start … I got my notoriety from going into that hip-hop underground battle world,” Locksmith told Mixtape Daily . In September, the verbal wizard dropped his I Am Lock mixtape as a free Internet download. The 10-track project features production from Ski Beatz and West Coast luminary E-A-Ski . From the tape’s opener, “That Bullsh–,” Lock makes it clear that he is about his business. “It’s more like a raw freestyle song so it’s more accustom for people that are familiar with me,” he said. “They know he can go in. Then, it’s a shock to the people that don’t know me, like, ‘Yo this guy can really spit.’ ” “I ain’t no drug dealer, I ain’t no n—a star/ I ain’t no bitch n—a, I ain’t no prison guard/ I ain’t no f—in’ cop, I represent the Rich/ My little cousin got murdered n—a f— a bitch,” he spits. The wordplay continues throughout. Later in the track, Smith goes even deeper when he lets loose with lines like, “Lyrically I’m on another level, try to bruise me/ I make Lil Wayne sound like Lil Boosie/ I make Andre sound like Kanye/ If a n—a don’t believe a mother—er, step to me.” For Locksmith, however, all of this is simply a warm-up for his debut album, Embedded, which is due out November 15. Casey Anthony to Sit Down With NBC?

NBC is reportedly working hard to land an interview with Casey Anthony, and thinks it may have found a way to do so without paying her a dime, either. Technically. An NBC news producer is reaching out to people in the literary world, according to reports , trying to score a book deal for Anthony. What’s the catch? The producer has told literary agents and others that if he scored a book deal for Casey, she’d give the network a one-hour, exclusive primetime special. While there is believed to be a bidding war for the first interview with Casey, news networks can’t or won’t pay her … so they look for crafty workarounds. Portions of that interview would also run on Today , probably resulting in mega-ratings for the Peacock. All the while, someone else would pay Casey. The producer makes it clear NBC couldn’t pay a cent for the interview, but is pushing hard for a book deal, even saying Casey wants up front money. Jose Baez, Casey’s lawyer, says he ahs knowledge of the producer’s efforts, but says, “I’m not involved in that process. I did not entice him to do it.” Baez also adds, “Casey is not ready to do an interview.” Anthony, who remains in hiding, is also being courted by Barbara Walters , we’re told. Casey Anthony :

Our Idiot Interviews: Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks

A pair of THG favorites are about to hit the big screen together, as Paul Rudd and Elizabeth Banks anchor the cast of Our Idiot Brother , which comes out on Friday. The title pretty much makes it clear, but the film centers around Rudd’s Ned, the runt of a beautiful litter that includes sisters played by Banks, Emily Mortimer and Zooey Deschanel. The former told Movie Fanatic that she can relate to the concept: “I am the oldest, bossiest daughter of a family of four… I have a 26-year-old brother who sells pizza and maybe something else while delivering those pizzas.” Our Idiot Brother Trailer Rudd, meanwhile, said he could relate to one aspect of the film in particular: playing charades. “Despite all of the battling and fighting, we come together,” the actor said. “It was such an emotionally charged moment and scene. It was kind of heartbreaking, because at different points we all sometimes – as hard as you can be – you just want to play charades with your family, but you’re unable to.” For more from Rudd, read his full interview now.

9/11 Conspiracy Theorists: Angry at Charlie Sheen

He’s angered CBS employees, sitcom fans and women’s rights group. But Charlie Sheen is now facing the wrath of an unexpected enemy: The 9/11 Truth Movement. A representative of that group – which alleges the World Trade Center attacks were initiated by the The United States – says he and his fellow conspiracy theorists are peeved that the actor is using his tour to prattle on about drug use, Denise Richards and other items that aren’t related to Sheen’s former claims about the buildings’ collapse appearing to be a “controlled demolition.” Mark Dice says Sheen should be “asking hard questions about what happened on 9/11 and the resulting wars… not bragging about smoking crack and sleeping with hookers.” Dice has failed in his attempts to contact the star and adds that he and his group will protest Sheen’s upcoming shows if the topic is not addressed. So congratulations Mark Dice and The 9/11 Truth Movement. You’ve managed to make Charlie Sheen look sane.

Kendra Wilkinson Feeling Belittled, Embarrassed on Dancing With the Stars

According to Kendra Wilkinson, elegance is what you make of it. As such, she doesn’t appreciate Carrie Ann Inaba’s critiques. “We have our own definition,” Wilkinson said in response to the Dancing With the Stars judge’s remark that she has been “afraid of elegance” on the show. K-Dubs said she felt “like giving up” last week but that “elegance is what [my husband] Hank sees, not what Carrie Ann sees. That’s what I care about.” “Another woman telling me about elegance eats away at my ego,” she said . “I’m a huge Carrie Ann fan, and she’s [usually] so sweet, but that comment …” “I just felt belittled at that moment and embarrassed.” Kendra Wilkinson makes it clear that she does take her time on the show seriously, but at the same time, not too seriously. She is there to have fun. “This is great, and a time of my life I will look back on, but it’s not my life,” she said. “My life is my family memories. That means the world to me.” “Why am I listening to people I don’t care about? I’m out here to be Kendra and dance and shake my butt – not to be a professional dancer.” Who will win Season 12 of Dancing With the Stars?

Teresa Scanlan Hopes to Be President

Uh-oh, Sarah Palin . You might have competition on your hands. Having just been crowned Miss America, Teresa Scanlan is not content with posing in her bathing suit and strutting across a stage for a living. This 17-year old from Nebraska has much loftier goals. Scanlan told The Las Vegas Sun she wants to one day be a Supreme Court Justice. After that? “I certainly hope” to become president someday, she said. Teresa Scanlan Wins! Can she get there? On her blog, Teresa makes it clear that she has the support of at least one important player: “When I found pageantry, I realized that God had prepared me for this competition by creating me to love diversity, and here was the place I could use the talents He had given me.” Will those talents take her to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave? Possibly, if citizens eventually cast their votes based on one’s bikini body.
