Photo: Jive Despite his headline-making outburst following an interview with “Good Morning America,” for which he later apologized in an interview with BET’s 106 & Park, it seems that Chris Brown’s latest release, F.A.M.E. , is slated to jump to the top of the charts next week. According to Billboard , the album will sell approximately 250,000 to 300,000 copies by the time the week ends. It marks the first time Brown has had one of his albums debut at #1. His previous efforts, Chris Brown, Exclusive (2007) and 2009’s Graffiti, debuted at #2, #4 and #7, respectively. Brown’s overwhelming chart success may come as a surprise to experts, who believed that given all the negative headlines this week, Brown’s behavior may have turned off potential fans. “I definitely think this is a huge step back for him,” Ian Drew, senior music editor at Us Weekly, said. “It was a huge mistake. You control how you react. He didn’t react the right way. “[But] there’s always a way back … My advice to him would be: Just don’t do any interviews and put out a strong record and let it speak for itself,” Drew continued. “Let the music do the talking. Let that be the statement.” Brown isn’t the only new release on the charts next week. Jennifer Hudson’s I Remember Me will hit the charts at #2 with around 160,000 units projected to be sold. The Strokes, who released their first new album in a half a decade, may potentially debut at #3, selling around 90,000 units with Angles . Adele , who held the top spot with her album 21, will be bumped to #5, with Kirk Franklin’s Hello Fear hitting #4. After landing the #1 album last week with his Never Say Never – The Remixes , Bieber had to settle for #2 this week to make room for Adele’s 21 . But the rush of attention on the now- 17-year-old pop star thanks to his big-screen debut in “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never” helped propel his nearly year-old My World 2.0 back into the top five at #5, a feat that Billboard Associate Director of Charts Keith Caulfield said was a “very big deal.” In fact, Bieber is the first artist to have two albums in the top five at the same time since he achieved the same feat nearly a year ago. The last time it happened was in March of 2010 when 2.0 debuted at #1 while the singer’s debut, My World, was at #5. Caulfield said that before that, it hadn’t happened since October 2004 when rapper Nelly’s simultaneous album release of Sweat and Suit both crashed the top five at #1 and #2. If you go back to the last artist to do it without releasing two new albums at the same time, you have to look to May 2003, when 50 Cent’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’ was at #5 and his The New Breed CD/DVD debuted at #2. “Any way you look at it, it’s unusual,” said Caulfield, noting that even with all their success on the charts lately, not even Lady Gaga or Taylor Swift have notched that achievement. “It helps that you have four Bieber albums to choose from on the charts right now.” Related Photos Justin Bieber Turns 17! By James Dinh Nicki Minaj Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Nicki Minaj has been tapped as the musical guest for an upcoming episode of “Saturday Night Live.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Young Money MC will join “Social Network” star Jesse Eisenberg, who will serve as host, for the show’s January 29 broadcast. THR also reported that Linkin Park will perform during the February 5 episode, which is set to feature hosting duties from former “SNL” castmember Dana Carvey. Known for her out-of-the-box fashion and manic rhymes, Minaj will likely perform her new single, “Moment 4 Life,” featuring Drake, as she brought the tune to her appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” earlier this week. Eisenberg’s and Minaj’s upcoming appearance marks the first time for both on the sketch show. “SNL” isn’t the only treat Minaj has up her sleeve for her fans. Minaj recently teamed up with Rihanna to shoot the music video for another one of the MC’s new singles, “Fly.” When E! News asked about the concept for the upcoming clip, Nicki remained tight-lipped, saying, “We’re going to save the world in more ways than one with the video, and that’s all I can say about that.” However, it was the duo’s TwitPics that sent the Internet ablaze when rumors circulated that Nicki and Rihanna were living together . The MC took to Ryan Seacrest’s radio show to clear the air. “I don’t know where people got this really insane, hilarious, random rumor that she and I were living together,” she said. “We just shot the video for a song I have on the album I have called ‘Fly,’ and when I saw her, the first thing I said was, ‘So, did you hear we’re living together?’ and we just started cracking up laughing. She was like, ‘Yo, I can’t believe that people are, like, this ridiculous. Today marks the first day of school for students in Prince George’s County, Md. The county borders Washington, D.C. to the east and is true blue liberal Democrat in its politics, so it’s no wonder that its brand new elementary school would be named after President Obama. Local NBC affiliate WRC-TV has the story at its website , NBCWashington.com, where at the time I wrote this post, some 69% of readers were “furious” at the news, compared to 8 percent who were “thrilled.” It’s not a scientific survey by any stretch, but it is amusing, particularly given the site’s largely local-to-D.C. readership. “There have been other schools named after President Obama in the country, but this will be a first in his own backyard in the D.C. region,” NBC Washington’s Megan McGrath noted.

