Sanja Star Harrison, 14, was killed Monday night when a bullet ripped through the ceiling of her bedroom and struck her in the head, police said. Her family told Channel 2 Action News that Harrison was 8 months pregnant. The baby also died, the news station reported. Police reportedly believe the shot was fired from an upstairs apartment. Harrison’s brother says that his little sister was a kind person and “she didn’t deserve it.” “Investigators are working to determine if the shooting was accidental and at this time there has been no arrest made,” police spokesman Officer Jarius Daugherty said in a statement. Source: Scott Olson / Getty The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are warning US consumers to not eat romaine lettuce as it may be contaminated with E. coli. Thirty-two people, including 12 who have been hospitalized have been infected with the outbreak strain in 11 stages. One had a life threatening form of kidney failure. People have gotten sick in California, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio as well as Wisconsin. The CDC is reporting that if you have any romaine lettuce at home, you should throw it away, even if you have eaten some and didn’t get sick like other people. The warning goes for all brands and types of romaine lettuce considering that no one distributor or source has been determined. Illnesses in the current outbreak started in October. It is not related to the romaine lettuce outbreak from this past summer . According to the CDC , symptoms of E. coli infection, which usually begin about three or four days after consuming the bacteria, can include “watery or bloody diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramps, nausea and vomiting.” It normally takes people to see their health improve within five to seven days but this strain of E. coli has caused more severe illnesses.
Getty Images Manager Drives 3 Hours To Deliver Pizza To A Cancer Patient Get ready for your allergies to start acting up with this one… A restaurant manager went more than just the extra mile on Tuesday when drove for more than three hours straight to deliver two pizzas to a couple who couldn’t keep their reservation because they received some devastating news. Julie and Rich Morgan have been going to Steve’s Pizza in Battle Creek, Michigan for 25 years. “Rich frequently critiqued other pizza as ‘good but, it’s no Steve’s,’” Julie wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday, following the incident. The couple was planning a weekend getaway to Michigan, recently, for her 56th birthday to “see the leaves and the lakeshore,” but the priority was going for a meal at Steve’s, where they made a reservation. “Instead, I took Rich to the ER where he landed in ICU for five days, and where we learned the news that his valiant cancer battle was coming to an end,” Julie wrote. “Rich is home under hospice care and we are enjoying every minute reminiscing and visiting with family and friends.” Without telling the couple, Julie’s father contacted Steve’s Pizza and spoke to the manager to explain the situation, asking if they would send well-wishes. Instead the manager, Dalton Shaffer, went above and beyond and asked what kind of pizza the couple wanted, telling them he would make the three-hour drive to Indianapolis to deliver it for them. “While Rich and I slept, at 2:30 AM, Dalton rolled into our driveway, left the car running and delivered two extra special pizzas to my waiting family,” Julie wrote. “He told them we were in his prayers, and offered to help in any way he could.” Julie referred to the gesture as “an epic pizza delivery and the unbelievable kindness of a stranger.” “My dad offered to put him up in a hotel, but he refused and immediately left for the return trip home because he had to work the next day. I am beyond overwhelmed and humbled. … Dalton brought our family so much joy — and the best pizza in the world — at a really difficult time.”
Getty Images Construction workers were on site of a former funeral home in Michigan when they shockingly found 11 infant corpses hidden in the ceiling. According to the Detroit News , eight of the baby bodies were stored in a cardboard box and three were found in separate garbage bags that were stuffed into one casket. Detective Lt. Brian Bowser told reporters that state officials had received an anonymous letter in the mail Friday, informing them that the infant bodies were hidden inside. “The letter detailed the existence of human remains inside the funeral home. They were met here by the current owner who admitted them entry. They went to the location described in the letter and located a couple boxes. One box and one small casket. They were kind of hidden away. It’s just the callousness of the operators, the owners, the employees of the funeral home.” DPD Lt. Detective Brian Bowser says they recovered bodies of 11 stillborns improperly stowed in a “hidden false ceiling between the first and second floor of the funeral home” after an anonymous letter was sent to LARA Friday. @detroitnews pic.twitter.com/unqxCanety — Sarah Rahal (@SarahRahal_) October 13, 2018 However, Jameca LaJoyce Boone, the manager of Cantrell Funeral Home, told reporters, “I didn’t know anything about that,” she told The Detroit News. “I really don’t know how that could even have happened. I don’t know how long that’s been going on there… it’s very unfortunate and they definitely need to find out who put them there. State officials shut down the funeral home back in April after inspectors found decomposing remains and “deplorable conditions. The Wayne County medical examiner’s office will notify families of the deceased babies immediately.
