Amanda Bynes Psychiatric Hold Extended Two Weeks; Parents to Seek Control Today

A judge has granted a two-week extension of Amanda Bynes’ psychiatric hold, while her parents will try to seek a legal conservatorship over her today. If the judge, who held a hearing at the hospital where she’s staying, declined to extend the 72-hour hold, Amanda could’ve walked out last night. He did not, however, after doctors successfully argued that they need an additional two weeks to properly diagnose Amanda Bynes’ severe mental illness . Amanda was represented by her own lawyer, arguing for the extension to be denied. She will most likely fight any bid for a conservatorship, as well. In seeking legal control over their 27-year-old daughter, Bynes’ parents will argue that she suffers from schizophrenia but will not seek  treatment . This is because in her mind, she doesn’t believe she has an illness, therefore the only way to keep her safe is to provide round-the-clock care. Due to the circumstances surrounding her hospitalization and 5150 hold , it’s not a stretch to say she’s in danger and could harm herself or others. Establishing a conservatorship is challenging, however. In order to gain control over her medical, legal and financial affairs, her parents must prove: That Amanda Bynes does not have the ability to provide for her own health on even the most basic levels – food, clothing and shelter.  She cannot make sound financial decisions. They can provide a stable home for her. There are no realistic alternatives. We’ll know in a few hours if they’re successful, but given that she set a random driveway on fire and soaked her dog in gasoline , this might be the best option. Whatever happens, there is hope. Britney Spears was in a similar position 5-6 years ago and this same arrangement brought her back from the brink.

Ireland Baldwin on the Paparazzi: Such Doo Doo Head Dummies!

Like dad, like slightly less angry daughter. In a Twitter rant that would make her famous father proud, Ireland Baldwin went off on annoying members of the press yesterday, saying she hopes “all paparazzi get s–t on by a herd of African elephants.” Hey, at least that slam won’t have anyone calling for her to be fired as a credit card spokesperson . It’s unclear what prompted Ireland’s diatribe, but she continued by addressing these supposed journalists directly: “Get a real job you lame doo doo headed dummies. I’ve met maybe a few paparazzi that have been friendly. The majority of you are d–k bags.” Alec Baldwin, of course, has gotten into numerous confrontations with cameramen over the years. He remains in hot water flipping out on George Stark a few weeks ago and labeling the Daily Mail writer a queen, among other derogatory remarks. Alec has since apologized, but the incident remains in the public conscious. Anderson Cooper, for one, wonder why more folks aren’t more upset over it .

Aaron Hernandez Gun Photo: Surveilance Camera Shows NFL Star With Weapon After Murder

Aaron Hernandez was seen by his own home surveillance cameras holding a large-caliber gun just minutes after the murder he allegedly orchestrated. Prosecutors also found a spent .45 caliber shell casing in a car rented by the athlete matching five bullets found in the body of murder victim Odin Lloyd. Those revelations, along with the surveillance photo of the former Patriots tight end below, were released by Massachusetts investigators Thursday: According to a search warrant affidavit released by the Attleboro District Court: “Aaron Hernandez is observed on the surveillance video moving the item believed to be a firearm between his hands as he passes through the living room.” “Footage shows Aaron Hernandez pass through the living room area of the residence while holding an item, identified by investigators being consistent with a firearm.” The images were taken inside his home and recovered from the 14 cameras Hernandez had throughout his $1.2 million mansion in North Attleboro, Mass. Aaron Hernandez, prosecutors said, tampered with the cameras. Apparently not well enough, as state investigators were able to retrieve images. The pictures helped police build a timeline of the murder of Lloyd, 27, a semi-pro football player who was found less than a mile from Hernandez’s home. He was shot five times with a .45 caliber handgun. Hours before the June 16 slaying, Hernandez texted Lloyd , saying: “I’m coming to grab that tonight. U gon b around I need dat and we could step for a little again.” Hernandez’s surveillance cameras showed him leaving his home at 1:12 a.m. with two other men, who police say are Ernest Wallace, 41, and Carlos Ortiz, 27. Wallace has been charged in connection with Lloyd’s murder and Ortiz was arrested on firearms charges. Hernandez and Wallace pleaded not guilty. It’s unclear if Ortiz has entered a plea, or if Hernandez admitted the shooting , which has been rumored but not confirmed by any official documents. At 2:09 a.m., a security camera at a gas station in Boston showed Hernandez purchasing a cigar and Bubble Yum Cotton Candy flavored gum. Roughly 20 minutes later, the three men were seen picking up Odin Lloyd at his home, according to video recovered from Boston Police cameras. At 3:20 a.m., the silver sedan was captured driving into an industrial park, near Hernandez’s home, where Lloyd was killed, according to a search warrant: “This vehicle entered the crime scene at 3:23 a.m. [June 17]. The time of this activity is consistent with the reports of employees at an adjacent business who heard gunshots.” The surveillance photos of Hernandez back in his home and holding what appears to be a pistol were taken at 3:33 a.m., the police document states. Hernandez was arrested on murder and weapons charges June 26 and remains in solitary confinement at Bristol County Correctional Center in Dartmouth. He is due back in court for a probable cause hearing August 22.

