Source: Jesse Grant / Getty Judge Grants Tisha Campbell Martin Temporary Restraining Order After Ex-Husband Duane Martin After Domestic Abuse Claims According to TMZ , Tisha Campbell-Martin claims her estranged husband (Duane Martin) has been abusive for years and that he flew into a violent rage just last month. The sitcom star filed for a restraining order against Duane, alleging he once “punched her in the chest with a closed fist”. She also says in December, Duane “grabbed me by my arm to try to get me in the bedroom.” She reportedly filed a police report in January about the multiple alleged physical altercations. Duane allegedly started physically, emotionally and mentally abusing Tisha as early as the beginning their marriage in 1996 and that he berated her about her weight and inability to land roles because of her bigger size. “I can no longer live in fear of retaliation … the need to press criminal charges for his acts overshadows the embarrassment of making his crimes against me public through this report.” she claims. A judge granted her a temporary restraining order that requires Duane to stay at least 100 yards away from her as they iron out the particulars of their divorce.
Earlier this week, the comedy world was stunned by the passing of Kevin Barnett . The highly-respected comic and co-creator of the Fox series Rel was just 32 at the time of his death. Details of Barnett’s final hours remain scarce, but it’s now been confirmed pancreatitis was the comedian’s cause of death. Barnett was vacationing in Mexico at the time of his passing. “We can confirm the death of a U.S. citizen, Kevin Barnett, in Tijuana on Jan. 22,” a U.S. Department of State official told E! News in a statement issued on Thursday. “We offer our sincerest condolences to his family on their loss, and we stand ready to provide all appropriate consular assistance. Out of respect to the family during this difficult time, we have no further comment. “The corresponding autopsy was carried out, which determined that the cause of death was: Non Traumatic Hemorrhage, caused by pancreatitis,” the statement reads. “At the moment his body is still in facilities of the Forensic Medical Service of Tijuana, waiting to be delivered to his family members who are performing the legal proceedings.” Barnett’s final social media post indicated that he was in Mexico, but did not suggest that he was aware of any issues with his health. “In mexico. Bought myself a sweater,” he captioned the post. “Been accused of appropriation several times. In my head I just gave a lady some money so I ain’t cold. Either way. Swag heavy. Mixtape comin.” On social media, Barnett’s friends and fellow comics have been paying heartfelt tribute to the young up-and-comer. “i am so sad,” tweeted Brooklyn 99 star Chelsea Peretti. “Kevin Barnett was an incredible comedian and writer, contributing to Broad City, the stand-up community and beyond,” Comedy Central tweeted Tuesday. “He’ll be greatly missed.” In addition to his work on Rel, Barnett contributed to numerous television shows and movies, including Broad City, The Carmichael Show and The Heartbreak Kid. A celebration of Barnett’s life hosted by several of his fellow comedians will be held at The Bell House in Brooklyn this evening.

90 Day Fiance weddings don’t always lead to happily ever after. There’s a whole spin-off on that topic, in fact. A new report looks into the question of what exactly happens when a 90 Day Fiance couple gets divorced. And will Larissa Lima’s bloody fight with Colt mean that she’ll be shipped back to Brazil? In the summer of 2018, 90 Day Fiance executive producer Fred Sharp made a boast. “Our batting average on this show is that out of every 25 couples on 90 Day Fiance , we’ve only had three divorces,” he announced. “That’s less than 10% and the current U.S. (divorce) rate is over 40%,” he stated. Three out of twenty-four is, for the record, 12%. Which is higher than 10%. “It’s one of the reasons why people love this show,” Sharp assessed. “It’s so unexpected.” Obviously, Season 6 had two couples file for divorce on the same day, and that barely scratches the surface. That may throw a wrench into the statistics, no matter what the percentages Regardless of that statement’s apparent struggles with simple mathematics, there’s a larger issue. The stakes for 90 Day Fiance couples are higher than they are when both parties are American citizens. Why? Because divorce means more than just financial woes, stress, custody fights, and general upheaval. For international couples, divorce can mean deportation. For example, let’s look at Colt Johnson and Larissa Lima. After their terrifying fight earlier this month, Colt filed for divorce. Even while Larissa’s face was smeared in her own blood, she tearfully confessed to fans that she feared what this would mean. “I’ll be deported…I just scratch him because he was hurt me,” Larissa lamented. “I’m really hurt, but he called the police first.” As sympathetic as Larissa may have been in that video, this was the third time that police were called to address alleged domestic battery for that couple. Do three arrests and a divorce automatically lead to deportation? E! News spoke to immigration attorney Edward Schulman who offered consultation. “With Larissa, the criminal aspect can also, if she’s convicted of it… with domestic violence that can also trigger deportation proceedings,” Schulman acknowledges “So that brings it into a whole different realm,” than what most 90 Day Fiance couples face. However, Schulman notes: “If Larissa can show that she is a victim of domestic violence, then she can self-petition for a green card.” This would involve “stating that she a victim of violence under the VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) act,” he notes. “And,” Shculman says. “She can then get a green card herself without having the sponsorship of Colt.” Like T-visas for sex trafficking victims, the VAWA green card option is designed to give victims an option to escape or report without being deported. That said, the VAWA was allowed to expire in December, and we do not know how that would impact Larissa’s chances. “However, if she is deemed to be the one who is the aggressor who gets convicted of domestic violence,” Schulman continues. He says: “she could be placed in deportation proceedings and possibly deported from the United States.” “If she came into my office,” Shculman suggests. “I would say that if she really feels that she is a battered spouse, she should start gathering proof of the good faith marriage.” Larissa should also “get a psychological evaluation of herself to show that she has suffered trauma.” “If there are police reports, get those, get pictures, all those can prove that not only was it a good faith relationship,” Shculman says. “But that she is a battered spouse.” Schulman would have similar, if less urgent, advice for Colt Johnson. “I would do exactly the same thing that Larissa is doing, which is getting pictures,” Schulman says. “He doesn’t need to get the psychological evaluation obviously,” he continues. “But he would get the police reports and so forth.” These would be necessary “to pursue criminal proceedings against Larissa.” It sounds like Colt has the upper hand in any potential legal fight that they might have. Larissa speculated that Colt may have planned their fight that way, but that is unclear. Not every couple is as toxic as Colt and Larissa. What does it mean if a non-violent couple divorces? “If they haven’t gotten a green card yet, if the divorce happens prior to them being granted the green card,” Schulman begins In that case, he says, “Then they are out of luck for the green card through that spouse.” But there is hope, Schulman notes, “If the first spouse is still willing to issue an affidavit of support.” “Which is saying that they are willing to monetarily support them,” he continues. “Then they can still get a green card either through that spouse or through a different mechanism.” “It’s rarely seen, especially if someone is getting divorced,” Schulman concludes. “They tend not to want to pursue or help that person anymore.” As fans can recall, the most famous incident of exes on the show fighting over deportation was Mohamed Jbali and Danielle Mullins. Danielle, vowing revenge after feeling used, vowed to get Mohamed deported. In particular, she lamented that he had avoided having sex with her, which she felt invalidated their marriage. She also accused him of cheating. Mohamed is still in the US — he is living in Texas. Danielle was unable to annul their marriage, in part because they had consummated their union — precisely once. Whether Mohamed was using her for a green card or not, he got it. View Slideshow: 90 Day Fiance Couples: Are They Still Together?

