Kate Middleton and Prince William: The Official Engagement Photos

Royal romance alert: Kate Middleton and Prince William have posed for their first official photos as an engaged couple. Taken at St. James’s Palace in London, the following pictures were snapped by Mario Testino, who said of the session: “I am very happy to have been asked to cover this historic moment that the whole world was waiting for. They are in their prime and brimming with happiness. I have never felt so much joy as when I see them together.” The big event will take place on April 29… that is, if certain scandalous shots of Kate and her family don’t ruin everything. For now, plans are going ahead as scheduled.

Selena Gomez on Justin Bieber Breakfast Date: Just Pancakes!

When is breakfast at IHOP more than just a chance to catch up over some deliciously greasy fare? When it involves two of the world’s most popular pop singers. Indeed, the Internet has been buzzing over the supposed date Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber went on late last week, as the two were seen all cute and cozy at the aforementioned establishment. Can we officially dub these two “Jelena?” Not exactly, Gomez says. “It was just pancakes! Oh my gosh!” she exclaimed to Us Weekly , adding in an interview with MTV: “Who doesn’t like pancakes? We were both performing in the same place so we went and had pancakes together. That’s all it is. All innocent.” Well… that’s no fun. Selena does admit that she’s close to Bieber, but not in the way many have been believing. “I love Justin. When he first started to come over from Canada his manager contacted me and he just said that he would like to meet me and he was just such a good kid… I feel like a big sister now, ’cause I want to protect him.”

Christina Aguilera Says Her AMA Performance Will Be A ‘Spectacle’

‘You’re going to get quite the show,’ she tells MTV News of performing a ‘Burlesque’ number at Sunday’s show. By Kara Warner Christina Aguilera Photo: MTV News The American Music Awards are known for their high-octane performances , and this year is no exception, with Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Kid Rock, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Pink, Usher, Ne-Yo, Diddy and more set to hit the stage. Christina Aguilera will also be performing, doing a number from her upcoming movie “Burlesque.” When MTV News caught up with the Grammy winner/ movie newbie recently, while doing press with her hunky “Burlesque” co-star Cam Gigandet, we asked her what fans can expect from her AMA performance. “It’s going to be fantastic,” she said. “And it will give you a fitting little look inside the movie.” Aguilera said her saucy, burlesque-style dancing will set her performance apart from past appearances. “It will be another very new challenge for me,” Aguilera admitted. “My legs have been incredibly sore as I stepped into the role of Ali for this.” In the film, Aguilera plays a small-town girl with big dreams — Ali — who stumbles on a burlesque club owned by the feisty Tess (Cher). Aguilera added that, while re-learning the dance routines was grueling, the choreography is amazing. “You’re going to get quite the show,” she promised. “Quite the spectacle.” While Aguilera is new to the world of acting, Cher told MTV News that the pop star can dish it out with the best of them. “The scenes that she and I had together, I really enjoyed, and I really believe that she’s got definite chops,” she said. “We worked well together. I enjoyed all of it, and she was toe-to-toe with me the whole time.” What are you expecting from Christina’s AMA performance? Let us know in the comments! Kanye West, Nicki Minaj And Ke$ha Lead Huge Album-Release Week

