The young rapper struck gold when he dropped his rugged video for “Trap Goin’ Ham.” Rapping with a Corona in his hand, he showed women in his neighborhood smoking Newports and dudes rolling blunts. It was uncut, real and raw, and it gave you a flashback to that unflinching peak of ATL when some of the greats, such as Outkast and T.I., showed their lives in Georgia. Since then, Pill has become a favorite of hip-hop bloggers with his mixtapes 4180: The Prescription, 4075: The Refill and 1140: The Overdose. “It’s surreal, man. When you start off, you hope you can make it to this place,” Pill said of his growing popularity. ” 4180 was my first solo project ever. I went from zero to 60.” With that trilogy done, Pill is working on a brand-new tape, sans the medicinal theme, with DJ Holiday and the Empire. His debut LP should be dropping sometime in the fourth quarter or top of 2011. ” The Medicine, I’m working on it. I wanna make sure I don’t rush it. Once you get the deal, you feel like, ‘I gotta drop the album,’ ” Pill said. “I wanna make sure everything is new, everything is fresh. I got music for it. But I just wanna make sure all the feelings I go through, all the experiences, I wanna incorporate everything. Look forward to The Medicine. Not too many features. I don’t wanna crowd my first album with a bunch of features and make it a compilation CD. I want it to be more of me giving the people who I am and letting them see where I come from and hear my testimony.” Although the album is still being recorded, Pill said he has a keeper. It’s one of his most personal projects yet. ” ‘A Song for My Momma,’ ” Pill said when asked about a must-hear on his LP. “My momma passed away. I went in the studio, and I had been so stressed that week. That night, I was out clubbing, and I got a little tipsy. I was in New York. When I got back, I burst into tears. It caught up with me. I was like, ‘Damn, I’m actually doing what I told my momma I was gonna do.’ It was like, ‘Man, I gotta make her a song.’ I was supposed to make her a song, and I been running from it. I knew it was gonna take a lot of emotion and pain to do it. So when I got to the studio, I was boo-hooing still. My pages [that I write my rhymes on] was wet up, but I got through it.” Pill and 19 other up-and-coming MCs are in the running to become MTV News’ “Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010” — and the winner will be decided by you! Pill to live past 100 years old 2 years away

PEOPLE will be given pills to live healthily beyond 100 within TWO YEARS, a top professor revealed yesterday. The drugs – a spin-off from research into age-related illnesses such as Alzheimer's – are already being developed. Professor Nir Barzilai, one of the world's leading experts on ageing, said as he joined fellow scientists at a London conference: “Pharmaceutical companies are developing these drugs now. “They will probably be available for testing from 2012.” The astonishing breakthrough follows intensive research into what makes cells die – and why some people dodge major illnesses such as cancer, diabetes and dementia to live beyond 100 still fit as a fiddle. The New York professor's own team at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine has pinpointed genetic variants that let people live to a “ripe old age”. Those blessed with anti-ageing genes tend not to get seriously ill towards the end of their lives – but die suddenly. Taylor Momsen Says Pretty Reckless Album Is ‘Sex, Drugs And Religion’

By James Montgomery Taylor Momsen Photo: MTV News EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey — Taylor Momsen is quickly learning that making the transition from TV star to snarling rock princess isn’t as easy as she’d imagined. In addition to having to win over fickle audiences on this summer’s Warped Tour — the type of crowds that don’t exactly take kindly to “actor-slash-musicians” — and make it clear to “Gossip Girl” fans that her band, the Pretty Reckless, isn’t just another cookie-cutter pop project, she’s already having to undo the damage from a quote she gave last month to Entertainment Weekly, in which she stated: “I don’t wanna be Courtney Love — I wanna be Kurt Cobain.” It hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing, to be honest. So really, at this point, all she wants to do is get the Pretty Reckless’ debut album in stores — and then, well, she’ll just let the chips fall where they may. “I want the record out so people can hear it. I’m not a pop artist. It’s absolutely a rock record, and I get that people probably aren’t expecting that, but, buy the record and check it out,” Momsen told MTV News on Saturday at the Bamboozle festival. “If you like loud music, you’ll like it. Hopefully. It’s very loud. If you’re not scared of guitars screaming at you and a 16-year-old girl yelling at you, then you’ll like the record.” According to Momsen, the yet-untitled album (which she co-wrote with Pretty Reckless guitarist Ben Phillips) will finally see the light of day “sometime this summer.” And, to be quite honest, that date can’t come soon enough — because she really wants to stop talking about what it will sound like and let the songs speak for themselves. “It’s a record about life. It focuses on all the negatives — and the positives — of life, but it’s not ‘Go to a club and dance.’ It’s not an escape record,” she said. “It’s absolutely a record to confront your problems and get over them. … It’s death, love, rock and roll, sex, drugs and religion; it covers all bases of life. It’s not a concept record, unless you consider life a concept.” Momsen said some of her favorite tracks on the album include “Century Gone,” “My Medicine,” “Light Me Up” and “Since You’re Gone,” not to mention the first single, “Make Me Wanna Die” (which was released on the “Kick-Ass” soundtrack). The Reckless have even shot a video for the song, directed by Meiert Avis, who’s worked with everyone from U2 to Paramore. And according to Momsen, it’s a pretty, uh, “cheery” affair. “It’s for the song ‘Make Me Wanna Die,’ so to try and emulate kind of an epic-y song that’s almost like a film, it was a challenge to come up with a treatment,” she said. “So I guess we sort of decided to make it like a death march. You can’t live anymore in this world, and you’re on your way to your death, and you’re seeing everything you’re passing, and stripping yourself of your belongings on your way to your grave.” Momsen said the video will be released before the Reckless hit the road on the Warped Tour, which kicks off June 25 in Carson, California. And, yes, she’s looking forward to facing the crowds — and changing them from cynics into believers. If she doesn’t pass out from the heat, that is. “I’ll remember not to wear a leather jacket onstage next time,” she laughed. “I learned that today [at the Bamboozle], because it was so hot that I almost puked onstage.” Are you excited to hear the Pretty Reckless album? Churchill Downs Results for Kentucky Derby 2010 Contenders

