Weezer Rehearse Long And Hard For ‘RJ Berger’ Cameo

‘We’re going to put the music thing aside for a couple years,’ drummer Pat Wilson jokes after shooting scenes for MTV comedy. By James Montgomery Weezer’s Brian Bell Photo: MTV News At this point in their career, Weezer have the whole acting thing down pat. So much so that they don’t even need to see a script. Of course, that’s mainly because they usually don’t have any lines. ” ‘Keep Fishin’ ‘ was probably our acting debut, but we didn’t speak any lines in it,” guitarist Brian Bell said of their music video with the Muppets. “Actually, in [the video for] ‘Buddy Holly,’ I said, ‘Thanks, Al,’ ” drummer/guitarist Pat Wilson laughed. “And we’ve done all kinds of stuff, like ‘Beverly Hills, 90210,’ some ‘Melrose Place,’ old-school, but legit, really.” So basically, they’re old pros, and it’s probably why they weren’t sweating their cameo on a season-two episode of MTV’s “The Hard Times of RJ Berger,” which they filmed on Monday in Los Angeles. Either that or the fact that all they had to do that day was get up onstage and play a couple of songs — Pinkerton fave “El Scorcho” and current Hurley single “Hang On” — which, really, doesn’t require all that much in the way of acting. But, truth be told, their “Hard Times” guest appearance means a little more to the guys, because of a rather interesting connection between the band and the show. “Well, they named the high school ‘Pinkerton.’ The creators of the show, I guess, were fans of ours, and called the high school Pinkerton,” Bell explained. “And when we found out about that, it caught our interest about the show in general … and now we’re here playing.” And really, Weezer are liking this gig so much that they’re seriously considering switching careers. After all, being in a band is hard work. Acting isn’t. “It feels great to be on an actual show,” Wilson said. “We’re pretty much going to put the music thing aside for a couple years and go with this.” Do you think Weezer should go Hollywood or stick to making music? You Are One Step Closer to a Dallas Remake

TNT is finally moving forward with that Dallas reboot you were (not really) hoping for. As announced last December, Cane creator Cynthia Cidre is penning the project, which will center on the sons of bitter rivals JR and Bobby Ewing. Filming will begin shortly on the pilot, which is said to guest-star original cast members Larry Hagman, Linda Gray, and Patrick Duffy. No word yet on who will portray the next generation Ewings, or if this will suffer from the same problems as similarly schizophrenic reboots like 90210 and Melrose Place . [ Vulture ]

Blake Lively or Katie Cassidy: Who’d You Rather …

When Melrose Place’s ratings tanked so badly that the CW couldn’t justify renewing it, the network did the next best thing and retained Katie Cassidy. She’s been cast on Gossip Girl this fall in a recurring role. Katie will play a love interest for Nate (Chace Crawford), who just split with Serena (Blake Lively). It’s hard to trade up from that, but he may have! Might Cassidy stick around and become a permanent addition? Some fans are already asking for it, but she hasn’t even debuted yet, so we’ll see. The bigger question: which Gossip Girl beauty you’d rather … you know. You do know, right? (NOTE: We don’t mean rather have as your daughter). Who would you rather …

Amy Locane Charged with Vehicular Homicide

Amy Locane is in serious trouble with the law. The actress, who appeared on the original Melrose Place and played a small role in the 2002 movie Secretary , crashed into the side of another car in Montgomery, New Jersey on Sunday night, killing the woman in the passenger’s seat of that vehicle. The second driver involved was taken to a nearby hospital, while Locane was arrested on the spot for DUI. The New Jersey Star-Ledger reports the actress admitted to drinking several glasses of wine prior to the accident. Incredibly, Locane rear-ended another car before getting into this major crash. She fled that scene, but was followed by a driver who phoned police and said Locane was “swerving and knocking down several mailboxes.” A mother of two, Locane has been charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and third-degree assault by auto. She could face 10 years in prison if convicted.

‘Melrose Place’ Actress Amy Locane Charged In Drunk-Driving Death

She was also involved in a minor hit-and-run before the fatal crash. By Kelley L. Carter Amy Locane Photo: Amanda Edwards/ Getty Images Amy Locane’s real life is playing out like a scene in the original “Melrose Place,” the 1990s TV series she co-starred in. On Sunday night, the 38-year-old actress was charged with killing someone in a drunk-driving accident. The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office says Locane ran into the passenger side of another car in Montgomery, New Jersey, killing a woman who was sitting in the front seat, TMZ reports. The car’s driver has serious injuries and was flown to a nearby hospital; Locane, who also had credits in “Airheads” and “Cry-Baby,” was arrested at the scene and charged with a DUI. She was taken to a different hospital for treatment. The Newark Star-Ledger reports that the actress confessed to police that she’d consumed several glasses of wine before getting behind the wheel. The prosecutor’s office says Locane was involved in a minor hit-and-run accident right before the fatal crash. According to police, she had rear-ended a car a few miles away from the fatal crash, and when the driver of the other car tried to call police, the actress got back into her SUV and drove off, “swerving and knocking down several mailboxes,” the witness told police. She is charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and third-degree assault by auto. Officers said she smelled of alcohol, and they reported that the actress’ eyes were bloodshot and glassy and that her speech was slurred. If convicted, she faces five to 10 years in prison. Bail hasn’t been set.

Gossip Girl Adds Melrose Place Ex-Pat Katie Cassidy

Fresh from the debacle that was the reboot of Melrose Place , Katie Cassidy is moving from L.A. hi-jinks to Upper East Side escandalos, and joining the cast of Gossip Girl as a Columbia student and love interest for fellow matriculant Chase Crawford. According to Entertainment Weekly ‘s source, her character “will make trouble,” but “is not what she appears,” and will “wear outfits that show off her boobs.” Actually that last one isn’t a direct quote, but more like an educated guess.
