Sources say the former pair tried to avoid each other out at a West Hollywood bar after his Rolling Stone confession. By Jocelyn Vena Taylor Swift and John Mayer Photo: FilmMagic/WireImage John Mayer and Taylor Swift had the misfortune of being the same place at the same time on Tuesday night in Los Angeles. Making things all the more awkward was the fact that earlier that day, Rolling Stone published an interview with Mayer in which he admitted that Swift left him “really humiliated” when she released her track, “Dear John.” Swift and Mayer had their run-in at West Hollywood hotspot Tower Bar. According to the New York Post , Swift walked into the hangout and noticed Mayer, who was there with a friend. “Taylor very visibly — in front of the entire restaurant — demanded to be moved to the other side,” the eyewitness said. “The bar’s usually an oasis of calm and privacy for celebrities and power players, but this was drama central.” Meanwhile sources tell UsMagazine.com that she’s still reeling from his interview. “I can’t believe he is trying to play the victim!” the source said of Mayer, who reportedly dated Swift in 2009, while they were working on music together. “John was a player and treated her like s–t,” another insider says. “He looked at her as a conquest. Taylor is going to think even less of him now!” While he may feel that using their relationship as fodder for her Speak Now ballad was “cheap songwriting,” when MTV News spoke to Mayer in 2009, he was singing a different, more pleasant, tune about the pop star. “I woke up with the song in my head called ‘Half of My Heart,’ ” he explained, noting that the Battle Studies duet came about via Twitter messages they shared. “And the idea is that it’s this real sort of updated — not that it needs to be updated — sort of Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks thing. “I thought, ‘Well, if this is going to be my love letter to that style of music, who’s going to be the Stevie Nicks in this equation?’ ” he recalled. “And I thought, ‘This Taylor Swift girl is going to be around for a long time.'” So, what is making Mayer so angry these days? Well, on her song, she sings, “Dear John/ I see it all now that you’re gone/ Don’t you think I was too young/ To be messed with/ The girl in the dress/ Cried the whole way home/ I should’ve known.” “I never got an email. I never got a phone call,” he said in the new interview, out this week. “I was really caught off-guard, and it really humiliated me at a time when I’d already been dressed down. I mean, how would you feel if, at the lowest you’ve ever been, someone kicked you even lower?” Related Artists Taylor Swift John Mayer

Because I think back then I would’ve said, ‘Give me two weeks or let me get out and do ‘Ellen’ and let me explain myself.’ It was like, ‘No, idiot. Go away and be 33 and 34 instead of 28 for the fourth year.’ ” He added that he needed a break from the publicity and “had to go home for a minute… I just sort of lost my head for a little while.” With a new album on the horizon, Mayer is also dealing with some lingering vocal-cord issues, which caused him to cancel his spring tour and scale back on album promotion. “They cut this thing out of your throat and then they inject your vocal cords with Botox, which freezes your vocal cords so that this thing can heal without smacking up against the other side. I just need more Botox next time,” he explained. “It’s not a health concern whatsoever, but it has taken me out of singing. I tried to beat it the first time and couldn’t.” Related Artists John Mayer

