Sad news out of Hollywood today, as legendary actor Albert Finney has passed away at the age of 82. Finney’s family confirmed reports of his passing in a statement to the Associated Press Friday morning. “The family request privacy at this sad time,” read a brief statement. Few details were provided about the cause of Finney’s death, but the family indicated that he passed following “a short illness.” Finney fought kidney cancer in 2011, but it is not known if that illness played a role in his death. Amassing more than 60 credits over the course of his five decades in Hollywood, Finney’s resumé reads like a diverse list of some of the most beloved films of the past 50 years. Whether your tastes run toward action films ( Skyfall , the Bourne franchise), musicals ( Annie, Scrooge ), acclaimed dramas ( Erin Brockovich, Under the Volcano ), or thought-provoking indie fare ( Big Fish, Miller’s Crossing, Before the Devil Knows Your Dead ), Finney not only dabbled in your genre of choice, he helped define it. After rising to fame with his titular role in Tom Jones in 1963, Finney quickly gained a reputation as an actor’s actor. His love of the craft led Finney to continue working on Broadway even after finding success in Hollywood. He eventually earned two Tony nominations to go along with his staggering 5 Oscar nods. Finney also gained widespread acclaim and numerous nominations for his work as Winston Churchill in the 2002 television movie The Gathering Storm . Finney’s thoughtful insights on acting are often quoted by both veteran instructors and up-and-comers in search of inspiration. “I don’t think that we necessarily lie. I mean, we make our living by pretending that we’re someone else. I don’t tell tall tales. I always tell the truth,” he once remarked. “To be a character who feels a deep emotion, one must go into the memory’s vault and mix in a sad memory from one’s own life.” The actor turned down an offer of knighthood in 2000, arguing that the UK’s honors system serves to “perpetuate snobbery.” Finney was married three times, including his tempestuous 8-year romance with actress Anouk Aimée He is survived by his son, Simon, and his widow, Pene Delmage. This explosive feud between Offset and Chris Brown started over a 21 Savage meme. Now, it’s personal, and Offset is calling out Chris for his appalling record of domestic violence. Chris is hitting back — to no one’s surprise — by calling Offset a coward and exposing his DMs for the world to see. “I ain’t really have too much rap for you on this social media s–t,” Offset wrote on Instagram. “But since that’s where you wanna take it,” the Migos rapper continued. “Tell the people why you had your management reach out to squash the s–t!” He’s exposing Chris for trying to have his management quietly quash their feud. “Check my record and check yours,” Offset accused. “Only people you go to toe to toe with is women that’s for lame nikkas ” Lame barely begins to describe the evil of domestic violence. “Oh and btw,” Offset concluded. “Ima smack the shit out you when I see you” Chris Brown published his DMs from Offset in retaliation, as captured by The Shade Room . Offset DMed Chris, using shorthand to ask “Where you at.” “I’m in LA,” Chris replied. “I’ll be home at 4 … like I said before.” “I’m wit all a dat,” Chris continued. “You can run me my fade today, no cap!” To run a fade means to fight at a scheduled time and place. Again using shorthand, Offset asks for Chris’ address. “You know where I stay!!!” Chris insists. “Google Maps! My address ain’t no secret spot.” “I’ll be there at 4,” Chris says, attempting to make it sound like he is eager for this confrontation. “Police,” Offset replies, clearly shaming Chris, and using a police emoji. “Naw, that’s ya’ll,” Chris fires back. “Ya’ll police.” “Not comin’ to your house when I see you know it’s up,” Offset writes, clearly refusing Chris’ bait. “Boy, you’re p–sy as hell,” Chris accuses. “You’re scared to fight?” “Stop DMing me,” Offset writes. “This police right here, bro.” “I’m a grown man,” Chris Brown insists. “You’re a little boy. I’ll be home at 4.” Chris then sets some conditions: “No opp s–t, cameras, police, none of that s–t.” “I’m just going to beat you the f–k up,” Chris vows. “MY ADDRESS,” Chris continues. “Please [show] up. I pray you come.” Offset replies: “12.” Chris fires back: “Boy, run me my fade. Stop acting p–sy.” It’s unclear if Chris really hopes to goad Offset into showing up for the confrontation. It may be that, at this point, he had decided that he would reveal the messages, and decided to go all in to “impress” his fans. While there are plenty of people who would risk their own safety to give Chris Brown a taste of what he deserves, Offset … should not. Not only is he a person with his own well-being to consider, but he’s also a father. We have all seen the photos of the kind of violence that Chris can inflict upon a person. By exposing his DMs with Offset, Chris hopes to shame Offset for not making good on his threats, even though it was the sensible choice. In the world of rap, a man’s perceived willingness to fight is sometimes linked with his reputation for authenticity. In other words, when Chris shared these DMs, he went for the jugular. Former South Carolina state representative Bakari Sellers threw some shots at Token Yeezy’s visit with the Orange Overlord of Chaos, which caused fellow panelist Scott Jennings, who is white, to react with his eyebrows that had host Don Lemon cracking up. Mediate reports : A CNN panelist Tuesday night called Kanye West “the token Negro of the Trump Administration.” The remark was as part of a discussion about the news that West will meet with Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday — a visit which comes after the rapper’s most recent shows of support