Jill Duggar & Derick Dillard Refund Missionary Donations to Angry Fans

Back in June,  Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard announced that they would be leaving the US to perform missionary work in El Salvador. The couple collected donations from fans and gave the impression they would be living in Central America for the foreseeable future. Just a few weeks after they embarked, however, Jill and Derick were back in Arkansas , seemingly for good. It was later revealed that the Dillards were rejected as missionaries due to their lack of qualifications. It seems the main problem was that the couple never even attempted to complete the Bible study and other religious-themed education courses that were required of them. Naturally, fans who had made donations were upset to learn that they had essentially helped to fund a three-week vacation for Jill and Derick. Many to took to social media to complain of being swindled by the Dillards. Now, Radar Online is reporting that in an effort to avoid another scandal, Jill and Derick have offered refunds to the fans who donated to their bogus missionary journey. Sources say the fans have been contacted privately by reps for the Duggars. They were reportedly then given the option of having the money returned to them or passed on as a charitable donation. We’re hoping most were smart enough to ask for a check. Knowing these two, the “charity” that would receive their donation might very well be the New Pool Table For the Dillards’ Basement Fund. Race Matters: Study Shows Black Women More Likely To Receive Improper Breast Cancer Care Than Whites

Black Women More Likely To Receive Improper Breast Cancer Care Than Whites Racial disparities in medical care, with black patients often receiving substandard care in comparison with their white counterparts, but this is nothing new… Via The Root : However, in what NBC News is describing as the largest study to look at the disparities in breast-cancer tratement in the U.S. (just in time for Pinktober), it is all but confirmed that black women are indeed more likely to experience a worse type of breast cancer and often do not even receive the same standard of care as white women. According to the researchers, black women are more likely than white women to get the wrong treatment for breast cancer to begin with, are often diagnosed later and also have bigger tumors. Native American women are also subjected to the same type of inferior treatment and are also at a higher risk for more aggressive cancer. “We found that there is a consistent pattern of late diagnosis and not receiving recommended treatment for some racial and ethnic groups across all breast-cancer subtypes,” one researcher, Lu Chen, from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle told NBC News. The team studied data on more than 100,000 American women listed on a National Cancer Institute cancer registry, according to NBC. “Women in several racial/ethnic groups are more likely to be diagnosed with more advanced stage breast cancer,” Chen’s team wrote in their report, according to NBC News. “African-American and American Indian/Alaska Native women in particular had the highest risk of being diagnosed with stage 4 triple-negative breast cancer.” The study was published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention. Black women, the team noted, had a 40 to 70 percent higher risk of having stage 4 cancer than white women. Native American women were almost four times as likely to have stage 4 triple-negative cancer, which is incredibly hard to treat. Discuss.

What Iyanla Vanzant Learned From Her Suicide Attempt

Iyanla Vanzant is all about teaching people to “rebuild, restructure and redefine” their lives. The 62-year-old spiritual advisor learned this lesson over 40 years ago. She was 21 years old at the time and had just given birth to her third child. Still suffering from post-partum depression, the young mother decided to end her life. “I took a bunch of pills. I was in the kitchen, on the floor, and I could feel myself losing consciousness,” Vanzant says in a clip from OWN’s upcoming seven-night series, “Belief.”… “In that moment, I saw what I believe to be the Divine Mother. She said to me, ‘Do you really want to die?’ And I said, ‘No. I just don’t want to hurt anymore.’”… She was admitted into a psychiatric hospital where she was treated for depression. There, she learned to sort through her thoughts and emotions in a healthy way. [ MadameNoire ] “Be Wrong Stron”: Don Cheadle Kills It As Miles Davis In First Clip From Miles Ahead Last year, Don Cheadle launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to create a biopic covering Miles Davis’s storied life and career. Thankfully, the House of Lies star was successful, and his team started filming last July with Cheadle in front, as well as behind the camera as the director. Fast forward more than a year later and the finished product, Miles Ahead, will make its debut this weekend at the New York Film Festival. And while there’s no official release date for Miles Ahead in theaters as of yet, the buzz surrounding the film is massive… A clip from Miles Ahead has been released in preparation for Sunday’s festival premiere. In it, Davis can be seen making magic in the studio, telling the musicians if they’re going to mess up, “be wrong strong” before taking over on the trumpet. [ MadameNoire ] John Ridley Bringing Rodney King & L.A. Riots To The Big Screen It has been approximately 23 years since the L.A. Riots gripped the entire nation in the wake of four police officers getting off scot-free for the brutal–and videotaped–beating of Rodney King… Broad Green Pictures and Imagine Entertainment, famously owned by Hollywood giants Ron Howard and Brian Glazer, are joining forces to present the L.A. Riots in dramatized format to audiences and they have called for 12 Years a Slave Oscar winner John Ridley to man the director’s chair. Ridley, who currently oversees his successful ABC creation, American Crime, last directed in 2013 for Andre 3000 in the Jimi Hendrix biopic, All Is by My Side and the still untitled film’s financiers couldn’t be any more thrilled to have him onboard. Leah Messer, Miranda Patterson GO AT IT on Teen Mom 2 Reunion!

