Lil Wayne Blogs About LeBron James Joining The Miami Heat

‘I believe that this Miami team will be explosive,’ Wayne says in a post on WeezyThanxYou.com. By Mawuse Ziegbe Lil Wayne Photo: Alexander Tamargo/ Getty Images Lil Wayne ‘s yearlong bid at Rikers hasn’t dulled the superstar MC’s love of sports. In a letter to fans posted last week on his website, WeezyThanxYou.com, Wayne revealed that he keeps up with ESPN as part of his daily routine. Now, like millions of basketball fans, LeBron James’ move to the Miami Heat has excited the incarcerated rapper. “Oh LeBron! The recent move by the Miami Heat confirms that we will someday soon have that good ole basketball back,” Wayne wrote in a blog posted Tuesday (July 20) title “The Tricks of the Trade.” With the Heat’s newly acquired superstar talent, Weezy wrote that he expects the team to bring fire to the court. “I believe that this Miami team will be explosive as intended,” Wayne continued. “Anything less than an NBA championship title will be uncivilized.” The MC also described some ways the Florida team might work the court: “Well with [Dwyane] Wade at the 1 and LeBron at the 2 or vice versa even, or Mario Chalmers at the 1, Wade at the 2, and Bron at the 3 … Wow! Not to mention that I didn’t mention [Chris] Bosh, who can live at the 4 or 5. Zone defense will be a must against this team,” Weezy wrote. “That’s 3 players on the court that commands a double team. Just imagine those guys on a fast break, the defender back [pedaling] … Wade can take it to the hole or throw it up and you know Bron. Bron is going to get it … or dish it back to a trailing Chris Bosh who will definitely finish at the rim … again, wow!” The Young Money star also analyzed a potential face-off between the Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers for the NBA championship. “Hey, what if [former Lakers coach and current Heat President] Pat Riley returns to the sidelines and it ends up being the Lakers vs. Heat in the finals? Riley vs. [current Lakers coach Phil] Jackson! Epic! [Pau] Gasol on [Chris] Bosh, Ron-Ron [Artest] on Bron-Bron, and Kobe [Bryant] on Wade … wow!” In addition to following LeBron’s power moves, the rapper has apparently been keeping tabs on the NBA as a whole and examined the strengths and weaknesses of other teams in the league. “Also, beware of the [Chicago] Bulls. [Carlos] Boozer will fit in well because they’re similar to Utah [Jazz] in many ways. A nice guard surrounded by the shooters,” Weezy wrote. “The Bulls led the league in the rebounds last season and I’m sure they will again with Boozer and [Joakim] Noah.” The MC also dished on the potential performance of the New York Knicks and the Orlando Magic. “If they can stay healthy, then expect [Amar’e Stoudemire] and [Anthony] Randolph to be beasts in the paint,” Wayne wrote, adding, “I’m not sure about Orlando in the East this upcoming season. I mean [Chris] Duhon isn’t exactly a good move but it has potential.” The post suggests that in addition to reclaiming his spot in the hip-hop game, the star is also looking forward to a stirring b-ball season. “I can’t wait to see how teams stack up next season when those other big name players hit the market,” Wayne wrote, capping off the post simply with, “Good ole basketball.” Are you glad Wayne is still keeping up with the sports world? LeBron James’ Move To Miami Heat Prompts Reactions From Hip-Hop Community

Ludacris, Soulja Boy, Diddy, Fabolous and others take to Twitter over King James’ career choice. By Mawuse Ziegbe LeBron James announces he will play for the Miami Heat on Thursday Photo: Larry Busacca/Getty Images Basketball fans around the country reacted strongly when LeBron James finally dropped the news last night that he was signing with the Miami Heat after frenzied speculation about the NBA MVP’s next move. Hip-hop’s basketball fans took to Twitter in droves to vent, lament and crack jokes about King James’ decision. Teflon Don Rick Ross tweeted “Miami the spotlight of the world!!!!!” which was later re-tweeted by fellow Miami MC Trina. “Pretty Boy Swag” rapper Soulja Boy Tell’em offered a simple Twitter message about the ‘Bron hubbub, tweeting “Lebron James Swag.” Even glitzy ’90s rapper MC Hammer enthusiastically chimed in with “LeBron signs with the HEAT !!!!” Diddy , like many New Yorkers, had been hoping James would come to Gotham and wrote on his Twitter page, “Lebron will sign with the knicks! Yea I said it!” But an hour later, the party-startin’ mogul seemed at peace with ‘Bron’s finale choice and tweeted, “ok i can handle Miami!!! its my second home!!!! lets go!!!!!!” Queens MC Q-Tip approved of James’ choice and typed on Friday (July 9), “I think @kingjames made the right decision.” Rumors had been swirling that James would possibly go to a Chicago, New York or New Jersey team, so not everyone was geeked about ‘Bron heading down south. “Miami???!!!! nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” ?uestlove of the Roots said in an impassioned tweet. Some MCs offered their sympathies to fans of James’ former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers. D.C. MC Wale , who called the MVP’s choice earlier in the night, tweeting, “Miami…I bet,” followed up his prediction an hour later with a comforting note for Cleveland: “Seriously feel bad for cavs fans.” Ludacris offered something a little stronger for Cavs fans , tweeting, “Conjure [cognac] is on deck in Cleveland just in case anybody feel like gettin f—ed up tonight.” Others typed their thoughts about how James’ move would affect the Heat. Dallas rapper Dorrough tweeted , “LeBron James and DeWayne Wade is Like Jordan and Kobe on the same team. I dont think its gon work.” ATL songstress Ciara tweeted “Looks [like] Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets next year!” likely referencing a possible showdown between Miami and Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony. As fans eagerly anticipated James’ announcement last night, one artist took the opportunity to mine some humor out of the situation. Brooklyn MC Fabolous , who is known for his punchy one-liners, started the trending topic #JustOfferedLebron, which resulted in tweets like, “The Nets #JustOfferedLebron a Best of Both Worlds 3 album wit JayZ if he signs,” and “BP #JustOfferedLebron free gas for life if he continues to take all the attention off the oil spill.” Related Photos LeBron James’ New Neighbors In Miami LeBron James’ Big Night

Dude Suing LeBron is Full of it, Brother Says

LeBron James sucks. There’s simply no other way to sum up the actions of a guy who held the NBA hostage during a self-glorifying free agency tour, only to really screw over Cleveland and join the Miami Heat in a gratuitous television “event” last night. Fortunately for James, the guy suing him claiming to be his dad is also getting flack today, from his own brother no less. Not surprisingly, his story has holes. The younger brother of Leicester Bryce Stovell , “Junior” Stovell, says “something’s a little fishy” about Leicester’s allegations that he fathered LeBron James. Leicester filed a lawsuit against LeBron and his mother Gloria James, claiming they tampered with DNA evidence that could prove he’s the NBA star’s daddy. What would this guy gain from being LeBron’s dad? It’s unclear . In any case, “Junior” says that his family has been “joking” about the situation ever since Leicester suggested he was the dad a few years ago, but notes that Leicester “believes in his own mind” that his story of impregnating Gloria is legitimate. As for why “Junior” thinks the story is fishy … he tells TMZ that “Leicester never mentioned anything about LeBron being his son until LeBron became the king.” Go figure. LeBron’s camp has strongly rejected Leicester’s claim, calling him a “money grubber” and saying his lawsuit was timed perfectly to steal attention from James. What do you think of LeBron’s decision to bolt for Miami?
