About that shocking Glee casting announcement… Following weeks of message board activity and outrage from fans, Glee producer Brad Falchuck cleared up his show’s plans for Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer today, telling a packed Hall H at Comic-Con: “Here’s the exact thing: [Rachel, Kurt and Finn] are seniors, so they’re graduating, but because they’re graduating doesn’t mean they’re leaving the show,” he said. “If you have Lea Michele under contract, you don’t say, ‘We’re gonna let you go.’ They are not done with the show after this season.” Not all is sunny on the casting front, though: Falchuck did confirm that Chord Overstreet will not return . At all. He was offered a 10-episode deal, but chose to pursue other options instead. “We wanted him back because we like Chord personally and had some good stories planned for him and with Mercedes,” the co-creator said. “He decided he would have opportunities elsewhere that he would like to pursue, and we can’t force him to work, so we wished him well.”
For the first time since he caused an uproar in Nashville, and then proceeded to make a round of apologies and appearances , Tracy Morgan took to the stage on Saturday night for a stand-up routine. He appeared on stage at Caroline’s in NYC and immediately told the audience he was gonna be “mellow.” But that’s far from the style that has made the 30 Rock star famous, of course, as went on deliver jokes about masturbation, ejaculation, the female anatomy and other topics that had the crowd in stitches. About 45 minutes in, Morgan said: “You’re all sitting here waiting for me say something about the controversy, right? I’m 42, man, and now all of a sudden I’m homophobic?” He then joked: “My father was the lead singer in the Village People. I would sing the ‘Y.M.C.A.’ the loudest. I was sitting right there when he wrote the song.” Morgan shied away from any overt references to homosexuality, but he did re-tell a different joke to which Kevin Rodgers – the Facebook poster who originally called attention to the comedian’s rant earlier this month, and who hugged it out with Tracy during a recent press confrence – objected a few weeks ago. Regarding the joy of making women choke during oral sex, he riffed: “You gotta make that mascara run.” Witnesses say Morgan was mostly himself during the set – still unpredictable, still raunchy – and concluded the routine with the following message: “Gay, straight… I don’t care. As long as you’re happy.” [Photo: WENN.com]
Despite reports of their imminent replacement at the end of the next season’s filming, the Jersey Shore cast is not going anywhere just yet. “I think we’re irreplaceable,” Paul “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio said Friday. At an appearance at the Palms in Vegas, he adds, “I don’t think they could replace us. They’d just be people trying to be like us, anyway.” On Friday, MTV denied the reports, with a spokesman they have “no plans to recast the show,” which recently finished filming Season 4 in Italy. “It’s more of the guys getting into the drama,” Pauly said of the gang’s adventures in the old country. “We’re used to it with the girls, but this season it’s a lot of the guys … I think it was as much drama as there was in Miami.” “Yeah, we got ourselves into some serious crap, but somehow we always end up OK. There was some serious stuff going on there.” Season 4 begins August 4. The filming of Jersey Shore Season 5 is underway in Jersey. Will there be another season beyond that? At least one cast member is game. “I’ll do as many Jersey Shore’s as we can,” Pauly D said , “but I know everything doesn’t last forever.” [Photo: WENN.com]
Okay, so you can’t see her adorable little face. But Mariah Carey teased fans on Twitter Sunday with a fabulous snapshot of her baby daughter Monroe. “This is baby Monroe saying ‘no pictures dahhhhling’ at 7+1/2 weeks,” Carey wrote beneath a photo of her little girl’s hand, raised as if she were trying to shield her glamorous self from a pack of would-be paparazzi. “Oh dear.” Pretty funny: Perhaps Monroe’s dad, Nick Cannon, wasn’t kidding when he described Monroe and her twin brother Moroccan, born on their anniversary in April. “My son is laid back like me,” he said. “My daughter’s a diva like her mom! When my daughter wants something, she’ll let you know immediately.” Hey, it’s hard to blame the little gal. Sometimes when the celebrity gossip media gets too close, you gotta set up boundaries early.