My Chemical Romance also moved their album to Monday to get a jump on the holidays. By Gil Kaufman Kanye West Photo: MJ Kim/ Getty Images It happens every year around this time. No, not that food coma from too much turkey — the parade of megastar albums that drops the week of Thanksgiving. While the past two weeks have already seen the release of a number of potential blockbusters, from Taylor Swift’s instant-platinum Speak Now to new albums from Susan Boyle, Kid Rock, Rihanna, Josh Groban and Rascal Flatts, Monday’s bumper crop could help pump some life into the holiday season. After Kanye West decided to stake out the off-cycle Monday as the release date for his eagerly anticipated My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, his competitors fell in line to take advantage of the holiday-week sales rush, with Nicki Minaj, My Chemical Romance and Ke$ha pushing their release dates up one day as well. “I think Kanye will do great,” said Carl Mello, director of purchasing for the 28-store Newbury Comics chain, one of the few remaining non-big-box music retailers in the nation. “He did himself a lot of favors putting up so many tracks during the year and engaging with the audience.” Between the string of G.O.O.D. Friday releases and his headline-grabbing “Runaway” mini-movie , Mello said Kanye set the album up by whetting his audience’s appetite for months on end. As for Nicki’s Pink Friday, even though she spent the year building up cred with a series of features and her own hit “Your Love,” Mello predicted she’d do “fine” but wasn’t expecting her to put up Kanye numbers. “It’s nice to have a female rapper who is credible and has a chance at being quite popular,” he said. The bigger challenge might come for My Chem, whose Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys has gotten good buzz thanks to the speedy single “Na Na Na,” but they have been out of stores since 2006’s The Black Parade, which divided some fans. “There’s almost nothing harder to sell than something that reacted well with 13- to 14-year-olds a few years ago, but who don’t necessarily make the journey with the band over the years,” he said, noting the dive in popularity of similar bands such as Fall Out Boy and Good Charlotte. And though first-week sales of Rihanna’s Loud are not expected to be blockbuster, Mello also said he expects that album and Kid Rock’s Born Free to be solid sellers through the end of the year, along with Kid Cudi’s Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, as well as Swift and previously released discs by Eminem and Lil Wayne. Billboard magazine Senior Chart Manager and analyst Keith Caulfield agrees that West will probably have the biggest sales week, but said Ne-Yo could also have a solid bow with Libra Scale after months of working singles to radio. While he thinks Nicki could have a good week, Caulfield was cautious about Ke$ha’s Cannibal. “She could also do well, but because she’s so track-oriented, it’s hard to say,” he said. “The best comparison for Nicki would seem to be Missy Elliott at her height with Under Construction, which sold 259,000 in its first week, and that’s when people bought a lot of records. It’s hard to gauge how an artist who, up until this point, has been very track-oriented but has an established record for a long time before releasing a proper album will do.” He pointed to fellow Young Money rapper Drake, who built his career up for nearly a year with a popular mixtape and features before releasing a full-length debut. “She’s very different. She’s colorful and versatile, but it’s hard to pinpoint how that will translate into sales,” he said, noting that “Your Love” has sold a very respectable 700,000 downloads to date. Also in the mix are greatest-hits releases from Jay-Z and Pink; Lloyd Banks’ H.F.M.2 ; the reissue of Nine Inch Nails’ debut, Pretty Hate Machine ; a Jimi Hendrix box set that Mello said is doing very well at his stores; Bruce Springsteen’s The Promise archival set; the “Burlesque” soundtrack; and next Friday, a Target exclusive acoustic set from Justin Bieber. And the hits will keep coming through the holidays, with a Christmas-themed “Glee” soundtrack on November 30 — which will also bring the latest from the Black Eyed Peas, The Beginning — followed the next week by T.I.’s No Mercy. December 14 brings the last potential blockbuster of 2010, the first posthumous album of Michael Jackson material, Michael, as well as the major-label debut of “American Idol” season-nine runner-up Crystal Bowersox, Farmer’s Daughter ; R. Kelly’s Love Letter ; and Ciara’s Basic Instinct. (All release dates subject to change.) Which new release are you looking forward to the most? Let us know in the comments!