Corey Simms’ wife Miranda Patterson has had it up to here with his ex-wife Leah Messer, and tensions boiled over on last night’s Teen Mom 2 reunion. Leah Messer vs Corey Simms: Teen Mom 2 Reunion Special The pregnant Patterson exploded at her subtitle-prone husband’s troubled ex-wife, and for her part, Leah accused Corey of cheating on Miranda . With whom? Well, the implication was clear. Backing up for a moment, Simms and Patterson have been battling hard for custody of his five-year-old twin daughters with Messer, Ali and Aleeah. It’s a situation that’s taken a toll on all three. Given Leah’s countless personal problems – Messer spent part of the summer in rehab for a prescription pill problem – Simms has had reason to worry. In a heated conversation on Teen Mom 2 Season 6 Episode 14 , Leah confronted Miranda about never talking to her when they exchange the kids. “What do you need me to get out of the truck for? To ask you how your day was Leah? How was your day?” Patterson asks her rival sarcastically. Safe to say they are not friends. “The attitude you give me, that’s not okay,” Messer responds, calmly (for the moment). “That’s not the kind of relationship I ever wanted with you.” View Slideshow: Leah Messer Bad Parenting Excuse Hall of Fame “You disrespect me!” Patterson shouted back at Leah, getting more fired up. “I really don’t need the stress, okay? I don’t need your bulls–t stress!” Dr. Drew Pinsky, on hand to moderate this, asked Patterson why she seems so “hostile,” and what Messer ever did to warrant this extreme anger. “We are fed up!” she says, adding: “There’s a lot.” Hmm. Could she be referring to rumors that Simms banged Messer in his truck – RECENTLY – during a meeting to “discuss their daughters”? If you watch Teen Mom 2 online , that specific rumor does not come up explicitly, though Leah does accuse Corey of “hitting her up.” Patterson’s intense reaction toward Leah, and the tension between the two throughout the season, certainly won’t dispel these rumors. “He’s admitted the affair to Miranda,” an insider told OK! Magazine, stating an undisputed fact whether there was any cheating or not: “It’s all a huge mess.”

Kim Kardashian: Ready to End Feud With Amber Rose?

The epic feud between Kim Kardashian and Amber Rose dates back to 2012 , when Kim began dating Kanye West, not long after the rapper parted ways with Amber. It was a cold war of sorts for the first few years, with the ladies quietly disliking each other and reportedly talking trash to friends. Things heated up in February, when Kanye trashed Amber in a radio interview, claiming that he needed to take “30 showers” after he dated her, just so that Kim would give him the time of day.  It was an ugly comment and things predictably escalated from there, with both sides taking public shots at one another. It all came to a head over the weekend when Amber hosted a “slut walk” event in Los Angeles. At one point, she took the stage and tearfully described the feeling of being publicly shamed by a man that she had once loved. Now, Radar Online reports that Kim was moved by the speech and hopes to bury the hatchet with Amber. “Kim really thought that this was a huge step forward because Amber did not use her platform to slam her,” said one insider. Of course, this is Kim we’re talking about, so there was a PR consideration, as well: “Now that the Kardashians see how much a huge fan base Amber Rose has, they have all kind of changed their tune,” says the source.  “They know that Amber knows so much about them and their family and it is just at the point now where the Kardashians are ready to call a truce.” There you have it. If you want to end a feud with Kim Kardashian, just tell your side of the story in heartfelt fashion – and make sure you have enough fans that she feels threatened. Andrew Caldwell: I Dated Kordell Stewart! Porsha Williams Knows He’s Gay Too!

Viral video star Andrew Caldwell alleges that he is a one-time homosexual lover of former NFL and Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kordell Stewart. For years, Kordell Stewart gay rumors surfaced off and on, even (or especially) in the midst of his marriage to RHOA star Porsha Williams. Now Caldwell, who made headlines with a viral video in which he declared that he had been “delivered” from his homosexuality, says the two dated. “I don’t like mens no more,” Caldwell famously declared, adding that “I like women women women!” (Caldwell has since admitted that he’s still gay.) Now he’s making news with a different proclamation. “ I dated Kordell ,” he said in an interview with The ShakeUP Morning Show, adding that their affair was short-lived … but he made the most of it! “I had everything that Porsha got… I had bags, purses, cars. I’m in a Jaguar right now. Honey, did you see that Jaguar over there?” Caldwell explained how he and Kordell allegedly met. “We was at a bar,” he says of himself and presumably some of his friends. “We was at a restaurant and I was like, ‘Oh my God, that’s Kordell.’ “They was like, ‘Yeah, he’s a football player.’ I was like, ‘Mmm… I like football players… I dated other football players too, I dated some of the Rams.” Caldwell also admitted that he knew Kordell was married to Williams at the time, but isn’t all that sympathetic, adding: “I think she is a gold digger.” “Girl, you know your husband was gay.” Again, rumors that Porsha was Kordell’s beard were commonplace during their marriage, but seemed like nonsense tabloid fodder … until now. Jenelle Evans: Hospitalized With Head Injury!

Jenelle Evans was reportedly rushed to the hospital this weekend after she fell in her driveway and hit her head.  Radar Online has photos of Jenelle’s injuries . Sources say the 23-year-old reality star required several stitches and was not released from the hospital until the following morning. The injury was apparently a result of flooding that affected Jenelle’s home state of South Carolina as a result of Hurricane Joaquin. “Jenelle was going out to dinner with her boyfriend David and friend Tori, and when she got home, everything was flooded on her street and she slipped and fell on the driveway getting out of the car,” says one insider. The source says Jenelle is “in pain and tired,” but is recovering at home. Given Jenelle’s history of drug problems , many will wonder what sort of state she was in at the time of her fall. Prior to the accident, Evans was out on the town with her new boyfriend David Eason , but there’s no word on if they were drinking. Jenelle has yet to speak publicly on the incident. Of course, compared to some of the drama she’s endured, a little head injury is small potatoes. Watch Teen Mom online to relive some of Jenelle’s wildest moments.