Dean McDermott is truly aghast at the moment. He’s nauseated. He’s angry. He’s simply at a loss for how strangers can act on the Internet. And while we’ve never exactly been a fan of Tori Spelling’s annoying husband, we must admit here: The guy has a point. Earlier this week, McDermott shared a photo of his wife and their five kids on Instagram, giving followers a look at a cute brood comprised of: Liam, 11, Stella, 10, Hattie, 7, Finn, 6, and Beau, 1. (Seriously, these two have A LOT of kids!) Expecting a few heart emojis at best and a simple lack of popularity on the post at worst, McDermott was subsequently taken aback by some of the comments alongside the photo. “Why do you let your kids get so fat?” one person asked, while another remarked on how they all looked “terrible.” Stunned by the criticism his kids encountered from these trolls, the 52-year old shot back as follows: I am absolutely horrified and disgusted by the comments being left about my children. Body shaming and bullying my children??!! What is wrong with you people??!! As mentioned previously, we’ve been rather critical of both McDermott and Spelling over the years, considering how often they seem to try and profit off their family. Not to mention how irritating it has become to continually track the status of their marriage. Like, are they getting divorced or not ?!? It’s an easy question. But we agree with Dean in this case. Call us crazy, but we think trashing a bunch of toddlers as overweight and/or unattractive is simply over the line and unacceptable. Good on McDermott for calling these losers out! The picture in question (below) was snapped of the family at a screening for the film A Dog’s Way Home, and Dean expounded in his clapback to offer some context about his family’s appearance. “For your information, we went from a long day at school to the movie. And I don’t know any child that is NOT disheveled at the end of the day. “Not to mention that just before this picture was taken, they were wrestling and running around with all the other kids that were at the movie.” He really didn’t need to justify the way everyone looks here, but we understand the instinct. McDermott wasn’t done, either: So I apologize we didn’t get the iron and steamer out to make them perfect for you. Their kids. They’re messy and dirty. That’s what they do. And what’s wrong with shopping at Target??!! Over half of America shops there. The way they grow out of clothing so quickly is astounding. Are we supposed to shop at Gucci?? These are kids folks. Messy stinky little bundles of fun, laughter and love. And this is how he wrapped up: They’re going through different growth phases, and even if our children are on the bigger side. Who cares. They’re happy and healthy and I’m sorry they don’t look like skinny supermodels. People come in all shapes and sizes. So who are you to judge. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for passing such horrible judgement on innocent beautiful children. Shame on you all!!!! Thank you to all the people who came to our defense. You’re all kind compassionate souls. Down with the haters!! Up with love!!

Source: The Washington Post / Getty The fallout and continuing revelations that have come forth in the wake of the recent airing of Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly docu-series continue to mount. Dame Dash once again shared details of when he and Jay-Z’s became strained as a result of the rapper joining forces with Kelly on a joint album with Dash seemingly admitting that he looked the other way. Page Six reports : In a clip from an upcoming episode of Nick Cannon’s “Cannon’s Class,” the Roc-a-Fella Records co-founder admitted he regretted not saying anything when Jay-Z collaborated with Kelly, who wed Dame’s late girlfriend Aaliyah when she was just 15 years old. “I’m human, bro. But I had to look the other way, all these years,” Dash said. “So publicly that man did a record with the n—a that raped my girl, that he liked as well. Right? You understand what I’m saying? But no one said nothing.” Earlier in the clip, he also recalled Aaliyah’s reluctance to talk about her time with Kelly. The singer, who tragically died in a plane crash in 2001 when she was just 22, secretly wed Kelly in 1994, when she was just 15 after the two had collaborated on her debut album “Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number.” Her parents annulled the marriage the next year.