It’s more compelling than the Oaks, the marquee race for 3-year-old fillies. That’s because Rachel Alexandra is running. The 2009 Horse of the Year needs to win the $400,000 Grade II La Troienne at 1 1/16 miles and, if you ask me, she needs to win it big. Rachel began her career with a loss in the New Orleans Handicap on March 13 at Fair Grounds but, it wasn’t her fault. Her connections rushed her to that race, hoping that her talent would win out over her lack of conditioning. They were hoping she would then advance to the $5 million bonanza called the Oaklawn Handicap in Arkansas against the great Zenyatta. Rachel Alexandra, in a file shot, in her stall at Churchill Downs last fall. Of course, Rachel lost in New Orleans and the dream matchup never happened. The horse that beat Rachel, Zardana, is here today to try and beat her again. Steve Asmussen, Rachel’s trainer, says his 4-year-old filly is in much better shape for this race. He expects her for run like Rachel ran last year when she was whipping off eight straight wins and beating colts three times. The New Orelans race was her first since winning the Woodward Labor Day weekend at Saratoga. After that, she rested for the winter and didn’t get back into training until late January. “We talked about how hard she ran last year and giving her the time and letting her stay at Saratoga,” Asmussen said. “At every stage, we were noticing something. Now, she is four and she is a lot different than last year. She is heavier, which makes her stronger but, ,she also has to do more to be fit because there is more of her to do it with. I see a bigger, stronger mare but she hasn’t proven to be as fast yet as she was last year. We’re hoping to see that Friday.” Rachel is 3-5 on the morning line in the six-horse field and she will carry high-weight of 124, the most she has ever had to carry. Zardana, who is trained by Zenyatta’s John Shirreffs, will carry 120. If Rachel wins, there is no guarantee the next stop will be against Zenyatta, the only female to ever win the Breeders’ Cup Classic. But it would be a step towards that. First, though, she has to get through this. “Zardana is like a pit bull, she is tough and tries very hard,” Shirreffs said. When asked if he would like to see a race between Rachel and Zenyatta, Shirreffs shrugged. “We will see how things develop,” he said. “I am certainly a Rachel fan and I think she is brilliant. The way Rachel has been training, you would expect her to show up.” Asmussen said he is not looking behind Friday’s sixth race, which has a post time of 1:26 (when have you ever seen a horse of Rachel’s star power run at 1:26 in the afternoon?). I expect Rachel will win, maybe not like she did last year when she won the Oaks by a record 20 1/4 lengths, but a convincing win. Then, maybe everyone will start talking Zenyatta-Rachel again for sometime down the road. If we don’t see a big performance, then we’ll never be talking about it again. But even though it was a ladies’ night at Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards show in Las Vegas, with big wins for Academy Lady Antebellum , Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood, Swift went 0-for-5. She did, however, give a buzzy performance that paid homage to her close connection to her fans. The singer started out standing inside a round cage, which hung low over the audience at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. As she kicked into the second verse of the inspirational ballad “Change,” she rose up above the screaming masses and floated in the air across the arena, touching down in the middle of the crowd and dramatically ripping off her floor-length white dress to reveal black jeans, a black tank top and black boots as she smacked high fives and marched across the floor to the main stage. There she was joined by the Tritones, a University of California San Diego a cappella group she reportedly spotted on YouTube after the act uploaded their version of “You Belong With Me.” It was a typical move by the fan-friendly Swift, who skipped talking to the press on the orange carpet before Sunday’s show, but ran out to sign autographs, shake hands and take pictures with the fans behind the barricades outside the arena just 15 minutes before the show was to begin. The rousing, gospel-tinged performance ended with Swift holding a long note on the word “hallelujah,” spinning wildly in circles, flipping her hair side-to-side and then stage-diving into the outstretched arms of some handlers in the crowd. She was introduced by the odd-man-out at the show, rapper and “NCIS: Los Angeles” star LL Cool J, who said he was just on hand to support his country homegirl. “I got a call and they asked me if I wanted to introduce Taylor Swift, have some fun, check out a different genre,” LL explained before hitting the stage. “And I said, ‘You know what, I’ll be out of place, and it’ll be strange, but I’ve never done it before in my whole career.’ I’m a fan of some of the music. I thought would just be cool to do something different. No pressure. You know, I don’t have to pretend anything.