Woman Brags About Dog Killing on Facebook, Gets Arrested for Horrific Crime

Well, this is about as awful as it gets. A St. Louis woman named Adrienne Martin has been arrested after setting fire to a three-year old dog and bragging about the killing on Facebook. The charred shepherd-terrier (named Brownie) was discovered by its owner on July 10, a day after Martin took to Facebook and wrote message that included “I’m on killa mode… #killdogs.com.” It is believed the canine – who was taken to Stray Rescue of St. Louis for medical treatment, but died from organ failure – belonged to Martin’s sister. “When I got the call he passed away, all I could do was cry and then pray for the strength to make sure justice is served,” said Randy Grim , founder of Stray Rescue. “This is one of the saddest and worst cases I have ever dealt with.” After initially denying the crime, Martin admitted it to police. She has a criminal history and was previously charged with endangering the welfare of a child. In this case, Martin faces counts of felony animal abuse and the felony of “knowingly burning” an animal.

Race Matters: Black Missouri Employee Receives Drawing Of Man Hanging From A Tree And Racial Slurs Painted On His Car Following Zimmerman Verdict

Black Missouri Man Taunted With Racism At His Workplace A Missouri man is putting the prejudice actions of his annonymous peers on blast after receiving blatant racist taunting at his workplace following the acquittal of child murdered George Zimmerman. via Huffington Post A Missouri man is leveling allegations against an Ohio-based customer service company, claiming he’s dealing with persistent and explicit acts of racism in the workplace. And now, he’s coming forward with the photos to help his case. DeAndre Martin, who works for Convergys in Arnold, Mo., told St. Louis Fox affiliate KTVI that harassing images began appearing on July 11, when he allegedly received a crude drawing depicting a man hanging from a tree at his desk. Then, on July 15, Martin clocked out and went to his car in the company parking lot, only to find the “n-word,” he said, and an image of a noose spray-painted on his car: “You see the N-word and then a big picture of a noose, and that’s a big deal to me,” Martin told the station. “The first time never should have happened, and the second time was over the top. It’s always like a shock and awe but then suddenly anger sets in.” Martin said he brought the images to the attention of Convergys management. In a statement to KTVI, the company said it is taking the matter seriously, and that it is under investigation. According to the Convergys website, the company “values individual differences” and seeks to “[foster] mutual respect and communication” throughout its workforce. Martin said that the harassment was particularly disappointing in light of “current world events,” possibly alluding to the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. “What perfect timing,” Martin observed. People who agreed with this verdict are actually mad and think they have reason for rage?? GTFOH.

