Lady Gaga Emerges From Egg To Perform ‘Born This Way’ At The Grammys

Surprisingly sparse performance lets brand-new single shine on Grammy stage. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga performs during the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards Photo: CBS After arriving on the red carpet in an egg , incubating for her big performance, Lady Gaga hit the Grammy stage. She emerged from the egg in a high ponytail, gold bra top and long skirt, her makeup all black and gold. Her dancers wore similar yolk-colored tunics. Check out pictures of Lady Gaga’s Grammy arrival here. The performance was surprisingly sparse for the typically over-the-top performer , allowing her brand-new single, “Born This Way,” to shine. Midway through the song, an organ emerged from the stage floor and Gaga put a surprisingly dark, horror-movie-like spin on the notes of the song and then belted out the rest of the bridge as her dancers surrounded her. The disco vibe of the tune kicked back in as her dancers ripped off their tunics and danced around her. Before leaving the stage, Gaga put on her trench and hat as the song faded out. Gaga and her dancers ended the performance with their paws up as an homage to all her Little Monsters watching from home. It was Gaga’s premiere live performance of “Born This Way” after debuting the track Friday. It serves as the lead single from her May album release of the same name. The song was written and co-produced by Gaga; Fernando Garibay and DJ White Shadow also got co-production credits on the track. “I wrote [‘Born This Way’] in 10 f—ing minutes,” she explains in the upcoming issue of Vogue. “And it is a completely magical message song. And after I wrote it, the gates just opened, and the songs kept coming. It was like an immaculate conception.” What did you think of Gaga’s performance? Let us know in the comments! ‘Glee’ Recap: Quinn Quits The ‘Cheerios,’ Makes Out With Finn

Plus, the New Directions and the football players team up to for ‘Thriller’ and ‘Heads Will Roll’ in post-Super Bowl episode. By Mawuse Ziegbe The glee club performs in a special episode of “Glee” airing after Super Bowl XLV Photo: FOX This week on “Glee,” we learned that when Sue Sylvester gets bored, she chases some crazy-pants thrill that inevitably sets off a chain of events that threaten to rip apart the social fabric of McKinley and possibly kill some people along the way, which is, really, just standard-issue drama for the Gleeks. The episode kicked off with the Cheerios’ firepower-heavy rendition of Katy Perry’s “California Gurls,” a spectacle of skimpy costumes, BMX tricks and sparks-shooting bras that still left Coach Sue cold. So that meant bringing in the big guns — literally. As a solution to her pom-pom ennui, Sylvester scored a cheerleader-flinging cannon from as a means to take the squad’s stunts to new heights. When Principal Figgins objected, she started trashing his office and equipment room before making another bold announcement: she’s moving the cheerleader competition to the same night as the football championship. So where did that leave the team? Stuck rocking their own halftime show, a situation which was further complicated by the fact that Mr. Schuester and Coach Shannon insisted all the anti-glee club football players join New Directions for a week to quell the feuding within the team. Using the example of the Filipino prisoners who stopped getting into trouble during the four months they practiced for jailhouse rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” Schuester decided they should take on the game-changing smash, modernizing it by mashing it up with the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s acid jam “Heads Will Roll.” But even after Rachel and Puck’s soulful rendition of Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now,” the ballers and belters still erupted into a fight, nearly ripping each other’s heads off. Forced to get their sing on, the footballers turned up to practice, where Schuester told lead bully Karofsky that he’s get a decent voice — a compliment that appeared to empower him enough to ask Finn to team up for a warm-up number. Pairing their faux undead maquillage with letterman jackets, the team eased into the glee thing by busting out a rendition of The Zombies “She’s Not There.” But just as they strolled out into the hallway, still buzzing from the high of owning the stage, they got doused with slushees by the wannabe cool kids on the hockey team. Washing the makeup and the sugary ice from their eyes, Karofsky and his crew decided to ditch both New Directions and the football team, which put the future of the team in jeopardy. And due to Sylvester’s nonstop meddling campaign Santana, Brittany and Quinn were forced to quit glee club or commit “social suicide” by ditching giving up their high-school supremacy as cheerleaders. (Actually, Sylvester got Brittany to stay on the team and get thrown from the cannon by convincing her it had baby cannons that would die if their mother remained out of work.) Elsewhere, the New Directions rivals at Dalton Academy were getting along swimmingly, as Blaine helmed an acappella version of Destiny’s Child’s “Bills, Bills, Bills,” rocking out the sassy DC3 jam in a plush practice room with his other blazer-sporting glee-club members. He also proved helpful when Rachel, Mercedes and Kurt sat down for coffee and he told the ladies that the football team — which was down to five after the Karofsky contingent bounced — only needed four more players in order to compete at the championship. Come game day Rachel, Mercedes, Tina and Lauren marched down the field ready to take on the competitors. Not surprisingly, the novice football players were quickly trounced, but not before Tina scooped up the ball and bolted toward the end zone in a moment of courage. When she was sacked, the whole field gasped and Mike rushed over to, you know, make sure she’s not dead. Everyone’s spirits were lifted when she rolled over and asked, “Did we win?” After Tina’s tackle, Finn convinced Brittany, Quinn and Santana to ditch the Cheerios and head to the game for the big “Thriller” number, while Puck wrangled up the departed football players. The New Directions crew turned out the long-awaited “Thriller” revamp, with the guys stiffly marching across the field in tattered, filthy uniforms and the ladies working disheveled bag lady looks topped with unkempt locks. The glee-clubbers moaned, writhed and staggered along, throwing the crowd into a frenzy as they belted the chorus to “Heads Will Roll” before segueing into the Jackson’s lyrics. Even after stubbornly hating on the Gleeks all episode long and fearing the loss of his cool-kid status, Karofsky immediately jumped in as soon as he saw the crowd get live and they ended the mash-up as a team. Newly unified, the fellas hit the locker room to celebrate, and after seeing how the creepy zombie look empowered the guys, coach Shannon told them not to take off the makeup. So they kept up the undead act, moaning and freaking out the other team, until they eventually took back the field. With her ego badly bruised, Sylvester imagined a sit-down with Katie Couric, who tells her that she beat out the economy and Brett Favre’s cell phone to be named “Loser of the Year” for letting her seventh national cheerleading championship slip through her fingers. Sue didn’t take the news well, seething, “I hate you Diane Sawyer.” Even though they owned the gridiron and the big song-and-dance number, Karofsky ultimately made it clear to Finn that he’s not willing to risk the social consequences of staying in glee club. But Quinn, who actually hit the halls of McKinley without her red-and-white Cheerios garb, made it clear that she has no plans to revert back to her old ways as a status-obsessed cheerleader. She did, however, show there is one thing she wanted to salvage from her past, planting a kiss on Finn and telling him his bravery was why she loved him before strolling away. Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ Video Is ‘Profound,’ Makeup Artist Says

