Dr. Conrad Murray to Serve House Arrest if Convicted in Michael Jackson Manslaughter Case?

Perhaps it’s a little too early to start talking about what happens if Dr. Conrad Murray gets convicted of felony involuntary manslaughter – he has yet to present his defense – but it does not look good for the physician right now. Between the Michael Jackson autopsy photo , the 911 call and most of all, the various holes in his defense , he’ll have to pull off a miracle to be acquitted. So what happens when and if he gets convicted? As for how much time Murray would serve, officials tell TMZ that Murray would be jailed for half the actual sentence. So four years as opposed to two. Moreover, because of severe overcrowding, inmates are eligible for house arrest, based on their prior criminal history, and their risk to the community. Murray has a clean record and, as one law enforcement official put it, “it’s not like he’s going to walk around with a bottle of Propofol and kill people.” So if the jail is filled to the max, the Sheriff could quickly put him on house arrest – if not right away, shortly into his sentence – ankle monitor style. Again, this is all premature. The jury could still find him not guilty on all counts. But right now, we could bet heavily against that possibility occurring. [Photo: WENN.com]

That was the date Ruben Studdard ‘s Soulful opened at #1 on the Billboard albums chart. And somewhat incredibly, it’s also the last time a debut disc from an “American Idol” champion accomplished the feat. Sure, there have been some near-misses along the way, but since Studdard, none have been able to bow at #1, a streak that spanned some 2,859 days (or 4,116,960 minutes, in case you were counting). It’s also a streak that officially came to an end on Wednesday (October 12), with the rather eye-opening #1 debut by “Idol” season 10 champion Scotty McCreery, whose Clear As Day sold nearly 197,000 copies to take the top spot. It’s the highest first-week number for an “American Idol” winner since David Cook sold almost 280,000 copies of his self-titled debut in 2008 and, given the recent lack of chart success from “Idol” champs, it’s an even more impressive feat. Because, while some “Idol” also-rans (Clay Aiken, Chris Daughtry, Adam Lambert, etc) have managed to move units, the contemporary crop of champions have suffered poor first-week sales. Thanks to the support of the country music crowd, McCreery has managed to buck that trend. But where, exactly, do Clear As Day ‘s first-week numbers rank among the debuts by other “American Idol” winners? We’ve crunched the figures, along with the chart positions, below:

When he got his start in 1984, LL Cool J remembers how the genre was marginalized in the media, but Tuesday night’s 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards are a definite sign of the times. “When we first started the music, they didn’t even play it on the radio in the daytime,” BET’s I Am Hip Hop Icon Award winner told MTV News on the show’s black carpet. “Hip-hop was two hours at night or an hour at night on the weekends, and that was it. So to go from an hour or two hours at night to entire award shows and whole generations of people whose lives have been changed just because they’re involved with the music, that’s a big thing.” The awards shows started off with a bang. Young Jeezy opened with his new single “F.A.M.E.” and gave way to T.I. on the song’s final verse, marking the first television appearance for the King of the South since his prison release in September. Lil Wayne — who was nominated for an astounding 18 awards — took home five, while Busta Rhymes accepted four on behalf of his absent “Look at Me Now” collaborator Chris Brown. Nicki Minaj was named MVP of the Year, while Wiz Khalifa took home the Rookie of the Year award. Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy won CD of the Year, and Jay-Z was crowned Hustler of the Year. The show’s live performances were something to marvel at, as DMX and Swizz Beatz surprised viewers with a medley of classics. Big Sean and Wiz Khalifa rocked spirited sets, while Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group performed their singles “That Way” and “Ima Boss.” Rap icon Heavy D closed out the show, but the real highlights were the rap ciphers . B.o.B, Busta Rhymes, Ludacris, Tech N9ne, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem and Rick Ross all participated in the rap segments, while DJ Premier curated the rhyme showcase. “It makes me feel good to be a person that contributed, that helped make this happen,” LL said. Sean “Diddy ” Combs has saved the Boys & Girls Club of Harlem. The hip hop mogul isn’t being mentioned in the media for his ignorant antics this week. He is giving back to the community with a contribution that will save the organization. According to XXL Magazine, Diddy’s donation was right on time. There had been some changes to the Club’s budget for operations due to federal, state and private funding. Boys and Girls Club of Harlem board member, Willie C.