On April 12, 14-year old Brennan Walker missed his bus to school and decided to ask a neighbor for help with directions. According to reports , Walker decided to walk up to the front porch of 53-year old Jeffrey Zeigler ’s home in Rochester Hills, Michigan and footage shows the teen scurrying away a few moments later after Zeigler came out with a shotgun and fired two shots at him. Zeigler, who is currently on trial for the incident, said in court that he wanted to fire more up in the air, but it was slippery. He added that it wasn’t until he watched the surveillance video that he realized the person who came to his porch was a 14-year-old boy. However, his wife’s testimony had a slightly different tone: “I saw a black person standing at my door and I screamed at him and I asked him what he was doing there. He tells me that he is going to school and at that point he approaches the door, forward momentum, comes forward, opens the screen door, and puts his hand on the door handle again, as though he’s coming into my house.” Zeigler, a retired firefighter, was charged with assault with intent to murder, which could lead to life in prison.

V oting has long been a passionate subject for Michelle Obama . A new video sheds light on exactly why the former first lady is a strong crusader for voting rights—and why she is encouraging people to exercise their power at the polls. Obama shared a powerful story about watching her father vote as a child in the clip, which is part of her “When We All Vote” campaign, an initiative that she co-chairs in an effort to spur voter registration ahead of the midterm elections. Before “When We All Vote” hits the road for a week of action from Sept. 22-29, the ex-FLOTUS had another Black excellence moment that she hopes will inspire people to head to the ballot box in November. We’re hosting #WhenWeAllVote Week of Action events across the country in September. Find an event near you or host your own in your community: https://t.co/92nuLHTsuZ https://t.co/ryswooZhVs — When We All Vote (@WhenWeAllVote) August 21, 2018 Her story underscored her father’s passion and dedication for voting despite being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. “I grew up in a household where voting was something you did all the time,” Obama said in the video. “And my father, who had multiple sclerosis, I remember going to the polling place with him and how much effort it took for him to park his car, to get his crutches, to walk into the church basement in our local neighborhood where he voted. And to stand there, holding himself up, making sure he cast his ballot. I remember my father doing this exercise every single election.” Seeing her dad vote made Obama think about what a “special responsibility” it was — a right that African-American groups fought for during the civil rights era. The clip makes clear that voting was not only a right for Obama, but a rite of passage. She encourages voting in the presidential election and at the local level. Watch her video below. Source: queen aretha franklin death / CS Aretha Franklin shockingly left no will behind … which is surprising given her circumstances. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the singer died “intestate” — meaning she had no will at the time of death. It’s especially surprising given that she has a special needs son named Clarence who needs financial and other forms of support for his entire life. Aretha was ill for several years, but apparently did not see the end coming … or possibly a will was low on the priority list. According to Michigan law, Aretha’s 4 kids will share equally in her estate. READ MORE
J ust when you thought it couldn’t get any lower, a Michigan cop tased an unarmed Black man while he was holding his two-month old baby. The video of the incident has gone viral and now the police have released a statement. See Also: President Donald Trump’s Voter Fraud Claims Could Lead To More Voter Suppression Police showed up to a home in Westland, Michigan where people were having a barbecue on Friday night, according ABC 7 in Detroit. “We were just barbecuing, and we saw the cops come up,” said one eyewitness and neighbor who recorded the footage. “They came up and asked us who was fighting. We were like, ‘You got the wrong house.’” Ray Brown, the man who was tased, got agitated with the police coming on his property and demanding answers for something no one knew anything about, according to other witnesses. Audio from the video indicated that an officer told Brown he was going to be arrested and to “get the baby out of here” as police tried to take the baby from him. Brown responded defiantly: “That’s my child. He can be exactly where he’s at. Give me my child. Give me my child.” Brown is then tased. Watch the disturbing video below: Oh my God. Police taser an unarmed, non-violent Black man who was not even wanted for a crime WHILE HE IS HOLDING HIS INFANT BABY. This is right outside of Detroit in Westland City. A caller called 911 saying people were loud. The caller was nowhere to be found when police came. pic.twitter.com/PkCgivd089 — Shaun King (@shaunking) August 20, 2018 “I had to catch the baby. I was in the street talking with the cops. I had to come over,” Nichole Skidmore, the mother to two-month-old Christopher, told ABC 7. “The taser is on this side of him, and the baby is over here. As soon as they start tasing him the baby flew out of his hands and I had to grab him, or he would have fell.” Brown was ultimately arrested and was placed in custody. In a statement, police claimed officers went to Brown’s house because of a “report that a male subject had physically assaulted a female and that he had damaged her vehicle.” The statement about the unconfirmed assault continued: “Westland Police Officers made contact with the man involved in the incident. It was determined that the man was going to be arrested for the assault, the damaged property and also for a number of outstanding arrest warrants.” However, police were denying tasing Brown even though it’s on video. “The video shows that during the deployment the child was also in the hands of the mother,” the statement continued. “The child was not injured during the arrest. The child was examined by the Westland EMT and turned over to the mother.” The statement also indicated that the “investigation is only in the beginning phase.” The video clearly showed Brown being tased with his baby; eyewitnesses were screaming in the moment he was tased while holding the baby; the child’s mother said the baby flew out of Brown’s hands while he was being tased; yet the cops still managed to spit out this statement? Make America great again.
