Conrad Murray’s New Rx Problem

Filed under: Michael Jackson , Conrad Murray , Celebrity Justice Dr. Conrad Murray has more medical issues …TMZ has learned.

Dr. Conrad Murray Facing Civil, Criminal Woes

As we previously reported, Dr. Conrad Murray is the subject of a wrongful death lawsuit, in addition to criminal charges (manslaughter) regarding Michael Jackson. The embattled former physician of the late icon has thus retained a civil lawyer, Charles Peckham, who handles medical board cases and wrongful death lawsuits. His criminal defense is likely based on these claims about Jackson . His civil defense is likely to fall along similar lines, but there is the matter of who’s paying for it. The lawyer has been in touch with Dr. Murray’s malpractice insurance carrier, which has revealed a particularly tricky situation, even by Conrad Murray standards. Apparently, Dr. Murray had a malpractice policy issued in Texas that covered his medical practices in Texas and Nevada … but of course, MJ died in California . Murray did not have a medical practice in California, which is a prerequisite for his malpractice coverage, even though he treated Jackson almost exclusively there. So Dr. Murray’s defense is that he first saw Michael Jackson as a Nevada patient and what he did for him in L.A. was merely an extension of the Nevada treatment. Whether that holds up under examination by the legal system remains to be seen, but it’s crucial because malpractice policy covers civil litigation, but not criminal. In the event the doctor is sued for wrongful death, and Joe Jackson will do the honors, Murray expects the policy would cover attorney’s fees and any judgment. We suspect the insurance company will argue otherwise. Murray is expected to argue that Michael killed himself with Propofol and the doctor is not responsible.

Doctor Removed Live Ammo In Afghan Soldier’s Head

huffingtonpost A live round of ammunition was removed by a U.S. military doctor from an Afghan National Army soldier’s head at Bagram Air Field last month. A 14.5 millimeter unexploded ammo more than 2 inches long was removed from the scalp of an Afghan National Army soldier at the Bagram Air Field hospital last month. When the young Afghan soldier arrived at the base, doctors thought it was shrapnel or the spent end of some sort of round, said Lt. Col. Anthony Terreri, a radiologist deployed from Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. But as he reviewed a CAT scan of the soldier, he realized it was a much bigger problem, according to an Air Force news release this week on the case. He immediately went to inform neurosurgeon Maj. John Bini, also of Lackland. Bini had the operating room evacuated; the surrounding hallways were secured, and he and anesthesiologist, Maj. Jeffrey Rengel, put on body armor for the surgery. Bini and Rengel were joined in the operating room by a member of a bomb disposal team. And after Bini removed the round from the patient’s head, the bomb technicians took it away. Bini said that while there have been similar cases of unexploded ordnance being removed from patients, this was the first such case he knows of in the Afghanistan war, which started in late 2001. In the past 50 years of modern warfare, there have been fewer than 50 cases of this type, he said. The patient, who officials did not identify by name, is continuing to improve, the Air Force statement said. Dr. Conrad Murray Not Taking Plea Deal

Dr. Conrad Murray must feel pretty good about his defense strategy of blaming the victim , because dude is not interested in any plea bargain, thankyouverymuch . Michael Jackson’s embattled personal physician, who faces involuntary manslaughter charges stemming from the icon’s death last June, is not looking for a deal. Sources say Dr. Murray is adamant that he did nothing wrong and that Michael Jackson killed himself . Thus, he will not plead to manslaughter or a lesser offense. The doc’s defense team plans to contend that Jackson did himself in by self-injecting a fatal dose of Propofol into his bloodstream while Murray had left the room. Will Dr. Conrad Murray beat the rap? Murray, insiders report, is ” completely confident ” that he will be found not guilty on all charges, despite the inconsistencies in his story and rumors of a cover-up. He is less certain that medical boards in Texas, Nevada and California will reach a similar result, though a judge did not pull his California medical license Monday. Murray intends to fight to keep practicing, as he needs the cash money to pay for his defense and child support, but realizes the medical boards will go after him. Also going after him with a wrongful death lawsuit? Joe Jackson . But Conrad shouldn’t take that personally, since that guy will sue anything that comes along.

Michael Jackson Doctor Conrad Murray Keeps His Medical License For Now

A motion to revoke his license was shelved until June 14. By Shawn Adler Defense attorney John Michael Flanagan and Dr. Conrad Murray on Monday Photo: David McNew/AFP/Getty Images While embattled physician Conrad Murray is still fighting his involuntary-manslaughter charge in the death of pop star Michael Jackson, for now, he gets to keep his medical license. A motion by the California State Attorney General’s Office on behalf of the State Medical Board to revoke Conrad’s license was put on hold Monday afternoon (April 5) by Los Angeles Judge Michael Pastor, who shelved the matter until a procedural hearing scheduled for June 14, according to The Associated Press. Pastor, who reportedly wrote a letter of recommendation for the judgeship candidacy of prosecutor David Walgreen, was assigned the high-profile case earlier Monday by Supervising Superior Court Judge Peter Espinoza. Many members of Jackson’s family were in attendance, including father Joe, mother Kathleen, sister Janet and brothers Randy and Jermaine. The hearing, which amounted to little more than legal housecleaning, stood in stark contrast to the somewhat circus atmosphere outside the courthouse. According to USA Today, large numbers of fans showed up, many holding signs and screaming, some even singing “We Are the World.” Murray, out on $75,000 bail, is charged with involuntary manslaughter in Jackson’s 2009 death of cardiac arrest. It is alleged that while serving as Jackson’s physician, Murray provided the singer with a lethal cocktail of sedatives, including dangerous amounts of the anesthetic propofol. Murray previously pleaded not guilty to all charges, which carry a penalty of up to four years in prison. Related Photos Michael Jackson: A Life In Photos Related Artists Michael Jackson