At intimate New York listening party, singer says new album ‘widened the expectations of what I can do.’ By Jocelyn Vena John Mayer Photo: Mark Sullivan/ Getty Images NEW YORK — Fans and industry folks gathered at the famed Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village on Wednesday night to get an advanced listen to John Mayer ‘s new album, the country-fried, introspective Born and Raised. Before the album even played, Neil Young songs blasted through the hallowed halls of the studio. Given Mayer’s vibe on Born and Raised, which pays homage to the Young sound of the 1970s, it all made sense. When Mayer’s album was eventually put on, it was an easy transition from Young’s jangly guitar and harmonica to Mayer’s own on the album, out Tuesday. The album was recorded at Electric Lady Studios, and the Big Apple is referenced on some tracks, as on many Mayer songs before. “Records are pure reflections,” Mayer told the room. “I’m so proud it’s out. The finish line is so far off [when you’re making the record].” In recent years, Mayer has been through it all. After going TMI crazy in the press in 2010 , he has shied away from media attention. Some of that had to do with the fact that he had surgery on his vocal cords in late 2011. In fact, he still needs to go through another surgery to correct the problem. But he said he plans to record a new album this summer, regardless. “If you’re lucky, you get to make giant evolutionary steps from your first record, so I was able to do that. And you guys, I think, you’re able to come along with that step and be psyched about that evolution and I’m excited to even go further now and start coming up with melodies you haven’t heard yet,” he said, referencing his “Your Body Is a Wonderland” days on his 2001 debut, Room for Squares. During the chat he explained that every song on this album is his favorite, for perhaps the first time in his career, adding that they “widened the expectations of what I can do.” Additionally, after having to cancel his 2012 spring trek , Mayer confirmed he want to hit the road in spring 2013 “and have two records to pull from. … I think I can cheat time a little bit because as you know, I try to cheat time all the time. So I think we can all catch up so that a year from now there’s two records. It’ll be like Born and Raised part two because there’s certain things I want to keep doing.” Related Artists John Mayer
John Mayer has been out of commission lately. Not that we’re complaining. Turns out neither is he. In his first interview in over a year, the singer-songwriter told Ellen DeGeneres yesterday that his infamous Playboy and Rolling Stone interviews in 2010 made him reflect on his life and become an adult. “I did a couple of really dumb interviews and it woke me up,” he said. “I lost my head for a little while. I lost touch and I didn’t want to ask for directions.” John Mayer on Ellen John said he needed to act 34 “instead of 28 for the fifth year” and escape to small-town Montana where he recorded his new album, Born and Raised . The experience of living and recording out there “rocketed” him into adulthood, with Mayer saying he needed “a few years just to figure it out.” As for Born and Raised , out next week, it’s his “honest and cohesive” album yet, with John saying that leaving the spotlight after relationships with ” sexual napalm ” herself Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston was the best thing he ever did. “I live in Montana, in the middle of nowhere,” he said. “It’s really excellent… you get to a certain age where you prepare for happiness, but you sometimes don’t remember to get happy. I remembered how to get happy.” Sounds remarkably un- douchebag -like, doesn’t it? Who is this Dances With Wolves-like man and what has he done with John Mayer?
Wow, John Mayer was remarkably contrite during his Ellen interview this week. The John Mayer who reflects wisely on his past seems like a totally different human being then the one who was embarrassing himself non-stop a few years ago. Ugh, does that mean we have to reevaluate our opinion of him? “It was a Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : VH1’s Today In Music Discovery Date : 15/05/2012 06:18 Number of articles : 2

SMH at this guy . John Mayer is still doing damage control over all that dumb isht he said TWO YEARS AGO: Following two explosive interviews with Playboy and Rolling Stone in 2010, where he likened his chemistry with Jessica Simpson to “sexual napalm” and blamed his split with Jennifer Aniston on his frequent tweeting, Mayer felt the need to escape. “It was a very strange time and it sort of rocketed me into adulthood. It was a violent crash into being an adult,” Mayer, 34, said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Tuesday. “For a couple of years it was just figuring it all out ,and I’m glad I actually stayed out of the spotlight. Because I think back then I would of said, ‘Give me two weeks or let me get out and do Ellen and let me explain myself.’ It was like, ‘No, idiot. Go away and be 33 and 34 instead of 28 for the fourth year.” Mayer said he “had to go home for a minute” to heal from the backlash in 2010. “The plan that originally gets you out of high school and your hometown, in front of people, that plan was over. I had done it. I just sort of lost my head for a little while.” The “Shadow Days” singer — whose new album, Born and Raised, will be released May 22 — was forced to cancel his 21-city tour in March in order to remove a granuloma just above his vocal cord. (He first had surgery to remove the enlarged nodule in October 2011.) “It’s not a health concern whatsoever, but it has taken me out of singing,” Mayer told host Ellen DeGeneres, 54. “I tried to beat it the first time and couldn’t.” Mayer then explained how the medical procedure works. “They cut this thing out of your throat and then they inject your vocal cords with Botox, which freezes your vocal cords so that this thing can heal without smacking up against the other side,” he said. “I just need more Botox next time.” SMH @ them mentioning him fouling up Jen Aniston and Jessica Simpson but leaving out the n-word and the fact that he said he has a racist peen that would only let him close to black women that look like Kerry Washington or Holly Robinson Peete. Karma is a muhfugga though. Prolly why his voice is all messed up now! Source Continue reading →