Billy Brasfield takes to his Twitter account to heap praise on Gaga’s upcoming clip. By James Montgomery Lady Gaga Photo: David Wolff-Patrick/ Getty Images We may not know what it looks like, but we know it’s coming soon, and, from the sound of things, it’s going to be quite the experience. We’re talking, of course, about Lady Gaga’s hotly anticipated “Born This Way” video , which she apparently shot this past weekend, and, according to her makeup artist Billy Brasfield, it’s the kind of thing that defies explanation. And adjectives. (Though that didn’t stop him from heaping ’em on.) In fact, the “BTW” video is apparently so awe-inducing that it brought Brasfield to tears. “Have you ever been a part of something that was so profound, so inspiring, so incredibly beautiful, that as it was happening, it brought tears to your eyes and you had been given a gift, and you were thankful?” he tweeted on Monday. “It happened to me [and] I am thankful. 1/22, 1/23, 1/24- 2011 LADY GAGA–#BORNTHISWAY.” Brasfield then followed that message up with another tweet Tuesday morning (January 25), in which he continued to pile praise on the “Born This Way” clip. “After days of sensory overload, of amazing song, ridiculously beautiful imagery, fashion, beautiful People, great friends, and a life changing experience, I am awake again after 24 hours of sleep,” he wrote. “Hello New York City and snow.” Of course, Brasfield isn’t the only member of Gaga’s team hyping the “Born This Way” video these days. On Monday, LG’s fashion director (and Thierry Mugler creative director) Nicola Formichetti took to his Twitter account to praise the shoot, writing, “Ok kids, get ready for [‘Born This Way’]. We’ve just created the most amazing thing ever.” Related Artists Lady Gaga

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season Finale Recap: Richards Family Meltdown!

So much happened on the season finale of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills , it’s taken us awhile to sift through the carnage. After this nuclear war, the extent of the fallout may not fully be known for years. Or the reunion special. How did THG’s critic respond to the events of last night, which included family feuds, cat fights and relationships unraveling one after the other? Find out now … Wow. I’ve seen a lot of Housewivery battles in my day, and nothing compared to last night’s limo ride to nowhere. We knew Kim and Kyle have family issues, but didn’t realize just how deep rooted those issues actually are. I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s start at the beginning. We open with last week’s final scene. Camille and a sprinkle of Grammer minions toasted Kelsey’s Tony nod, and the air was thick with “I don’t want to be here.” By the way, did anyone notice that the woman next to Camille bears a striking resemblance to The OC ‘s Julie Cooper-Nichol (Melinda Clarke)? It’s more of the same between Camille and Kelsey as they headed to midtown, and it was painful for everyone involved to watch Camille continue to kiss Kelsey’s ass, even though he wanted NO part of her. She said it herself during a heart-to-heart with one of her very few female friends: Kelsey did everything he could to avoid talking about and engaging in their failing marriage at the Tony Awards. Camille finally realized that she was reduced to begging the pr!ck to stay in their marriage. As nuts as she is, I felt for Camille in that moment. Crazy may have a “Jesus complex,” but she’s just as human as the rest of us (Thank God. The jury was out for a bit).

