Iran’s Leader Compares US Police Violence To Unrest In Middle East, Tweets “#BlackLivesMatter”

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Compares Police Unrest To Middle East Conflict Via CNN : In a series of blunt tweets over the holiday weekend, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei entered America’s debate on race and police violence — comparing unrest in states like New York and Missouri to conflicts in the Middle East. On Sunday he tweeted: “#Jesus endured sufferings to oppose tyrants who had put humans in hell in this world& the hereafter while he backed the oppressed. #Ferguson” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the country’s chief political and religious authority, acknowledged the role of Jesus in Islamic theology and compared the biblical prophet’s struggle to that of black people in the United States. On Christmas Eve, the Ayatollah lumped the struggle of Palestinians in the Gaza strip with protests in Ferguson, Missouri, where black teenager Michael Brown was shot dead by police, and called on members of all three monotheistic faiths to stand-up against oppression. The unverified Twitter account, widely accepted as the mouthpiece of the Ayatollah’s social media campaign, often posts diatribes against the West and Israel to its more than 91,000 followers. Interesting…what do you think of his comments?

Michael Brown: Racist Song Performed at Retired LAPD Officer’s Party Sparks Outcry, Investigation

Los Angeles police are investigating this video of a song poking fun at the killing of black teenager Michael Brown by a white policeman, reports indicate. The racist parody of “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown,” performed at a retired officer’s party at the Glendale, Calif., Elks Lodge, went viral earlier this week … Michael Brown Racist Song Parody The song, captured on video and posted on celebrity gossip and news site TMZ, is pretty stunning considering the fallout from Brown’s death this year. Anger over police killings of black men has intensified following the cases of Brown and Eric Garner . No charges were filed against police in either case. In an apparent revenge attack Saturdya, Ismaaiyl Brinsley murdered two officers in Brooklyn. With tragedies and tension at all time highs, this video? It’s certainly not going to help. LAPD Chief Charlie Beck said: “Like many of you, I find it offensive & absurd. It does not reflect the values of the #LAPD.” “I have directed our Professional Standards Bureau to look into this,” he added, to help “determine if any active department employees were involved.” The lyrics, heard plain as day, are as follows: Michael Brown learned a lesson about a messin’ With a badass policeman And he’s bad, bad Michael Brown Baddest thug in the whole damn town Badder than old King Kong Meaner than a junkyard dog Two men took to fightin’ And Michael punched in through the door And Michael looked like some old Swiss cheese His brain was splattered on the floor And he’s dead, dead Michael Brown Deadest man in the whole damn town His whole life’s long gone Deader than a roadkill dog The song was performed by Gary Fishell, an Elks member, at a party organized by a retired LAPD officer there on December 15, local media reported. A trustee for the lodge, in a statement to LA Weekly, apologized for the song, which he called inappropriate and said does not reflect the group’s values. A lawyer for Fishell, a former private investigator, said, “He’s a goofball who writes funny songs,” adding that he now realizes it was “off color and in poor taste.” Retired officer Joe Myers, who hosted the dinner after a charity golf tournament, spoke to TMZ about the song , saying, “How can I dictate what he [Fishell sings]?” “This is America. We can say what we want. This is a free America.” A trustee for the Lodge says Myers’ dinner was not an official Elks Club event, but since he is a member he had a right to hold a dinner there for his charity. The trustee says many people were upset, though (including one person who was so upset that no one objected that they filmed and leaked the clip): “It’s deplorable and inappropriate and the Lodge will be taking disciplinary action against [Fishell] and possibly the people who organized this event.” We imagine this isn’t the last we’ll hear of this story, as Brown’s shooting in Ferguson, Mo., this summer continues to resonate throughout the nation … Celebrities React to Events in Ferguson, Missouri 1. You CANNOT be f***ing serious According to TMZ reports : The Glendale, CA Elks Lodge is investigating a shocking incident that went down in the club a week ago Monday, when a performer sang a song celebrating the death of Michael Brown … for an audience that included a number of retired and current cops … and TMZ has the video. The song was a parody of “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown.” Gary Fishell, the performer and a member of the Lodge, changed the lyrics, which include: Michael Brown learned a lesson about a messin’ With a badass policeman And he’s bad, bad Michael Brown Baddest thug in the whole damn town Badder than old King Kong Meaner than a junkyard dog Two men took to fightin’ And Michael punched in through the door And Michael looked like some old Swiss cheese His brain was splattered on the floor And he’s dead, dead Michael Brown Deadest man in the whole damn town His whole life’s long gone Deader than a roadkill dog The event was the capper for a charity golf event, thrown by retired LAPD Officer Joe Myers, a 32 year veteran who left the force in 2007. We’re told 50-60 people attended the dinner, and about half were cops, most of whom were retired. The others were civilians. Singer Gary Fishell is a P.I. who once worked as an investigator for the Federal Government. His lawyer tells TMZ, Fishell now realizes the song was “off color and in poor taste.” The lawyer adds, “He’s a goofball who writes funny songs.” We asked why Fishell would sing this in a room full of cops, and the lawyer replied, “He thought the room would get a kick out of it.” 2014 doesn’t have any more f***s left to give. Ismaaiyl Brinsley: Brooklyn Cop Killer Identified

The man who allegedly killed two NYPD officers in Brooklyn this afternoon has been identified. Witnesses say Ismaaiyl Brinsley, 28, approached the officers’ patrol car and shot each man several times. Reportedly, Brinsley then turned the gun on himself and took his own life. The gunman is to believed to have been motivated by the killings of Michael Brown and Eric Garner . Earlier today, Brinsley posted a series of threatening messages on his Instagram page: “I’m Putting Wings on Pigs Today,” Brinsley wrote. “They take 1 of ours…Let’s take 2 of theirs. #ShootThe Police #RIPEricGarner #RIPMikeBrown This May Be My Final Post.” The shooting was described by one law enforcement official as “an execution.” “The perp came out of the houses, walked up behind the car and lit them up,” a high-ranking officer told the New York Daily News. After what one witness described as “pumping bullets” into the car, Brinsley fled to a nearby subway station, where he shot himself in the head. Gand jury decisions not to indict the officers responsible for the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner have led to protests in metropolitan centers across the country. Several police officers have reported being assaulted during demonstrations, but this is the first time that anger over the deaths of Brown and Garner has resulted in murder.
