Lauren Conrad’s ex-boyfriend, Stephen Colletti, is dating Chelsea Kane, the Disney and Dancing with the Stars cutie, according to new reports. “We were set up on a blind date by my manager,” Kane says. It turns out the dancer has been a fan of Colletti, who now stars on One Tree Hill , since his days with LC on MTV’s reality hit Laguna Beach . “She tore his photo out of a magazine to show friends!” says a friend , presumably meaning back then, and not like last week. Cute stuff! In other DWTS news, Kendra Wilkinson has been feeling so degraded and sad lately, while Kirstie Alley is allegedly a control freak. Good to know, Us! On ‘Idol Party Live,’ McDonald talks about his appearance in KC Jockey’s 2008 ‘Rub Your Body’ video. By James Montgomery, with reporting by Rya Backer Paul McDonald Photo: MTV News Back in 2008, Paul McDonald hadn’t even dreamed of auditioning for “American Idol” and probably had no idea who Nikki Reed was . Instead, he was on tour with his band, the Grand Magnolias, and, on a rare off day, decided to roll into Atlanta to see his manager. Little did he know that infamy awaited. See, on that day, McDonald and his bandmates unwittingly appeared in a rap video for KC Jockey, an artist under the tutelage of Akon. Sadly, much like the video itself, McDonald’s rather amazing cameos (he smiled a lot even back then) went unnoticed — until the singer began making waves on “Idol,” at which point Jockey’s “Rub Your Body” clip quickly made waves across the show’s many fan sites. It is, to be quite honest, one of the most inexplicable things you’ll ever see (McDonald makes his first appearance as a background dancer around the 2:20 mark). And so, when he stopped by the MTV Newsroom last week, we had to ask the beaming crooner just how the rather amazing bit of music history came to be. “This was a rap video that I stumbled into,” he laughed on MTV News’ “Idol Party Live,” which streams live Thursdays at noon on MTV.com. “Back in the day, my manager lived in Atlanta, and we were going to a Raconteurs concert at the Tabernacle, and he lives in this big complex where a bunch of rappers … lived, and we walked in there and they were like, ‘Hey, Akon is filming a video in the penthouse upstairs, you guys should go up and say “what’s up!,” ‘ because he knew we were in a band. “And as soon as we went up, everyone was partying, and they’re like, ‘Guys, come in here! Get in the video!’ So I got in there and, yes, I made my rap-video debut,” he continued. “I thought it was an Akon video the whole time. It ended up being KC Jockey ‘Rub Your Body.’ ” But rather than be embarrassed by his cameo — and, with the dancing he displays, he probably should be — McDonald has come to embrace his brief dalliance into the world of hip-hop. We reported last week that while Gucci Mane’s bail is only $5,000, the wealthy Atlanta rapper had yet to post bail and remains incarcerated in the DeKalb County Jail. Sgt. Adrian Bell of the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office explained to Hot 107.9 that Gucci (born Radric Delantic Davis) was still locked up because “he has a probation violation and he has to go to Fulton County to answer those charges.” According to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Gucci was officially moved from DeKalb County to the Fulton County Jail today. There’s still no word about if and when Gucci will be able to post bail in Fulton. “He has to have a probation hearing in Fulton County before bond is set,” said Tracy Flanagan, Public Affairs Information Officer for the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. Meanwhile, Hip Hop Wired is reporting that Gucci’s lawyer is denying the accusations that the rapper pushed a woman from his moving Hummer and that Gucci intends to plead not guilty to charges next Tuesday. Yesterday (April 19), the Brick Squad CEO was formally charged with battery, reckless conduct and disorderly conduct by DeKalb County prosecutors. Read more here. Ernie Hudson says he hasn’t been offered a role in the 3rd installment in the Ghostbusters franchise despite reports that the film is actually happening. Hudson starred as Winston Zeddemore in the first two Ghostbusters films. “I haven’t seen anybody with any money, but I hear it’s happening,” Hudson told TMZ . “I’ve been reading all of the press stuff and the fans have been telling me that it’s on so we’ll see. Despite attempts by filmakers like Spike Lee ( School Daze ) and Sylvain White ( Stomp The Yard ) it has been almost impossible to capture the true spirit of Fraternity and Sorority life on film–until now. On April 10th photographer John Ledbetter , a member of the Beta Gamma Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc at Virginia State University, posted a highlight reel from a recent probate show of Spring 2011 initiates. The moving clip is anchored by Dear Euphoria’s “That You Would” and features the final moments as twenty-two young men make the transition from being initiates to being members of the fraternity. In the days since it was published the three-minute clip has received over 50,000 views and universal praise from members of various fraternities and sororities across the country, not just in his own. “It’s funny because I just posted it on my Facebook page and went to get something to eat,” says Ledbetter, who was initiated at Beta Gamma in 2003. “When I came back it went a little viral. I have a friend from Canada who knows nothing about Frats but she said when she saw this video it just summed it up for her. Ledbetter, who is employed by the government in D.C., is a self-taught photographer who shoots in his spare time on weekends. He admits that his true passion is music and that the song is what inspired him to shoot the probate or “coming out” festivities. “The aim was just to do highlights,” he says. “Virginia State University has a lot of Greek pride and Roger Stadium is packed for all the probates. My probate was the same. We start at Williams Dorm and we walk down the strip into the stadium. I knew the show like the back of my hand.” Inspired by the silent movie genius Charlie Chaplin, Ledbetter wanted to tell the story with music. Mother Nature proved to be a willing assistant director as the elements came into play adding dramatic effect. “I was praying that it would be outside because there were reports of rain,” he remembers. “Visually the natural light makes for a better shot so it was a bonus that we were outside. Then of course the rain started falling and it was crazy. I kept my camera out. I said I don’t care if this zaps out I’m getting this footage!” Ledbetter shot the clip with a Canon 5D and a series of lenses; 35mm L series, 24 to 70 L series, 70-200 L series. It took him an hour to chop it up in Final Cut and he used Magic Bullet Looks for the color correction. It was about 12GB worth of footage that he chopped down into four minutes. “A lot of people are fascinated because we don’t see shows like that nationwide anymore,” he says. “But my style is not scripted.