On Thursday (July 1) at Madame Tussauds in Times Square, the reality star unveiled the latest wax figure by the famed museum. And this one was of herself. For someone who is photographed as often as Kardashian, she is still reeling at the thought of standing next to an exact replica of herself. “When I first heard I was going to be immortalized, I was so honored,” she told MTV News at the unveiling event. “I mean, it’s a pretty cool thing. I called my sisters right away, and it looks so much like me, it’s scary. It’s probably one of the biggest honors, so [my sisters] were so excited for me.” So, how does Kardashian think the statue turned out? “It is weird! It’s like she’s prettier than I am. It’s so weird, like, my arms and the hands … everything about it is so exact that it’s weird to see yourself,” she laughed. “So now I can really see from an outsider’s point of view. It’s weird.” It really had us wondering what she would think of herself if she saw herself walking down the street. “I’d say she’s pretty hot!” she joked. “I’m just kidding. She has better hair than I do.” To add to the uncanny similarities between herself and her wax figure, Kardashian wore the same exact hot pink Herve Leger bandage dress the statue is wearing. “Well I wanted something that would represent my style, something tight and sexy and fun and flirty,” she explained, adding that there’s even a star or two she — or rather her statue — would like to be standing near. “There’s so many amazing, iconic people. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Megan Fox Photo: MTV News There’s a moment at the end of the “Jonah Hex” trailer when Megan Fox and Josh Brolin are chained up in the cargo hold of a ship . “Still got that knife in your garter?” Brolin’s scarred bounty hunter asks Fox’s Frontier-era prostitute. Alas, their captors have seized that weapon. “Still got that derringer in your bustle?” he wonders aloud. Nope. Turns out their adversaries were thorough in their body search of Fox’s character, and for the foreseeable future those two are going to be stuck in their chains. But Brolin’s lines do speak to one reality in this upcoming comic book adaptation: Fox’s character is one weapon-happy ass-kicker. And the 24-year-old actress was well-positioned to pull off such a portrayal, since she practically grew up with a shotgun slung over her shoulder. “As a grown adult, I don’t mess around with guns at all. I have a fear of them,” she told MTV News. “But as a child, I grew up in the South. I grew up in Tennessee, and my dad, as a hobby, is a duck hunter. He used to go kill ducks and bring them home, and we would eat them for dinner … we would barbecue them.” Fox’s dad made sure that from an early age his daughter was well-acquainted with his weapon of choice. “He taught me how to shoot a shotgun,” she said. “When I was 5 and 6 years old, we went target shooting with shotguns. So I’ve handled a gun before — an enormous shotgun — when I was a little kid.” “Jonah Hex,” though, marks the first time Fox has ever handled a gun on a movie set. The experience was not as easy as she thought it would be. “In the movie, it’s my first time, and it was actually way more difficult than I anticipated it being,” she said. That’s not the state motto, but the tourism board should consider it after taking a peek at Game’s new video for “Shake,” an MTV News exclusive. In the video, Game, rubs shoulders with a number of celebs, from actress Stacey Dash to Bow Wow to producers Cool & Dre. The opening scene finds Dash gazing out at the beach from the balcony of a secluded property. Game quickly walks up behind her, taking in the view, before backing away into the house again. There, the camera pans to reveal two scantily clad women asleep on the couch. The L.A. rapper then strolls into his walk-in closet — which is a modest characterization. Game’s “closet” is about the size of your local Foot Locker and boasts more sneakers and athletic apparel than the retailer. He sports a pair of Air Jordans and a throwback Michael Jordan jersey and begins his adventure. The ensuing high jinks take Game from behind the wheel of an SUV to riding shotgun in a red Ferrari. Along the way, he stops by Bow Wow’s for a quick pickup, then he’s back on the road. (The contents of the bag the rappers pass from one to the other are revealed at the end.) Directed by Taydoe and financed by Game, the video marks the first offering from his mixtape The Red Room,/i> out Monday. The mixtape features appearances by Birdman, Nipsey Hussle, Hurricane Chris and others. His next full-length project, The R.E.D. On ‘American Idol,’ Bowersox earned big praise for singing Janis Joplin’s posthumous hit. By Kyle Anderson Once again, one of the highlights of Tuesday night’s episode of “American Idol” — which was focused on songs that had hit No. 1 on the pop charts — was Crystal Bowersox’s performance. Armed with her trusty guitar and her disarming voice, the rocker sang “Me and Bobby McGee,” which reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in 1971. There’s a bittersweet feeling within the lyrics of “Bobby,” as well as in the story surrounding it. The song was written by country legends Kris Kristofferson (who has had a string of hits himself) and Fred Foster (who produced much of Roy Orbison’s best work and helped introduce the world to Dolly Parton) and was recorded by “King of the Road” singer Roger Miller and Canadian folk king Gordon Lightfoot in 1969 and 1970, respectively. Both of those versions became hits, but neither was as big as the one recorded by Joplin, who was friends and occasional lovers with Kristofferson. The bluesy growler recorded the song without his knowledge for her solo album Pearl, which she cut with the Full Tilt Boogie Band. Pearl came out in February of 1971, four months after Joplin’s October 1970 death from a heroin overdose. “Me and Bobby McGee” was released as a commercial single and hit No. 1 on the Hot 100 during the week of March 20, 1971, making Joplin only the second person in history to top that chart posthumously. Though Joplin’s version remains definitive, “Me and Bobby McGee” has been covered by a number of artists, including country greats Kenny Rogers and Johnny Cash, rock icons the Grateful Dead and Melissa Etheridge, and pop idols Olivia Newton-John and Jennifer Love Hewitt. Pink’s version of the track appears on her “Live in Europe” DVD, and Tori Amos has broken it out in concert. Bowersox’s version marks the first time “Me and Bobby McGee” has appeared on “American Idol,” though songs performed by Joplin have popped up five times before. Nikki McKibbin, Carrie Underwood and Asia’h Epperson are among the “Idol” hopefuls who have performed “Piece of My Heart,” while Allison Iraheta knocked out Joplin’s “Cry Baby” last season.