Justin Bieber Shoots His Return To ‘CSI’

Singer tweeted a photo of himself in makeup for February 17 episode. By Gil Kaufman Justin Bieber appears on “CSI” Photo: CBS If you were concerned that Justin Bieber snapped and got into a scrap with an overly aggressive photographer, relax, it’s just makeup. Images of Bieber with a pretty impressive shiner started zooming around the Internet on Tuesday, but the picture is just a still from the set of “CSI,” which the singer will revisit next month. Bieber, who first appeared on the show in September, tweeted the photo of his makeup-caked black eye on Tuesday along with the message “On set … where? Let’s just say I’m back to my evil ways. #badass.” According to Entertainment Weekly, after getting good notices his first time around, Bieber is set to reprise his role as troubled teen Jason McCann in an upcoming February 17 episode of the crime procedural titled “Targets of Obsession.” The show will air during February sweeps (go figure), six days after Justin’s movie debut in his 3-D biopic/concert film, “Never Say Never,” which opens in theaters on February 11. In his first “CSI” appearance, which was Bieber’s acting debut, he portrayed a young kid whose older brother had been killed at the end of the previous season. Cops suspected that Bieber’s character took out his anger over his brother’s death on authority by planting bombs. In his second go ’round, currently being filmed, show regular Nick (George Eads) tips Jason off that he might be in “imminent danger.” Last year, “CSI” executive producer Carol Mendelsohn told MTV News that the teen star would be returning to the show, explaining how the September episode left unanswered questions about his character. “At the end of the episode, we’re left with the question: Is Jason a good kid stuck in a bad situation or is Jason a bad kid hiding behind his cuteness?” Mendelsohn said. “You can see why Justin was such a perfect choice to play this role. … It’s an explosive story.” While fans will surely cheer his return to TV, they recently learned that Bieber will not be the subject of an episode of “Glee,” as was widely rumored. After stories began to swirl that Bieber Fever was slated to sweep McKinley High, Ryan Murphy, the co-creator of the Fox hit, cleared things up, explaining the role that the teen star’s music would play in an upcoming episode. Murphy maintained that unlike other superstars whose repertories have received “Glee” overhauls — like Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Madonna — Bieber’s current list of hits isn’t long enough to sustain an entire hour of New Directions-helmed numbers. “Those [tributes] are reserved for artists with big catalogs,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “Bieber comes up in episode 13 as a small plot point. Sam [Chord Overstreet] sings a JB song to win Quinn’s [Dianna Agron] approval.” Related Artists Justin Bieber

Christina Milian Dishes About Planting A Kiss On Justin Bieber

Starlet says Bieber’s fans on Twitter were cool about the smooch. By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Matt Elias Christina Milian and Justin Bieber on the set of “CSI” Photo: Twitpic When Justin Bieber flirted with superstar vixen Kim Kardashian last summer, his fans lobbed tons of e-hate her way. But luckily for Christina Milian, she got off easy when she tweeted a picture of her smooching the teen superstar on the cheek. MTV News recently caught up with the singer/actress, and she dished about meeting the “Baby” crooner — and giving the Biebs some sugar — while both were shooting separate episodes of the crime drama “CSI.” “When I walked in the trailer, I didn’t know Justin was gonna be there. And I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, you’re here!’ I guess he was waiting in the trailer, in the makeup trailer — not mine, but the makeup trailer — and I got to meet him for a second. I was like, ‘Hey, do you mind after I get my makeup and hair done, let’s take a picture after we’re done shooting?’ He was like, ‘Of course,’ ” she said. The “Dip It Low” songstress said she was upfront with Bieber about sharing her affection. “So I hunted him down after lunch because I was done working for the day, and I was like, ‘I was thinking of planting a kiss on you. Do you mind?’ I went with the cheek.” Milian quickly laughed off any idea that the two are canoodling full-time. “I did it for fun, anyway, and the whole hype and everybody always talking about this whole thing that happened at New Year’s with Justin,” Milian said of the major attention the teen star got when he was spotted vacationing with Selena Gomez . “So I was like, ‘How fun would it be if I actually just kissed him on the cheek?’ I had a little humor to go with it and tweeted it, like, immediately, and I got a billion responses.” However, unlike Kardashian, Bieber’s legions of fans didn’t rip the starlet apart. “So far, no death threats. Everybody was really nice. I made sure to say, ‘Hey, ladies, don’t be mad. Guys, don’t hate,’ ” she said. “But I think everybody knows I’m a lightweight. I like to have fun. It’s not serious; I’m not trying to take your man. And he’s, hello, 16 or something? So let’s keep it really real. But he is a cutie pie. But yeah, all the girls handled it pretty well. They were like, ‘Oh my gosh, how cute! You’re so lucky!’ And I was like, ‘Well, maybe it’ll be you too,’ and I even wrote back to a couple of them. They were really nice.” What do you think of Christina Milian kissing Justin Bieber? Let us know in the comments!