Paris Hilton’s Old New Bff is Still Trying of the Day

I had the unfortunate pleasure of meeting Brittany Flicklinger drunk last summer. She was a cunt who acted like she was actually famous and better than us, before I told her what I did and her really fucking desperate for any attention self agreed to do an interview for the site, so I sent over a gang of retards to deal with her, and bitch was pretty fucking pathetic. From struggling to get booked at clubs, to struggling to get people to even know who she was, to struggling to figure out publicity stunts, but not willing to let us film her getting fucked, the whole thing was almost sad….that was until her manager started hitting me up, threatening to kill me, cuz he was actually a drug dealer, very angry his girl got misrepresented…..The whole thing was a joke, she was a fucking joke, and we all moved on to forget about her, as we should, but I guess she’s decided to make a comeback and she’s doing that by flashing some panty….totally uninteresting…but better than what I was up to last night, which was a half hour coversation with two lesbian night shift security guards having a cigarette outside the mall they work at about how they fuck each other in the lingerie department while they work cuz no one is around to watch over….which I guess is actually more substantial than this reality tv scum on the bottom of the barrel of scum that is already at the bottom of the barrel…. Here she is drunk and fighting as hard as she can to get noticed…..and unfortuantely, I noticed….Just so you know, I hate myself for this. For Old Times Sake…Here’s the interview my gag of retards did with her….

AP White House Reporter Loven Jumps to Liberal Democratic Political PR/Lobbying Shop

Jennifer Loven, an 18-year AP veteran and the wire service’s chief White House correspondent, has decided to put her communications talents to work for The Glover Park Group , a “strategic communications firm” founded in 2001 by a bunch of Clinton and Gore staffers, most prominently Joe Lockhart, who found themselves unemployed after the 2000 election. She’ll be “Managing Director in its Public Affairs practice,” a Thursday press release from the Glover Park Group, plugged by Politico’s Mike Allen , announced. She’s the second President in a row of the White House Correspondents’ Association to leave journalism for a left-wing, or at least left-leaning, lobbying outfit. In June, Bloomberg’s White House reporter, Ed Chen, formerly of the Los Angeles Times, jumped to the Natural Resources Defense Council as Federal Communications Director. (My complete Obama-journalism revolving door list .) Loven held the WHCA position for 2008-2009 and was succeeded by Chen. Amongst the clients touted on the Glover Park Group’s Web site: American Civil Liberties Union, Alliance for Climate Protection, Campaign for Women’s Lives, Better World Campaign and the Center for Interfaith Action on Global Poverty. They also list some corporate clients, but no conservative activist groups. The firm’s leaders include a who’s who of ex-Clinton and Gore operatives, such as “Founding Partner and Managing Director” Joe Lockhart , “the former chief spokesman and senior adviser to President Bill Clinton from 1998-2000” who “served as Senior Advisor to Sen. John Kerry’s 2004 presidential bid.” Earlier, he toiled as “Deputy Press Secretary for the 1988 Dukakis-Bentsen campaign, and Assistant Press Secretary for the 1984 Mondale-Ferraro campaign.” In between all that, he put in stints as “Assignment Editor at ABC News and Deputy Assignment Manager for CNN in Washington.” Another “Founding Partner and Managing Director,” Carter Eskew , “was Chief Strategist for the Gore 2000 presidential campaign, leading the message and creative team that helped Vice President Gore win every primary and caucus, secure the nomination, then make up a 20 point deficit in the polls to a victory in the popular vote.” Susan Brophy , “Managing Director,” from 1993-1998 was “Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs, where she developed, implemented and directed legislative strategy with the White House, administration and Congress in support of President Clinton’s policy priorities.” Loven’s husband, by the way, is a liberal environmental activist. A 2009 National Review “Media Blog” post provided an excerpt from this bio for him: Roger Ballentine is the President of Green Strategies Inc., where he advises and represents businesses, associations, government agencies and non-profit entities on domestic and international public policy issues and business strategies, focusing on energy, conservation and environmental matters. Roger is also a Senior Fellow at the Progressive Policy Institute in Washington D.C. where he works to develop cutting edge, third way approaches to public policy challenges in the areas of energy and the environment. He also served as Senior Advisor to the Kerry-Edwards Campaign on energy and environmental matters. Roger previously was a senior member of the White House staff, serving President Bill Clinton as Chairman of the White House Climate Change Task Force and Deputy Assistant to the President for Environmental Initiatives. Prior to being named Deputy Assistant to the President, Mr. Ballentine was Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs, where he focused on energy and environment issues. … He and his wife, journalist Jennifer Loven, reside in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