Justice For Trayvon: Rallies Gather In 100 Cities To Demand Federal Civil Rights Charges Against Child Killer George Zimmerman

The entire nation is demanding justice for Trayvon Martin ! Rallies Gather For Trayvon Martin One week after a jury found George Zimmerman not guilty in the shooting death of unarmed teen Trayvon Martin, people gathered nationwide Saturday to press for federal civil rights charges against the former neighborhood watch leader , and to call for changes in the nation’s self-defense laws. Via HuffPo reports: The Florida case has become a flashpoint in separate but converging national debates over self-defense, guns, and race relations. Zimmerman, who successfully claimed that he was protecting himself when he shot Martin, identifies himself as Hispanic. Martin was black. For some attendees, particularly those who are black, the rallies seemed as much about those larger issues as about the verdict. “It’s personal,” said Cincinnati resident Chris Donegan, whose 11-year-old son wore a hoodie to the rally, as Martin did the night he died. “Anybody who is black with kids, Trayvon Martin became our son.” Chants rang out across the rallies. “Justice! Justice! Justice! … Now! Now! Now!” “`We won’t forget.” “No justice! No peace!” Many also sang hymns, prayed and held hands. And plenty of participants carried signs: “Who’s next?” “I am Trayvon Martin.” “Enough Is Enough.” Most rallies began at noon. In New York, hundreds of people – including Martin’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, and music superstars Jay-Z and Beyonce – gathered in the heat . Fulton told the crowd she was determined to fight for societal and legal changes needed to ensure that black youths are no longer viewed with suspicion because of their skin color. “I promise you I’m going to work for your children as well,” she told the crowd. At a morning appearance at Sharpton’s headquarters in Harlem, she implored people to understand that the tragedy involved more than Martin alone. “Today it was my son. Tomorrow it might be yours,” she said. In Atlanta, speakers noted that the rally occurred in the shadows of federal buildings named for two figures who had vastly differing views on civil rights and racial equality: Richard B. Russell was a Georgia governor and U.S. senator elected in the Jim Crow South; Martin Luther King Jr. is the face of African-Americans’ civil rights movement. “What’s so frightening about a black man in a hood?” said the Rev. Raphael Warnock, who now occupies the pulpit at King’s Ebenezer Baptist Church. “History would suggest that we have plenty of data to be worried when we see other folk moving through our neighborhoods in hoods. Some of them have on pinstripe suits – but in their hearts, they’re wearing a hood.” In addition to pushing the Justice Department to investigate civil rights charges against Zimmerman, Sharpton told supporters In New York that he wants to see a rollback of “stand your ground” self-defense laws. “We are trying to change laws so that this never, ever happens again,” Sharpton said. “Stand your ground” laws are on the books in more than 20 states, and they go beyond many older, traditional self-defense statutes. In general, the newer laws eliminate a person’s duty to retreat, if possible, in the face of a serious physical threat. Zimmerman didn’t invoke “stand your ground,” relying instead on a traditional self-defense argument, but the judge included a provision of the law in the jurors’ instructions, allowing them to consider it as a legitimate defense. Trayvon Martin Linked to Hate Crime Victims in Controversial N.Y. Daily News Cover

Less than 48 hours after the controversial George Zimmerman verdict , the N.Y. Daily News ran a powerful front page about the victim, Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman was found not guilty on Saturday in the killing of Martin, a decision by a Florida jury that set off a wave of protests around the country. The Daily News explicitly linked Martin, the slain teen, to martyrs of the civil rights movement ( Emmett Till ), and black victims of hate crimes (James Byrd, Jr.): For the last 17 months, the case has been a lightning rod for gun debates, legal disputes, and perhaps most notably, racial tension across the U.S. Clearly, the Daily News is prepared to stoke those flames. The newspaper’s cover plays on Martin’s hoodie, which became a symbol of his (alleged) racial profiling in the aftermath of his February 2012 slaying. Zimmerman claimed, conversely, that he did not profile Martin – his brother Robert Zimmerman Jr. said race was not a factor in the case – that night. Instead, he cited media bias against the accused, who claimed self-defense, and urged that people respect the jury’s verdict before rushing to judgment. What do you think: Did the jury get it right?