Calling all Goddesses: a newly-single Warlock has hit the market. Insiders confirm to TMZ that Natalie Kenly recently walked out on Charlie Sheen, officially leaving the actor’s Goddess cupboard as bare as his job prospects. It sounds like Brooke Mueller might take Sheen back , though. Sheen didn’t respond to the split well, sources say , demanding Kenly return the Mercedes he bought her and telling pals such a break-up is “not a common thing for the Masheen!” The actor has remained relatively quiet over the past couple months, putting his Los Angeles home up for sale and, reportedly, entering into negotiations for a new sitcom . Look for him and Hugh Hefner to hit the town together any day now. [Photo: WENN.com]
The first lady meets with 76 young female leaders committed to helping women shape their countries’ future. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Lola Ogunnaike First Lady Michelle Obama, along with daughters Sasha and Malia, reads “The Cat In The Hat” to children in Johannesburg, South Africa Photo: White House Photo by Samantha Appleton All this week, first lady Michelle Obama has been touring Africa with her mother and daughters as part of her ongoing work to engage and empower young people at home and abroad. Journalist Lola Ogunnaike has been covering the entire trip for BET as part of an upcoming special, “Impact on Africa: On a Mission With the First Lady.” On Wednesday evening, Ogunnaike called up MTV News to give us insight and exclusive information about the experience. These are her words. I have to say, first lady Michelle Obama has the energy of a Duracell bunny. She’s been running since she touched down in South Africa. We’ve been to the Regina Mundi church, which is the largest Catholic church in all of South Africa. We’ve been to the Nelson Mandela Foundation. She laid a wreath at the Hector Peterson Museum. Hector Peterson was the first person to be killed at the 1976 Soweto uprising in South Africa. She visited the first lady of South Africa. She’s gone to the U.S. Embassy. She went to a community garden and the Rosa Parks library. She danced and played with preschoolers and read them “Cat in the Hat.” It’s just been a whirlwind. And everywhere we’ve gone, people have been chanting her name. The kids have been singing, “Mrs. Obama, Mrs. Obama!” The outpouring has been incredible. There’s a palpable energy in the air. The Apartheid Museum was the last stop on the first lady’s tour on Tuesday. We watched her and her family stroll through the place. She spent the better part of an hour quietly taking in everything that surrounded her. One of the places that really seemed to intrigue the family was a Nelson Mandela wing, and in there is the red Mercedes that was given to him, boxing gloves, pictures, video testimonials. She was there with her entire family, including her mother, her nephew and niece, and her two daughters. It was an emotional and educational visit for the whole family. The first lady also met with 76 young female leaders from around Sub-Saharan Africa. When you walked into the room, you saw these girls lined up on risers. They looked like an eclectic choral group. They were from places like Zimbabwe, Botswana, South Africa — anywhere you can imagine. And the one thing that linked them was their commitment to making sure that women are empowered and women are going to shape the destiny of the continent. They were so poised and so elegant, but when Michelle Obama walked in, they just lost it! They were so excited. They started clapping and singing. One of the most significant things the first lady said to those ladies was, “I want my daughters to grow up to be just like you.” It was a simple and powerful statement. But to me it said that she is wholly invested in these women and wholly invested in this idea that these young women will not only change the future of this continent but also have the potential to change the future of the world. And she wants her daughters to emulate them. Related Videos First Lady Michelle Obama Visits Africa
As the New Directions raise cash, we hold out hope for a bigger return next week. By Jim Cantiello Gwyneth Paltrow on “Glee” on Tuesday night Photo: FOX Our month-long wait for a new “Glee” episode ended this week, but we’ll have to wait a little longer for the full-fledged return of Klaine. The styling of Mercedes’ previous A class effort was – generously speaking – forgettable. If this new A Class BlueEFFICIENCY concept is an accurate look at next year’s A200, though, the 2013 A will go straight to the head of the class with radical curves, sweeping surface, and sporting proportions that Mercedes’ press materials call… Read More… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Gas 2.0 Discovery Date : 08/04/2011 14:08 Number of articles : 2