What’s It Like To Sing With Green Day At Lollapalooza? Dan Michie Knows

‘The entire time, I wasn’t even thinking,’ super-fan tells MTV News of performing ‘Longview’ with the band. By James Montgomery Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong performs at Lollapalooza Photo: Rich Sancho/ MTV News It’s been a fixture at recent Green Day shows for the band to pick a hyperventilating fan out of the crowd and have them sing “Longview,” but rarely — if ever — do they perform the song as mightily as 17-year-old Dan Michie, who wowed fans with his rendition (and boundless enthusiasm) during the band’s Saturday night set at Lollapalooza . In fact, Michie ruled the stage to such an extent that MTV News tracked him down and asked him all about his moment in the spotlight. And, not surprisingly, he doesn’t remember a whole lot of it. “To be honest, the entire time, I wasn’t even thinking. It just happened,” he laughed. “When Billie [Joe Armstrong] picked me, everyone was screaming so loudly that I didn’t know what he was saying. I knew he was pointing to someone around me, and before I knew it, security was yanking me over the barrier. One guard carried me like a baby and pushed me towards the stage, and then, since it was the first time I’d used my legs in like eight hours, I almost tripped and fell on my face.” Luckily, he didn’t. He slowly got to the stage and saw Armstrong (and tens of thousands of fans) staring directly at him. And then, things went completely blank. “There are no words to describe it. If you’ve ever seen 80,000 people before, that’s one thing, but seeing them look back at you, that’s something that doesn’t even seem real,” Michie said. “And then, when I was walking towards [Armstrong] to give him a hug, I was just thinking, ‘Oh my God.’ You see him in pictures every day, but it’s a completely different thing to see him in real life.” And then, after giving Armstrong a quick kiss — “It was kind of wet,” Michie joked — Green Day kicked into the song, and Michie just sort of took off. He rocketed back and forth across the stage, belting out the lyrics perfectly, while the crowd cheered and the band tried very hard not to crack up. And, as is par for the course, he doesn’t really remember much of this either. “It just happened. I didn’t have to think of the words; they just came out,” he said. “And I had seen videos of other fans singing [the song], and they just stood there, so I knew I wanted to run around and go crazy. But I don’t really remember doing it.” After his performance — and subsequent ovation — Armstrong gave Michie a guitar, which was certainly amazing but sort of presented him with a whole new challenge: How the heck was he going to get home? He had originally planned on taking the train, but Green Day’s tour manager wouldn’t allow it, so, for a moment, he appeared to be stuck in Grant Park. Thankfully, the band arranged for a driver to take Michie back to his house in the suburbs of Chicago, where he — and the guitar — now safely rest. And though he plays in a band (they’re called Patmos ), he has no plans of ever using the guitar onstage. “It’s going in a frame,” he said. In the days since his performance, Michie has become a bit of a star. Footage from Lollapalooza has made the rounds on YouTube , and complete strangers are leaving him congratulatory messages on his Facebook page. For a kid who’s a Green Day obsessive, it’s pretty much the greatest thing that ever could’ve happened. And it’s made even sweeter by the fact that he had come so close to joining the band before, only to have his hopes dashed at the last second. “When I saw Green Day at the United Center last summer, Billie was looking for people to pull up and play ‘Jesus of Suburbia’ on guitar,” he said. “I had a sign, and after he had pulled up a kid and kicked him off right away, he talked to me for a solid 13 seconds about playing the song. He then proceeded to pick a kid who was about three people away from me. I know what it’s like to be disappointed like that, but believe me, if you try really hard and be nice to people, your dreams will come true.” What would you do if your favorite band pulled you up onstage?