for the president. CNN’s Don Lemon asked his panel — which featured liberal commentator Bakari Sellers, conservative commentator Tara Setmayer, and conservative commentator Scott Jennings — for their take on whether this lunch will be about policy or celebrity photo-ops. The outlet points at Sellers saying, “Kanye West is what happens when Negroes don’t read,” with Setmayer explaining to Jennings it was a reference to a Chris Rock joke. Setmayer then made a reference to Dave Chappelle’s racial draft skit in regards to West, which Jennings excitedly said he knew of as an apparent fan of the show. Lemon gamely tried to hold his composure although he was less successful than some may have hoped. F lorida’s GOP party will likely have to lick their wounds after Andrew Gillum has begun fighting back against their attack ads. Gillum had reportedly issued a cease-and-desist letter to TV stations to stop airing messages from Rob DeSantis , his Republican opponent for the state’s governor race, after suspending his campaign amid Hurricane Michael . However, he found himself on the receiving end of ads that criticized him for his handling of 2016’s Hurricane Hermine, which caused power outages in Tallahassee. The state’s GOP party had begun running the ads as Michael hit the ground, with DeSantis’ campaign being primarily responsible for the ads, Think Progress reported. Gillum has called out the decision to air the ads at such a sensitive time and in the middle of a potentially life-threatening storm. “We can’t recall a time where candidates for statewide office have not pulled down negative ads during hurricane season,” the gubernatorial candidate said to MSNBC. “You’ve got a whole region of our state, where folks are fleeing for their lives, anticipating what is a life-threatening event impacting this state. I again would encourage my opponent to just subside with the politics.” Florida’s Republican Party decided to walk back the ads, they said on Wednesday, according to Politico . The decision, however, came after former Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) administrator and Florida Emergency Management Director Craig Fugate asked the state’s candidates to stop running negative ads. Many in the nation have agreed that the focus should be on residents during Hurricane Michael, not on campaign ads. Now free, the comedian had an arrest warrant out on him in Georgia but he somehow managed to avoid extradition. TMZ reports: Law enforcement in Multnomah County, Oregon tells us Katt was released from jail at around 2 PM PT. He’d been cooling off in a cell since getting arrested Saturday for allegedly assaulting a driver. We’re told he was cut loose after authorities in Hall County, GA declined to extradite the comedian for failing to appear in court last month. We broke the story … Katt had a felony warrant issued for his arrest after he skipped court to attend the Emmys. Sources close to Katt told us he’s blaming his management for failing to remind him about his date with a judge. Eliza Stafford alleged in a Facebook post that the RiFF RAFF requested she come backstage and then handed her a double shot from a “vodka” bottle. Well, it wasn’t vodka. The syrup Eliza allegedly ingested skews her memory, but she says what happened next left her ‘crawling out of a hotel room on all fours.’ In 2013 I was raped by a man whose stage name is “Riff Raff”. I went to his show because my boyfriend at the time was a huge fan. My boyfriend was with me at the concert. I was asked mid-show to come backstage, and as a 19 year old I was flattered and complied. When I got backstage I was offered a shot from a (branded) vodka bottle that was sitting on the table. I was offered a 60ml ‘party’ shot. I took the shot, it was syrup and I immediately asked what it was. Riff raff and his support act told me that it was codeine and started laughing. I don’t remember anything from that point. A couple of my friends were at the concert and when I didn’t come outside from backstage, asked what had happened. Another girl who had been backstage with me told them that I had been coerced to get in to a car with riff raff and his support act. She didn’t do anything. I had been actively fighting against them as she watched and they had eventually forced me in to a car. She told my friends this, we were all young and they didn’t tell anyone and I don’t blame them. I woke up as Riff raff was pulling out of me and getting in to the shower. I crawled – truly, on all fours -out of the hotel room and managed to get outside where I booked a taxi who wouldn’t take me because I was “too drunk”. I begged him to take me home, got back to my boyfriends house, and he was angry at me for “blowing him off”. I was punished for 6 months within that relationship for what “I did”. I was raped and blamed myself for 5 years. I got a notification today because I work at in Richmond, and he is performing at the corner hotel next Friday night. I will be 50 metres from my rapist all night. About 6 months ago, I contacted my friends who were there to ask how much they remembered. They remember everything, we were children and didn’t know how to respond. If you are planning on attending the riff raff show at the corner next week I urge you to reconsider. After news of Eliza’s allegation spread, Audiopaxx, an Australian music managing company announced that RiFF RAFF’s tour would be totally tossed. TOUR UPDATE: we have been made aware of allegations made against Houston rapper Riff Raff. Audiopaxx takes these matters seriously and does not condone any of this alleged behaviour. In light of this, we have spoken to his management team and the scheduled tour of Australia and New Zealand has been cancelled, effective immediately. No charges against RiFF RAFF have reportedly been made. Insane.
